Windows XP Home freezes when airport card is disable

Hi everyone!
Problem like in the subject. If I disable airport card in Windows XP on my MacBook Pro 2.4 T7700 with Geforce, operating system dies (I used Boot Camp beta 1.3).
It won't start even in Emergency Mode, only in "last good configuration" mode with airport TURNED ON (of course)! If I remove the device everything is OK, but I can't go wireless when I need!
How to overcome this issue? Has enyone come across this issue?
cheers,
the soundman

hi carrot,
i hope you see this! i reset the values on the router which you told me to, and everything was great for a week, but then suddenly the network started going down again, two or three times a day, usually within 20 mins or so of the macbook airport joining the network.
do you have other recommendations? anyone else?
again, many thanks!

  • After Leopard Update this AM, My Airport Card is Disabled!

I ran the small Leopard update this morning. After a reboot, my 24" iMac's (aluminum) airport card is disabled. Mac OS X 10.5 says that no airport card is installed. I tried rebooting again, but no luck. This is totally unacceptable. I have never had such issues with Apple before. My only reprieve was to plug in an ethernet cable. Under "About This Mac" it does not show an Airport card is installed any longer. Please help!

Just found a solution to the problem with this post:
"Can you guys having problems check if the AppleAirPort2.kext is still present in your /System/Library/Extensions folder? It is an older Tiger-only AirPort driver that is no longer used on Leopard. You can simply delete it, or move it aside by changing the extension to something besides .kext. See if that fixes your problem."
I removed this file and without restarting, AirPort appeared again.

  • Windows CS3 Programs Freeze When Opening Files

Windows CS3, all programs freeze when trying to open files by going through the file menu.
Able to open files when navigating with windows explorer then right clicking on file and choosing "open with"
Windows XP Professional SP3, 4 Gb Ram Quad Core Processor.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled CS3 (Design Premium)
Have deleted photoshop settings file and tried using photoshop.
Any time I try to open a new file or existing file by going through the file menu the program freezes and must be terminated using the task manager.

    Erika,
I wish you had posted that last night. LOL I'm glad it worked for you and I will tell anyone who has this problem to try that before they try my fix. I was starting to have other problems like inDesign corrupting images.
    Here's how I fixed it,
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO RISK HAVING TO REFORMAT YOUR PC.
    1. Backup entire pc
    2. Deactivate Creative Suite 3 (or whatever application you are having a problem with)
    3. Uninstall problem application or suite, then uninstall everything by adobe.
    4. Search PC for all folders and files with "adobe", no quotes, in the name.
    5. Delete all folders and files with "adobe", no quotes, in the name.
    6. Restart PC
    7. Run ccleaner and also run the registry fix.
    8. Restart PC.
    9. Backup registry.
    10. Scan registry for "adobe", no quotes. Delete every instance of "adobe", no quotes making sure the reference is truly "adobe" and not something else.
    11. Restart PC.
    12. Install adobe suite or application.
    13. Install any other adobe application you may need.
    Worked for me, but
I DO NOT   RECOMMEND THIS UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO RISK HAVING TO REFORMAT YOUR PC.

  • How to access group policy in windows 8 home premium, not 8.1 to disable snipping tool

how do I access group policy to disable the snipping tool in windows 8 home premium? client has not installed update 8.1. client is trying to save pictures to pictures album, but it also saves a screenshot to the documents folder as well regardless
of what save method is used.
    thanks.

You can disable the Snipping Tool by creating the below registry setting
    (save as a .REG file)
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\TabletPC]
    "DisableSnippingTool"=dword:00000001
    ref: http://gpsearch.azurewebsites.net/Default.aspx?PolicyID=2426
I am not aware of any Snipping Tool feature which automatically saves the snip, as a file.
(there are other utilities available which can perform similar functions)

