Windows XP stuck at logo screen

I continue to have "problems" with Windows XP Startup on my iMac running Boot Camp.
I restored my XP back to the point when it last booted without any problem. It then booted without any problem. Then when I restart or shut down and boot again, I am stuck at the XP logo screen again, and I have to power off and start again, choosing to use the last good configuration. I have turned on the switch to generate the boot log file, but it does not appear to have logged anything for the sessions when it did not boot up, but only logged information for the sessions when I chose the last good configuration.
So I am at a loss as to the cause of the problem. I suspect it is some interaction between XP, Boot Camp and the iMac, but I just cannot pinpoint where the cause is and fix it. Somehow some of the values for the XP Control Sets are not quite right or settings are not saved properly when Windows XP is shut down.
Would appreciate any help or suggestions from anyone who has similar problems

  • Windows Stuck at Logo Screen

I am having problems booting up Windows XP with boot camp because it gets stuck at the Windows Logo screen. I used Windows on my Mac all day at work yesterday and had no problems what so ever. I haven't made any new hardware/software changes to the computer at all lately so it makes no sense why it wont boot up today. I am running the most recent version of Leopard on a MacBook Pro 2.16GHZ Intel Mac. I have also tried booting up in safe mode and last known good config and neither have worked. Safe mode gets stuck with a bunch of command lines on the screen and the last known good config gets stuck on the logo screen again. Also, I tried running disk utility on my boot camp partition (repair/verity) and I got a "Unable to Read Directory Input/Output Error. Anyone have a solution or have had the same problem?

Yesterday I started to have problems booting from Windows XP. It would get stuck at the Windows XP logo screen. I would power down and then start the machine again, it would give me several options to boot, and I would select the last configuation that worked, but it still got stuck at the Windows XP logo screen. Even putting the Windows XP boot disk in did not help, the disk just got stuck in the drive. I tried several times, then left the machine off for about 30 minutes, than tried again, and it booted OK.
I thought it might be the Chinese Data Entry software that I just installed that might have caused the problem, so I uninstalled the software, still the same problem persisted. Eventually after trying several times, and waiting for about 30 minutes, it was OK again.
I think I have to restore Windows from backup back to a point where it booted OK, but I have to first of all be able to boot into Mac OS, which means I have to be able to boot into Windows XP first in order to switch. So it is like a catch 22 situation. Shall I just keep trying till I can boot successfully from Windows XP.
What can I do in future if I am stuck with Windows XP not booting successfully?
    Thanks

  • Lenovo g510 stuck in logo screen

this laptop was purchase one year ago,
It stuck in the repair loop twice but it was fine after refreshing the pc.
few days ago, when i started the pc
, it just stuck in the logo screen and not even loading into windows.
what is the possible problem and any solution?
    thanks

If you can not get the system to boot, either using power button or OKR button (smaller, with upside down V) successfully, this may be a hard disk drive issue that has compromised the boot records.  The key here is that the system repair kicked in twice.
If you have a second computer with a USB hard disk drive dock (for normal and notebook drives) you may be able to remove the disk drive from your notebook and retrive your user data from it via the USB dock.
    Good luck.

  • Powermac g5 won't boot mac os 10.5 stuck at logo screen

Anyone experience this problem? How do I fix it?
PowerMac G5 wont startup. gets stuck on grey screen with apple logo with no turning gears, then fans start blowing really loud.
    Using latest Mac OS 10.5
It will not start up from an install disc, but will run the hardware tests.
All tests pass in G5 hardware test disc.
Hard drives have passed all tests, been rebuilt and repaired permissions.
I have tried starting up in safe mode, holding down the option key to select a drive and holding down the c key to startup with an install disc.
The battery was dead so I replaced it but it still wont boot.
I tried zapping the PRAm still not booting up.
I have attempted to use terminal but get the following message then there is no response.

  • Iphone 6 stuck on Logo screen with flash of screen for a split second then back to logo screen :(

I purchase my Iphone 6 Roughly a month ago. Last night it died so I plugged it in and this morning it is stuck on the Apple logo screen and flashes to a red screen for a split second then back to the Applelogo screen. I have not done any updates since purchase. I have tried the power and home buttons together and simotaneously with no result PLEASE HELP!!!

    Hi ptina78,
As someone who uses and depends on my iPhone on a daily basis, I know I would be upset if my phone did not start up properly. Let's see if we can get you back up and running. If your iPhone is not completing its startup sequence and you continute to see the Apple logo on the display, you may need to reinstall the iOS operating system on the iPhone. This article tells how -
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
    Specifically -
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Sincerely,
    Brett L

I have tried to reset the ipod with the sleep/home button combination but the screen just flickers and then it gets stuck on the logo again. • Ipod stuck on logo screen..

alrite...my ipod mini recently froze so i read the guides and it told me to reset (which i did) and the apple logo screen came up. now it seems to be stuck on the logo screen...no buttons are working...i can't set it to disk mode...and my computer doesnt even recognize it wen i connect it. can anyone offer me some advice how to fix this plz?

