Windows XP SP2 failing to install on new P35 Neo2

First post, so I hope I've got it all straight.. if not, bear with me :D
I've built a brand new rig (components in sig), everything is connected, and I try to install Windows XP with built-in SP2.  The installation is halting with the "Stop 0x0000007B" error.  I check that my optical drive is set to Master, so no problem there.  I'm using XP with built-in SP2, so that should deal with the problems I've read about concerning installing with earlier versions of XP.  All my components are connected and powered, and I can go to the BIOS setup without a problem.
So I've got two questions:
1 - does the SATA port that the HDD is connected to matter?  I am not using a RAID setup, just one single SATA HDD.
2 - It seems like the way for me to go will be to use the floppy drive and F6 to install the drivers during the Windows setup... but on the CD that comes included with this motherboard, there are a TON of SATA-related drivers... which ones would I actually need?  From the driver download list here on the MSI site, there's a set of drivers explicitly for RAID, but none for just plain old SATA.
It seems that most of the threads here with SATA and fresh Windows install issues had their problems solved just by using an XP disk that has integrated SP2, but that doesn't seem to be the case for me :(
Thanks in advance to anybody who can offer some help!

Multi-part fix for me:
- Advice to switch to IDE mode from AHCI was good, but did not fix it.
- I needed a Windows XP SP3 disk.
With both of those together, it's working!
Thanks!

Also Microsoft Tinker, Dreamscene, Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET framework 3.5 Family update (KB951847) and others failed too.

Further examination showed, that the problem lies in the expired digital signatures
of the MSI-s that clickonce tries to download.
    Please see attached image Capture.PNG.
I also reported this bug to the Microsoft Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/1082242/clickonce-unable-to-install-localdb-2012-on-windows-vista-sp2
The problematic MSI-s shoud be signed again. Can I expect from Microsoft to resolve
    this?
    Hello,
Based on your description, it seems that this issue only occurs on  Windows Vista SP2, and I get that connect you shared and have helped to vote it.
I think that Microsoft engineers will evaluate them seriously and provide you better support. In addition, you can post the answer here once the issue is resolved.

  • Failed to Install The New Preview Build. Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.

    Hello,
I'm having issues upgrading my Windows 10 Technical Preview installation build 9879 to a newer build that's become available late January 23rd.
I am installing the new upgrade in a Hyper-V virtual machine and get the following error:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80246007
    What could be the problem?
Previously I've had messages that Windows cannot be upgraded on a computer with less than 2 Gbyte of RAM. That's a Hyper-V VM with dynamic memory and I was highly surprised to see this error; never had this before. Had to set 2048 Mbytes as a minimum memory
for this VM. Now that I have this 80246007 error code.
When looking up System log, the following error messages are listed multiple times:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.
The errors are returned for the Event ID 20 by WindowsUpdateClient
in task category Windows Update Agent..
    I reviewed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
registry key as suggested in Windows
Insider stuck on build 9841 - "No new preview build was found", and here is what it shows:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]
    "BranchName"="fbl_awesome1501"
    "ThresholdRiskLevel"="low"
    "ThresholdOptedin"=dword:00000001
Note, when attempting to install the downloaded update from a native boot, installation starts with no errors.
However, since setup is not supported for a natively booted VHD files, it does not proceed further showing a message that installation on virtual drives is not supported.
Looks like Setup is having problems installing in a Hyper-V virtual machine.
Possibly, some ESD files got corrupted during downloading? Is it possible to remove them and re-download missing files? (I, however, noticed that Windows seems to re-download upgrade files after you restart 9879 and attempt to check for a new build.
Any clue why installing under VM causes 9926 to fail?
    Thank you in advance.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

    Hi,
According to the error message, this problem seems like update package installation failed during system upgrade.
You can try to remove ESD file which locate at boot of C drive and upgrade the system again for test.
On the other hand, make sure the system 9879 installed all Windows pushed updates before system upgrade.

  • Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0xC1900107

I'm trying to upgrade Windows 10 TP for Enterprise to the new build 8460, but I keep getting the error message
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0xC1900107
I don't find any reference to that error code. I've seen similar reports in the forum, but with different error codes and with the message "Failed to upgrade" rather than "Failed to install". I haven't played with the reg keys on this
    system.
The event viewer shows the following event:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0xC1900107: fbl_release 9860 Enterprise.
The upgrade to a non-Enterprise device started at the same time went through without problems.
    Alberto

    Hi Russell,
    What’s the situation now?
There would be a cause that the upgrade is running background, so a retry would fail in this situation.
You can check the action log  in C:\$Windows.~BT\source\panther\setupact.log
Check the time line to see if it is running for upgrade.

Hello, I'm trying to update my Windows 10 to the new build and it's not possible in my computer.
In PC Settings\Preview Build I get this error as a result after trying to install the new update:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80070032
EDIT: After trying the solution posted here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/66f82aff-9411-4c5f-a34f-e3172df32925/preview-build-failed-to-download-0x80246018?forum=WinPreview2014Setup
Now I have different error 0x80240024

    Hi,
Did you find the error during downloading or installing process? Have you cleared the SoftwareDistribution folder and check the issue again?
It would be better if you can check the event viewer and windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log), find related information, upload the log to OneDrive for further analysis.

  • Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later 0xC1900204

I upgraded in-place from Windows 8.1 to Build 9926. I am unable to upgrade past 9926.
Windows Update finds the new preview build on both fast and slow rings. It downloads it successfully. Upon attempting to install, it fails.
I get a screen overlay with the message:
Can't update to Windows 10 Technical Preview
Sorry, it looks like this PC can't run Windows 10 Technical Preview. This might be because the Users or Program Files folder is being redirected to another partition.
Closing the overlay and returning to the "Update & recovery" screen, I see the error in red: Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later 0xC1900204

    Hi Isilverman,
As we have Windows 10 install Media available at hand, might we consider to do a dual boot of Windows 10 and Windows 8.1?
Based on the information you posted, it seems to be that the current Windows 8.1 environment is not suitable to do an Upgrade.
Another thing I would like to share is the information listed in the thread below:
Problems with disk space and installation time in builds 10041
and 10049 of Windows 10 Technical Preview

  • Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80070003

I am currently running build 9841. When I try to install the new preview build I get the following error
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later.  0x80070003
I have installed all updates and I am a full administrator of this machine.  If someone could fix this I would be very happy.

    Hi bgelbach,
Have you downloaded the 9879 build?
Before Windows setup runs, it would do some check on perquisites, one thing is space check.
When the new build is downloaded, it is located under C:\windows\software distribution\download
folder, which is about 2.7G. Make sure you have enough space for installation.
If everything goes well, it would extract files to C:\$WINDOWS.~BT folder.

Doesn't matter what is in your library.
When I moved computers I literally dragged and dropped the music where I wanted it to be. THen when I opened iTunes I imported the files back into iTUnes
This creates a new library with all the same items but you lose a lot of info: Ratings, comments, date added, custom EQ, playlists, etc.
If you simply copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder, it is the exact same library, not a new library. No info is lost.

your kernel. i'd recommend you to do that first:
    cp /boot/System.map26 /boot/System.map26.old
    cp /boot/vmlinuz26 /boot/vmlinuz26.old
in case of problem with your newly installed kernel, edit the grub entry at boot according to the new back-up names above.
    then simply:
    pacman -Uf kernel26-snapshot-2.6.31-rc6-git6-i686.pkg.tar.gz
also, why has mkinitcpio been removed? reinstall it before installing your new kernel.

  • Windows 8 has failed to install

I have trouble installing Windows 8 on my 2012 15" MacBook Pro
I currently use windows 7 on my bootcamp partition works fine, tried upgrading to windows 8, with the windows 8 assistant goes through the loops. When installing seems to be going fine but then at some point during the process the screen just goes black and turns off; thinking this is part of the install, I left it do its thing. But 45 minutes later still the same status so I turn on my Mac boots into windows and shows the boot logo but goes into a black screen state, I force turn off then reboot again, then it saids "windows has failed to install restoring previous version of windows" and restores back to windows 7.
Anyone know why this is happening? I really want windows 8 on my computer

I don't believe Windows 8 is compatible as yet with Boot Camp.