  • Windows 7 Crashes/Freezes when playing ANY Video files

lets see can anyone get their head around this one as it is driving me round the bend.
So... I have a media centre PC connected to my HDTV by VGA cable. I ran the PC on XP for a long time but last December, I upgraded it to Windows 7
    along with my laptop.
Cue 5 months of seamless media usage and network integration - it
worked like a dream and I played both HD and SD content with ease.
About two weeks ago, I was watching an HD '.mkv' file in Windows Media Centre and about 10 minutes into the video, the video file just Froze - both the video and the audio. I had to power down and restart the machine and started the video file again. About
5 minutes after re-starting the video file, it hung again (not at the same place in the video). I then went and watched the video on my laptop where
    it worked fine.
A few days after this (first time I had used it again since it hung up) I began watching an SD '.avi' file. About 1 minute into the video the display lost it's signal (the little built in 'no signal' graphic came up) and after a further 15 seconds, the audio
    cut out as well.
This latter behaviour is now happening every single time I try to watch any kind of SD or HD video of any file extention. This problem is also independant of what video player I use (windows media centre and windows media player classic) After a minute or so
the display cuts out and the audio quickly follows it.
Suffice to say, I was a little annoyed but knowing a good bit about computers I
decided to try and solve the problem taking the following steps.
    1) I uninstalled all my codecs and reinstalled the latest version of the K-Lite Codec pack. The latest version has support for windows 7 so I doubt its a compatibility issue here. After doing this the problem still persisted, exactly the same as before.
    2) I checked the date of the drivers for my video card (MSI nVidia 6200) and seen that they were dated sept 2009. I went onto the nVidia site and found the latest win7 drivers dated april 2010 - I installed these but still the problem is there.
    3) I then thought, maybe its a problem with the actual video card hardware itself. When I built my machine the parts supplier accidentally
sent me two of the same video card so I swapped out the existing one for a brand spanking new version of the same card. The problem is still EXACTLY the same.
So yes -I am rather annoyed and frustrated at the moment as I have absolutely no idea what is wrong with the machine and how it went from working to not working almost overnight.
I'd like to add also that the display is perfect when doing anything else on the computer - I can surf, play youtube videos, listen to music etc and it is absolutely no problem.
Put on a video and it cuts out the display like I have explained.
    halp.

    Hello Tim,
I decided to do a clean install, a fresh new installation of windows and all its updates, I didn't get the option of
    install SP1 yet.
After that I only installed Catalyst drivers: 11.5 and Realtek HD audio drivers, all downloaded on May 24 2011.
Then latest FFDShow and MPC-HC to test, both x64 versions Nothing else installed.
Only a fresh copy of windows with its updates and those mentioned drivers.
To my surprise, it happened a gain.
It still crashes after a while when playing MKV videos.
It's weird, because it doesn't happen with avi's or mp4's.
So, there must be something wrong with one of windows updates that creates this windows FREEZE.
Also there is no possibility to find out what error it is in "Event Viewer" as nothing gets recorded there. Anyone could
    advise?
    Thanks

  • Windows PC's freeze when they click on one of my webpages

I just created my website and all pages seem to be fine except one. Several Windows users say that their computers freeze up when accessing this page. I don't have a PC to test this but wonder if it might be because it has too many graphics.... I have one Quicktime Video, 3 photo albums, several hyperlinks to Amazon. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
    The page is
    http://web.mac.com/christinebecksted/iWeb/Site%202/Odds-n-Ends.html
    Any help is much appreciated!

I have a similar problem. I have videos on my site and everything works fine on macs and when it is viewed on a PC the videos play fine but if you try to scroll down the page the video duplicates itself and sort of freezes the whole page and you can not view anything below the first video.
    Here's my site:

  • Windows 8.1 freezing when streaming media

    Hi Guys,
Every time I stream any content such as youtube or netflix then the streaming freezes and stutters. The only thing that has been changed is the update to windows 8.1 last night.
Can anyone tell me how to re-install Windows 8? A step by step if that's possible?

    Hi,
Actually, if you want to re-install Windows 8, you need Windows 8 Installation image, you can refer to the link below for more detail:
How to perform a clean installation of Windows:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/clean-install
In addition, for your problem, it seems like graphic driver problem. Firstly, try to disable
GPU rendering in Advanced of Internet options.
Secondly, please try to reinstall or upgrade your Graphic driver for test.

  • Windows 8.1 freezes when playing silverlight after windows updates

    Hi
Silverlight has been working fine for years. Yesterday 36 windows updates were installed (and took more than half an hour to complete).
Following the update if I go to a page in internet explorer with a sliverlight movie the whole operating system freezes and I have to reboot. This is not just Netflix (which still works fine in Chrome). It also happened with a test movie on a MS Silverlight
    site.
I used your fixit wizard to no avail. I also manually uninstalled Silverlight and reinstalled it and cleared all caches, also without success.
I also noticed (you would after having to reboot 7 times) that rebooting takes an awfully long time just to get to the log in screen now, with over 30 seconds looking at a black screen prior to the first blues screen. I seem to remember MS heralding this
    as a quick boot OS
    Kind regards
    Jonathan
    jc

    Following on:
ran sfc,ex /scannow and it checked the system file but did not stop the pc from freezing
I uninstalled Internet Explorer 11 and reinstalled it and tried Silverlight again and the pc froze again.
I think the only sensible solution is to uninstall Internet Explorer 11 and start using chrome from now on.
Wish I could do that with the OS too.
Thanks for all your help guys.

