Windows xp/itunes 7.7 iphone problem

I have a first-generation phone, and a dell running windows xp. When I open itunes 7.7 and connect the phone (via USB) a window comes up recognizing the iphone, and attempts to view the photos with several programs (MS Word, a scanner program, and a couple of other options.) Itunes then freezes, and stops responding so that I have to manually close it in the task manager list. Itunes never even gets a chance to recognize the phone because of the freezing issue. I never had an issue with this before I upgraded to 7.7.
It seems like a windows xp issue, but I don't know where I can turn the setting off to stop recognizing the phone and trying to open the photo files? Has this happened to anyone else?

Go to control panel / auto play / scroll down to devices
and change options to take no action

  • TS1538 Windows 7 & iTunes hate my iPhone 4S; HELP!

Windows 7 will not recognize my iPhone 4S nor will iTunes. I've followed the directions at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 & nothing has helped. I uninstalled MobileMe, but that didn't help. Other ideas?

Temporarily disable any security software on the computer, then attempt to sync content to the device.
If that resolves the problem, contact whomever supports the security software (not Apple) and inquire how to prevent their software from intereferring with iTunes.

  • ITunes Purchase on iPhone - Problem syncing

I recently bought a comedy album from the UK iTunes store (I am UK based) using my iPhone. Everything worked fine, the files were downloaded onto the iPhone and I can play them fine. However when I now try to sync the iPhone with iTunes on my iMac I keep getting an error message saying that the the drive on my iMac where the iTunes library is located, is unable to be written or read from, and the sync stops.
I have looked at the folder referenced and it has permissions for both read and write access, and I am able to move files to and from the drive via the finder.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone able to suggest a way that I can solve the problem.
If I do a restore, will I lose the newly purchased files on the iPhone? if so will I be able to download the purchased files again from the iTunes store to my iMac/iPhone?
    Thanks,
    Chris

I've got the exact same issue and it's bloody annoying, I get all sorts of errors and timeouts trying to sync music from the Wireless iTunes Store back to my computer. Right now I have a "The iPhone 'XXXX" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found"
I've done hard resets and such, doesn't seem to do anything, unfortunately a restore will wipe your songs, so you'll have to persist trying, as sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, it seems to be okay with one song, but when it's more it seems to Time out.
Very annoying. I'm starting to get all these problems with my phone that I never used to, calls not coming through, syncing not working etc.

  • Itunes 10.1 iphone problems

i got the iphone 3gs and im having problems. i downloaded the new itunes update and now im trying to put music on my iphone and when i plug it in the only thing that pops up is the camera. so i dont know if its just mine or anyone elses and if anyone can help me

Thanks to recmd for directing me to the solution for iTunes not "seeing" my iPhone!!
https://discussions.apple.com/message/11761418?messageID=11761418is the link, but I will recap it here:
Win XP machines that are seeing the iPhone as a camera or portable drive, but not showing in iTunes should do this - takes 5 minutes!!
    Connect iPhone
    Open Control Panel
    double click on System
    choose Hardware tab
    click Device Manager
find iPhone - probably under Imaging Devices
    right click iPhone
    choose Properties
    click driver tab
    choose Update Driver
select "Install from list or specific location" and click Next
choose "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" and click next
there should be 2 drivers listed; highlight Apple Mobile Device driver
    click ok
    iPhone should now connect
close out of Device Manager and Control Panel
open iTunes and see your iPhone appear!!
You may have to do this with all phones that you sync.
Hope this helps - it worked for the phones in our family!

  • Neither my windows, nor itunes see my iphone.i ve already turned both iphone and laptop off and on but nothing happens

    help please

I had my 2nd gen Ipod jailbroken about 2 years ago, and 'succesfully' restored it.
However when my brother tried to restored his, it kept coming up connect to itunes symbol, and itunes would not read it.
After a while the ipod would no longer turn on (not from lack of charging).
Sadly once you put jailbreak on it voids the warranty, meaning you cannot try and get a new Iphone, ipod etc. as you installed software that is not covered by Apple.
There are a few videos on youtube showing you how to succesfully fix your jailbroken (item).

  • When trying to run after install: iTunes has encountered a problem and...

I just got my new Nano yesterday. I downloaded and installed the latest version fine, but when I try to run the app I get the the patented Windows error:
ITunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    Send - Don't send
So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, same thing.
Then I tried to install two earlier versions of 6. But I get the same exact error.
Also, when I try to open Quicktime. Nothing happens. All I get is the hour glass for about 2 seconds. But quicktime does not open.

hmmmm. i'm no great expert on MusicMatch installation troubleshooting. but we might be able to stop MusicMatch launching for you when a CD is inserted.
it sounds like there is a Windows AutoPlay setting on the CD drive, so that MusicMatch is set to launch every time you insert a Music CD. so let's try changing that setting.
in "My Computer", right-click on the CD drive and select "properties". click on the "AutoPlay" tab. in the pulldown menu, select "Music CD".
do you have MusicMatch set to launch? if so, change the action to something else (or select "prompt me each time ..." instead), and click OK.
does MusicMatch still launch when you insert a CD after doing that?

Hi, I download the latest version of itunes and i have problem now to sync my iphone with my computer, I have windows 7 home premium service pack 1, can somebody tell me how to fix it. thanks

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.
    Regards.

Hi all,I have just purchased new iphone but have difficulty in completing the itunes download with message : problem with Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.
Would appreciate help...its driving me up the wall!!

