Windows won't recognize my Intel video chipset

Thanks for reading. I recently installed PARALLELS and have Windows XP Pro up and running. Everything I've tested works great, except for a game I tried installing.
The game installed fine actually, but when I try to run it, I need to select my video adapter. In the pull-down menu, there are no adapters to select. Normally, that means I need to install some sort of driver (I'm a Windows user, new to OSX).
Do I need to download a special driver? The game runs fine on my PC, btw. The game is not 'graphically intense' or 'hardware demanding,' it's an indy game called "Mr. Robot."
Basically, Windows isn't recognizing my Intel GMA graphics set. Is there anything I can do so Windows will recognize it?

Windows won't recognize 2nd ipod

I have a 5th generation ipod which works perfect with windows and itunes. I purchased a Nano . I charged it up first then pluged it in the usb 2.0 port that I use with my other unit. Windows won't recognize it. I can not find it in My Computer. In the device manager it shows up under other devices with a yellow question mark.
It claims it needs a driver and of course when I try the cd no I get one of those can't install hardware. I am using the latest versions of both software products.
I did the 5 Rs and went through this site and the help documents and nothing works. I took it back to the Apple store and they said it was working perfect.
So... I went home tried again, even disable my antivirus/firewall and no dice. I then tried it on my lap top and it installed and works fine. Where I am right now is copying what I wanted on one computer to CD and then importing the files ( sans song names) .
I am baffled on this one. One unit works fine then the nano won't be recognized on the other. Suggestions?

JAToubes: Windows can only handle one iPod connected at a time )http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61713) so make sure that your other iPod is disconnected first......you might need a re-boot before re-connecting given the yellow triangle warning.

Itunes won't recognize ipod and videos gone

I have a 30GB Video Ipod and itunes won't recognize it. I have to keep putting the music files back in and converting them. Also the Movie and TV Shows I bought disappeared. I have a Windows XP Home Edition, and itunes 7. I downloaded itunes about 4 or 5 months ago, it that helps. My ipod shows up in my computer though. I want to know:
1. How can I get itunes to recognize my ipod
2. How do I get itunes to keep and remember my files
3. How do I get my videos back?
4. Which version of itunes should I get and how do I get it?

Windows won't recognize my iPod - USB device not recognized

This is really frustrating. So I got a 4gb iPod nano on Saturday, took it home, set it up and everything was going just fine, no worry's. About 4 hours later I went to adjust my songs and it would not come up in iTunes. A little pop-up box said that the "USB device not recognized - one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it." After owning my iPod for less than an afternoon, I now have an ipod that I can do nothing to including change the music, charge it, etc. It works normally otherwise, it just won't connect to my computer. I then plugged in my older 256mb usb stick, and the same message, it too does not get recognized by windows. So I then tried a brand new 1gb usb stick that I had and the same result, not recognized by windows. I updated my itunes to the latest one after purchasing my ipod (version 7.4.3.1) and have looked up everything that I can and tried everything I saw to try, but nothing, absolutely nothing, worked. However my usb mouse, usb joystick, and usb printer all still work, but my moniter that has four usb outlets on it causes the same message, if I plug in the cable that connects one usb on my computer to the four on my moniter, windows can not recognize it. When I look in my device manager at the "unknown device" under the usb controller list it says that there is not driver for it, however I know that the drivers are either on my computer or built into windows. Any help? Anybody have an idea about what to do? Is it something in my windows registry has changed because of the new itunes, etc.?

Now that I've had some sleep, I realise I didn't really provide information that may lead to some specific help. Here goes - when I first plugged in the ipod nano (8gb), It displayed the screen it was supposed to - I could see the lightning bolt through the battery icon and knew it was charging. The icon for the ipod also appeared in the left-hand listing in itunes (in the section that existed under Library, before the sections Store and Playlists). This section now does not appear (I can't remember the title of this section, but it might have been 'devices'). In fact, I'm pretty sure this problem started when I clicked on this icon - nothing happened and it disappeared - so did the display on the ipod, which is not just the apple. This means itunes has only Library, Store and Playlist in the left-hand colunm. While I accept that computers do not work on normal logic, this seems to me to indicate that the drivers are fine, the system is fine, my laptop is fine - its the ipod or the usb cord. This morning as I tried again, this time my laptop gave me the option to 'click on the balloon to solve the problem' - let me quote: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it. Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognise it, replace the device". Come on folks - one of you will surely know how to fix this (short of me taking the ipod back to the store to get my money back).

