Windows XP SP3 Freezes After Installation of Nvidia Quadro FX3000

Greetings to all!  I have an older Dell running Windows XP SP3.  It had an Nvidia Quadro FX1000 which began going bad and I replaced with a Quadro FX3000 model.  The drivers I downloaded from Nvidia's web site were the most recent qualified
drivers (yep, they were old, but still the correct drivers).  After of the installation of the card and the drivers Windows boots normally to the logon screen.  After typing in my password Windows tells me its loading my personal settings, then freezes
with no further activity.  I'm unable to use the mouse at that point and can't shut down gracefully.
I can boot successfully into Windows via Safe Mode and log on using my password.  However, the system always hangs after logging on when I just boot straight into Windows without using safe mode.
Can anyone weigh in with a possible reason for this to occur.  It's driving me crazy.  I'm sure the answer is right in front of me, I'm just not seeing it.
Thanks in advance!

Hi!
I know its almost a month since you posted, but I would boot in to safe mode, remove the display drivers and install an older version of the driver. For instance the driver that was released before the latest one.
This has done the trick for me a few times with other hardware!
Best regards

  • System freezes after installation of version 11.5.502.149

WindowsXp, Firefox, Flash player 11.5.502.149 - I have made 2 attempts to load latest version; both times when I have restarted my system Windows will only load to Wallpaper and then stops- I waited for atleast 30 minutes - no program icons, no taskbar etc,  Have used safe mode to uninstall flash player, did registry fix, have used system restore, still will not load. Did chkdsk - no apparent disk problems - but then after attempting to restart several times after long wait finally loaded. System will now restart, but as this happened after installation of flash player 2x I am unwilling to retry. - and now can not reload older version of flashplayer.   - have recently installed other program updates and have not had system freeze so do not think it is a general installation problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Pat
Trying to install an older version I got a message something to the effect that a newer version is available and program does not install. By hunting around the support areas on Adobe I did find a page that noted that if for some reason the new version did not work an older version was archived and a link.. so I did find an older version that would load.. of course I had to find a Zip program to unzip the file and it did try the same message ... there were 2 unzipped versions - only one worked but I do now have a working version albeit of Flash Player.
I googled for WindowsXp freezing and found a number of bulletin boards/forums that discussed solutions - which were pretty much what I did. Typically it happened after installing a new or updated program. No reasons were mentioned as to why or what was happening and the solutions of starting in safe mode, uninstalling, restoring, chkdsk are all sort of hit and miss... if one doesn't work try another... with the final solution being reload windows.. of course my version came installed and I don't have a backup disk so I imagine that would be another day or two of  total frustration... so I guess I will avoid trying to update the flash player as long as possible.  I have my system set up to only allow updates I have confirmed.
    Thanks for your prompt response.

  • WinXP Acrobat 8 freeze after installation

    Hello,
i installed Acrobat 8.1.0 on a AMD Dual Core System with XP SP2.
With all Windows, Adobe Updates and OfficeXP.
After double click on the Icon, the acrobat starts up.
    but freeze after 3-5 sec.
I've installed from CD and Harddisk (Acrobat KB*).
Even a new installation, only with Mainboard drivers and without
any Update or without Office, the Acrobat freeze.
The System self is operation normal. A Kill with the Task-Manager is
    possible.
    My System:
    AMD Dual Core 4450e / ASUS M3N Mainboard / 2GB RAM
Windows XP VOL with included SP2
    OfficeXP or Office 2003
    Has anybody an idea?
    Thanks
    Matthias
PS: Sorry for my damning english.

    Hallo J.R.,
sorry, that i answer so late. The Problem is actual.
Yes i deleted all files in the Temp-Dir,
before i installed / run Acrobat.
I run the System with minimal Services and auto/manual
    started Flexnet service.
The System freeze again. I start Regmon and Filemon from MS,
i found some buffer overflows, but there are no
    abnormal exceptions.
Is there any chance to aktivate a Logmode or to deaktivate some
    features before i start Acrobat?
    Thanks

  • Windows 7 Pro freezes after a few sec

    Hello,

What can I do? Please help
    Greetings from Germany,
    Max

After Windows gets installed, inserted Apple OS X DVD (in Windows) and install 3.0 and then check Apple Software Update (still Windows) to get 3.1 and 3.2.
Shame that you can't just go straight to 3.2.
Did you give Windows 32-49GB space?
Which version? 32-bit? from DVD? OEM?

  • Acarbat Freezed after installation and run it for Mac Pro!

    Dear all,
I tried to install Acrobat 9 Pro to one station this morning (or install
Adobe Reader 9 couple days ago), but the system hanged after installation
and ran it. Clicking "force quit", it showed that "Acrobat (no response)".
Following are the general description about the workstation and it is
    connected to Mac server.
Workstation which tried to install Acrobat 9 Pro:
    - Mac Pro Processor: 2* 3GHz Dual-core Intel Xeon
    - Memory: 4GHz
    - Mac OS X 10.5.6
    Server
    - Mac Pro Processor: Dual 2 GHz Power PC G5
    - Memory: 3GHz
    - Mac OS X Server 10.5.6
    - Service: AFP, FTP, Open Directory (control the use login for all
    workstations)
    Installation procedures:
    - Login the workstation as an Administrator (local)
    - Install Acrobat 9 PRO
    - Registration
    - Shut down the workstation after installation
    - Restart the workstation
    - Use my unique name to login (all my files are stored in Server)
    Problem:
    - Double-click "Acrobat 9 Pro" to run the software, it hangs
    or
    - Click one PDF file and use "Open with" to select "Acrobat 9 Pro", it
    hangs again.
Does anyone have the same situation or have any idea to solve this
    problem?
I really appreciate your kind help.
    Best,

Home>Library>Preferences>com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.  Trash this file, repair permissions and restart your computer.  Empty the trash when done.
P.S.  If you shut down your computer, the window should have disappeared.  Why didn't you use Force Quit?

