Windows XP not freezing anymore

I've seen a lot of other frustrated users trying to load Windows XP and then freezing after the Mac driver install. The same thing was driving me crazy with my MBP 15" 2.33 C2D 2GB 160GB 10.5.4 setup. However, I did get Windows XP SP 2 to finally work properly about 3 am last night...
I just installed 10.5.4 on this machine this last weekend and went to install Windows XP SP2 on a Boot Camp partition. I followed the BC directions and got XP installed followed by the Mac driver install, then every reboot brought on a frozen cursor either on a black screen or on the rolling hillside screen before anything else loaded. It seemed to me that rebooting after the Mac driver install was the culprit...others seem to have found the same thing.
Several installs later same thing...then I decided to download the BC 2.1.exe and install it after the XP and Mac driver install but before the reboot and it worked. Here's the sequence that worked for me...not sure if I just got lucky or if this is a repeatable result. Since I got it working, I didn't want to try it again just to see if that was the solution. I'll leave that up to you guys if you choose to try it.
Boot Camp to set partition
Install Windows...reboot
Install Mac drivers so airport will work...don't reboot
Download BC2.1.exe from apple.com and run it
Reboot...no more frozen cursor

Mail window does not close anymore

Look at the bottom frame of the Mail window; it may display a small dot thingie in the middle of its bar, something like this -
If so, try clicking on that dot and dragging upward.
If that works, you should have both panes present again. You can adjust the size of the window as a whole by dragging the bottom-right corner (where the hash marks are).

Using FTP to share files with 3 Windows computers - Not Working Anymore

My office is trying to share files with a number of computers, both Mac and PC. The files are housed on a Mac OS 10 version 10.6, and I've enabled both AFP and FTP sharing. The macs in the office connect just fine, but yesterday, after three weeks of working perfectly, the Windows machines stopped connecting to the Mac. They get a "The Connection with the server was reset" error. We don't use an FTP client - I just had the PCs connect to the Mac by typing ftp://address in their explorer window.
I've tried restarting all computers, disabling and re-enabling FTP sharing, and I've triple checked permissions, etc. Is there anything else I should be investigating? I'm trying to look into our firewall here, but since our computers are rentals and another company controls our internet access I'm not sure what I can do there. (I tried setting up workgroups, but said company won't give me administrative access over the PCs or access to the firewall, and there's no IT dept to speak of)
As I'm sure you can tell, I'm just a regular old office monkey who inherited the "IT" job with no IT experience, so I apologize if any part of this question is stupid.

I know just about nothing about this, but common dianostic practices include looking at the logs.
Either use Applications -> Utilities -> Console, which has a search function that might make this easier.
Or go looking around /var/log (which you can use Unix 'grep' to do your searching ). Then again, NOT ALL logs are in /var/log, and Console knows where more logs are located.
2 logs that might be a good starting point would be /var/log/messages and /var/log/secure

Using right mouse click in bookmarks and selecting new tab or window does not work anymore in firefow 4.0. no new tab or window opens. Still works if you open new via File menu.

When you select bookmarks, find the bookmark you want, then right mouse button click you get a drop down menu giving you the chance to open a bookmark in a new tab or new window. This no longer works with firefow 4.0

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Windows would not load anymore after installing bootcamp drivers

I had been running Mountain Lion and Windows 8 flawlessly for many months until I ran out of Hard drive space on the Windows side so I decided to wipe both hard drives (put one in place of disk drive) and start with clean installs of both (poor life decision). I had a heck of a time installing windows 8 this time since I longer had a internal SuperDrive. But I fonally got it to install after many hours trying to do it via a usb drive. It installed properly from an external drive and rEFIt. Immediately after installing Windows 8 I installed the latest bootcamp drivers and played inwindows 8 for an hour or so but installed nothing else. after powering down Windows 8 will no longer load I am assuming due do an issue with bootcamp drivers although it may be a fluke since it was working before. I am guessing I just need to try again but after all the headaches I figured I would post here and see if anyone had any thoughts or solutions.

XP is an old and non-supported by Microsoft operating system. So there is no support, security updates, etc. Why are you installing XP?
Whenever you install any version of Windows you need to install anti virus. Microsoft Security Essentials is all you need and it is free.

I downloaded the software
I went to my downloads file and double clicked to install firefox
The file disappeared from the downloads folder and I got the blue screen of death. and my machine crashed
Windows will not start anymore and keeps reverting to BSOD but I cannot read the failure code because the screen changes too quickly

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time?

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).

Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.

Problem : System Freezes frequently on any hardware scan or changes.
Symptom : Wireless Keyboard Mouse not working.
Caused by : VMkbd.sys located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
Issue : VMware player or VMware Workstation installed on Windows 8.1 causes compatibility issue leading to system freeze
Soultion : Please follow steps below
Step 1: Start > run > regedit
Step 2: Locate to this registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Step 3: On the left side plane, Right click on the registry {4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318} and then export it as backup. Just to be safe.
Step 4: Edit the UpperFilters, The value current would be kdbclass vmkbd. Remove the vmkbd. So only value left would be kbdclass.
Step 5: Restart your system and connect your USB wireless reciever. If all is well it will not freeze your windows now.

Please try:
Keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys pressed while launching PSE13 Editor and click OK on the dialog that comes next.

Encore CS6 does not work. When I launch the Programm a message appears "Encore does not work anymore" and I can only choose close or debug.

With Windows, an update will OFTEN/SOMETIMES cause a problem with the graphics adapter driver
What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
