Windows XP not finding NTFS partition when connected to AEBS

Here is my setup:
I have the current AEBS with firmware 7.4.1 connected to a Windows XP w/SP3. I also have my Macbook Pro running wirelessly as well as another XP laptop. I have wireless connections, a bit slower than I had hoped as I get further away from the AE but its OK.
I also have an Acomdata Pure Drive 1tb connected to the AE. I partitioned the drive half HFS+ and half NTFS. I confirmed and re-confirmed that both partitions are OK by connecting them via USB to all of my machines.
When connected to AEBS, the hard drive appears as a shared device rather than as a hard disk on my Macbook pro, which was not what I expected but is ok. Only the HFS+ partition appears, which is as expected.
However, on both windows machines, the HFS+ partition is also the only one that appears, and the file structure under disk properties shows as FAT32! I've searched and have been unsuccessful in getting the XP machines to locate the NTFS partition. Can anyone help?
Mahalo,
Mike

Thanks again for the replies, and I have a follow up question. Apologies in advance since I am a noob with Macs.
I reformatted my USB drive with one HFS+ and one FAT32 partition. Works great on my Macbook (I formatted using Disk Utility), both partitions are visible as shared drives.
On one of my XP laptops, both partitions also appear, and I am able to copy files to both, even the HFS+ formatted partition. When I check formatting in My Computer, both partitions indicate FAT32. When I check formatting on my Mac, it indicates HFS+ and FAT32, respectively.
I expected that the Mac would be able to use both drives, but I expected that only the FAT32 drive would be write-accessible on the XP. So what did I mess up this time?
Mahalo,
Mike

    Hi LamboMong,
    just try this:
    http://refit.sourceforge.net
install, reboot twice and choose the Windows-Partition on next startup.
(The apple-bootloader doesn't display all bootable harddisks.
With rEFIt you can boot from all partitions/harddisks on your computer.)
I hope that will solve your problem.

  • Why am I getting an error message,"windows can not find(my Yahoo mail launch address)"when accessing Yahoo mail site?

Using WindowsXP, and e-mail via Yahoo, browser is Firefox 4.0.I get the following error message when accessing yahoo mail site:"http://us.f831.mail.yahoo.com/dc/launch?action=welcome&yy=1782408664&.rand=0qrsdp1o...Windows can not find(the above address is inserted here).make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again". After this message is displayed on my desktop it begins to fade, and the inbox of my yahoo mail is then displayed..I am able to work all functions of the mail without problems.( I might add at this point that i access the mail program via a desktop icon). When I close out of the program the error message box with the error described above is displayed again on my desktop.I must click on the "X" to remove it.I can access my yahoo mail via Internet Explorer with no problem,as well as accessing via my yahoo home page.

Here's an image of the ERROR Message. I'm not sure how this forum works -- if this image is an attachment or if it shows up in the body of this reply.

After upgrading the itunes, I can not find my ipad when it connects to the PC
Before that, I can see an botton said my ipad. And then I can click it to operate my ipad

    Try this
Go into the control panel. Add/remove programs. Uninstall iTunes, Apple mobile device service, apple application support. Then go out and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again.
There seems to be a glitch with a recent update and one way to overcome it is to just start over. If that doesn't work there are more in depth things you can do.

  • Windows Could not find the Driver for your Apple iPod USB Device (5G 30GB)