    Michael,
    Do the following
    1. Plug your iPod with your AC charger instead of PC for 2 hours
    2. Do a reset
    3. And a restore iPod updater
If you are unable to get your iPod recongized by your PC, then you have to put it in Disk Mode (u need to plug in with your AC Charger at the same time), and plug it back with your PC.

  • IPod touch stuck at logo screen

I tried to fix my Grand daughters Ipod earlier today. I installed the latest OS then after the ipod re-booted itself it only gets to the logo screen displaying the words IOS 6. Can anyone help me with this problem or advise on how to reset the ipod please.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod 3rd generation frozen...stuck on logo screen

My ipod suddenly stopped working and went to the apple logo screen. Now it's unresponive. It wont turn off. I tried resetting (holding the power and menu button) but it still isn't working. The ipod logo is green too, not white like normal. I tried plugging it into the computer with itunes running and it doesn't do anything. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

    - I would try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then trying to restore it via iTunes. Fore recovery mode see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    - Next I would try placing it in DFU mode:

If the suggestions is these articles don't resolve your problem, there may be a hardware failure that needs evaluation. Make an appointment with an Apple Store Genius Bar or whoever provides iPhone warranty service in your country.

  • P6NGM-FD stuck at logo screen

I've just built a system with a MSI P6NGM-FD mainboard and an Intel 3ghz E8400 Core 2 Duo CPU.
I just can't get it to boot.
The lights on my keyboard blinks for a second and I'm left at the logo screen, asking me to press Tab to POST or Del to enter BIOS.
Well, the problem is my keyboard doesn't work after that.
I've switched the damn PC on and off like a thousand times and it still gives me the same results.
I've checked and re-checked every connection.
Don't tell me to clear the CMOS cos I've tried that too.
At first I thought it might be my PS2 keyboard but after I changed it to a USB one it's still the same.
    I'm running out of patience.
I hope somebody can tell me where the problem lies, and how to resolve this.
And I really hope I didn't waste my hard-earned money on an expensive and heavy paperweight.
Here's the specs of my system.
    MSI P6NGM-FD mainboard
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz CPU
    Seagate 500GB SATA2 HDD
    Kingston DDR2 800 2GB x 2
PS2 and USB keyboards tried (both generic brands)
    Genius USB mouse
    Using onboard graphics
    Asus Z45P 450W PSU
     :(

I have run into this several times. Your power supply A-45GA does not meet specs for this motherboard.
The +12V1 and +12V2 require a min of 18A. So go with something that supplies at least 20A.
Model Name  Input Range  Output Voltage  Total Output
    Input Voltage
    Range  Input Frequency Range   +3.3V  +5V  +12V1  +12V2   -12V  +5Vsb
    A-45GA  100~240Vac  47~63Hz  Max. Load  30A  28A  14A  15A   0.5A  2A  450W
    Max. Output  145W  168W  180W  6W  10W
    440W
I ordered this one and the problem went away.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817170019
    550W +12V@25A
This issue seems to be common with the Core 2 Quad motherboards from MSI.
I ran into another system with this board in which the power supply was +12V@18A and the on-board USB would power down on boot-up causing Vista to blue screen. I went nuts finding it the first time.

  • Stuck on Logo screen plus loading symbol

Occasionally whenever restarting the computer get to the part of the boot where it shows the HP logo and the circle spinning to show that it is loading. The problem is that it just gets stuck there and keeps spinning forever. It happens randomly and we have had it fixed twice now, but the problem always returns. I have not noticed any sounds associated with the problem. But whenever it happens we have not found a fix. Thanks.

  • Qosmio X500 - Windows 7 stuck at Login Screen

    Machine: Qosmio x500-10U
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium OA
Start up and installation worked first round. I then made the following partitions:
    C:Windows (original system partition)
D: Data (here I put all my working files)
F: Executables (here are all the binary executables that I use)
I moved some files from C:\Programs to F:\Programs.
    Everything worked fine.
Then I got clever and decided to change F: to E: (for executables) to do this I had to move E:DVD (original system default) to a new letter. I chose O:DVD (for 'Optical') and moved F: to E:.
    Then I re-booted.
Now the system boots all the way to the login screen except that there are no user choices. Windows itself has obviously started because other functions such as the 'Shutdown' and 'Restart' buttons work. But no User icons or boxes appear to select a user and enter a password.
When I boot from an UBUNTO disk the DVD drive also works and I can still get hold of all my data on the various partitions. I just can't get windows itslef to log on.
I have a recovery file on the hard drive but no Optical disk because it kept saying that the creation of the recovery disk had failed.
I suspect that I need to fix some drive pointers in the windows registery file. Unfortunately the 'regedit' utility doesn't work under UBUNTO.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
That means on login screen you cant choose the different users, is this right?
If yes it would be interesting to know which users is logged in after booting Windows. Check this!!
To be honest this is a little bit complicated and I dont understand why you did this procedure. In my opinion this has muddled the Windows registry or some other important files and the only option would be reinstalling Windows I think.
    > I have a recovery file on the hard drive but no Optical disk because it kept saying that the creation of the recovery disk had failed.
What error message you get exactly? Maybe the recovery disk creator cant find the files anymore Why you didnt create the disk before?
Now you could try the HDD recovery option. This would be your last chance to get factory settings back and maybe it works
