Windows XP PC can't see shared files on Mac

Our Mac Pro running OS X 10.5.8 can access all the shared folders on our Windows XP PC. In addition, all our other Macs can access the shared folders on our Mac Pro.
However - the XP PC cannot access any shared folders on the Mac Pro!
Any ideas how to fix this situation, and allow the XP PC to access our Mac Pro's shared folders?

If your Mac Pro has FileVault on, your Windows XP machine will not be able to access the files, as FileVault disables SMB and printer sharing for Windows XP clients.
In case FileVault is not on, you could try temporarily disabling the Windows firewall and the anivirus and/or internet security suite on the WinPC, and see whether it can access the files on your Mac Pro.

Can't see shared files, so can't share 'em!

I know this is probably just a matter of a setting in the admin or something...but here's my situation.
Office computer, running XP, cable modem connected to WRT54GS.
Studio computer in another room, running Vista Home Premium, connected to the WRT54GS using the Compact-G Wireless USB with Speedbooster.
Both computers see the router fine. Both are sharing the Internet connection fine. They just can't see each other, so I can't get to the shared folders on the XP machine from the studio computer, nor to the public folders on the studio machine from the XP machine.
I check the network places, and it shows me the router, but not the other computer connected to it. I AM supposed to be able to share files and a printer between computers, right? Driving me nuts cause I have to run everything to the XP machine with a flash drive any time I want to print something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Login to your router and see if you have a setting called "AP isolation". If you do, make sure that it is turned off (disabled). As long as this setting is correct, and as long as both computers can access the Internet, then the router is not your problem. The router does not block communications on the LAN. This means that the problem that you are having is either a firewall problem, or a Windows problem.
To correct the firewall problem:
Go to each computer, and set your computer's software firewall so that all the other computers on your network are seen as "trusted".
To correct a Windows problem:
You will probably need to seek help from the Windows support site.

Can not see shared files

Windows Xp sp3, wrt54g2, Kodak wireless picture frame
Picture frame can see router (wirelessly), computer can see router (by wire), Have Media player 11 which sees the picture frame. Picture frame does not see the computer nor shared files. Picture frame knows the SSID and password. Network Magic says there are no shared files. I have right clicked on My Pictures folder and have shared it (and others as a trial). Network magic draws a path. Have turned off firewall and antivirus. Can ping everything ok. What do I do next to share files on the network? Specifically pictures.

My Windows machine 'see' the Mac. When i double-click or press enter on the Mac comp icon on my windows machine, I do not get any confirm box to enter username and password. Instead, I am allowed to view the content which is empty ( although I enabled some shared folder on my Mac)

Can't see MTS files using mac os 10.9.5 and adobe premiere elements 12

I am using a MacBook Pro and OS is 10.9.5. Adobe premiere elements 12 does not recognize MTS files from my SD card. The OS does not see MTS files from the card as well...but...I have an MTS file on my desktop from before I upgraded from 10.6.8 that can be seen by both Adobe and the new OS.

What are you using as your Add Media/ for the import of your .mts on the SD?
Not sure if the following is a viable question, but....
What happens if you transfer the .mts on the SD card to your computer desktop and then try to
import the .mts into Premiere Elements 12 with its Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets?
But on reflection, if your OS and Premiere Elements are both not seeing the file, this does not
present as a Premiere Elements issue, rather an issue between the .mts format and your Mac computer.
If that is a valid observation, have you gotten any input on this from Apple?
Have you looked into converting these .mts files into H.264.mov or .mp4 before use?

How can i see others files in mac air

I want to manage the storage in my Mac Air but I don't know how to visualize "others" files so I can review what I have there...

Finder > Go > all my files
then arrange by size, or by date ,etc. to see what you need to offload to an external HD.
disk expert, or daily disk applications on the APP Store are also very handy for that as well.

Can't See Some Files Across Mac Network

I have my Mac Pro tower (Leopard) set to completely share with my Mini (Snow Leopard). There a many folders and files residing on Pro I cannot see on Mini. Many seem to be Open Office files (although I can see many other Ooo files). I have tried moving the files that can't be seen manually from the Pro to the downloads folder on the Mini and they still doesn't show up on the Mini!

Hmmm, by the lack of response, perhaps this issue is unique?? I can't find anything on the internet that is this same prob I'm having either. Did I perhaps screw something up when setting the 2 Macs up to see each other?
There are also entire file folders I've made within Documents on the Pro (Leopard) that are just competley missing when I look for them on the Mini (Snowleopard). This is very strange as I can see all other sub folders in this particular master folder within Docs and the missing folder contains many and all sorts of files... not just Open Office files.

Printing From iBook To Printer on Windows Vista Desktop, Can't see shared printer on a Vista machine from a Mac, although Windows notebooks find it immediately.
I have previously always had success sharing printers on Windows XP machines with my iBooks. . However upon installing Vista RC1 on my desktop I find I can no longer find the printer in the Mac's printer setup utility. When I dual boot back to XP everything works fine, but on the same machine when I boot into Vista I am unble to see the printers. The Mac printer setup utility finds the Vista machine on the network, but the printers are never visible. Is their some secret or channge in Vista that prevents Mac's running , in my case,Tiger 10.4.8 from seeing a shared printer on a computer running Vista
On the Vista machine, if I boot into XP The printer is shared and Windows notebooks can print to it, but neither of my iBooks can see the Printers when Vista is running.

That might have been the situation for the beta's and first RC's, but I have a final build. Plus the fact that other Windoze notebooks see the printer on the Vista box just fine leads one to believe it is a mac/Vista specific issue.
If anyone actually has experience with a MAC and Vista , I would appreciate hearing from you.

It's Shaunn, the original poster. Thanks for your posting. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's having this problem.
Now that you mention it, I'm having the exact same problem on Facebook as well, when I play Family Feud.
I wish someone would investigate and post a solution to this problem. No-one from Playlist has responded, and no-one "Officially" from Firefox either.
So Mariah, I appreciate you and your post.

Using wireless Linksys network with windows XP desktop for printer and some shared file access. Printer working well. In finder, cannot connect to see shared files.

My users sometimes have a problem that user A sometimes can't see a file created or copied by user B to a directory within a share they can both access. Both are within the same group which grants them Full Access on the share, settings for permissions are
correctly set to be applied on directories, subdirectories and files.. Confusingly, this can be fixed when user A creates some kind of file (empty .txt, for example); the "missing" files will suddenly appear.

Windows File Server 2008r2, shares and files are located here.
ABENUM activated, needed for several folders.
The Domain-Admin Account is able to see all the files all the time.
Anybody got an idea what I could check?

There is no way to do so without software. I recently had a similiar task and was suggested to use iExplorer. It worked like a charm.

You don't have access to it to configure it via Time Machine? You lost me on that one, Time Machine is used for Backup.

To configure Time Capsule you should be using "Airport Utility" 5.3 or higher that is located in the Utilities folder. You can tell if its version 5.3 because the icon will have blue lines instead of orange lines like the older versions. Since you are running Leopard 10.5.6 and you ran Software Update you are probably already running the latest 5.3 version.
The light flashing amber means you haven't entered enough information so that it can get to the internet. Once you have that info entered the light will turn green.
If your absolutely sure your CAT5 cables are good you can try a hard reset. I think you have to push the reset button on the back and hold it for 5 seconds or so until the amber light blinks rapidly, then when you release the button it does the reset then.