Computer says iPod is there, but iTunes and Windows won't recognize it

I've had a 60GB ipod photo for about 4 years and it has served me well. This morning the iPod froze in the middle of a song. I hit reset, and it came back blank - all the files were gone. When I got to work and hooked it up to my computer, iTunes and Windows can't recognize it, but I can find it in device manager - which means I couldn't do restore.
I hit reset a few more times, changed USB ports and, somewhat miraculously, the iPod came back, complete with all files. On the way home from work it happened again and I haven't been so lucky.
I forced it into disk mode and iTunes recognized it, but told me it was corrupt. I also received a computer sound card error - my sound card was busy, and an error stating that audio/video playback could be limited. I tried restore, but I received the unknown error. I'm using the latest version of iTunes and I'm all out of ideas.
Any suggestions or should I put this iPod to rest and save up to buy a new one?

The most likely problem is that the hard drive in the iPod is becoming unreliable. It may be experiencing sticktion, which is friction that makes the spinning platter stick and the motor cannot get it spinning. The iPod is regularly spinning the hard drive up, to cache songs into memory, and then spinning it down, to save power. If the drive was not able to spin up when commanded (in the middle of a song), the iPod would seem to lock up. Later, bumping the iPod may make the hard drive spin again, so it seems to work again, at least for a while.
If this the the problem, the only way to fix it would be to replace the hard drive inside.
You might try reformatting the iPod using Windows, if you can get it to appear in a My Computer or Windows Explorer window. Use a full format instead of a quick format. If that process competes successfully, run iTunes and try using Restore again to install and initialize the iPod's software.
If formatting does not compete successfully, it may be time for that new iPod.
You can do some experimenting on the old iPod, if you're into such things. I have successfully installed a compact flash card (through an adapter), inside a 4th gen iPod as a replacement for the hard drive. It is only 4GB at the moment, but CF cards up to 16GB are getting relatively cheap, so I might get one of those and start using by old broken 4G iPod again, +now with shock-resistant energy-saving flash-based storage+.

Ipod said it needs restored but Itunes or windows won't recognize

I have an 80 gb classic and it said one day (after being fully charged) that it needed to be restored. So I plug it in and Itunes won't recognize it and windows shows it as a removeable disk but there's no info there either. I have the latest version of Itunes and have tried everything. I plugged my wifes 80 gb in and it syncs fine. I'm just hoping I don't have to get a new one. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

Apple creates Drivers but WINDOWS won't recognize them and doesn't let me install W7

Hi dear Mac users,
Boot Camp Assistant creates my drivers for me and I can place them either in a CD or a USB Disk.
I start W7 installation and it ask me for MAC drivers, even thought I browse drivers location W7 won't recognize them.
So i checked, most of the drivers are .exe, but W7 asks for the drivers long before the installation.
(I have W7 Home Premium)
So either I'm really really dumb or there's something wrong,

Is it asking for Mac Boot Camp drivers OR is it a generic Windows error asking for CD/DVD drivers?
If it's asking for CD/DVD drivers then it seems there is an issue with burning a W7 .iso, etc, images onto a disk on the Mac side. The W7 installer has the basic drivers already for everything so it can start up on any machine, for some reason that part of the iso gets buggered up when burning a disk. (or maybe gets corrupted when downloaded?). It seems to work best at x1 or x2 speeds and you may have to try other brands of disks. If you know anyone with a Windows machine you can try that.
Do a search for burning Windows 7 iso or something like that as there are quite a few post's about it.

Windows won't recognize ipod shuffle still !! Please Help

Ok, I just got this thing from a work awards website, you know your work gives you points and you can buy things with them? Anyway my wife has a 20gb ipod, pretty cool, so I figure I'll get the shuffle cause she won't let me near her ipod. I get it last week try to set it up and nothing it can't be recognized by the computer. So I think maybe it's not getting fully seated in the USB port and go buy a docing station today, come home hook it up, same problem, the darn computer doesn't recognize it, nothing. So I see that there is an on-line chat support tool, I think very cool they can help me. I enter my S/N and it says it was purchased like 4 months ago, no support for me. So now I'm very agravated, I just got this thing, but because the awards place bought it a while ago I'm out the 90-day support. I've done everything in the FAQ's it's charged, I've reset it a thousand times, I've tried to reload the shuffle but windows doesn't recognize it so I can't. What really makes me mad is the 20gb ipod works fine. I read in here that when you see amber and green isn't good? Thats all I see when I turn it on and touch any button. What does this mean? someone help me here, please... I'm going nuts

was having this problem among others. Found that I could see it in windows explorer but only as an additional disk but nothing in itunes. reformatted in windows, used updater then ejected from explorer. when fires up itunes and then reconnected ipod - it found it.

Windows won't recognize inserted cd

I've installed Boot Camp and Windows XP on it. Everything seems to work OK, except Windows will not recognize an inserted CD.
The CD is in Windows format. It works fine on other Windows machines.
Any ideas as to what is causing this? The funny thing is, it recognized the CD long enough to install Windows in the first place.

