Trying to link my wife's new i-pod (30Gb) to my Dell system I get warning message saying not to proceed:
"Microsoft strongly recommends you only use device drivers with the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo. Installing device drivers that have not been digitally-signed by Microsoft may disable the system ..etc"
I already have my older i-od working fine and have the latest i-tunes/i-pod and XP udtaes installed. Any ideas?

  • Windows 8 and i-pod

I have windows 8 and cannot use my i-pod. it does not recognize apple and vise versa. i have to wait for a fix. can listen to music that is on the i-pod, but cannot download any thing from my library.

    Hey Terrible Teddy,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with the iTunes library on your PC. To begin, I see that you recently installed a new hard drive. Did you happen to copy over files from the previous hard drive? If not, I suspect that the iTunes library is no longer locally stored, and what you are seeing is your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
Do the tracks have a download icon that looks like this?:
If so, you’ll want to download these purchases as they are not locally stored on your computer:
Downloading past purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store

After doing so, go ahead and attempt to sync your iPod once more.

  • My I Pod will not download all content  to my laptop. running windows 7 and I Pod ver. 6.1.6.

My I Pod will not download all music contents to my I Tunes on my Lap top when I sync.  I have tried auto sync and manual download.  i am running Windows 7 and my I Pod is updated to version6.1.6.  I have tried to sync on two different lap tops and have deleted and reinstalled I Tunes on both lap tops.
    Any suggestions?

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Try syncing using the manual method   Maye you did this by "manual download"
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library so try:
Backing up the iPOd and then restore from that backup

  • Share Window built in "Browser" pod

I had the opportunity to evaluate numerous conferencing platforms for our K-12 distance learning project at our private school.
At the end of the day we decided to go with Adobe Connect for varuous reasons. However there were some features that are missing that other products had that I wish Adobe would look to adding.
It seems Adobe Connect does not have the ability to share a "browser" window, but only show a "Web Links" pod. It would be nice to have a quick like to a browser that a host/presenter can utilize without have to do a screen share of their desktops to access their browser. This would allow a teacher to control a internet session right within the share pod. Too many clicks and resources used to do this via a screen share.
It is not secret that educators are using more and more online video in their classes. It sure would be nice to be able to browse to youtube or Kahn Academy right in Share "browser" pod  to do this instead of third party extensions or screen shares.
I hope this could find its way in the next verison or update...unless someone knows an easy way to do this that I am unaware of.....?
    Thanks!

  • How to connect my i-Pod touch to the computer

Hi, I'm trying to connect my old i-Pad (2-nd or 3-rd generation) touch to the i-Mac computer. Previously it was connected to the lap top runing Windows. The i-Pod dsplays i-Tunes and USB logo, indicating that needs to be connected to the computer. None of the computers are recognizing it. Originaly I have left the i-Pod unused for extended amount of time. The battery charge runned down and now after recharging the battery it does not connect to the i-Tunes. Please help. Thanks.

  • Windows client intermittent connection to PEAP WIFI backed off to ISE 1.2 wildcard cert

I am setting up a topology whwere for the first time I am deplying ISE with a wildcard certificate.  This is on ISE 1.2 patch 6, WLC's running 7.6 and Windows 7 clients in AD.  The ISE policy is just to match on machine auth.
The setting up of the wildcard cert went ok as guided by the CCO ISE 1.2 deployment/cfg guide.
When it came to testing the client auth as always I start off with the PEAP settings of Validate server certificate off, just to confirm the WLC and ISE are playing ball.  They were, the auth passed.
I then tick the Validate server certificate, make sure the CA (Windows AD) is in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities.  Retest and the client passes.
If I then disconnect the wifi and reconnect, either manually or by doing a reboot, the next authenticaiton fails, but nothing has changed.  ISE reports that my Windows client rejected the server certificate.  Which is odd as it just accepted it.
If I untick the validate the client passes, if i tick it again it will authenticate fine, once.  The next connection it will fail again with the client rejecting ISE.
    Anyone got any ideas?

