WIndows XP Professional and New Nano???

SO I have been having major issues with my new nano (blue screen of death and memory dumps) -- Apple gave me a replacement to see if that worked...somehow i was able to get it to sync one time -- now the screen of death is back again and I noticed a little footnote on the compatibility requirements for the nano ----
SOMEHOW - it EXCLUDES XP Professional and it is buried.....has anyone else had sucess with this? Thankfully my nano is loaded now -- i guess I will just charge it via a wall unit until apple comes up with a fix.

Nope that wasn't it -- thankfully I have a helpful company IT staff and they are stumped as well.
I was able to get my nano to sync once -- after i sent it into disk mode, then got all the corrupt ipod info, it synched FINALLY after hours of trying to follow all the advice -- but now if i plug it in, it still keeps crashing my computer
We (Meaning my IT staff) are just beginning to this it has something to do with this footnote under the system requirements and I am just hoping apple will come up with another update - but for now i am not going to attempt to sync and will just use a wall charger.

  • Changed my windows to windows 7 professional and illustrator 8.0 won't setup

What do I have to do to get my laptop to setup my illustrator 8.0 since I changed to windows 7 professional? It says it can't set it up.

    Jimmy,
You should be able to install and run AI8 in Windows 7 professional (and 8,1 for that matter).
You will probably need to run the computer in XP mode to install. Here is how:
Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7
To run AI8, you should be able to just run the computer normally and to specify that AI8 is to run in (XP) Compatibility maode, as follows:
    1) RightClick the shortcut;
    2) Click Properties;
    3) Click Compatibility;
    4) Tick Run this program in Compatibility mode for, then select XP in the dropdown list;
    5) Start AI9.
Otherwise, search for Compatibility in the Windows Help and follow the instructions there.

i try to install itunes in windows 7 professional and it keeps giving me an error hresult dx800736b3

Follow these instructions to completely remove Apple software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
    download iTunes again from Apple.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You should be making backups of your content regularly, either through iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a external drive.
Windows is notorious for having "other" issues that make it unstable, we as volunteers helping others can't always resolve those issues.

  • Installing Windows XP professional and F6 (3rd party SATA drivers)

Forgive me if this is answered somewhere. I found a posting that was close but not quite the same, or maybe it is. This is  my first system I have put together so please excuse the newby status.  I am Using the K8T Neo2  motherboard (Via Tech VT8237 SATA) and the AMD 64 bit 3500+ chip. I have hooked up 2 Seagate 120 Gb  Serial ATA hard drives. Also have a Sony DVD r/w drive and a 3.5 " floppy and they all seem to show up in the setup menu.
When I try to install the operating system (Windows XP professional) and the bottom  of the screen says, press F6  for third party SATA drivers I press F6 and it does nothing but continue to load windows files up to the point when it does not recognize a hard drive and I have to exit with F3. Can anyone help???????? What is the possible reason hitting F6 does nothing, I have rebooted and tried several times. I cannot get to the point to choose the third party SATA driver. This is getting very frustrating...... Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hm...this is kind of a longshot, but you're not using the "Logitech Elite" keyboard ( http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=23-126-114&depa=0 ), are you?  This keyboard has an annoying feature called the "F-Lock" because Logitech decided to apply custom functions to the various F-buttons (an okay idea in and of itself), and then foolishly decided to set the custom functions as being the default behavior of the buttons, so that the only way pressing "F6" actually causes the F6 keystroke to be sent is if the F-lock is enabled (which is extremely stupid...the keys should send the normal F-commands with the lock off, and having the lock on should enable the custom commands).  If you have this keyboard, then just enable the F-lock and try again and it should work.
...if you have some other keyboard, then the above suggestions are good...always mash the hell out of F-buttons, and if it's a USB keyboard that isn't working right, try a PS2 keyboard.  You might also be able to affect things by enabling "USB Legacy" support in the BIOS, though take note that having this enabled may cause your system to become unbootable (until the setting is turned back off).

  • Musicmatch 10 and new Nano - What gives?

I have a spankin new nano and went to sync my 1,000+ songs from Musicmatch onto it and it all appeared to work... It took about 15 minutes, but when it was done none of the tracks displayed on the nano menu.
If I looked at the nano using windows explorer (like a storage device), all the tracks were there as MP3s.
    Any ideas?
I've read conficting posts about Musicmatch supporting the iPod. Is this true? MUST I use itunes? (I'd rather not)

Previous versions of Musicmatch were able to sync music to older iPods and have it recognized by the iPod; Apple stopped including Musicmatch with iPods when iTunes became available for Windows, and the current version of Musicmatch probably can't put music sent to an iPod in the portion of the iPod that it expects the music to be in.

  • CALS for Windows 7 Professional and windows server

Do I need WIN CAL for both the machine for file transfer ?Does windows  2008 and
windows 7 professional has any minimum WIN CAL which comes along with Windows
    license?
    Kindly please clarify.

    Hello,
for Windows Server 2008, you need CALs for each user or device have Access to Windows Server.
If you are using Windows 7 as a separte Workstation and users have Access to Windows 7 than you do not eeed CALs*
*You may allow up to 20 other devices to access Windows 7 software installed on the licensed computer to use only File Services, Print Services, Internet Information Services and Internet Connection Sharing and Telephony Services.
If you mean to install Windows 7 on Windows Server 2008 and users have Access to both than you Need CALs for Windows Server + VDA license for each device accessing to Windows 7 as a virtual machine on the Server.
I hope that my Answer clear ist

  • Lost old nano and new nano will not sychronize with my itunes

I recently bought an new nano ipod after my old one stopped working. I am trying to synchronize the new one and it is not working. What should I try?

That could be a solution. Are you getting any error messages or error codes? Is the iPad recognized in iTunes? Does anything happen at all when you try to Sync? Can you provide more details?
You can try a very simple first step, quit iTunes, reboot your PC and restart the iPad.

  • FCE and New Nano

Just curious, will FCE support the new Nano video?

Video shot by the Nano is H.264 VGA video, 640 by 480 pixels, up to 30 frames per second with AAC audio. I haven't figured out exactly what the 'up to 30 frames per second' means; still exploring.
For what it's worth, the Nano display panel is 240 by 376 pixels at 204 pixels per inch

  • Using new laptop to manage and download music to 2 yr old mini and new nano

I have a 2 yr old mini that I managed all music on using a Dell desktop computer. I have a new Dell laptop and my wife just got a new Ipod mini. How do I manage the music for my old Ipod mini and her new Ipod nano on the new Dell laptop and can we have separate accounts?
    Your help is much appreciated!

See this also: Multiple iPod installations.
If you have the latest iTunes, an easy way to create a new library is to hold down the 'alt' key whilst opening iTunes (for Macs), or hold down the 'shift' key (for Windows).
This will give you the option of either using the current iTunes library or creating a new one.
There are various methods of transferring different songs to different iPods with a single iTunes library.
One is to manage the songs manually.
With this setting, you can drag and drop songs/playlists etc onto the iPod from iTunes, and also delete and/or edit songs which are currently on the iPod without affecting the iTunes library.
If you wish to keep the convenience of automatic sync, then you could set the iPods to sync with "selected playlists". This setting can be found in the iPod summary screen under the 'music' tab. With this setting, different playlists can be transferred and later deleted from each iPod without affecting any playlists stored in iTunes or the playlists on the other iPods.
Also, on the 'summary' main page you will see the option to "only sync checked items". With this setting selected, if you remove the check marks from any songs in iTunes, they will not be transferred to the iPod. You can restore the check mark if you want to put the songs back on the iPod at a later date.
Be aware that when playing songs in iTunes, any songs that do not have a check mark against them will be skipped over and will not be played.

  • Is it true there is no tilt in week 38 and newer nanos?

Hopefully I will have my last discussion with Apple about this tomorrow, after the local Consumer Affairs agency finishes talking with the Apple Customer Representative.
She is trying to get me either yet another replacement nano 3g (it will be my 4th) or a refund for my tilted LCD one.
One question I have is this:
I have heard people in these forums say the tilted screen problem was fixed by week 38. The nanos I've gotten so far, with the tilted screen problems, have all been week 35 and 36, so I have no basis for comparison.
Among people who have seen the tilt problem, have any of you seen this problem with week 38?
The Apple guy says he can't guarantee that I would be sent a week 38 one or newer, but the Consumer Affairs agency woman says she thinks that is not reasonable and that she can at least make them provide one of the later ones if they have fixed the problem.
So what I want to know is whether it is worth pressing the issue on that point. I would press the point if I knew for sure that the problem was resolved by week 38.
    Does anybody know?
    Thanks,
    doug

You may find this MacNN article of interest when conferring with Apple and your local Consumer Affairs agency.
    http://www.macnn.com/reviews/apple-ipod-nano---third-generation.html
Paragraph 6 would indicate that Apple is aware of problems with some earlier models having tilted screens and states "The company has said it would replace the affected models."
Perhaps you could email the author through the link on the page and get more detail on that statement.
That seems to be a far different response than the "it is within spec" some folks seem to be getting from local retail stores.

  • Windows 8.1 and iPod Nano?

This is the message I get-"An iPod has been detected but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again.  If the problem persists, uninstall iTunes and install iTunes again." I have tried this and also checked my drivers.  The report says they are all working except when I ran a diagnostic, a "red" dot said "No iPod was found.  However, it did show in my hardware in the control panel.  Please-can anyone help? It worked great with Windows 8.

I had the exact same issue and reinstalled iTunes, but it didn't work.  Turns out you have to uninstall everything Apple related.  See this guide for details: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923  It worked fine for me, once I had uninstalled and reinstalled in the correct order.
I also had issues downloading the 64 bit iTunes installer, so I had to use this alternate link to download.  http://support.apple.com/downloads/
Hopefully this helps someone!  I spend several frustrated hours researching this so I was glad to share my solution.

  • Macbook Pro installed windows 7 professional and no audio :(

i've serached for sulutions all around the web and nothing, i've recently installed windows 7 in my macbook pro(newones) for school matters and there's no audio :s
    Things I tried:
    install dirvers from cd included
    install realtek drivers manually
    reinstall windows 7

At this point, if you try installing driver again, try using Driver Sweeper 2.0 from Guru3D to sweep and delete drivers in addition to uninstalling. That can clean things up and help, but I am at a loss and just from reading seems mixed results on MBP as to which ones to use and work or not.
So do browse through today's posts. Though I am perplexed MacRumors couldn't help - seems mixed and the Mac Pro section sometimes more help than Windows on Mac. Though the MacBook area you tried also?

My computer won't recognize my iPOD Touch even though it does recognize my Clasic and Nano. Any suggestions?

Well, now I feel like an idiot. I was using TWO CORDS. Ya, don't make my mistake. The one I had a problem with was made by a company that was not apple, and it was for CHARGING. I bought it with charger, and that's all it can do. It doesn't send data like the real cable. So, check your usb cables. :S
