Windows XP + iTunes: (sync) photos not copied...cannot be displayed on ipod

Hello all,
I'm sorry if this is a known and solved issue but I'm really frustrated about it.
I have bought a brand new ipod Classic 80GB. My system is running Windows XP SP2 (up to date) and iTunes 7.5.0.20. I have an NTFS Hard Drive (2 Partitions, C and D) and a FAT32 Hard Drive (1 Partition, E).
Every time I try to sync my ipod through iTunes with a video or photo I get the following error message: "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod IPOD_NAME because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
What is this? I have followed the photo (and video) sync procedure to the letter. On my laptop (also Win XP SP2), iTunes works just fine! So there's nothing wrong with my photos/videos.
I looked around the Internet and found there's a similar issue in Windows Vista with RAID and/or NTFS. I do NOT have RAID or Vista.
It there a known bug also in Windows XP? Is there a fix expected?
I tried moving my photos on a USB FAT32 Stick but still I was unable to sync them with my ipod.
Any help or information will be much appreciated.

Near as I can tell, iTunes DOES NOT like a JPEG with an embedded color profile. I too have been seeing a simliar issue and did some troubleshooting last night to arrive at this conclusion.
Pictures exported from Adobe Lightroom would sync to my iPod Touch via iTunes without any issue. However, Pictures saved from Adobe Photoshop would fail with the error "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
This set me to looking at the differences in the JPEGS that Lightroom was creating vs. the ones that Photoshop was creating. I finally arrived on the inclusion of the color profile.
Pictures exported from Lightroom, while converted to the sRGB color space, did not include the profile in the image and sync via iTunes just fine. Photoshop, on the other hand, automatically includes the profile when saving as a JPEG and these pictures WILL NOT sync via iTunes. Even if you tell Photoshop to not include a color profile, it includes a piece of metadata that says the profile is not specified (which is distinctly different from Lightroom which omits the metadata entirely.)
Choosing File|Save for Web... (as opposed to File|Save As...) in Photoshop does not include any color profile (just like exporting from Lightroom) and syncs via iTunes just fine.
I'm very curious to know if the images that you (and others) are having problems sync have, for some reason, a color profile embedded in them. In Windows Explorer, you can right-click on a picture, choose Properties, select the Details tab and look for the Color representation property. My assumption is if it is blank, the picture will sync fine, but if it is anything else it will not sync.
It'd be great to get confirmation from Apple if this is indeed an issue - that JPEGs with embedded color profiles are not sync'd with iTunes. I'm going to do a few more tests today and see, if by chance, including a Mac color space on the image enables it to sync or not.

    Hello mobyash,
Have you tried converting each of these 8 tracks to a different file format and seeing if they will then sync to your iPod.  See this Apple support document for information and instructions on how to convert a song to a different format.

    Self explanatory.
You could try creating an iPod version of the films.
Use CTRL and B to display the Menu bar shown above. Alternatively, use the ALT key, followed by the F key, the W key and finally the I (eye) key - that's (menu)/File/Create New Version/Create iPod or iPhone version.

Right click the filename that won't download and selsct 'Get Info'. Look at the file path, does it have a //?// in it? That is a problem with Amazon downloads that prevent iTunes from finding the file. Use 'Add Folder' to add the album to your library and try syncing it again

for the avoidance of doubt, these files could not physically be on an external disk which isn't connected ? or could you have deleted the actual files from the iTunes music folder via explorer ?
what about the main iTunes music library ? do the files have a "!" next to them ? do you get a +*would you like to locate+* warning when you try to play them in iTunes ?

I am experiencing the same problem after upgrading to PSE13, but haven't found a solution yet.
TomWoodbridge proposes a workaround, see Re: iTunes Photo Sync with PhotoShop Elements Fails after PSE Update
Another permanent workaround (which doesn't require to copy the pse database every time you want to sync) is described here: Elements 13: Cannot synchronise photo albums in iTunes after upgrading from Elements 11
    Hope this helps.

  • Some items in the iTunes library were not copied because they could not be converted error

When I try to sync my iPhone with my Windows version of iTunes I get the error "Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPhone because one or more errors occurred."
The error for all 3 of the songs is: "iTunes could not copy "song name" to the iPhone because the file could not be converted."
The 3 songs are all songs that I have purchased from iTunes recently. One of them is just one song of an album that I purchased. If I go to my iPhone and download the songs from my purchased music section, they will download and play just fine. However, every time I sync the iPhone and iTunes I get the same error.
I am using iTunes10.6.3.25. I am running 6.0 iOS on the phone.
    Thanks!

I stumbled across this thread for the same issue.  I had 12 songs  that suddenly wouldn't sync from iTunes on my iMac to my iPhone 4.
I use iTunes Match and the missing songs were both purchased from iTunes and matched from CD's I had ripped.
Per Winnits I also ended up deleting them and downloading them to resolve the issue.
I took a screenshot of the error window ("Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPhone "My Name iPhone" because one or more errors occurred.") showing a list of the songs.  Then I disconnected my iPhone.
I then deleted each song (but NOT from iCloud) and sent the files to the trash.  The iCloud download icon immediately appeared and I clicked on it to download the song again.  A few of the song titles were the same, either from different artists or a couple of live and studio versions.  I deleted each one since you can't tell the specifics from the error message.
Then I reconnected my iPhone, let it sync and everything was fine, no more error message.  I've no idea what the issue was…perhaps a corrupt file, who knows?  I'm just glad it wasn't more than the dozen I ran into.
Hope that helps anyone that follows!

  • 'Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied..." Errors

I keep receiving the following errors when syncing content between my MacBook Pro and my Apple TV:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the Apple TV because they could not be found."
The items the error refers to are no longer on my MacBook Pro because I have deleted them. How can I get Apple TV to overlook, or bypass, the already deleted Podcasts?
    Thank you.

Ok, this is what seems to have happened. I deleted three podcasts without listening to them. The ATV didn't, however, delete them. I found this out when I redownloaded the podcasts that were causing me difficulty, and noticed that there were now two of each on the ATV.
Here's what I did. I completely deleted my small library of podcasts; removed the files from the iTunes library when prompted to do so. I resynced my library. All podcasts were gone ... except the three that were causing the problem. I resynced. This time the main titles for the podcasts were there, but the files "could not be read"; finally, I resynced, went away for 30 or some minutes, and voila, no more podcasts.
I will try to reload my podcast regulars later on.
    1. Delete all podcasts from iTunes
    2. Remove files when prompted to do so
    3. Resync Apple TV
    4. Walk away; go outside; enjoy the fresh air.
    5. Check your Apple TV
    6. If all is well, reload your podcasts; if not, try another resync.
    Hope it works for you.

  • Items in the itunes library were not copied

I recently upgraded my phone from an iphone 3GS to a 4S and synced to itunes. Some of my music is now not available on itunes. I get the message 'some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to the iphone because they could not be found'. These items have an exclamation mark next to them. All these items were listenable on my old iphone, and in itunes but they aren’t available on my new iphone and not in itunes anymore. When I right click any of these files in itunes I get the message 'the song could not be used because the original file could not be found'.

Some of your orignal files might have been moved or deleted from original location.  You just have to search your hard drive and see where those files are and right mouse click those file in iTunes library with exclamation mark, select Get Info and direct them to the right location.
