Windows XP installation on Satellite L300 11G

Hello,
I have a problem installing windows XP on my Toshiba Satellite L300 11G.
It does not recognize the SATA HDD. SO I downloaded the files that were needed (Intel Storage....) and then I get an error: iaStor is corrupted. I am pretty new in computing so I do not know if I downloaded the right thing. Please if someone could guide me trough and give me a link to download the correct file.
And does that message come only if I fail in choosing the correct driver when asked?? Or is there something else I am doing wrong...??
Please help. I am trying to fix this for several days, and I bought my laptop a few days ago and I need it for business. I would appreciate your help a lot.
Thanks.

Come on buddy... Please dont mix everything!!!
*_Regarding the Toshiba Vista Recovery CD:_*
If you want to create the Toshiba Vista Recovery DVD and want to burn the preinstalled Toshiba image on a DVD then use the Recovery Disc Creator tool.
And YES, the user manual contains the info how to do this because Ive checked it and found the needed info!!!
*_Regarding the new XP installation_*
If you want to install the XP OS on this notebook, then you have to include the SATA driver like described by Gipsyman above!!!
The XP OS installation will format the HDD or partition and will erase the installed operating system.
Therefore it would be advisable and recommended to create the Toshiba recovery DVD firstly before installing the XP.
I think this should be clear.

  • Re: IMPORTANT - How to install Windows 2000 on a Satellite L300-16M (PSLB0E) ?

    Hello,
I'm an independent developper and absolutely need to install several operating systems on my *Satellite L300-16M (PSLB0E)* : it's very important for me because I've to check working of piece of software under every environment for real (not using solutions like VMware, for example).
Well, so, at this time, I've done an Acronis TrueImage backup of original full HDD, then deleted original WinRE and Data partitions, reduced and moved at beginning of disk the Vista partition... and installed System Commander 8 to prepare my future multi-boot. At this time, all sounds right : Vista works perfectly !
Also, note I've configured SATA in Setup BIOS to be in "Compatibility" mode ; just because I don't need AHCI in my type of use !
Second stage : now, *I have to install Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) FR*. Of course, I'm aware that the blocking point is the SATA/AHCI driver, wich is absent in the Win 2K CD... So, I've just made a new CD integrating these drivers using nLite ; at this time, I've tried using driver from Toshiba's XP Drivers page and Intel site about Intel 82801 HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controlleur (ICH8M).
But it doesn't work completely : the Win 2K install starts... All drivers are well loaded (including the AHCI ones) and just after this loading step, I get a black screen with just a blink cursor at top left of screen... indefinitively :-(
I've also tried to switch SATA to "AHCI" mode in BIOS and it's the same.
So, what to do next ?
Do I've used the wrong AHCI drivers ? Do I need to incorporate the maximum of Toshiba Drivers (about chipset, display, sound) in the Windows 2000 install CD using nLite ? I mean until the CD capacity is not reached.
Is there a way or tutorial to install Windows 2000 somewhere ? For XP, I think it will more easy because SP3 seems to support AHCI, but, just now, my problem is to install Windows 2000 : even if Microsoft wants to leave-it, there are a lot of professionals who still use-it... And my job, as developer, is to do my software works on this OS too ! *I really need to find a way to install it on this computer !!!*
Awaiting your lighted replies and all tips or idea which could help me to achieve the task.
In one word : HELP ! oops !

Thanks xaver, but I've already tried stormng-20070827133046.zip and it remains the same :(
About all driver ? Oh, in fact, I'll try to see if the XP ones work and if not I'll have a not-fully working Win 2K, but it will be enough for me to test my programs... I hope, at least, I'll be able to do display driver work !
Well, seeing I don't succeed using Intel/Toshiba drivers and nLite, I'm trying at this time to go through another way, installing Win2K in a VMware, then forcing install of the Toshiba AHCI driver, then doing a TrueImage of this and restauring in the Toshiba ! I'll see...
However, if someone has an idea, don't hesitate.
EDIT : I'm now at the step to try to force the Store Manager driver from Toshiba (the one given for this model under XP), launching iata_cd.exe and after some second I see a message saying that this OS (Windows 2000) is not supported by this driver... So, from now, I clearly know why this driver failed when I gone through the nLite-customized Win2K CD install directly on the Satellite :-(
So, this change the game : does it exist a Windows 2000 compatible driver for the Satellite L300-16M's AHCI Controller ??? This is the question !
If you have the answer, very thanks to tell me, of course...

