Windows XP and Live! Dr

I installed Windows XP and now my Soundblaster Li've! Platinum 5.'s front panel (I mean the Li've! Dri've) is not working. Everything else is working, but there are no volume controls for Mic in 2 / Line in 2 and the rest of the jacks on the front panel.
I have tried several methods found on this and other forums. I updated my drivers with the 23MB UniDrvPack, but it didn't help. I uninstalled all the drivers (first from Add/Remove Programs, then with the .EXE file) and installed them again. Then I installed the old drivers from the CD that I got back in the day, but then I got no sound until I updated the old ones with the new ones. Then there was sound, but the Li've! Dri've is still not working.
I have read from several places that there are problems with , but this is ridiculous. I've spent all day trying to find an answer for this, with no luck.
Yes, everything is in place and all the cables are connected. I don't think the problem is with the card itself, because I've read the exact same problem from many places and it worked fine before I installed Windows XP. Any ideas?

Well I'll be ****ed. After trying the advice I found on these boards several times I finally managed to get Line in 2 to work. Here's what did it for me:
- Uninstall all Soundblaster drivers from Add/Remove Programs
- Uninstall all Soundblaster drivers with CTZAPXX.EXE
- Delete windows/system32/sfman32.dll (and from other directories too)
- Delete windows/system32/emu*.sys (and from other directories too)
- Reboot
- Install the drivers with CTZAPXX.EXE
- Reboot
- Install the drivers from Li'veDrvUniPack.EXE
- Reboot
Everything else I tried resulted in either Setup not finding the soundcard or simply getting no Line in 2 in the volume controls. This worked anyway. From what I've read the same problem has occurred to other people with SP2 so maybe this'll help them.

  • Is there a way to set up email sinc of folders using Windows 7 and Live Mail?

When I got my new computer with Windows 7,  I got email on Live Mail.  I have not been able to set up sinc with email folders.  Is it possible to sinc with these or must I have Outlook?  Is this Outlook or Outlook Express? Can I purchase Outlook separately?

You also asked about the functional differences between WebHelp and WebHelp Pro, so let me elaborate.
I'm aware of only two major differences (other than the extra benefits of feedback analytics reports and management of "Areas" with authentication in RoboHelp Server).
The behavior of Browse Sequences as explained above
The fact that Content Categories are not supported in WebHelp Pro for this latest version 9.
As for the Browse Sequences you are trying to provide for different modules (licensed, etc.): Multiple Browse Sequences are included in a single .BRS file. The sequences are defined in the XML within the single file.
As a workaround (for either WebHelp or WebHelp Pro) you could create a NGP Help.brs. which you have already created for one module; then backup and archive it. Then, create a modification for the different module before you generate again. The NGP Help.brs. will need to have the same name as your project so you will have to manage the desired .brs file into the project folder when you generate that version. All of your other choices (TOC, Index, Conditional Tags, etc.) would remain the same for the respective modules.
Finally, I note that you are apparently generating WebHelp Pro right now even though you are not publishing it to the RH Server? This is really not the best practice. You should generate plain WebHelp for a web server that does not have RH Server on it (even though you may be getting away with it). As for your concern about "breaking" something; each output is placed in a different !SSL! folder automatically when you generate, so you should be able to generate WebHelp without interferring with the WebHelp Pro output. Then, you can re-publish to the RH Server using WebHelp Pro whenever the server is ready.

  • Webcam on Satellite A500 using Windows 7 and Windows Live Messenger 2009 (14.0.8089.726)

Hello. This is my very first post and maybe I can find a resolution to the problem. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you if you can assist me in resolving the problem.
I recently upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium using the Windows 7 Upgrade Media that was sent to me for my Toshiba Satellite A500. The upgrade loaded successfully. My laptop already had the Windows Live (MSN) Messenger on it when I was using Windows Vista and the webcam worked okay then. Now with Windows 7, when I try to do a voice/video chat using the Windows Live (MSN) Messenger version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726), my built-in laptop webcam does not work. When I initiate a voice/video chat, all I get is a big red X next to the webcam icon in the little view area window when it attempts to run. I can receive voice/video from people using MSN Messenger but my laptop can't send out any video. My laptop sends out voice but no video. I un-installed the Messenger, rebooted and re-installed it but it still won't do video output.
Interestingly, when I tried doing a voice/video chat with Gmail, my webcam worked. I haven't tried Yahoo yet. My webcam worked fine before upgrading to Windows 7. I suppose I could just forget about MSN Messenger and use Gmail but not all my contacts use Gmail. I'd like to be able to continue using MSN Messenger if possible.
So I'm posting here to see if there is any resolution or suggestions I can have to get my webcam working with Windows Live (MSN) Messenger. Not the end of the world if I can't make it work again.
    Have a nice day. Regards,
    Doug

  • Is PS Elements 12.0 compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail??

Is the Organize/eMail part of Elements 12.0 compatible with my Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail?  I have never been able to make it work with my Elements 9.0 after many hours of trying.  The problem is acknowledged by Adobe and a solution offered but the solution does not work in any of my three Windows 7 computers.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Brian, Thank you for responding.  I actually have two different questions on the same topic so I'll discuss them one at a time.
    1.  When I purchased a new Windows 7 computer several years ago I also purchased PSE 9.0 because I had been told my old PSE 4.0 would not work with W7.  I didn't get around to installing it until last fall--PSE 4.0 was working fine on the XP machine and I didn't have the time.  PSE 9.0 installed fine but I could not email a  photo from the Organizer.  I recently got interested in fixing the problem which has turned out to be more difficult than I could imagine.  I found a lot of evidence on the web that to make it work with W7/Windows Live Mail  you needed to make some patches in the registry.  I tried to follow the Adobe instruction a number of times but when I got down to: " 4. On your desktop, double-click SetDefaultEmailClient.reg. If prompted, click Continue. Click Yes on the Registry Editor confirmation prompt." it would not work.   Double clicking would bring up the browser with some register-like statements:  [Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message\shell] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message\shell\open] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft Internet Mail Message\shell\open\command] @="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Windows Live\\Mail\\wlmail.exe /mailurl:%1" ].  I did not get a "Continue" to click on or a "Yes on the Registry Editor confirmation prompt".   I got nothing to take action on that might cause the registry to be updated with the specified patches.  I'm no expert on modifying the registry and this is beyond my understanding.  It just didn't do what it implied it would and I'm lost.  I've tried in on my WLM 2011 computer and on my brand new W7 notebook computer with WLM 2012.  I tried it using my normal browser, Firefox, and using Internet Explorer.
PSE 9.0 does indeed show Windows Live Mail as an option under Edit/Preferences/Sharing and I have selected it.  When I try to share a photo via email all seems to go normally to the end when I get the message:  "Elements Organizer could not finish creating your E-mail message."  And, that is really not very helpful.  When I Google on that "Elements Organizer could not finish creating your E-mail message" I find that I'm far from being the only one with this problem and people with PSE 8.0, PSE 10.0 and PSE 11.0 have reported the problem.  I've found no way to communicate with Adobe and even their main support number, 800-883-6687, comes on with a message "this number is temporarily unavailable"!! I've called over 50 times over several days. That seems quite unusual.  It seems like selling a software product that is incompatible with one of the most popular Microsoft operating systems and email clients would not be a good thing.   Sorry for all the words but I wanted to define the situation as well as I can.
    2.  Given all of the time I've I spent without solving the problem it seemed tossing my PSE 9.0 and switching to PSE 12.0 might have been a smart move many months ago.  And, I'm considering it now.  That is why I really would like to get some assurance from Adobe that the problem is fixed and that I will have no problems with PSE 12.0, at least with emailing from the Organizer.  The news that it is working for you is encouraging and I hope others will report on the luck they have had.  You say it works better with WLM 2012 than with WLM 2011 but I don't know what that means.  It seems that the minimum requirement is that any time you want to send a photo via email, it works!
If anyone knows how you can contact Adobe, by phone or email, please let me know.
    Thank you very much, Brian.
    Jim

  • Windows 7, WebCam Live! Ultra, and Gray options

I used this camera on Windows XP and it worked fine. But recently I switched to Windows 7. There doesn't seem to be any driver for this webcam on Windows 7. I tried the beta driver for Vista and it seems to work. (green light on the camera and visible video on Webcam Center program). However, now that I'm on Windows 7, I can't seem to change any settings. They are all grayed out. These settings are causing lag to my video like frame skips. How can I fix this gray option issue?
TL;DR -> Worked on xp, switched to windows 7, options are grayed. no windows 7 drivers for WebCam Live! Ultra.

I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to the newest verison of firefox and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. I then made sure it could get through my firewall and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version hoping that would do it and once again nothing. It will not open at all. Please help - is there a live chat or a number to talk to someone at Firefox?

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

  • Windows Vista and FME

Seen some interesting behavior with Windows Vista and FME.
When watching the connection status of a live broadcast I get lots
    of empty full buffer dumps.
    #NSManager# (doLiveOnStatus:NetStream.Buffer.Full)
    #NSManager# (doLiveOnStatus:NetStream.Buffer.Empty)
I have seen this happen when using the On2 Flix encoder with
2.0.479 but not typically with FME. The only different variable is
Vista and the client is running it on his laptop.

