Windows XP corruption - Must Reinstall iTunes, New Drive

Briefly:
XP Home Edition became corrupt on failed installs of SP 2.
Must reinstall windows.
As long as I'm at it, I will put in a much bigger new internal Hard Drive for music and photo and data files and keep the old drive for XP and applications only.
How to do this?
First I will shift all data and music files
Next, reformat and wipe the old drive and reinstall -- don't think I can chance just reinstalling windows over the corrupt files.
I got the instructions on how to move the iTunes music library files to a new drive.
My questions are about the iTunes app itself:
1. do I need to deauthorize and uninstall? or
2. can I just wipe the drive and reinstall from CD and update from website w/o deauthorizing and uninstalling first?
Most of my music is from my own CDs, but I have purchased a few albums and tracks from the iTunes store and do not want to lose them.

I had to put in a new motherboard and wasn't able to de-authorize that in advance, since the PC wouldn't even boot up.
I was able to deauthorize it twice, after reapir.
And then reauthorize to get my 'authorized PC' count set correctly at one.

  • Get error message that says, "ITunes not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CD's, you must reinstall Itunes."

    Hello:
I have installed Itunes on my new Windows 7 based computer (64 bit) and get the following error message everytime the program opens, "ITunes not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CD's, you must reinstall ITunes."  So, I have removed ITunes, Quick Time and Apple associated software, twice, from my computer and reinstalled the latest version (10.4.1) but get no fix to the problem.  ITunes will import CD's but will not burn them with this error in place.  Anybody know how to fix this problem?

if you have 64bit os this is problem:
Any 64-bit version of Windows is not supported so you should expect certain things not to work. From Apple's iTunes page the Windows requirements are:
32-bit editions of Windows XP or Vista
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later required for Apple TV or iPhone
500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
    QuickTime 7.1.6 or later (included)
    256MB RAM
Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music

Just installed iTunes 10.4.1 and it wouldn't work.  Did a system restore.  ITunes will not boot.  Computer tells me I must reinstall iTunes.  How do I do that?

Thanks, but since iTunes will not boot, I cannot run that iTunes diagnostic.  Just need to know how to reinstall iTunes (Windows XP). Do I need to remove the existing non working version of iTunes, or can I just install iTunes from Apple like I was a new user?

  • Drive failure, how to reinstall on new drive

Hi, I have an Envy TouchSmart 15 which seems to have a bad drive (short DST check fail RGDUHF-71G7JL-MFGJWK-60UJ03) and while I can boot up Windows and log in, from that point onwards I cannot do anything except move the mouse pointer. I cannot launch the recovery program to create a recover disc from this and the boot-time repair/restore options all hang. I've also run chkdsk on its drive when connected to a second computer (in a USB cage) and chkdsk reports no issues.
So, I have bought a new drive and I'm wondering how to get Windows 8 on it. I also have a second, identical HP Envy which works fine and am wondering if I can create a recovery USB thumb drive from that 2nd machine, boot the 1st machine from that thumb drive and reinstall it from scratch but I am under the impression that the recovery media can only attempt to recover a drive that is already installed, but it will not do a full reinstall.
Is the only option here to buy the media from HP at $50? If so, does it come on USB because I do not have a DVD drive.
    Thanks.

One additional comment: despite the fact that I had gone from a 750GB drive to a 1TB drive, the recovery procedure partitioned the new drive in an odd way. It left me with only 130GB for the primary boot partition (C: drive with Windows) and left 800GB as unallocated space at the end of the drive. Between the C: partition and the large, unallocated space there was a recovery partition so I had to use EaseUS (Partition Master Free) to swap the recovery & unallocated partitions and then merge the C: and unallocated partitions so that I now have a 930GB C: drive.
BTW I now realize that I should have posted this thread in the 'Recovery' rather than 'Lockups/Freezes' forum so if an admin wants to move it there, that's great.

  • ERROR 7 (Windows Error 126). Reinstalled Itunes but  no access at all. MSVCR80.dll missing.

I upgraded to the lastest Itunes version available, and the message error showed up... I reinstalled Itunes 3 times. It doesn´t work. Thanks for your help.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Uninstall Premiere and reinstall on new drive?

I have only 5 Gb available space on the drive where Premiere is stored. Premiere is running slowly, becomes non-responsive, and fails to save render files. I want to uninstall Premiere from my C drive and move it to another drive with more space. What do I need to know before I do this? what will happen to my media cache etc?

Thanks Mylenium. I have Photoshop, Audition, After Effects and Premiere installed through Creative Cloud, so uninstalling and reinstalling them all should free up a couple of Gigs. Are the render files saved to the system root drive or the drive where Premiere is installed? Ie if Premiere is reinstalled on my E drive (which has about 200 free gigs) will that allow Premiere to automatically save render files?
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop to my E drive by selecting a new location under Prefs in Adobe application manager. It is now in the new location, however not much space has been freed on my C drive despite photoshop being around 3 gb. Is this because it has a large number of Shared Components?
On Friday I attempted to add space to my C drive using a program called Partition Wizard. My system crashed and I spent the weekend reinstalling windows and restoring my files, so I'm not tempted to try that again.
Do you have any thoughts on the best way forward?

  • Windows 8 64 cannot reinstall itunes

I had Itunes working fine, the for the first time, I downloaded photos from my new Iphone 6 and now Itunes won't work. I uninstalled everything in the order suggested by Apple, then downloaded and saved and ran as administrator the 64 bit version of itunes installer. I keep getting these errors. any other ideas?? thank you!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Reinstall onto new drive.

My iMac hard drive failed and a new one was installed by Apple. The HD has nothing on it and I want to use reinstall discs. Other than plugging in and inserting disc, are there any special instructions?
Note: I do not want the info from time machine used as I want to sell this machine. I need software in place to sell.
    Thanks.

Did he hold down the C key while booting up (so it'll boot from the install CD) - I failed to mention that in my last post thinking you were most likely aware of that. And, did he then check to see if the hard drive was formatted properly? If you didn't, that might explain it (since there is nothing on the hard drive, it can't find the system). It shouldn't be spinning for that long - you can also take a look at this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2674
So, if you didn't boot from the install CD, I'd say, do a hard shut down and hopefully it'll eject the install CD. If not, try it again while holding down the Option key after pressing the power button - that should bring up the Startup Manager and you should be able to choose the install CD.

  • I must reinstall iTunes almost every time I want to sync my iphone. Why?

On the Mac - OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.4 -it works for a couple of times connecting the device (iPad or iPhone), then no more.

You'll have to do it by process of elimination. Sign into the iTunes Store through the App Store app, go to the Purchased section, and look at the list of apps purchased through your own Apple ID. Anything on your iPhone not in that list isn't yours and should be deleted. The same process would apply to content from the iTunes Store.
Or you can just restore the iPhone from your most recent backup and then redownload everything from the iTunes Store. But if you have a lot of apps or content, that obviously wlll be slow.
I updated my iphone by his ID , is it still problem?
That's probably how you got your friend's purchases. It won't be an issue for iOS, but it is an issue for those apps and content.
    Regards.

  • I'm upgrading ssd in mba.  How can I save mavericks to reinstall on new drive?

Does existing drive have to be cloned first? Can I put mavericks on a drive by itself and startup from that?

Either way will produce a boot drive.  If you clone though, you will also copy all of your user data.  Installing just the OSX will not copy your user data.
Cloning can be done via Disk Utility>Restore or using Carbon Copy Cloner (download from the Internet).
    Ciao.