  • Windows 7 Installation on Satellite L70-B-126

    Hello,
I recently bought a new Satellite L70-B-126 laptop computer, that shipped with Win8.1 preinstalled.
However, quite a few of the programs I regularly use do not work on any OS newer than Win7, so I decided I wanted to make my PC dual-bootable, with Win8.1 and Win7.
I have bought a Win7 license key way back when they could still be obtained officially, and ave downloaded an ISO file, from which installation media (DVD or USB drive) can be created.
How should I go about installing Windows 7 on this computer, to create a mlti-boot setup with pre-installed Windows 8.1?
    Markus Gelbmann

First of all you need to create additional partition on the HDD for Win 7 installation.
Additionally you would need to disable the secure boot option in BIOS because in case the secure boot option isn’t disabled, you will not be able to boot from external sources.
The BIOS mode should be also set from UEFI to CSM mode

  • Windows 7 installation on Satellite C55-A-1HN

    Hi
Hope someone can help me. I bought a Toshiba Satellite C55-A-1HN laptop which has Windows 8 on and Im wanting to put Windows 7 on the laptop but keep getting a error saying checking media fail then booting back to Windows 8.
I want Windows 7 on cause I cant get away with Windows 8.
    Ty for reading this

    Hello
At first you must check if your notebook model is supported for Win7 and if Win7 drivers, tools and utilities are offered for download.
Check it please on Toshiba download page http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Before you do anything create recovery media using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator. It will be Win8 recovery media. One day if you want to have original factory settings again use this disc for recovery image installation. After recovery media creation you can start with Win7 OS installation.

  • Windows 7 Installation on Satellite C50-A-1JM possible?

    Thanks for reading my topic.
I have bought a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-1JM and I cannot install Windows 7 on it.
I upgraded BIOS to V1.30 still after that, I have only the option Secure Boot to disable or enable
There's no option to switch to CSM or legacy, as I know this MUST be done before I can install Windows 7.
Is there any chance to install a Win7 on this Laptop?
    Thanks
    Elmar

Thank you, yes, you are right, there are really no drivers to download.
    With a modified USB-stick
    [http://www.com-magazin.de/praxis/windows-7/windows-7-uefi-pc-installieren-7531.html?page=4_setup-stick-fuer-uefi-pcs-erstellen]
I got the laptop started to installation process, but shortly after loading files there always approaches a red stripe at the top of the laptop and windows installation freezes.
It doesnt matter, if it is installed from the usb oder from original MS DVD, same error, same freeze
So, no chance to downgrade - then I will send it back.
    Thank you!

  • Windows 7 Installation on Satellite C50-A-1JT

    Hi everyone,
I've bought a brand new Sattelite C50-A-1JT PSCJGE from Romania with no OS.
First i've tried for about a day to install Windows 7 and it won't boot, neither on DVD neither on USB, only Windows 8, but after i've searched about it, i found out that i have to change my bios settings from UEFI to CSM Boot and disable Secue Boot.
NOT A CHANCE. Intead of a normal BIOS i only have Toshiba Setup Utility and i have only the Boot Order option and Secure Boot, that didn't helped me.
I thought that my BIOS is out-dated (1.10)
So went to the Toshiba Website and searched for an BIOS Update and the only one was this:
    [BIOS 1.30-WIN for Satellite C55-A, Satellite C50-A|http://www.toshiba.com.ro/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?LNG=27&service=SE&selC ategory=2&selFamily=2&selSeries=312&selProduct=793 4&selShortMod=4628&language=47&selOS=46&selType=4& yearupload=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&m ode=allMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&count ry=all&selectedLanguage=47&type=4&page=1&ID=90346& OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42]
    ...but unafortunatelly, it isn't available.
So, i there any chance to have Windows 7 on this laptop?... 'cause i hate 8

Many Win8 machines are supported for Win7 so, generally speaking, you should not have some big problems. As you already wrote you must at first change BIOS settings - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm
After doing this restart your notebook and press F12. When boot menu is shown on the screen put Win7 installation disc into optical disc drive, choose CD/DVD as first bootable device and press ENTER. ODD should start to read Win7 installation disc and setup will be shown on the screen.
On this way I have installed Win7 on my Satellite U940.
Please try again and post some feedback.

  • Windows XP installation on Satellite U300

I need to downgrade my notebook from vista to XP pro. After slipstreaming the new sata drivers into XP I installed windows xp.
After installing all the drivers (and chipset drivers) i have two questionmarks left. (other devices)
I realy don't have any idea what these two devices are.
When I look in the device manager it shows
    - devices instance id :ACPI\TOS620A\2&DABA3FF&0
    and the other device shows:
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_444E&SUBSYS_444E8086&REV_01\4&23F 5EDAD&0&00E0
Any suggestions? And/or new drivers for wxp?

    Hi
    One question:
Did you install all XP drivers as mentioned in the Installation instruction??
The installation instruction can be found on the Toshiba driver page. You have to follow the installation order.
By the way; the ACPI\TOS620A\2&DABA3FF&0 seem to be an Toshiba HDD shock protection driver.
In my opinion you could find it in the HDD Protection Utility.
However, the installation instruction should be cheeked and you should follow it!

