Windows XP to Windows 7 - 2 user accounts, 2 iTunes accounts - best way to transfer?

I have an old desktop running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004. Each son has his own user account, thus each has his own iTunes account and associated media files. I am moving the boys to a new desktop running Windows 7. As before, each will have his own user account. What is the simplest and most succesfull way to move their files from the old computer to the new computer without losing something or otherwise messin gthings up. Both are running    iTunes 10.6.1.7.
Should I organize the libraries before moving them? How do I make sure that the file paths stay correct? I don't think Home Sharing will work with the different user accounts, will it? I have an external hard drive that I can use to transfer the files from one computer to another, if needed.

Interesting side note. I'm still playing a bit with Home Share. I have the old and new computers sitting side by side. BOTH of these computers can see MY iTunes on a third computer located else where in the house. MY computer can see User Account "A"/iTunes library "A". you would think that the new computer would be able to see BOTH librarys - mine and "A", but it can only see mine. Any idea why?
NVM...I closed and opened Home Sharing again and suddenly BOTH libraries were visible. And now MY library shows up TWICE in the OLD computer.
Let's see if they are visible when I log back in User Account A rather than as administrator.

Now I'm using a brand new computer (Windows) and I have opened a NEW iTunes account, but I now I need to figure out if it is possible to recoup my music content that I originally had. I had, I believe around close to 300 songs on my account ;(......Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content.

  • IPhone oddly associates itself with other user's iTunes accounts

    Hello everyone,
I have been having a strange problem. Most times that I use someone else's wireless network for Internet access and that person also has an iTunes account, my iPhone will automatically associate with that user's iTunes account. Usually, if I restart the phone, it reassociates with my iTunes account, but this time it is stuck on my friend's account. I never manually entered his account information.
As a result, I cannot download any new apps or update existing apps, as the iPhone asks for my friend's password when I try to download from the App Store.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
You'll need to sync the iPhone with a computer that is signed into the iTunes Store with your AppleID.

  • What is the best way to transfer my music library from my windows pc to my new macbook air?

what is the best way to transfer my large iTunes library from my windows pc to my new macbook air?  Not all purchased, many from CDs I owned

Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

Best way to transfer all contacts from Palm Treo including the picture birth-dates and emails of the contacts to my new iPhone4S?

The iPhone supports syncing contacts with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book app used by Outlook Express with XP and by Windows Mail with Vista and Windows 7 for syncing contacts only.
You need to get your Palm Treo contacts exported for import by a supported address book application or synced with a supported address book application. There should be an option for this with the Palm Desktop software or via 3rd party software.

Form fields in LiveCycle. I want to allow users to add URLs to a form so that they can be clicked and opened on the web by form reviewers (users). what is the best way to achieve this?

Once the user has entered the URL they want to add to the form. You can use the loadXML function to implement some special text in a label...
    var linkValue = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?><exData contentType=\"text/html\" xmlns=\"http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-template/2.8/\"><body xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml\" xmlns:xfa=\"http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/\" xfa:APIVersion=\"Acroform:2.7.0.0\" xfa:spec=\"2.1\"><p style=\"font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;letter-spacing:0in\">The new link the user have entered is:<a href=\"" + textfield.rawValue + "\">textfield.rawValue</a></p></body></exData>";
      this.resolveNode("lblURL").value.exData.loadXML(linkValue, 1, 1);

Hi, can anyone tell me the best way to transfer my everything including itunes a/c to a brand new mac, thanks

Hello i recently transfered to a new mac and i have it perfectly figured out so first off dont use migration assestant if you don't want to get your old computer exactly on your new computer.  In my opinion starting on a fresh computer is best, BUT you still want your files so i have a video you can watch if my instructions don't make sense.
    1. Go to finder and find your music folder
    2. click the folder labled itunes
    3. click itunes music or find the folder with all the folders in it that have names of artist or albums
    4. then select all those folders with the artis or album names with commant A this will select all those folders
    5. then drag these to and external hard drive or connect to your old mac from your new mac wirelessly to find these folder
    6. if you did wireless sharing option just drag all those folders to the itunes icon if you used an external harddrive find the folders on there and do the same.

