Hi,
I have a windows service written in .Net which access a COM component(This conponent is also written by me).
The COM component launches Acrobat and uses it for generating Thumbnail files.
I get following error is logged into event viewer when CreateDispatch("AcroExch.App", &e)) line is exicuted.
Error Message: The server {85DE1C45-2C66-101B-B02E-04021C009402} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
This problem occurs only when the windows service run under a specified user account say "TestUser". i.e if service runs under "Local System" account then everything works fine.
Also this problem only occurs on WinXP machine. i.e same thing on Windows2003 server works fine.
I have given all required permissions for "TestUser" on AcroExch.AVDoc and AcroExch.PDBookmark using dcomcnfg.
Any help will be appriciated.
Thanks and Regards,

I have about 10 Win2008 SP2 Citrix Servers that show the above event logged in the System log prior to the servers becoming unusable and a hard boot is required.. The error relates to the Thumbnail Cache Out of Proc Server COM
but I can't find out why it is happening and how I can resolve it. I have approx 10 users on each Citrix Server and their screen just locks up and can't do anything.. even logoff..!
I would appreciate some help in resolving this one ASAP

Thanks & Regards ManojHi Partner,
Thank you for your post.
From your description, I see that the current issue is you notice Event ID 4358 error (source: Microsoft-Windows-MSDTC) logged in Application log.
Please let me know if I misunderstand anything or you have any additional information.
Firstly, could you help clarify that what operation you are performing while the issue occur? It would be nice if you can provide a GUI error message if any.
Currently, based on the error message and my research, some incorrect register key about RPC dynamic port resulting in MSDTC behaves unexpectedly might cause such symptom.
If that is the case, let's take the following steps to check our issue.
[Note: As the operation is related to the registry key components, I suggest we backup the entries firstly before performing the steps]
1. Delete all the register keys about RPC dynamic port you inserted manually.
2. Configure the ports via UI.
3. Reboot the server.
Please let me know if there is any update. Thank you for your time.

Sophia Sun

?I can't download adobe digital editions. I have Windows 7 and am registered with Adobe. My browser is Internet explorer 8
Win 7 has given many people some 'issues'. There are postings to the forum
that point out you have to set your security so that it will allow
downloads from certain sites, and I seem to recall that these settings need
to recognize Adobe as a source and allow it through the firewall. Wish I
had the exact post, but I do not. But I'd bet a search on Windows 7 will
pull up some more information.

I have brought ipad 2 from USA to INDIA(32 GB WIFI). I am unable to register with app store using my credit card using india details. Pls help.
You cannot. To open an account on a different iTunes country you must have a valid credit card issued from a bank in that country. You must have a billing address in that country, as well.
There are reasons why some apps are not available in all iTunes stores. -

When first registering with iCloud at the Apple store I had to provide a non-Apple email. How do I now change that email on iCloud?
Your iCloud login is an Apple ID, and if you go to http://appleid.apple.com you can change the ID to another non-Apple email address that has never been associated with an Apple ID. You cannot change it to your @icloud.com address.

Error: Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.
Hello,
In last few months, I began getting the error:
The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.
My system hangs and slows to a crawl. Error seems to be well-known, and solution is to install the latest version of Intel Matrix Manager, which is 8.6. I've done this, I reinstalled my OS, and I've reinitialized my hard Raid1 array. None of this has helped.
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/sb/cs-025783.htm
Any suggestions?
Thx.