Sorry about this, but... ME TOO! (I'lll start my own thread if nothing comes of this one.) Our circumstances are probably different. Let's see:
My error is a late arrival as many CDs have been accessed until recently - last week or so - when my iMac 24" failed to recognise any CDs in Windows 7, Bootcamp or virtually via Fusion 3. After getting it to work in virtual XP (a virtual-CD discovery thing: clicking on 'Specify physical DVD/CD drive') , I returned to virtual W7 and opening Windows Explorer. Seeing no drive D: but hearing the drive whirring as a disk went in, I wrote D: in the Address Bar and it auto-completed with '\Half-life' (the CD in drive)! When I tried to get it to run, a message appeared saying 'Windows can't find 'D:\Half-life'. Check the spelling...' and nothing came of it. Drat.
I'll go back to Bootcamp once more and see if this behaviour is there too.

Windows won't recognize removable storage devices

I finally got Win XP loaded using VMwares Fusion. Windows works normally except that I cannot get it to find the external card reader for pictures, data, etc.
The MAC finds it and puts it on the Mac desktop, but Windows doesn't recognize it.
Any suggestions on how to get this external storage device to be displayed by Windows????

Quicktime 7.5 for windows won't recognize mp4 format

I am trying to play an mp4 video on my PC with Windows XP. I'm trying to use quicktime 7.5, but when I try and open the file I get the following error:
"Error -2048: Couldn't open the file MYGREATDVD.mp4 because it is not a file that Quicktime understands"
Does anybody have any idea why this is the case? I can play other formats of videos in Quicktime.

Regarding: 2048-Quicktime cannot play this file because it is not a file Quicktime understands.
FYI -I am using Quicktime PRO
I got this same message over and over when I used my free digital copy of Die Hard 4.
Solution I found: With recent Quicktime update, Quicktime seems to put a CAP on the size of the file it recognize and open.
To get the Digital Copy to work in Quicktime I compressed the File down from 5200 mbs (5.2 gigs) to 1700 mbs (1.7gbs)
Quicktime was then able to play the file and in additional I was able to import this file to itunes.
The unfortunate thing here is that the overall Quality of the file in itunes is now inferior to the quality of the file using Windows Media Player.
What I also found odd was that when I adjusted the file in itunes to play on Apple TV (convert for Apple TV) it increased the file size to 3.2 Gigs and the file plays fine. Althoug once again the quaility isnt as good as in Windows Media Player.
In my opinion this seems to be this is an issue with the Quicktime update. I tried other files out of curiosity and the same thing happened over and over. Quicktime gave me the 2048-Quicktime cannot play this file because it is not a file Quicktime understands: if the file was too large. Compressing the file allowed it to play.
*So My related question is: What is the Maximum File Size that Quicktime will recognize and play?* and *if it its not an error that will be fixed - Why would Apple put a CAP like this in place that directly results in inferior playback quality of a Movie*

Windows won't recognize 5th gen

yes.. I know there are atleast 3 topics about this already, but none of them quite dealt with my problem...:
My computer (Windows) has only recognized my iPod once. I put all my songs on it, and they all play fine. Long story short, my computer crashed, I got a new one, and now nothing on my computer will recognize the iPod. It won't even give me a message of something being corrupt. It's like nothing's even there. I've redownloaded iTunes from the cd, put the latest Updater on... none of it sees that it's connected. I've tried plugging it into different USB ports, resetting, and I even had Apple send me a new cable. Anyone got any ideas?

yeah, i read that somewhere when i was looking for answers. the problem with that is that only my C: drive is there... my computer doesn't even see that it's connected. thanks for the advice though.
i just keep looking at the iPod, and i don't understand how it can charge through the computer, but yet it won't be recognized. ugh, i don't even know where to begin. any advice or links to threads anyone think might help would be much appreciated.

Updater freezes, windows won't recognize i-pod

My i-pod went a bit odd last night. Windows XP wouldn't pick it up, so I tried running the latest updater. That seemed to run OK but then froze halfway through, so I had to manually disconnect the i-pod. Now my i-pod won't get picked up by my PC - Windows seems to pick it up as a USB device but I can't access it. I tried to run the updater again, but now it just freezes at initialising. So far, I have tried:
- connecting my husbands i-pod mini to the PC (it works fine),
- connecting my i-pod to my work PC (still have same problem),
- removing and reinstalling both i-tunes and the i-pod updater
Ther i-pod seems OK, as there is still the menu options and no error icons, but everytime I connect it to the PC, my PC slows down, the i-pod isn't picked up in i-tunes, although it is listed as a USB device in the "My Computer" list. A colleague of mine is going to try and running on his i-book tonight and see if he can get it to work. If not, any ideas? Please!

I have EXACTLY the same problem! So my computer crashed... Now I bought a brand brand new (better) one (Acer Aspire E360 with Windows XP). Like suggested, I downloaded the Updater 1.2. When I started the Updater, I got an error message, and now iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod anymore!!! All that happened was that all files are erased from my iPod and all I get is a message on the iPod: Do not disconnect. This is even worse!!!!!!