Thanks for the reply. I actually got first hand use with it
on the clients machine. The problem is that FME gets cranky when
you drop packets and the client is using a wireless card to
    transmit the data.

  • Windows Vista and Framework 4.5.1 compatibility with TLSv1.2

Windows Vista OS by default does not come with TLSv1.1 and TLSv1.2. However the support is offered by installing .NET Framework 4.5.1.

Is there a fixpack orsomething i need to install?
I am using Windows Vista Business 32bit Service Pack 2.
    Thanks for the help

Those two updates went away. The update history does not show them having succeeded in installing. They are just gone. But a new .Net update shows up in Windows Update: KB2858725. It also fails to install with error code 641.
I tried running it manually (I'm trying to paste the whole file name here, but all that shows up is ENU.exe. Seriously!? What the fuck!?) and that fails. "Installation did not succeed. .Net framework 4.5.1 has not been installed because: the windows
installer service could not be accessed." A dialog comes up that has a link to a log file, but clicking it does nothing.
I tried following the suggestions in
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/need-to-reinstall-windows-installer-in-windows-7/4cb8e54c-5a4e-439d-9d46-1dcd387d2604
I tried running sfc /scannow. It returned message:
Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 18% complete.
Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
The other changes didn't apply except unregistering and reregistering the Windows Installer. None of that made any difference.
Today, an update to Windows Activation Technologies showed up: KB971033. I tried to install that and it says that it succeeded.
    KB2858725 still fails.

  • Screen flickering in windows 8 and 8.1

Recently I've started to have this problem in both windows 8 and 8.1, where the screen flickers and lines and other oddities dance across the screen. It seems to happen much more in windows 8.1 than in windows 8, but it does still happen in windows 8. It seems to have started when I upgraded the OS X side of my laptop to Mavericks. The odd thing is that it doesn't exhibit the problem on the main display or a newly attached external display when at all when I plug the computer into an external display with hdmi. This makes me think that it might be some sort of a driver issue, but I am not really sure. Here is a video showing the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ICiCFfWv8I If anyone has any ideas about how I might be able to fix this issue, or if I need to have the laptop repaired/replaced, that would be extremely helpful!
    Thanks!

    @pwabrahams ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums. If each driver is the same file name and same date but have different file sizes.  What you will want to do is to download each one and save it to an external memory device.
Once you have the drivers downloaded boot your system into safe mode.
    Windows 8 Safe Mode
Now in safe mode uninstall the driver for your video.
When the driver is removed boot back into windows normally and install the driver.
Try all three drivers.  If all have the same issue you will need to do a repair.  For that you will need to contact HP phone support.

  • Windows 7 and Installation Booting.

I have a strange problem here. i searched everywhere about it. but nothing in my hand.
so im opening bootcamp wizard everything is ok. i did partitioning and after mount the win 7 dvd. mac rebooted. i passed white bios screen and staying in the empty black screen with blinking white cursor. i tried this with 2 different windows 7 dvd. one of them x86 and another one is x64. but i could install vista and xp. what can i do about it.

Biggest issue for now is going online and just how secure Windows 7 along with 3rd party products are, and problems with the new UAC.

Avast, Kaspersky seem to be the two best bets, though I wonder how much AV software does to protect. Windows 7 was running fine until a Norton 360 3.0 beta 110 live update; and there are problems with a "Symantec Service Framework" process and other features for now.
So I bought SuperAntiSpyware (SAS) to go along.
One reason for having two installs of Windows 7 (and keys) so I can test "A" on one system before applying it to "B" and I need to get better with system restore images.
The one issue has been my 2006 Mac Pro doesn't support the EFI boot screen the Windows 7 DVD (and Vista SP1 DVD) implement. I can install Windows from inside one of my three Windows OS without needing to boot from DVD and get around that.
Knowing more about Norton (yes, but Symantec's 2009 AV and NIS really do run better than Kasperky and AVG and no trouble on my systems) but it will be awhile. I would prefer they have just an AV beta for Windows 7 and then add on more, instead their "360" is trying to do too many things and too new.... Windows 7 has enough changes it will take time and work for any vendor.

  • Y500 dual boot windows 8 and fedora 19 problem

I bought a y500 two days ago and i wanted to dual boot windows 8 and fedora 19, so here's what i did
    1. downloaded fedora 19 (x64) iso from the fedora website.
2.made a live USB using live usb creator.
4.opened disk management utility and shrunk the c drive (windows 8 was installed here) by 100 gb and kept the 100gb unallocated.
    3. started the laptop with novo button, changed the bios config to boot from usb.
4.installed fedora from usb, selecting the 100gb unallocated memory for installation
    5.restarted the laptop.
now the problem is fedora works perfectly but when i try to boot windows 8, the following error is shown.
    windows failed to start
    file:\BOOT\BCD

i am guessing the fedora installation overwrote the boot files of windows and
i have not taken a backup. please help

    hi,
I have a Y500 and I wanted to dualboot fedora 19 with windows 8, this proved to be unsuccessful. I had made a repair disk before the process (but not a set of recovery disks unfortunately >.<   ). now I inserted the repair disk and selected the automatic repair option, it showed a message that auto recovery has failed.  now when I pressed the NOVO button and selected the system recovery option, it does not go into the OKR menu but continues with the normal booting process.  Can somebody guide me or give links where I can find step by step instructions to making OKR work and reset my laptop to factory settings? PLEASE help As Soon As Possible
NOTE: I did resize the windows 8 os partition but the recovery and the lenovo partition are still untouched

  • DUAL BOOT windows 7 and linux HELP with Current info on BIOS, MBR vs GPT, etc

I have a feeling this should be easier than what I'm making it.  Please educate me on Lenovo's BIOS Setup menus, etc.
I have installed easyBCD in Windows 7, and plan to use it to set up my new boot menu with Linux Mint (and possibly other distros).
I am using a live DVD.  I inserted the DVD and went into SETUP and selected to boot off the DVD drive.  It started to boot into Linux and all was going well.
However, I realized that I had not checked on the Secure features (Secure Boot, EFI).  So I shutdown again and went into BIOS.  I went to the SECURITY menu and Disabled UEFI.  Then I disabled Secure boot.
Tried to boot off the DVD and couldn't get anywhere.  Kept putting me back into the window to select the boot device over and over again.  THought I'd ruined my machine
Anyway, finally stumbled upon STARTUP menu, and put it into EFI Legacy, and I was able to get back into Windows 7.
Obviously before I pursue this further, I need some educaiton on your MENUS, Lenovo and EFI/Secure Boot.
I have a feeling that I can probably now install the Linux but want to make sure my settings are correct before I pursue.
    Thanks, Kim
Moderator note:  this thread gets more Linux-flavored with each post   Moved from the "T" board to the Linux board.

Hi, thanks for ans.  Your specs are almost identical to my T530 ,which I should have listed.  The only diff is
I have an i7 35something processor.   Same intel card, RAM and HDD, not that that should matter I'm guessing.
I purposely avoided the Nvidia card because of all the heaadaches with Nvidia.
I have to teach a class tomorrow and I need to clean up my notes.  (Definitely not computer related...LOL.)  I don't want to  be stressed out about this during class, so I plan to wait to attempt a new install tomorrow afternoon.
What I have done is find out some more info about dual booting with windows 7.  I went in to windows 7 to shrink the C: partiition and it said I'd have to reserve at least 220 GB for MS!  Not what I wanted; I don't really care a thing for MS.  I was born and raised on Unix and Linux; I never really fiddled with MS after the demise of MS-DOS during my college days.
Given that, and the fact that I'd lose half my 500 GB HDD to the Borg, I may just chuck the entire dual boot thing and just load Linux on it.
If you say you're running Linux on it just fine, that would be a great encouragement.  No HW problems at all? Everything working fine?  Which distro are you using?
I plan to test Mint, Fedora, PCLinuxOS, Mageira (sp?), saybahon (sp again?), Debian Wheezy, and even Pear, LOL. I'll keep trying till I find a distro to run on my Lenovo T530, but I'm guessing all of 'em should do okay.
I have Lubuntu I could give a spin, as well and Crunchbang and Bodhi, but they're all 32 bit.  (I have an antique Dell desktop that I still use down in my woman cave.)

  • Dual Boot Windows 7 and Arch with Shared NTFS partition.

    Hi everyone,
I want to dual boot windows 7 and Arch Linux.
Here's the problem... my hard drive isn't the biggest.  I want to store all my music, movies, pictures, and documents on partition that both linux and windows can access seamlessly.
I want the partition to be NTFS.   -- (the programs that map an ext4 drive to Windows are trash).
    Here's what I think I need.
    30GB NTFS to Windows.
    30GB ext4 to Arch Linux
The remainder (190ish GB) to Shared Data.
I don't want the swap partition because I have a SSD and 4GB of RAM.
What is the best way to setup my partitions?  And is this even possible?
    Thanks!

Not a problem.  I would create:
First of four primary partitions for windows.
Second of four primary partitions for /boot
Third of four partitions is an extended partition encompassing all the space not used by the first two partitions.
Put everything else inside the extended partition.