  • My iMac freezes after installation of Mavericks

My iMac set. with the new Mavericks has started freezing, or going into sleep mode, and will not wake up.  I have to hold the power button in for about ten seconds to force it to close down, wait a few seconds, the press power button again and it will boot normally.
It will sometimes just freeze the screen, and other times go to a blank screen.  Nothing will wake it up.
    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

I have had consistent freezes after my MBP (15 in 2.4/2.2 GHz) goes to sleep since I installed Mavericks.  When it's frozen, the fan is going hard, but nothing will wake it up -- not mouse motion, key presses (including "force quit" chord), closing and opening lid, etc.  I have to force a shutdown with the power button, and restart it.
The only thing I've found to prevent the freeze is to prevent going to sleep.  There's nothing that I recognize as suspicious in the console log.  I've reinstalled Mavericks, I've fixed permissions, I've repaired the hard drive, I've removed plugins.  I don't know what else to try.  So I'm looking for suggestions, please!

  • Setup Assistant Freezes after installation.. cannot complete setup

Hi - I recently installed an Apple DVD RAM drive in my 450Mhz B&W G3. As far as I know it meets the system requirements - it has 640MB RAM and built in firewire.
Anyway, I was upgrading from OS 10.2.8 and I kept getting an error. So I ran the disk utility and sure enough, there was an error - and one that it couldn't fix. So I backed up all my files and decided to clean install, and it worked perfectly.
Installation had no problems, and it got completely through to the setup assistant. Except, now it got to the "select keyboard language: English, Canadian or "view all languages" - when I select English and click "continue" it freezes. Sometimes I get the spinning colorful wheel, and othertimes, it just stays frozen. After about 10 minutes, it comes back to where I can click "continue again" When I do, the continue button goes grey and it just sits there idling again.
Anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it? Thanks!
    Tim

never mind, it simply needed more time - I left it for a few hours and came back and it finally made it to the next screen! Weird.

  • Explorer and Computer freezes after installation of Creative Cloud

First I had a hard time installing the programs, because the downloads always froze and I had to do it over and over. From the first start of the adobe application manager my computer were stopping, froze in and did not shut down anymore. And I have trouble using the internet, because my explorer is freezing all the time, too. Than I have to restart the whole system, until it freezes again. And the Computer as always been resetted the hard way, what brings up the Windows "the computer did not shut down..." screen and is really anoying.
System HP with 10 Gigs Memory, Intel I7 quad processor, 3600 mhz, Windows 7, NVIDIA 620

No issus with Win 7 before, no error messages.  The computer starts normal, stays normal, as long as I do not use one of the Adobe products. I can start all programs, work with the programs, go into the internet, shut it down normal. As soon as I work with a application from adobe, I can use the programs, work with them , but as soon, as I try to go to the internet, i get no connection. Shutting down does not work, the computer freezes on the "shutting down" screen. Disconect power, start again, I can find no other reason than the Adobe Application manager, but creative cloud needs this thing on to work. As long as this thing is not in use, every thing is normal. I was trying ti re-install , but it did not change. The manager also keeps to "forget" my Adobe ID and is asking for it over and over.

  • Windows XP instantly freezes after login

    Hey,
So lately I've been having some problems with Windows XP. It seems that my MBP will completely freeze up and become unresponsive, when I finally get it to work via voodoo or go into safe mode the event log shows nothing wrong.
WXP works just fine for a second or two, but it seems that when it reaches a certain step in the startup something will be loaded that just makes it freeze up. This is not present in safemode, as it works just fine. I've no idea what it is though - how would you go about figuring this out?

    HI Timothy,
would you mind me asking where were you able to download bootcamp 1.2, i've been having the same problems as well.. very time consuming. but i have a solution once that happens, upon login, immediately press "CTRLaltDEL" then choose "LOGOUT" then login again, that works for me most of the time.

  • Windows 7 Boot Issues (After Installation via Boot Camp)

    Hi All
Today I attempted to install Windows 7 x64 on my mac via boot camp.
The install went fine, and I installed the necessary drivers using my Mac OSX Install DVD.
When I restarted I could select Windows as the disc I wanted to boot into, but after selecting it, I only saw the white blinking cursor at the top left hand side of the screen for a few seconds before the computer restarted and booted into OSX.
I tried it a few more times just to make sure it wasn't a one off.
I then inserted my Windows install disc and attempted to repair startup. There were no issues detected.
I can also successfully boot into Windows 7 through VMWare Fusion in OSX, leading me to believe that there must be some thing wrong on the Mac end of booting (although I'm not familiar with the booting process in Mac, so I'm not really sure).
If anyone has any idea what's wrong, I'd really like a hand!
    Thanks

  • I am using Firefox 5, latest beta on Windows XP SP3. After installing the latest beta the links to the different channels (aurora, beta, release) no longer appears in the about Firefox window. What happened?

    See question.

Looks like the Channel Switcher was removed from Aurora 6.0a2 and Nightly 7.0a1, too, sometime between the 06-09 versions and today's builds (06-13).

  • Windows freezes after seconders

After signing in windows will let me browse for30 seconds then it freezes up and only the mouse will move but I can't click on anything. Please help

    Hi @john-giarritta1 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion with Windows 8.1 freezing after logging in to it. Here is a link to resolving computer freezes.
    Did you install new software?
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.
