Windows XP resolution issue on 27" iMac
I've got windows XP installed on my 27" iMac through bootcamp but it's all stretched out. I'm assuming this is because of the high resolution of the 27" iMac and no matter what resolution i choose the screen looks all stretched out. Anyone know a fix?
Did you ever find a way to fix the resolution? I have the same issue. My guess is that there must be an updated driver.

Hi Guys,
I just updated my 27 inch iMac to Mavericks and can't get my third party 27inch Samsung screen to run at maximum resolution. Even when using the "Alt" Click and select Scale shortcut I cant display the 2560 x 1440 resolution the screen is capable of.
I've called apple support and they couldn't rectify the issue nor could samsung. I've even tried the monitor in another iMac updated to mavericks and have the same issue.
Im connecting using a mini display port to DVI cable through my thunderbolt port.
My machine is Mid 2011 27inch iMac 3.1ghz core i5 with AMD Radeon HD graphics card upgraded to Mavericks
Monitor is brand new 27 Samsung SyncMaster SA850. I was able to get it to work at max resolution on a Windows 7 PC.
Any help would be appreciated. Thinking of returning the screen, hopefully Samsung will take it back.
- CThe standard > Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter only supports 24" monitor resolutions up to 1920 x 1200.
For a larger monitor you need either a > Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
or perhaps a simple Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable if your monitor supports DisplayPort input. -
Windows 7 bootcamp issues for new iMac 27
I bought an iMac 27 on Friday. Have used bootcamp on an older mac previously with no issues. I've tried now for several days to instal windows 7 without success. I've tried to 32 and 64 bit versions and both lead to either a blue or black screen freeze. I've also tried deleting the ATI.sys file but this also hasn't worked.
Would appreciate a walkthrough of how I can sort this (please put it in
Laymans terms as I am not particularly systems literate.)Can only suggest starting with "iMac Black Screen"

My new company installed Adobe Creative Cloud (There was some annoying Proxy issues at first, because of the seriously tight I.T policies) but we are having some serious resolution issues with After Effects CC 2014 (also have this resolution problem with Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Muse) on Windows 8.1 Pro on a Dell Precision M3800 laptop with icons and interface looking too small and hard to see, is there a fix, an update or a work around, can anyone help?
Any help will be appreciated!
k.regards
RamonHi Todd is there a time-frame for this fix, there is a lot of pressure on me, because I convinced my company to get the Creative Cloud and quite a lot of the CC software is not compatible with the latest Windows 8.1 OS.
Is there at least a work around, until this big fix comes along?