  • (Running Windows 7 Home Premium) When Firefox 4.0 hangs (forcing a shutdown) or crashes (the screen has even gone to black) my windows fail to restore most of the time.

On the occasions when the windows fail to restore, I usually see a blank start page with something to the effect of "about:restore" or "about:restore session" in the URL line. I've tried pressing enter, but it didn't help. Other times, I've immediately tried going to the History menu, but the "Restore Previous Session" menu pick is faded out. I followed the help posted here to activate the restore windows feature, but the windows still fail to restore most of the time. I'm not a techie, so I'd really appreciate some easy to understand help.

The DMP file is inconclusive. You could run driver verifier to find the underlying issue but WPR is often easier.
In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652
Help with installation (if needed) is here
When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage, CPU usage, Disk IO.
If you problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry)  Please configure your as per the below snip
    Click Start
It will reboot 3 t imes and record the data to a file and tell you its name and location.
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.
These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).
Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
know what it is you probably are not overclocking.
Since it is more likely to be a driver please run verifier first.
1-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)
If verifier does not find the issue we can move on to this.
2-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)

  • Error 2738 on Window XP Home Edition when loading Blackberry User Tools

Uhg, I am so frustrated!  I received an internal error 2738, could not access VBscript when I tried to load the software with my new Blackberry Curve 8330 Smartphone.  I tried registering the vbscript.dll file and received an error DllregisterServer in vbscript.dll failed. Return code was: 0x80004005.  I have tried to register as the administrator by following these directions: click on the start button then click on run then type cmd and press enter. From the command prompt type cd\ , then type cd windows\system32, then type regsvr32 vbscript.dll and press enter.  It didn't work either.  Does anyone have any idea how I can get the darn software on my computer!

  • Freezes when video card is installed

Hi. I have a lenovo 3000 J115 with vista buisness.  I recently put a GeForce 8600gts in the PCIe x16 slot on the motherboard.  The computer starts up, but after about 10 min the computer freezes and then i have to shut it down.  I have searched on the internet and really haven't found anything.  The motherboard has a GeForce 6100 integated into the motherboard.  I have disabled the integrated graphics in device manager.  I have also went under the bois and changed the video settings to PCI.  I have also recently upgraded the power supply to a 400watt, which would have plenty of power for the graphics card.  Any help would be appriciated. Thank you.

I'm not too sure this will be any help, but I'll throw it out there to you. Check your Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel  (or whatever it's called in Vista... I use XP) and see if there are any previous drivers listed there for your 6100. If so, remove them.
I've had a post here for several days... with no solution. I'm about to help my sister-in-law out with a graphics issue (similar situation and she, too, currently has the 6100). Since I don't own a Lenovo I thought I could get assistance here ahead of time. I've spent considerable time on their website as well. And I'm still waiting.
    Good luck.

  • WRT54Gv.5 new firmware crashes when airport card is used, after changing beacon interval

That basically says it: resetting the beacon interval to 50 and the RTS and fragmentation interval to 2304 worked beautifully for a week - and then, bam, we were right back where we started - namely that every time our new macbook joins the network (otherwise occupied only by a hp dv1000, running xp), the network crashes and i have to unplug the router, wait, and plug it back in to get the network back up again.
    Hoping someone can help me!
    thanks
    rachel

    hi carrot,
i hope you see this! i reset the values on the router which you told me to, and everything was great for a week, but then suddenly the network started going down again, two or three times a day, usually within 20 mins or so of the macbook airport joining the network.
do you have other recommendations? anyone else?
    again, many thanks!

  • Windows 8.1 freezes when I am sending messages to Xbox Live friends

When I spend an X amount of time in messages, specifically sending messages to Xbox Live friends, my mouse moves slowly. When that happens my PC crawls to a halt and I cannot exit the app nor can I go back to Desktop.
    Any solutions?

    Hi,
A slow system reaction normally because of over use of system memory and high usage of CPU, to confirm this, open the taks manager in this way:
1.type “task manager” at the search box, open task manager, then click “performance” tag to check the memory and CPU usage by right clicking at the application, then stop this one.
2.if the usage stands on a high percentage, go to the details tag to stop the applications that cost high resources.
Besides, I suggest to go to the Xbox site to check the minimum requirement:
Download speed: 3 megabits per second
Upload speed: 0.5 megabits per second
    Ping speed:Less than 150 milliseconds
And other requirements you can find it here to check the details for Xbox:
