Windows XP Professional Install Disc not working properly?

Recently my school offered everyone in my major a free copy of Windows XP Professional, which I was able to download for free from their site. I downloaded the install disc as a .iso file, and burned a copy onto a CD so I could install it on my Mac with Boot Camp. However, when I ran the Boot Camp Assistant and put in the XP Professional CD, it restarted, began loading the disc, and then came to a screen asking me whether I wanted to install Windows, repair Windows, or quit out of the installer. I tried pressing the enter key several times to get it to start installing, but it wasn't accepting any keyboard input. I held down the power button to restart, ran the Boot Camp Assistant again, and did the same thing with my copy of XP Home Edition. It brought up the same screen as before, but now I was able to start the install, without any problems. Is this a problem with the .iso file I downloaded, or is there a compatibility issue with booting from the XP Professional CD?

You are not addressing Apple, but a community of unpaid volunteers. So ASAP won't cut it. Also, you should refrain from posting personal information (like your email address) in the body of your comments, as this is part of the community usage guidelines.
Have you reinstalled the latest Boot Camp Windows 7 drivers, just in case Microsoft overwrote some of them during the Windows 7 security update?
If you want to communicate issues with Apple about Boot Camp and OS X, click on the link. Just don't hold your breath on receiving a response.

Did you download and install the Windows Support software? If you did, did you use the Boot Camp Control icon to set up the trackpad how you want it?

G510 installed Windows 8.1 Function keys not working properly

last week i have puchased lenovo g510 laptop and installed windows 8.1 and later on automatically function keys and all the keys were not working properly. if i press key to increase brightness and some other operation is performing by its own. What's wrong with this LENOVO brand is this the way you take lots of money from people. I need an immediate solution from basic support to my home. If at all it is not resolved i will file a case on consumer court that LENOVO was chaeten me and what ever it may be i will go for end.

Start with the Chipset installation first then whatever comes next.
Make sure you select the proper version for your Windows type and version.

Flash Player installed but not working properly

I have Windows 7 64 bit, and run IE11.
I have Adobe Flash Player installed.
It works fine on my login (administrator) but my young Son can not watch video's, as it says Flash Player is not installed.
How do I fix this please?

Flash Player has updated to 11.87.800.175 today; is it working better?
If not, what means "not working properly"?

Windows 8 two-finger-scrolling not working properly

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.
Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard.
Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture.
Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

I am having similar problems, although I don't have the zoom issue- it is simply not scrolling. very frustrating when you are accustomed to this method. My resolution was also reset, but I don't find that as much of an issue- the scrolling I can't fix.

Recently installed fonts not working properly

I just installed two new fonts. They each have several variations (i.e. condensed, semi-condensed, medium, italic, etc.). However, in the Fonts panel in my applications only a few of the variations show up - perhaps 30% of the total that should be there.

Try reinstalling the fonts again. If it still does not work, it could be that some of the fonts are corrupted.

DVD's and game install discs not working on Windows 8 bootcamp.

I have installed Windows 8 on bootcamp and whenever I insert a disk into the computer, windows 8 doesn't seem to pick it up. I've installed Windows 8 just as all the tutorials have said, and I've downloaded all the drivers onto Windows 8. How can I fix this problem?

Windows 8 is not supported on Boot Camp. Install Windows 7 instead.