Macbook Pro 15" Retina Windows 7 HDMI Resolution issue
Hello,
I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro 15" with Retina display running bootcamp with Windows 7.
I have connected the Macbook to an external HP w2448hc display using HDMI interface.
When booting to OS X 10.9.4, the resolution of the external display is set to 1920x1200 and it looks fine. See picture below:
However, when booting to Windows 7 the resolution on the external display looks lower (although shows up as 1920x1200):
I have another PC which I have connected to the same display with HDMI and the resolution also shows up as 1920x1200. However, in this case the resolution indeed looks as the correct one:
Although not seen very well from the screen shots, both the PC and the Macbook Pro (with Windows 7) show the same resolution in the settings, but the desktop and icons under Macbook Pro (bootcamp) look bigger and with smaller resolution.
Does anyone know how to solve this?Hi,
I managed to fix this resolution issue by lowering the color depth to 16bit for the external display. Not exactly sure why was this necessary, maybe for some reason Windows cannot allocate enough video memory for both displays? -
IMac and Windows 7 Heat Issues
I have recently decided to install Windows 7 on my 21.5" iMac with an Nvidia Gforsce 9400m GPU as I wanted to play certain games that Wine and mac equivalent prevent me from playing multi-player. Well I have successfully got Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit installed and running fun however I have noticed with the Bootcamp 3.1 drivers my iMac is running at double normal heat. Averaging 60oC rather than the normal 40oC/30oC.
This has made the top left and back of the iMac become very hot to touch as the GPU jumps up to 62oC when not being used.
I was wondering what I could do to get the fans to do there work, as even at this temp they still run slow and never really change RPM at all.
Also is it possible to download GPU drivers from the manufacture's site rather than ones supplied by Bootcamp?
ThanksFINALLY - SOLUTION FOUND !!!
Everyone was / is talking permissions - and finally found something at
http://superuser.com/questions/100645/windows-7-drive-pshared-with-everyone-but- not-accessible-by-windows-xp-compu
On PC - right click harddrive you want to access
Select properties
Select security tab
Click advanced
Click change permissions
Click add
Type Guest in the object name box
Click check name (to make sure ok)
Click OK
Tick allow full control
Click ok
Click apply
Click continue on any error messages.
Now from iMac - get to "Connect to Server" (CMD+K) and enter normal smb:// pathname (to access my photos drive is use smb://office-pc/photos
Enter Windows PC Username/Password at prompt - and presto - all now accessible
I hope this helps others out too. -
Elements 11 Organizer window is truncated at top, on iMac running 10.9.2, so I can't use Share function, etc.
Thank you very much. I changed the resolution from 2048 x 1152 to 1600 x 900, and it showed the bar with the Import, Media ... Create, Share buttons, but did not show the bar at the very top with the red, yellow and green buttons for closing, hiding and maximizing the window.
Then I noticed that Apple had an update to Mavericks available. Since I installed that, I can set the resolution back to 2048 x 1152 and still see the Import, etc. bar. I can live without the Close and Maximize buttons, but it does seem like there is a bug lurking here that either Adobe or Apple needs to fix. -
Windows size / resolution when connecting via scvmm console
Hi
right... please see attached screenshot for my problem..
As you can see... the windows is the usual size, but the server VM it is displaying is not showing as it should.. something has gone wrong with the display settings..
The only resolution I've found, is to restart the server.. which isn't really an option with this server... it will cause quite a lot of problems....
What can I do to fix this?
I've tried the obvious stuff like dragging the window to increase the size etc... stuff like that..
but it must be something on the server since it fixes it self when I reboot an affected server...
Has anyone else seen this?
and what can I do to fix it :)
Kindest regards, MartinA co-worker found this answer today:
"After a new Hyper-V VMMS certificate is generated, there are mouse and screen resolution issues when managing a virtual machine using the Hyper-V Manager Console"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2413735
Hope this helps!
To elaborate on the symptoms, here is what I found in addition to some of the people in this thread:
It took a while to figure out how to log in without seeing the screen while logging in.
The fact that you have to click in the scvmm window to lock the mouse in the scvmm session is a dead giveaway that it is ISC problems (and you have to press ctrl + alt + left arrow [or sometimes windows key] to release).
The mouse cursor does not show up (but is still functional). Left and right mouse movements are normal, but up and down are reversed. The mouse buttons are also reversed in function occasionally.
Once I figured this out, I was able to figure out how to open up the resolution screen and move around. I set the screen resolution own to 800x600 and now I can see the whole screen. I set it back to 1024x768 and I can see the whole screen.
But then we found the above 2413735 article and that seems to fix everything with a reboot or save state. -
Bootcamp Windows Screen Resolution/Blurry?
Hello. Running Bootcamp on new Macbook Pro, installed and also running Win XP Pro. When using Windows the resolution on the screen seems just a little blurry/fuzzy. Definately not as sharp as the screen when running the Mac OS. (Also had the same issue with older Macbook Pro with bootcamp also). I've adjusted all display properties and nothing really improves it. I know its it's Windows, but is it possible to make the resolution sharper?
Thanks.Lion is 10.7.1
Boot Camp incl with Lion is 4.0
If you have older Mac OS X discs, well, the new 2011s are totally different changed hardware motherboard chipset and you won't find drivers even if you try using BC 3.0.
So goodbye to 10 yr plus OS that is EOL no longer getting patches and updates and 20X vulnerable as a Windows 7 64-bit (or even play with free Windows 8 Deve Preview, but expect a few things to need tweeks). -
Hi All
Does anyone know how to enable the "Delete" key for logging on the Windows 7 partition on the latest iMac, via the latest Apple wireless keyboard - the standard wired apple keyboard works fine via this key but not the new wireless keyboard?
Many ThanksHoly crap, this fixes the issue. At least temporarily it has. I should add that my issue was single finger forward/back swipe stopped working on the magic mouse in Firefox since Mavericks came along. I have been fighting this since I upgraded to Mavericks a few months ago. Thank you, tbirdvet. You have no idea how much easier you just made using my iMac again.

