Windows won't remember my new WEP key?

Every time I go to log on to my ssid it has my old network key. SO I enter in my new network key and it doesn't not take it.
My connections show are shown to be working and at a high rate but I can't get by browser running?
BTW I using a Linksys WRT54GS router from my desktop to my laptop via a cable connection. I had the system running fine but I changed the WEP Key recently and now it's no longer running.Message Edited by jakethesnake on 11-17-200611:58 PM

Sorry, but it is not fully clear what you are doing and what is happening exactly.
Do you have Windows XP?
Do you use Windows Zero Configuration or a laptop specific software for the wireless connection?
How do you know it still has the old network key?
How do you know that it does "not take" the new key?
What do you mean exactly when your connections are shown to be working?
If the network key is incorrect the wireless card should not be able to connect. Thus you don't have a working connection. Instead the wireless connection icon in the tray should show a red cross to indicate that it is not connected.
Also, when changing the network settings, I usually find it easier to change the settings on the properties panel of the network connection (if you are using windows zero configuration). For wireless connection there is a wireless tab. In the lower half you'll find all SSIDs you have configured. Click your SSID and edit the settings as you need.

Safari for Windows won't remember proxy authentication credentials

I'm trying to use Safari 5.1.2 on my work Windows 7 Professional machine to keep my bookmarks and reading list in sync with my iPhone and home Mac via iCloud. On my company network we use a proxy on port 9000 for all browsing, however Safari constantly spawns authenitcation credential prompts when opening pages (or without navigating at all). Selecting the option to remember the credentials does nothing, and the options for usernames and passwords is selected in Safari options but this doesn't help.
It doesn't matter what format I enter my username as. So far I've tried:
user
domain\user
FQDN\user
user@domain
user@FQDN
all to no avail.
Chrome V16 and IE9 have no issues with proxy authentication and they seem to share the global LAN settings. It doesn;t even hinder Safari's ability to resolve pages through the proxy, it's just annoying for each page view to spawn up to a dozen prompts.
Has anyone else had this issue, or shed any light on how to resolve?

My ipod touch 4th gen won't remember passwords

HI everyone,
my ipod touch used to remember passwords, then I had to change some that expired, so I told it to 'forget' passwords, now it won't remember the new ones!
how can I fix that?

well, that didn't fix it.
it is more frustrating because the right side letters don't type o portrait orietation, and the school logon screen doesn't go to landscape when I turn it, so I have put my passwords and school id in the notepad so I can copy and paste everyday I am at school

Firefox won't remember window size within the window

The size within the window will not remember it's size.
By either using the - / + or "Ctrl" & scroll wheel to change the size within the window...Firefox won't remember and when you go to the next window or link or tab or new page or whatever it goes back to the size it wants to be at (like a default size).
How do we get it to stay the same size for every page?

You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.

Upgraded OS from Windows 2000 to XP, now my Registration Key won't work

Any reason why my registration key won't work when I upgraded my OS from Windows 2000 to Windows XP? Oh, and I also upgraded the QuickTime application.

QuickTime 6.5 registration will not work with QuickTime 7.
You'll need to purchase a new "Pro" key or revert to QT 6.5 Pro.

When I open “airport utility,”on my iMac it tells me this version doesn’t support my base station & says go to “Airport Service & Support.” That’s what got me here.
My earlier MacBook runs OS 10.6.8. Its version of Airport Utility works. Its Airport ID has 17 characters, & uses the same password to access the internet, but it also has a “wireless password” of 26 characters, but only shows me the dots. i haven’t the foggiest notion what the characters are, if I put them in there years ago when i did the original configuration, or if they got there otherwise..
I’m afraid of changing those settings for fear that I’l mess up the whole thing.

HP8600 won't print from new HP Envy PC Windows 8.1 PC - only local users

I have an existing HP 8600 all-in-one printer this was never any problem on a homegroup network with my Windows 7 HP Pavillion destop PC and other portables. I have just upgraded to a HP Envy Desktop PC, but it has come with Windows 8.1 (Ouch!). I use this PC to run a home business and apart from having a connection to internet land I want nothing at all to do with have a Windows 'live' account on the new Envy. The Admin account that I have set up is a local one. I can't therefore download any application from the 'store' and neither do I want to.
In the absence of anything from the 'store' and as it wouldn't set-up automatically I have downloaded the original HP 8600 application and installed that.
The various office applications 'see' the HP8600 as existing and ready to print to - identified as HP Officejust Pro 8600 (Network) in the list of printers. However they won't print to it (the print jobs fail) and when I try Printer setup and software from the HP8600 software installed as noted above in the Ultities section it says that it is unable to retreive the computers network name when I enter the printer's IP address when required.
So much for plug 'n' play. Though the printer is connected the network wirelessly LOL. Given that this is HP trying to talk to HP and failing I am baffled - please can someone help.
NB. In camparison he old ancient HP1150 laser hard wired to the PC isn't batting an eyelid and is printing fine from first plug in with no changes!! I need the HP8600 to function wirelessly though as everyone uses it.