    Hi,
I Bought my computer without OS, I installed XP and drivers (but I couldnt find any info about proper sequence of installing drivers - is there any?)
    All is working without hibernation.
Power saver dosnt see this function
Turning off power saver and turning this option in XP on (it is in the window with screensavers - I dont know proper name) results an error and info than another process is using hibernation
    Are there any drivers missing?

  • Satellite L300 - after Win8 load DVD drive is not working

I have just loaded Windows 8 on my Satellite L300. The DVD no longer works with an error message 39 it says the driver is corrupt. Also external attached DVD's are not recognised. I cannot find a driver to reload.
    Any suggestions.

    Check this article:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?pf=true&soid=3516888
If the TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator or TOSHIBA Disc Creator are installed on the HDD, there might be a issue between Win 8 and mentioned software
So uninstall these tools, then restart your PC using the Power-->Restart option in Windows 8. Your CD/DVD should be accessible now.

    Hi fardei,
If you use the HDD recovery to reinstall Windows, your whole computer will not be formatted. Only the first partition will be deleted and thats all. Check the Toshiba document how the HDD recovery option works.
Using the Toshiba recovery disk creator tool allows you to create a recovery disk. Normally on the first start up where you purchased the notebook, you did get the following message:
    +Important INFORMATION+
+your system is equipped with hard disk recovery system. if you need to repair+
+your computer by restoring it to original factory state, you can do it directly+
+from harddisk (press F8 when you boot your computer, choose "Repair your computer"+
+and follow the menue instructions) or create a bootable Recovery Disc Medium for this purpose.+
+Toshiba recommends you to create Recovery Disc Medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to ensure+
+hat you are able to restore your computer to the original factory installed state, even if your computer+
    +gets seriously damaged+

    Hi Patrick,
To be honest your posting is very hard to understand and I dont know what you mean exactly.
According your posting it seems that you need some driver and you can get all drivers here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Regarding the FN keys you need Toshiba Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Everything can be downloaded from official Toshiba page.

    Hello
    > I INSTALL WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM USING TOSHIBA PRODUCT RECOVERY DISK
I doubt you have installed Windows 7 from Toshiba recovery disk
As far as I know Satellite L300 was only delivered with Vista or XP. Satellite L300 wasnt on the market anymore at Windows 7 was released.
I think you have to buy an official Windows 7 disk with product key. Such Windows 7 installation is genuine and you will not have any problems.

  • Satellite L300 laptop won't load Windows

I have a Satellite L300 model number PSLB0A-00L022 running windows Vista.
The problem is that it won't load Windows. It starts ok and I can access the boot manager and the setup utility and that's it. It just stops loading.
After researching the problem I ran a drive fitness test and the result was error code 0x70. After looking up the code Im under the impression that I need to erase the disk. I have no problem with that.
My question is - if I run the windows recovery wizard will it fix my problem? Will I have to re install vista at all? Any advice is appreciated!!

Hello Jane and welcome in Toshiba forum
After reading your posting I must say that best and easiest solution for you is to reinstall operating system using original Toshiba recovery DVD. This DVD contains operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba specific tools and utilities. After recovery image installation you will have out-of-box state and clean preinstalled OS.
Yes, this should fix your problem. Please note: when you do this all saved data will be deleted.
Do you have some important data saved on your notebook?
If not use this disc reinstall Vista and everything should be ok again.

  • Satellite L300 - Can't upgrade to Windows 7

Attempted to upgrade my Satellite L300 laptop (running Office Home and Student 2007) and got as far as the final Driver installation "Realtek High definition Audio Driver 6.0.1.5904" at which point the upgrade froze, so I could not progress to inserting the Windows 7 Home Premium DVD. I managed to reboot after some difficulty and then Restored my system to the pre-upgrade point.
When I now insert the Toshiba Upgrade DVD, I am confronted with the screen relating only to the Realtek driver upgrade.
Any suggestions how to get passed this hurdle. My computer is still functioning on Vista

    Hi
Have you already tried to update the sound driver yourself? Please try to download and install the latest Realtek driver from the Realtek Homepage. Install the new driver and reboot the notebook. Now you can try to upgrade again.
Otherwise follow the instructions posted by Akuma.
But I must say sometimes the drivers must be update before you can upgrade to Windows 7 and by the way, maybe this is useful for you:

  • Satellite L300 - Can I purchase Windows 7 from Microsoft

My Satellite L300 came with Vista Home Premium. I formatted the drive and installed Windows XP to enable me to run a software not compatible with Vista.
Now Windows wants me to activate the OS.
I now want to purchase Windows 7 from Microsoft.
Will I be able to install Windows 7? or will the Vista product key tied to the system reject the installation?

    > Will I be able to install Windows 7?
Definitely. Ive installed Win7 32bit on friends L300 and it works perfectly. Much better than Vista.
For Win7 activation you need valid product key that you can get from Microsoft. Vista key placed at the sticker will not help you at all.