  • Reissued mac has a previous user's itunes account.

My company issued me a mini mac that was previously used by an employee that no longer works here.  The itunes account that is tied to the mac mini is setup under her apple account, so I can't get any software updates.  Before I realized this, all my photos were copied from my original mac in a conversion script.  New photos are here too.  Aside from not getting updates, it seems I can't tap into Itunes from other sources ( Shutterfly for example) to load up pics.
Is there anything I can do to bypass her email account?

Thanks for your information around piracy, etc., but I realize I wasn't clear in my question...
    ...let me clarify...
I have my OWN iTunes account...don't need to steal anyone else 'free' games that are loaded on this work machine (especially as I don't play games when I'm working - I'm self-employed and playing games when I could be making money doesn't make any sense).
The company hasn't in ANY way condoned 'stealing of another person's paid applications' as it's 6 'free' games that are requiring 'updates'.
What I'm trying to accomplish, is to have her ID removed from this laptop, thus allowing me to set up my own stuff (purchased and free).
If anyone cares to answer whether or not this can be accomplished, that'd be great. If it can't I'll simply send this proprietary 13"aptop back to Head Office, and continue using my 17" PC laptop which has served me well until this point. Being self-employed contract, I can use whatever I want, but everyone talks about how great and easy Mac's are to use...so I told them I'd try it...
Again, if there's actually any way to remove the old User (and her 6 free games) from the App Store window on here, please feel free to share how.

  • Can you have two different users with itune accounts on the same computer?

Yes, create another user profile on the computer and each user can log into their own profile that way.

  • Syncing multiple devices, user accounts, iTunes accounts one computer

    I have a question that I can't find a clear answer.
I previous had one iPod touch and one iPad that I synched with my iTunes library. No problem. But now the wife has finally purchased a verizon iPhone and I want to be able to use my vast app collection for her phone.
Scenario is we each have separate user accounts (so we can maintain our own calendars and contacts, ect.). We each have our own ITunes accounts and our own iTunes libraries by default. She will not be purchasing much on her account though.
How do I, without creating a can of worms, create one library to sync to so I can put apps and music on her phone without erasing any of her separate information. I have read a lot on the subject and there does not seem to be a clear answer anywhere. Yes, I have read ht1495 but that does not seem to be exactly on point
Basically, I have 3 devices, 2 user accounts and 2 iTunes accounts but one computer only. I want to be able to have all iTunes stuff available on both user accounts and be able to have both people be able to read and write to the same library. I am sure there are plenty of people running into this issue with more and more people getting iPhones with verizon. It seems that it is easier to do with multiple computers than one computer.
So, I am looking for help or advice on the easiest way to accomplish this task.
    IMac   Mac OS X (10.6.6)

The easiest way to accomplish want you want is to transfer what content you want to the separate iTunes library under each user account. To transfer content from your library to your wife's library so that she can use it on her phone, do this:
    1. Launch iTunes under your wife's login.
    2. Sign her out of iTunes & then you sign in.
    3. iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Disable auto-sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected.
    4. Connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC!
    5. Store>Authorize this Computer(only have to do this once).
    6. File Transfer Purchases(all of the purchased content on your phone will be transferred to your wife's library).
    7. When complete, eject your phone, sign out of iTunes, sign your wife back in.
You can now sync whatever content you want to your wife's phone. Just remember, all updates to apps obtained using your account must be done while signed in using your account: sign wife out, you sign in, update apps, you sign out, sign wife in, sync her phone.
This way you can share content(permitted under the EUSLA) and still maintain your separate logins. Do the same under your login if you want to share content from your wife's library.
Just load whatever content you want to share on each others phones, transfer the content, then delete it from the respective phone if you don't want to keep it there.