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

How i fix the problem on windows 7  itunes could not connect to the iphone because an invalid response was received from the device

take a look at https://discussions.apple.com/message/24243668#24243668.  i had this problem and that solved it for me.

  • When I plug in my iphone 4s to sync to my windows computer it opens itunes but when it prepares to sync I keep getting a message that says itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. But this only happens when I connect the iphone.

I am able to connect my ipod and even just play itunes sucessfully. I have re installed itunes and the same problem presisits.

Make sure that your music is in the format supported by the iPhone. I use either MP3 or AAC.
A friend had the same problem a while back. All his music was in the WMA format and is therefore not playable on the iPhone and would not copy. Once he converted his songs to MP3 they copied to his iPhone without problem.

  • I am experiencing two problems with iTunes on my iPhone 5s.

I am experiencing two problems with iTunes on my iPhone 5s.
    Issue 1: iTunes Match
Some song playback is merging songs. I select “Song A” to be played and midway through the song it begins playing “Song B” however when I look at my phone it indicates that “Song A” is still playing even though the actual music is not “Song A”. I searched the Apple Support Community as well as the internet and this seems to be an ongoing issue back to 2012 that has not been resolved. All of the “fixes” that are provided do not work. For example, update/sync iTunes Match, delete the song from your iPhone and re-download from the cloud or delete the song from your iTunes including the iCloud and re-download. None of which worked. I even tried to complete erase the song from my computer hard drive and restarted my computer and then re-downloaded the song and it was still not working.
    Issue 2: iTunes Preview Track
I am unable to preview any music on iTunes through the iTunes app on my phone. I have signed out of my user ID and restarted my phone and then logged back in and it did not fix the problem. My iTunes Match and iTunes radio are allowing me to play music. My software is up-to-date.

Same problem here, Im running the latest version of iOS 7 on my iphone 5S (ipod 5S) bricked lol. It was working fine and then a mates baby grabbed my phone and dropped it (not very high) then it went off so i turned it on and BAM i got the grey backround with the apple logo on it so, I waited, Then it went to BSOD and got stuck in that loop, I then done a manual reset I was able to turn it off thats all. I tried restore in recovery mode with the latest itunes it come up with Unknown Error, error code (14) (something to do with unreconizable USB) tried many diffrent USB ports but sadly nothing, I then tried DFU mode with itunes still not working. Im really stuck on this one I need some assitance PLEASE! HELP!

  • I have installed iTunes on my new windows 7 dell laptop every time I start it it comes up with an error saying itunes has encountered a problem and it closes ? any answers have tried command prompt reset and it has not resolved it also un/reinstalled

I have installed iTunes on my new laptop OS Windows 7. I have two iphones, a 3rd gen nano and an ipod classic.
Since the install yesterday I keep getting an error message which itunes has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a soluion is available.
I have un and re installed and followed a command promt reset.
I still have the problem. Any ideas?

Ok. So I created a new account and iTunes did work. I went back into my original account and tried again and just to be more clear, after I open iTunes it asks me to accept or decline the agreement, I do that, then it says "updating library", and then one all the bars are full it closes and says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close."
okay, let's start working through the user-account-specific causes of this message.
one possibility is damaged itunes preference files in the user account in which you're getting the crash. (there's a different set of those in each different user account, which is how we can get crashes limited to a single user account.)
if that is what is going on, we can often get past this by rebuilding the preference files in the account that is crashing. for the preference files rebuild technique, see my reply to kusma in this post:

  • Itunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Iphone 4S not recognized in Windows and Itunes

I recently installed itunes 11.1.4 on my Windows 7 (64) laptop computer and my iphone 4S was no longer recognized in Windows or itunes. Previous versions of itunes had worked with no problems with this combination. I completely uninstalled itunes, apple software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour and apple application support and restarted the computer. When I attached the iphone, it was recognized by Windows. I reinstalled itunes only to find the iphone was no longer recognized in Windows or itunes again. When viewing the device in Device Manager, I discovered the yellow exclamation mark and proceeded to attempt to update the driver. Windows reported that it "cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." Repeated the uninstall and reinstall process with a new download of the itunes installer which produced the same result. Need help resolving this problem because I need to sync data on phone with data on computer.

    Hello JHHamlin,
Go through the section 5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed from the link below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Go through the above link in the sections which I am mentioning below and see if it fixes your issue.
    > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8
    * Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Driver
    * In the Device Manager window, right-click Universal Serial Bus controllers and choose Scan for hardware changes from the shortcut menu.
    * Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver> Browse my computer for driver software> Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer> Click the Have Disk button.
    * Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    * Double-click the "usbaapl" file
    * Click Open in the Have Disk window. Then, click Next and then Click Finish. Windows will install the driver.

  • I have a 4th generation iPod shuffle which does not show up in windows or iTunes. But my iPhone does any suggestions?

I have a 4th generation iPod shuffle which is not recognised in windows or iTunes when I connect to the computer , yet I have no problem when I connect my iPhone. I have installed the latest iTunes. Can anybody help me?

Thanks! But I actually figured it out! Right after I said something about the driver, I went into device mangager. Sure enough even though it did not show up as a drive letter the device manager said is was installed and working.
So I deleted the device out of device manager. Restarted and plugged it in. Although I go some weird error. It found the IPOD and now Itunes sees it.
I believe that killing the process would have done the same thing as you stated.
Thanks to all for taking the time to answer these issues. It beats the apple store or tech support.

Hi all.  I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
    Good luck…