I have had a similar issue consistently with 1.2 on both pathc 5 and 6 (not sure about earlier one). Basically what I am seeing is the client rejecting the Server cert when validate is unticked. Most of the time the client connects just fine a few seconds later but some clients need a reboot to fix it. As a rule I put this down to client issue but not 100% sure some times.

  • Seeking Advice on Rejecting MR2 Update

It appears that I may be on of the few very lucky TB users that has been satisfied with it's performance since I purchased it shortly after its' introduction.  I also rushed into the MR1 update and got lucky again.  When the MR2 came out I started checking again and went through all the ailments of everyone here.  Fortunately I quit checking for the update a few weeks back.  Two nights ago I caught a pop up window indicating there was an update available and the it would install in x.xx time and was counting down, same thing happened last night, both times I rejected the update.
Will the update, now, be continually pushed to my phone and I have to hopefully catch the pop window and reject it or will the system figure out that I am rejecting the update and finally give up the push to update?  I sure don't want to be checking for the pop up window all the time.
    Thanks for any information

the problem is that the update did nothing to improve the performance if your device already works fine. all it does is add more bloatware. there's NO reason to have to insatll it if you don't want to......particularly if you were fortunate enough to have the version of skype that previously worked on the tbolt. i was flawlessly making video calls until this update rendered skype useless. i can think of many reasons NOT to get the update....but no reason to get it.
unfortunately though, i'm afraid it will force itself onto your device at some point. i don't know if there's anything that you could possibly disable to prevent it?
I don't disagree with that. I think the only performance improvement was probably to try to fix the random reboots, but like you said, if you didn't have the problem, you probably won't notice any change. The only extra Verizon addition that I saw was the MyVerizon app. I don't really need it since I have the unlimited hotspot, so I don't need to keep track of that data and I can choose not to use it. I just have it on because I like to know how much data I'm using even if it is unlimited and it's a little more convenient than doing it on the web site. Was there more than that added? I look at everything that is running pretty often and I haven't seen anything else. Not disputing you, I just want to know if there's something else I should be looking for.
I just don't think Verizon is going to let you keep using the free hotspot forever just because you don't update since that is costing them money. It's just my opinion that you will end up being charged for the hotspot even if you do manage to put the OTA off indefinitely. I wanted the $30.00 unlimited Hotspot and I wanted to make sure it would be my choice and not Verizon's because I think they prefer the tiered system to the unlimited. I really don't know if they can tell if you're using the hotspot. I use to think they could because the last time I got a bill in the mail, it showed both the phone data and hotspot data, but I'm not seeing that when I look at my bill on the web site.
As far as Skype, I don't use it, but I have read on other forums that some have had problems with Skype since the update and others haven't. And as usual, I've seen different fixes that work for some and not for others. Another update inconsistency. That seems to be one of the prices you pay with Android. There are so many different phones from different manufacturers that it's hard to do an update or develop an app that will work for all of them. Even those of us with the TBolt have different experiences. The alternative is the one I had before Android and I don't want to go there again.
The only thing that seems certain is that no one is certain about anything and it's all mainly just speculation. But, that's fun also.

  • I-Pod 30 does not allow FF or Rewind

What, if anything, can I do? I use my MP3 player exclusively to listen to audio books. It is very UNHELPFUL when the Fast Forward/Rewind function only allows me to go forward or back by some arbitrarily predetermined increments. My son tells me that ideally I should be able to move forward and back as I please by depressing the center button while scrolling the touch wheel. My i-pod does not do this. Following my son's advice, I only succeed in controlling the volume. Is it a design shortcoming of the I-Pod to not offer flexible ff/rwd? This is very, very annoying and had I known I would have to skip back and forth in 20-30 minute chunks I would have not purchased this product.

