Windows wont' shutdown
Hi guys, couldn't find a faq on this.
Everytime I try to shutdown or restart, windows gets stuck at "windows is shutting down".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Found the solution to my own problem.
After basically taking everything off, I found that an optorite CD burner that was on the secondary IDE was causing the problem.

I get a popup window on shutdown: abort installation?
I get a popup window on shutdown asking if I want to abort installation. I don't know what program is trying to install. But that generally stops the shutdown from completing. How do I find what application is being installed, and eliminate it?
Running 10.10.2 on Macbook proThis has been going on for a while, I have no idea what it might be. The window does not state what is trying to be installed. Aborting the installation sometimes results in a shutdown, but also can block the shutdown, so I get a blank screen with the cursor - no spinning wheel.
I just looked at the activity monitor, but have no idea how to read that. The following is just an example of part of what it shows.

Windows wont launch during XP SP2 install
I'm having issues installing XP SP2 (OEM) on my Macbook Pro system w/ Boot Camp 2.0, Leopard 10.5.2. Windows wont launch after 100% of files are copied from the disc during the install process.
Boot Camp partitions HD correctly and asks for the Windows Install Disc. System restarts from the CD and begins installation - I access the blue screen where I select XP partition - 'C: Partition3 (Bootcamp) (FAT32)'. I hit Enter and installation begins. B.C. setup manual shows 2nd blue screen where you select the file system you want (FAT file or NTFS file) - I have not seen this screen yet. Does this appear after installation? Installation begins and progress bar installs through 100% in 20-30 minutes.
At 100%, computer immediately restarts to black screen and "Press any Key to continue" appears. If I press key, original installation screen appears and it takes me through the exact same process I just did. If I don't hit a key, error occurs and the screen freezes at "Press any Key". If I restart, original install screen appears and Windows re-starts installation. I'm stuck in a loop. I erased the partition with B.C., re-partitioned, but still the same result.
Any advice? I need this for school ASAP.

jI watched a Youtube Video about installing so I see where the problem is. I don't see the initial End-User License agreement screen, and after I select 'C: Partition3 (Bootcamp) (FAT32)', the "Select File System" screen that is supposed to immediately show up does not appear. What gives? I know OEM should work with Boot Camp.

Need some help, ive installed XP sp2 {NTFS} on Seagate Sata drive no probs, then i added the Maxtor pata drive to IDE 1 in master, bios sees it, drive manager in xp sees it but windows wont, tried to assign and change drive letter but it wont let me,i right click and it gives the option of changing to dynamic drive, what on earth is dynamic drive i didnt want to risk it because it has my back up info on it from millennium {fat 32} rebooted and added drive to raid with Seagate and when you exit raid bios it stop and says disk read error, i tried it in slave mode still wont see it, how do you get xp to see a pata drive? help!!
1. Since you have the drive on the middle connector of the cable it should be jumpered as slave, not master.
2. In XP a dynamic drive is another way of saying software raid drive. Don't do it as it can't be reverted back without uninstalling and formatting.
3. You should be able to do as suggested using the disk management console to reassign it's drive letter once you've jumpered it as slave while it's still on the middle connector of the cable.
4. You haven't stated if the sata drive is setup in a raid configuration or if you're using it as a standard drive.
5. Maybe moving it to the secondary ide controller would allow XP to see it properly and allow you to pull all you important info off it then you could format it and use it as a archive or backup drive. -

Edit to Tape window wont expand
Hi, I have been working on Final Cut 6 and when I go to play to tape the EDIT TO TAPE window wont expand out at all. Even with dragging at bottom and side it wont expand open.
I can see the three tabs at the top but nothing else, can anyone help with this please?

I have a similar issue with the Edit to Tape window - when working in HD the ETT window often appears as only one pixel wide. The window can't be grabbed, dragged or resized. My work around is to switch the setup to PAL, open the ETT window, and then switch back to HD.

I found something that worked. One way that works, but I prefer not to use it, is to open MSCONFIG and to to the Startup Tab. Remove the checkmark on RIM Desktop Platform. After removing the checkmark Re-Start the computer. Unfortunately this will disable the RIM software from allowing your phone to remotely see files on your computer using the phone's file manager. In a very simple explanation, NGINX is a utility that works like a remote server access utility. RIM uses this service in their LINK program. The fix I used was to go in to the LINK setup. Click on This Computer {Computer name} at the top upper left. Click on Remote File Access to remove the checkmark. At the top inside of the top barder of the program window, Sign Out.
Re-start the LINK software. Log back in again. If you want to allow for Remote File Access, put back the checkmark. If everything went well, the fault should no longer appear.
Re-Boot the computer. The fault should be gone. The more drastic way is to un-install LINK, and then re-install LINK. Then go through all the setups to get it going again.Your fix, quoted from you below, worked super delux. I found a new problem, but this would not affect most users unless they were using remote acces from the BB phone to their computer.
When RIM Desktop Platform is unchecked to not start up, there is no longer access over the mobile network to have a direct link from the phone to the computer that is running BB Link. In simple terms, the user of the BB phone can look at and modify files on their computer while out on the road. This can come in very handy in the case you need some info that is on your computer at home or at the office.
For this to work in the first place, the Link software must be logged in to the account, and be set up to allow this. If I remember correctly by default this feature does work.

My iMac 333 blue, wouldnt shutdown with OS 8.6. I figured it's time to update to OS 10.3.9 and I did, wiping out the hard drive and doing a clean (reformatting) install. Now the iMac wont shutdown AGAIN. It restarts ok. Is this a hardware thing? OS 8.6 is gone, only 10.3.9 is on it...??????

I'm not sure about the not shutting down thing, maybe a disk permissions or a preferences thing would be my guess. (Do you have an automatic file back up on your system that is set to back up everything before shutdown?)
When I updated my iMac from Classic OS to OS X, I thought I had to update from 8.6 to 9.2.1 so that classic would work on OS X. I also had to update the computer firmware. If you didn't use the correct firmware update, that might cause both of your problems.
Just a guess.

Is the AMDS running?
Does the iPod apear in in My Computer (if PC)?
Have you tried other cables?
Have yu tried another computer to verify yu have a comouter problem?

What kidna refresh did you do exactly? And what O/S came originally came with the laptop?

(2) Lenovo B575 Windows wont start
bought lenovo b575 last week in Bestbuy as a gift for my father-in-law. Since it was on sale, I decided to get one for my self too. Both laptops were working the way they suppose to work until yesterday, mine turns on but windows wont open, and then i recieved a call from my father-in-law saying the same thing happen to his laptop..
Any idea? Is this a common problem w/ lenovo? Not even a week old from the date purchased...Should I call Lenovo or Bestbuy w/ this kind of issue?

Is there any error message while you shutdown?
Locate to event logs to find more clues and upload them.
In my view, there are many factors causing this issue, such as backgroud apps and
services, operational devices,etc.
To exclude external factors, please make sure all apps are closed and plug out all external devices.
Also, you can attempt to trace windows 7 shutdown with Windows Performance Tools Kit (WPT).

Garageband, visual eq levels window wont pop open! Help!
Im trying to adjust the levels on the visual eq but, the window wont pop up. I click on the levels section next to the indicator led and the window just wont pop up. Someone help me please! Is there anyway I accidently stopped the window from opening because I cant get any of the other effect level windows to pop up either. They were working yesterday.

JDeveloper Log Window wont appear
We are working with JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 and recently we have detected that the Log Window is missing, we cant get it pressing the View Menu and the Log option.
The window wont just appear and it really looks a bug because when we press the Log option the whole application looses focus. Do you know a workaround to get this to work.