    I have a 8GB iPod Nano. My roommate has a 30GB 5G Video. Black.
My iPod syncs flawlessly. His is not recognized by Windows or iTunes. Every time we plug in the iPod, it prompts us for the driver. I tried to install the update apple mentions through the windows process, but after going through the tedious Windows Genuine Verification process, I was told that the update didn't apply to my computer.
We use a Lenovo Thinkpad T60p, which shipped with Windows Vista Business.
We are running iTunes 7.3.1.3, and there are no windows updates available for the computer.
    I have...
    ...reset
...reinstalled 7.3.1.3 (over and over and over)
...tried different USB ports. (Early on, we saw it once after swapping ports).
...tried turning off the ability of the computer to 'Turn this device off to save power."
I have also verified that the iPod works on my work Dell Lattitude D620 running XP, and that it's not the cord, as we've used the cord that came with my Nano as well.
So, the problem seems to be with vista, as many people seem to have had. The best thread I found that deals with this was http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=995793.
But even after having tried everything, I still have an unrecognizable iPod.
When I run iPod diagonostics, everything seems okay, except for the iPod connection, which says failed. I've had difficulty working with the iPod service under Computer/Device Manager - it doesn't ever seem to stop or start, with the iPod plugged in or not.
And interestingly enough, the FAT32 external harddrive that I use to back up my data exhibits exactly the same problem ("Windows could not find the driver for your USB Mass Storage Device). This device worked great in XP, and even odder, I have a FAT32 partition of the main HD as a swap space between my VistaOS and my Ubuntu installation.
Do I have to chalk this up to another issue with Windows Vista? What bothers me there is that you're a ping-pong between windows support and apple support - no one really owns up the problem.

Bill, I've been stuck in this loop for 3 months since buying a new laptop with Vista Basic. I've tried everything to no avail. I don't know what else to do apart from buying a cheap PC running XP. Let me know if you manage to find a solution and I'll do the same.

  • Windows could not set a partition active on disk 0. error 0X80300024

I followed the "Step-by-Step: Basic Windows Deployment" Link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd349348%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
after creating aotounattend.xml file, I went to step2: building reference installation. however, recieving the below error message:
"windows could not set a partition active on disk 0. The target disk, partition, or volume does not support the specified operation. The error occurred while applying the unattend asnwer file's <DiskConfiguration> setting. Error code: 0X80300024"
it happened in the beginning of installation.
what's more, before that error, system still asked me to choose which languange in the installation and I also need to click install button to begin installation.
I believe that with answer file, windows 7 should start installation automatically. Am I right?

Windows, both under Boot Camp, and Parallels 6, used to be able to recognize the partition on which OSX is installed.  It stopped recognizing it and I don't know why or how to fix it.  My version of OSX is Snow Leopard; version of Windows is Vista Home Premium (32 bit).  I have been thinking of upgrading to OSX Lion.  Would that fix the problem?  I am also thinking of upgrading to Parallels 7, but doubt that it would fix the problem since Windows does not recognized OSX partition even in Boot Camp.

I don't know if it's the same, but I removed a lot of devices in Device Manager (for example the  and they get automatically reinstalled)
For example I uninstalled "Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth" and "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator" under Bluetooth Radios and all devices under Human Interface Devices. To the point that no mouses or keyboards worked and I had to plug-in a wired USB mouse to go on...
When I say that I lost the bluetooth connectivity, I mean only my BT mouse (a MS Sculpt Touch mouse I bought yesterday. My Apple Wireless Keyboard works.
But my mouse dissapeared after reinstalling the bootcamp software and I can't for the life of me reinstall it again. It gets discovered but it gets an authentication error before pairing. Alternatively, I can right-click on the discovered mouse and check the HID BT services and when I OK it starts installing to dissapear after getting "succesfully installed drivers"

  • Windows can not find ' FILE ': error.

I have downloaded and installed the production version of SQL Developer. (1.0.0.14.67)
    Windows XP SP 2.
When I started it for the first time I checked all the file association check boxes.
If I double click on a .sql file the following windows error occurs:
Windows can not find '<file>'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To Search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search.
SQL Developer does startup. The error message is closed when the OK button is selected.
    Any Ideas?
    Regards;
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
Just to confirm, SQL Developer does actually open the file. The only issue is the error message displayed. I have logged a bug for that.
There is a work around until that is sorted. If you use explorer to associate the file types with SQL Developer, they open without this error.
    Regards