To ff or rew in the manner your son describes, you need to click the centre button once. You'll see a "diamond" shape in the progress bar at the bottom of the screen. Now you use the scroll wheel to ff or rew to your desired spot. After a few seconds the progress bar reverts to it's normal display.

  • X201 (6-cell)battery issue with windows 7 - massive drop in capacity

Appologies in advance for the long post.
Im running a thinkpad x201 on windows 7 and have recently had a major problem with the battery capacity.
The story is that id been running the laptop with no issue at all for about 9months. As it is curently my main system I upgraded the harddrive and reinstalled windows. For whatever reason when reinstalling windows it rejected my product key even after checking and re-checking the key.
I eventually gave up trying and just started using the system under installs grace period. After the install i made a point of checking the system stats to see that everything was running okay with the new hdd and noted the battrey was still at 94% of its original capacity(pretty good after 9 months!) . There was no noticable difference in performance and i was still getting 4.5+ hours out of the 6-cell battery.
This continued until the grace period expired on the windows install. After a few days I noticed that my system was running much hotter than usual and the battery didnt seem  to last as long. When i re-checked the battery capacity it was down to 78%. I could only assume that it was somhing to do with the windows install as there had been no problem until the validation expired, so naturally i immediately went through the activation procedure and it accepted the product key first time(go figure). After this the system returned to 'business as usual' temperature wise however the battery capacity continued falling and has now gone from the 78% to just 4%(!) in under three weeks.
Ive found online that on release 7 had a problem with laptop battery life but the issue has apparently been fixed. Ihad been using the laptop under the factory 7 install for 9 months with absolutely no issue, and for a further month with no noticeable difference after the install. However i doubt that the issue can really be anything else as it seems just a little too coincidental that the problem arose at exactly the time of the activation failure. I cant believe that after such excellent performance that the battery would die so quickly on its own.
So my question is does anyone know what on earth has happened here or has anyone experienced anything similar? Furthermore what if anything could anyone suggest just what i should do about this issue and if anything could be done to rescue the battery. Perhaps another install & reactivation of windows could possibly solve the issue there(if there is any).
Its gotten to the point that the laptop dies immediately when unplugged and i cant even run the battery reset tool as this also results in immediate shutdown. Ive also tried charging the battery on its own from ny ultrabase but same thing - it takes about a minute to say its reached 100% but then theres not even enough power to turn the system on. Im very reluctant to get a new battery at this point as i fear it may also become trashed in a month or two.
Interesting problem so ill leave it for the boards to decide what my best option may be. Ive removed the battery for now as obviously the cycle count has been increasing fairly rapidly since capacity fell below 10% in case theres a chance to save it. For reference these are a few key details of my battery as read from the ThinkVantage power manager:
    Full charge capacity: 2.21Wh
    Cycle count: 290
    Manufacture date: 2010-08-12
    Serial Number: 827
    Design Capacity: 62.16Wh

    [snip]

290 cycles is getting to pretty much the end-of-life for a LiOn battery, so whether you can believe it or not, the outcome is entirely predicatable.
Batteries are consumable items and you've had better-than-average run from yours, until close to end-of-life.

  • At a dead end.  A java student in need of help.

    I've hit a wall.
The program is supposed to allow the user to draw five different polygons using the polygon class and let the user pick the color for each polygon and move each polygon around the screen once it is filled in. The user clicks to add the points and then double clicks to fill in the polygon. Then the polygon is added to the array. Up to the dragging around the screen the program works fine. When I click on a polygon with the shift down nothing happens and I've spent several hours trying to figure out why.
I've placed several System.out.println's in the code and I think I've narrowed down the problem. (I hope) I think it might have something to do with the canvas repainting. Because the S.O.P's show that the program is going through and executing that code. It might also have something to the do with my polygon array, but to my knowledge that is setup fine.
Thanks a bunch if you try to help.