Have you tested HDD's with Seagate diagnostic utility?
Going by the link you have provided I assume you are using Vista?
Yes, I am using Vista and I did also use Sea Tools; no issue identified. I'd love to hear more suggestions. Things I've done:
1. Reformat / reinstall. Helped, but problem not eliminated.
2. Ran SeaTools Disk Diagnostic. No issue.
3. Installed Intel Matrix STorage, most recent version 8.6. Should've fix prob, but didn't.
4. Upgraded Bios from 7.5 to 7.9.
Seems like the upgrade to Intel Matrix Storage Manager should've fixed this issue, but it didn't. Any particular drive identified in the error message in the original post?
It is also not clear what changed to have introduced this error. My system has been stable for 2 years and from the errors looks like I've had problems for the last 3 months, but they got notably worse in the last 2 weeks. Reformatting / reinstall helped, but didn't eliminate these issues. Any insight would be appreciated. -
JWS buggy when trying to communicate with servlets within the intranet
Hi out there,
I've a quite odd problem. I've written a distributed Java application, communication is stablished via Java serialized objects using http get and post.
This works fine almost from any place. There are 3 possiblities to start my application:
1. start the client bean directly from hard disc. Communication to server is perfect, everything works fine.
2. I call a special html-page from the server which starts my application in a browser as an applet. This is tricky on some platforms, but at least on windows boxes this works fine, too. So the applet is hosted on the same machine as my Java objects are sent to by http. Those objects are received by a servlet installed on the server. We use IBM Websphere, and perhaps that's the bad guy...
3. I start the application using Java Web Start. Again the .jnlp-File is hosted on the same server machine. And this is where the applicaiton hangs: If I'm outside our company's network, again everything works fine, through firewalls etc. But if I launch the application from within our intranet, the application only works "a little bit". It shows odd behaviour. The aplication may run fine if I send about two objects to the server. But it hangs if I try more objects. I can't reproduce the exact amount of objects transferable as that number differs from try to try!
Has anybody any idea what could be wrong there? The server application's logfiles don't show any errors. The error message is that the client (only if started by JWS, and only from the intranet, and only from time to time) can't locate the servlet.
What is the difference if I call the servlet starting the bean locally from my hard disc or if I start it as downloaded bean via Java Web Start?
Some words to our architecture: We use Windows NT 4.0 SP 5. The server is behind one firewall to the outer world and one firewall to the intranet (demilitarized zone). The problems only occur if trying from intranet to DMZ, but only in combination with JWS. As an application or applet the connection works fine!
Perhaps some network specialist has any idea about that? I know it's a little bit complicated, but perhaps somebody sees somthing I missed yet.
Thanks a lot,
StefanOk sorry. Forget about it. This is some very odd behaviour. Normally the application shouldn't run at all.
I had the wrong proxy settings in the Java Web Start engine.
I'm sorry I already posted that message.
Presentation of my software is in about an hour, so please my panic... -
With all other browsers, when I compose an email, once I start to put the recipient's name in the To box, it will autofill the name if it is in my Contacts. This has been the case with firefox until the last 24 hours. Now, firefox does not automatically recognize any of my contacts. This problem is not happening on IE, Chrome, or Opera. I access my email through my AT&T/Yahoo account on the web, not through a mail program.
please try to uninstall the adobe flash plugin from the windows control panel. afterwards manually delete any leftover files in ''C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash'' and download & install the plugin again (uncheck the option to install the bundled security software): www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

Hi all, I take wildlife photos (mostly birds) as a hobby, and have become frustrated with the quality of my photos recently when shared online, particularly Facebook.
I started blaming my camera ( a Canon 7D) as I changed it a few months ago from a Canon 550D, and I soon noticed that the images were not as good. Then I realised it was when I started using Aperture.
I started by using the 'share' option within Aperture but I soon realised that then I have no control over the creation of an album, and the photos start appearing on facebook before I have finished uploading them and given them captions. Plus if I subsequently move them or export them to my back up drive then they disappear from Facebook!
So I started creating albums within Facebook and then importing the photos from the aperture projects file on my computer. Because they are imported I can then delete or move the aperture file and the photos stay on facebook. Otherwise my macbook was becoming completely full.
However to test my theory I have today uploaded the same photo edited in Aperture stored in the same projects folder using the two different methods described above, and there is a very distinct difference between the quality of the two images. The shared ones are very much sharper than the imported ones.
I am a computer novice and don't know how to check what the quality settings are, or how to adjust anything to improve the way the photos go into facebook. I do have a manual but I just cant understand it :-(
I have tried a free sample of Lightroom 5 and my photos look amazing, there is such a difference, but I don't want to give up with Aperture unless the problem really can't be solved.
Sorry for such a long first post, I would be very very grateful for any help you can give me!
Regards
SusanGenerally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go.