I read your posts about print jobs failing from your Windows 8.1 system, and wanted to reply to you with some of my suggestions.
First run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. I also would like you to check the Network Info you see in the image below, make sure VPN Connection says "No". Try printing again afterwards.
Next, try a Clean Boot, restart the PC, and try a print from Notepad and elsewhere if you wish. Go back into the clean boot instructions and enable the start up programs afterwards. I am curious to know if there is something running on your Windows 8.1 system that is blocking the printer from communicating with the printer. This step will let us know.
Let me know the results

I can't open a new window in Firefox 4 on my mac. Was working great. I installed new mac firmware and restarted, probably without closing Firefox properly. Now window won't open.

Firefox doesn't install new versions of plugins, but Flash may update itself automatically. 
You are still one version behind on Flash, current is Flash 10.1 r85 
If the Flash player didn't update properly then you need to download the full version and run the installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...)

Help PC won't remember key after reboot

I had to reinstall my wrt54g2 wireless router because it was unpluged for 2 months. When I select the wireless network I want and enter the key it will not let me add it to favorites so when I reboot I have to enter the key again. I have pressed the little red reset and uninstalled and reinstalled the easylink advisor but still won't remember the key.

Whats the Wireless Settings you have setup on your Router (SSID, Channel, Security Mode)? Whats the OS installed on your PC? Are you able to get connected to your wireless network ?

N97 mini won't save wep key

when setting my n97 mini up to connect via wireless it doesn't remember the wep key and asks for it every time I try to connect - how can I get it to save it?

WEP keys - is there a "remember" function?

Is it correct that every time I connect to my WEP secure wifi network that I have to enter my (24 digit) WEP key again? Surely the touch has a "remember password" function (given that it is designed to be portable!)??
I'm also grumbling about the lack of copy and paste app which could at least save some trouble with this problem. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. I have a WIFI wep network. If I join the network and LEAVE the wifi turned on no problem (most times). I can turn the ipod on and off. all is well (most times). However, after reading an article on the power drain imposed by the wifi I started turning off the wifi when I was not using it. Major increase in battery life. However, now when I want to use the wifi, I turn it on and it finds the network, and the small key icon disappears. So the network is there but I cannot access the network because the ipod didn't connect securely. I have to remove the network first, turn off the ipod so it is lost, turn the pod back on, and then add it as a OTHER network. Sometimes I have to do this several times and at times I have to turn off the ipod and turn it back on to get the wifi to work properly. HOWEVER, if I leave the wifi ON. I can power ipod on and off without a problem (most times) i.e. it still happens.

Everytime I go to get into Firefox the Windows Live Sign in comes up.This has been happening since I installed Windows 7 and it won't remember sign in details.How can I get rid of Windows Live sign in??

Won't Remember Window Placement

I have a late 2010 MBA running up-to-date Mavericks with an external large display. Since upgrading to Mavericks, when I move a Calendar, Contacts, Word or Skype windows to my small screen and restart the applications it places each window back on my large screen. I tried resizing them and closing them with the red dot and modifying and saving them before restarting. This did not fix the problem. When I place a Finder window on the built-in screen and close and open the window it does remember the screen location. For the other windows it is remembering part of the screen location because when I move it to the upper right of the internal screen or to the lower left of the internal screen it opens it in the upper right or lower left of the big screen, respectively. Can anyone duplicate this behavior?

I found the answer. It is a new Mavericks multi-display feature. It opens the application window in the display where the menu bar is active. So to open the application window on the internal display I click on the internal display background and then open the application. I prefer to use both screens as one logical space with my application windows arranged across both screens so I found how to turn it off.
System Preferences > Mission Control > Displays have separate spaces > Uncheck the box.

Yes good point. It's Fireworks CS6 v 12.0.0.274 on Mac OSX v10.9.5.
I didn't have this issue with CS5.5 on 10.9.5, only started with CS6.
Anyway, you're probably right re living with it.
Maybe someone has experienced the same issue and found the reason.