  • Windows XP (SP2) Laptop only finds generic "New USB 2.0 Device"

    Hi -
I've had a 3rd generation IPod running fine on this machine - on my old USB 1.1 port. Now I've added two new USB 2.0 Ports, and have been trying to connect a nano, but all I get is "Found new USB 2.0 Device", and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" starts, but ends up being unable to install the new hardware because it cannot find a driver (on the CD or elsewhere). In the device manager, there's a "USB 2.0 Device" listed with a question mark. I've run all the Apple help things, including the 5Rs, and adjusted the power management issue. I've de-installed and re-installed everything, and re-started like a gazillion times.
Before I de-installed it, the USB 2.0 port also found the older IPod, just not the nano. I've found a "hotfix" helppage from microsoft for this sort of issue, but not the actual hotfix files (it says to contact customer service for it, but - typically MS - that is not available for people like me with machines that are more than a week old).
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

  • Security Update for Windows XP KB979482 Fails to Install

The KB979482 update continually fails to install with a 0x8007F007 error code. It has done so from Boot Camp 2.0 through 3.2. Windows XP Pro SP3 is installed and all other critical and optional updates have installed without problem. Currently running Boot Camp 3.2, OS X 10.5.6. As best as I can determine the error code means the update found the system waiting for a reboot following a previously installed update and cancels the installation. Of course there have been a number of reboots. I have tried to install the update with the Firewall and Bitdefender anti-virus on and off.
    Any help is appreciated.

Ok slap me, the solution was too easy. Did a manual download of the update at the following address. Executed the downloaded file and the update installed. Checked that the updated was successfully installed by running Windows update and it no longer showed up as needing to be done.

    Seriously Microsoft?
Here's the thing, I received a call from my dear mom about this issue. She's not computer expert and never will be. She has no idea how to turn anything off from computer. But she's annoyed that she has to start up computer every
single time now twice because some one of Q&A fucked up. Your given solution is Invalid! Please come to solution what even 50 year old can do with out some sort understanding how to go ms config and disable startup programs and
    run disk checks.
This update confusion makes me want go and buy my mom Apple, and then you guys have meetings on MS wondering why apple does so good. This is the reason. Everyone aren't computer wizards and rather overpay things on first day than pay
to some long haired WoW player every single time when MS Q&A fuck's up. This is second time in 30 days when I have to travel to my moms house ( 140 miles ) fix something what you guys fucked up.
Next time I send you a bill and you can debate abut it in EU highest court.
Wow, that's pretty harsh, Taavi.  You seem to have a pretty narrow-minded idea of how many
hundred of thousands of different configurations Microsoft has to support with a single, unified update system.  Go get your mom an Apple - see how that works out for you.  Something tells me you haven't
bitched or moaned about the hundreds of other updates that DID seamlessly, automatically and silently install - but now you're all venom and hate towards Microsoft for missing a small detail somewhere in in a massive list of possible configurations.
You might try using RDP or some other readily available tool to allow remote access to the box without having to drive 140 miles to dear mom's house.  That's how I take care of my parent's machines, and it's worked well for me.  Then again, I like
seeing my parents - any chance I get, and I generally get a home cooked meal out of the deal.
If you can stop acting like a douche bag long enough to actually try and troubleshoot the problem, you likely would have figured out of to solve this issue yourself.  You're one of those kinds of people who LOVE to Bandwagon-bash Microsoft
when it's convenient for you, but the rest of the time you silently LOVE to use their products.
Whatever you do, don't give Microsoft any credit for their successes - that bitter pill just might drive you over the edge.
Flames aside, here's what I did to get these particular updates to install.  It seems that KB2515325 is the hinge that's making or breaking these installs from working one-after-another.  I installed all the updates I could, did a reboot, and was
left with the 4 KB's mentioned.  I didn't download the standalone updates, either - I used Windows Update.  Here's what I did to get them all to install on my 64-Bit system:
Install KB2492386 by itself - unselect all other updates
    Reboot
Install KB2515325 by itself - unselect all other updates
    Reboot
Install KB2522422 by itself - unselect all other updates.  I was not asked to reboot after this update.
Check for updates again, and you should only have KB982018 left.  Install KB982018.
Reboot one last time, then everything will hopefully have taken.
If that works for you, Taavi, be sure and give me your address so I can send
you a bill for providing you step-by-step instructions.