  • Ipod affears to be re-set to original factory settings each time I unplug

Hi, I recently updated both itunes and ipod, and now I keep having the above problem. The ipod is recognised in itunes, and my computer (XP). When I plug it in, itunes will open, then the ipod setup assistant opens. It will then appear to sync songs from my itunes - and by checking disk space in ipod properties from my computer, something is taking up space. But when i unplug, the language screen appears on my ipod, and there are no songs there. this happens each time i plug in or unplug. What can I do????????
    Thanks, Lou
    ipod   Windows XP

my i-pod did something similar. it showed on itunes that the memory was full, but no songs showed up.
i just reinstalled the i-tunes software and restored my ipod. that should work for you too.
    to restore goto
start > programs > i-pod > i-pod updater ->> then click on restore when the box opens. it should only take a matter of minutes to restore.
    hope that helps!

  • Glossary tab doesn't display and Glossary pop ups don't work

TCS 3.5 (FrameMaker 10, RoboHelp HTML, version 9)
    Windows XP version 5.1 sp3
    Internet Explorer 8.0
My apologizes if this should be in a different forum.  Also, from searching I have found that the problem is usually that the DLL has not been loaded -- I have done that. So I am at a loss. Thanks in advance for your help!
Problem: My .chm output does not have a Glossary tab and the Glossary text pop-ups in my topics do not work.
Background: Since I am new to TCS 3.5 I'm going to give my entire process. Quite frankly I'm not even sure if my entire process is correct.
    Steps:
Before I began: I loaded the HHActiveX.dll. Here's the proof:
    Create a blank project.
Import master page (File > Import > Master Page).
Load project settings (File > Project Settings > Import).
Link FrameMaker Book (File > Link > FrameMaker Document)
Configure Properties (Right-click the book file in RH and click Properties).
In Properties, select Convert FrameMaker Table of Contents and give a name.
In Properties, select Convert Glossary and give a name.
In Project Manager pod, right-click the Glossary topic (System Management GLO) and click Set as Default.
Update Project (File > Update > Update All).
Run Glossary Hotspot Wizard (when running wizard, select the glossary topic that was set as default in step 8)
Edit the UpdateMarkedGlossaryTerms.jsx script (change the GlossaryName variable to the Glossary topic created in step 8 and change the GlossaryStyle variable to TextPopUp)
Run Update Marked Glossary Terms script (In Script Explorer pod, right-click the UpdateMarkedGlossaryTerms.jsx script and click Run).
Run graphicinreferencepages.jsx script (this inserts my note graphics from FM reference pages)
Configure Microsoft HTML Help layout.  Here's the properties file:
    16. In the properties file I selected the Glossary topic that I had set as my default in step 8.
    17. Click Save and generate.
Result: In the .chm file (and in View Selected Item in RH) when I click a glossary term in a topic, I get "This program cannot display the webpage". Also, the Glossary tab is not displayed.

    Welcome to our community, Linda
In RoboHelp, if you open the Glossary pod (View > Pods > Glossary > Select Glossary) do you see terms and definitions listed there?
If not, that would explain it as the Glossary has no entries.
Assuming it does have entries, you may simply need to enable the tab by clicking View > Pods > Project Set-up. Expanding the Windows section in the pod and double-clicking your CHM window.
A CHM window looks like this:
If you don't see a CHM window, you will need to create one. If you do see a CHM window, double-click it. Then ensure the Glossary is enabled.

  • TOC Style

Though the TOC Style "Always Show Selection" has been checked but still in the generated chm file using RoboHelp 10 does not close the book.  When a user navigates from one link to another from topics, the related topic is not displayed.  The other books remain open, the related book from where the html file gets displayed is not displayed.  Can anyone help me with this.
    Soni

Rick will still be in bed right now.
What you are showing is a webhelp window. In theSSL pod, set Microsoft HTML help to be the default, unless you are using Rh10. Then go the Project Set Up pod and create a new window, in Rh 10 you will get an option for the window type.
In the new window you will see the required option.
Make sure you select that window when generating the help.