Bootcamp Issue – Late 2009 iMac running Yosemite
Hi there,
I'm having some issues installing Windows 7 on my late 2009 iMac running 10.10.1 and I'm hoping someone can help. I'm using the latest version of Bootcamp (5.1.2)
I keep getting a black screen during the final step of installing Windows 7. I did some research and discovered that this is a common issue. Apple even created a support page for it. Much to my disappointment, downloading the prescribed drivers did not solve the problem. I followed the instructions word for word and even tried a few times. I erased the partition and started fresh each time.
All of the forum threads about this issue I've read are pretty out-dated and I can't find anyone with the same issue on Yosemite.
Has anyone else come across this issue or have any suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
JacksonCan you also post the output of sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s4 count=1 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C ? This will dump the partition header which can confirm the format of Windows partition.

Pixma ip6000d windows 7 driver issue. How do you get one?
Has anyone solved the windows 7 driver issue? The canon website does not have one yet is reported windows 7 capatable.
Hello ricksterofmi,
The PIXMA iP6000D Drivers are included with the Windows 7 Operating System through Windows Update. Please connect the PIXMA iP6000D to your computer and automatically install the drivers. Once this has been done, visit our website by selecting this LINK to download and install the Add On Module for full compatibility.
I hope this helps.

I'm installing windows 7 64-bit on my imac which I've done before but I get a message that the partition is GPT even after I format the bootcamp partition. I just upgraded my hard drive to a 3tb and I'm allocating 1tb for windows. How can I fix this?
No easy fix for a few reasons:
1) Bootcamp requires a hybrid MBR for the partition table. That is: both an MBR and a GPT partition table at the same time with the GPT one having all partitions and the MBR one having only the ones that are relevant, but at most 4 of them (including the protective partition and the Macintosh HD one). Which leads us to:
2) The MBR part of the hybrid partition table cannot work with 3TB hard drives. MBR is limited to 2TB.
I am working on a small EFI app that can boot Windows in EFI mode on a Mac and that would mean that you can go GPT only on your system. The progress of the app is slow due to the nature of EFI and for now requires that you do an unattended Windows install with slipstreamed graphics drivers, but we are adding VGA loading on top of EFI quite soon after the rest of the app stabilises. The status of the app is documented at:
Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI (no bios emulation)
Windows does actually successfully boot in EFI mode on most Macs (anything with a 64bit EFI should work), but does not have graphics support even if you load the driver due to the VGA pci registers not being set by the firmware. Furthermore, in Setup and Safe Mode, Windows uses VGA instead of GOP which is a failure by design since VGA is a BIOS standard and not really compatible without hacks with EFI. Other EFI implementations also add VGA compatibility at a high cost to the firmware complexity for the VGA cards available on the market that don't actually contain anything in their ROM except the VGA BIOS.
My recomendations:
1) Install on a second smaller hard-drive; or
2) Wait for the EFI app to come out officially and use that to boot Windows Vista SP1 x64 and Windows 7 x64 (RTM and SP1) in the native EFI mode.
3) Wait for Windows 8 which supports VGA-less booting acording to the AMD presentation at UEFI Plugfest. -
Sharing, SMB, all that stuff is enabled on my iMac. The Windows 7 PC can see my iMac in "Network Neighborhood", but when I double-click on my iMac it fails to login -- doesn't like username or password, presumably.
The iMac can see the Windows 7 PC and can log into individual user accounts on it, perform file transfers, etc. Just not the other way around.
The iMac's computer name is "iMac" and the username is "Larry". The Windows 7 PC pre-fills the login username as "\iMac\Larry" and from what I've scanned in these forums, that's supposed to work. But it does not.
If I choose the "login with other user name" option in the Windows 7 dialog box, I can type in any username but nothing works -- just "Larry", "\\iMac\Larry", etc., etc.
What am I missing? This used to be so simple.
Thx...My best recommendation for the last 4 or 5 years has to been to only buy network (ethernet) printers. There are many available for under $100. Why put yourself and your office through constant changes caused by upgrading or changing computers? If the printer manufacturer makes drivers for your printer for the OS you want to use, then you're done.
This way, all of your OS's work with the printer in their own way, without having to make considerations for bugs or new services, or changes in the way the OS works on a particular computer. Also, if a computer dies, it doesn't take down your shared printer with it. The other computers don't have to even be turned on for you to print.