Pioneer dvr-110d installed but not working properly

hello,
i'm new to the forum. i just purchased a pioneer dvr-110d for my my powermac g4 466mhz. it plays dvds correctly but the only thing that it doesnt do is load my osx 10.4 disc. i got the drive so i can install software without borrowing an external drive (i needed to reload my 10.4 because of other errors) so everytime i put the 10.4 disc in it reads it and says to restart but when that happens it restarts to a gray and sometimes blue screen. so the only way i get the disc back out is with restarting with the shift key held down and then i can force eject it. you guys are my last hope. it seems to working fine except with the startup disc. which is so strange to me.. and the system profiler recognizes it also

When you installed the drive, did you set the jumper block on the left rear of the drive to "Master"?
Have you set Energy Saver to sleep NEVER & unchecked HDD sleep?
Have you tried starting up w/ the "C" key?
Have you tried updating the drive firmware? Search Discussions for DVR-110, there are many threads with links to updating on a Mac.
Assuming you've also tried cleaning the install DVD, and updating firmware makes no difference, you should try booting from some other installer CD/DVD, to confirm that the drive is bootable; if it will not boot ANY installers, I would return it.
EDIT: you may want to also try
resetting PRAM & NVRAM, always a good idea when replacing hardware.

Windows 2003 server scheduled tasks not work properly. Please help.

I created a couple of windows shell scripting programs. When I call them from command line, it works well. Then I use Task Scheduler to schedule them to be run daily. The strange thing is: If I log into server and open Task Scheduler window. The scheduled tasks will run automatically and execute with result code 0x0. It works well. However, if I just set up Task Scheduler and log out of the server, the scheduled works will not run with result code 0x80. Here is the log info

Result: The task completed with an exit code of (80).
I used windows adminstrator account, not system account to schedule the work. I changed scheduled work to be run by my admin account, not by system account. Please advise me where is the problem and how to fix it. Thanks in advance.

According to your description, I understand that your scheduled task did not run when the user is not logged in the system.
Please go to the services.msc and select the "task Scheduler" service, double-click it and go to "Log On" page, enable the option "allow service to interact with desktop" and test the result.

User preferences will not save on windows xp. clean install will not work.

User options will not save. I have followed all the instructions to do a clean install which included removing the old firefox files and user profiles. I am using Windows xp SP3. Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

Installing glitz, not working properly

Hey,
I am trying to install glitz, I run these commands
./configure
make
sudo make install (it shows errors if I don't use sudo)
Then I try and install cairo-dock-svn, but it keeps saying I have not installed the glitz package?
Am I doing somthing wrong?

There is a glitz package in the community repo, so 'pacman -S glitz' should be all that's needed.
If you build software manually without any special configure options it will end up in /usr/local and that's not in the default search path for binaries or libraries.
So don't do that - instead, use a proper package or write your own PKGBUILD and make a package out of that. Having stuff lying around on your harddisk that's not being managed by the packaging tools sucks.

Back Up Disc not working properly

I backed up all of my purchases and had my computer sent in to be worked on, knowing when I got it back it would be erased. I only put a movie and a TV show on the disc and the movie went onto my ipod just fine. I am trying to add my episodes of Vampire Diaries in HD back onto my Ipod Touch but it says this content cannot be played on my ipod. Yet they were all on there before. When I attempt to make an ipod version it just freezes itunes and doesn't create the version. What do I do to make it work so I can add it to my ipod again?

When you download an HD TV show you get both the HD version and the SD version.
It's the latter that goes on to the iPod.
If you did a full back up right click on the show and select SD from the drop down menu.

KDE 4.1 - customisation and installing widgets not working properly

Hey, so I decided to try KDE 4.1. So far looks good altough I have some graphic glitches due to the nvidia drivers (but those should be fixed soon, I hope).
Still I can't help but to feel a tad disapointed at the lack of customisation of the panels.
I mean, sure there are widgets but can't he put some applications on the panels (eg. Konsole) so we don't have to use the KMenu everytime? I might be doing something wrong here so if anyone knows how please let me know.
I was also disapointed at finding that the taskbar is only one row, it makes things messy for me, but then I found out there's a widget that allows more than one row. Thing is, when I tried to install throu the 'install new widgets'->'download from internet' it appeared as installed but then doesn't show up in the widgets menu. Is this a bug?

edit: Is there also a way to add a side panel instead of bottom/top only?

You can right-click on an application in the application-menu and then choose to add it to the panel.
