Windows XP will not start up on HP Pavilion a350n.

Hp Pavilion a350n desktop
Windows XP
No Error Message
I have installed new ram and a new video card, but all was fine for many months/ possibly even a year after install.
Hi, any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. My computer, as listed above has been sitting dormant for a while. The computer begins to start up windows xp, it makes it to the screen with the xp logo (the one with the loading bar) then the computer giving a slight beep followed by a whirring noise restarts with a black screen. It will continue this whirring noise until the power button is manually pushed.
Thank you again for any help! -Nik

Evening all
Have you disabled any Norton, KAS, antivirus anti spyware programs?
Did you set a restore point prior to installing the Sp3?
Which method did you install the Sp3 from? full adminstrator account or apply the subinacl program and reset.cmd ?
There may be other problems prior to install of Sp3, Are the bios,of the systems you are using, the latest version?
What type of system are you using?
Are you using the latest W.H.Q.L. Microsoft signed drivers video available for your system? 174.74 from Nvidia, 8.4 catylst for ATI/AMD?
If you are using X2 processor both the processor driver and the dual core optimizer. You cannot depend on the Sp2 driver for proper operation.
  What about chipset drivers?
And the mouse, and other perpherials?
If you have any unsigned drivers you will have endless reboots.
If you check the system to see if safe mode is available you can trouble shoot what is happening
*Press f8 prior to the Windows splash screen*
Log in as adminstrator *Full one*
If you are using an AMD machine, check the regedit for the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Intelppm\Start
If this key exists change it to 04 Hexdecimal and reboot.

  • After Upgrade, Windows Service will not start automaticly

I just upgraded from 10.2 to 10.4. When I did the Windows File Service, will not start automaticly. I can start it manually, after a reboot. Any idea on how to fix this?

I am having the same problem on a clean install of Server 10.4.10, AFP & Web starts automatically on restart, but not Windows Service. This is the first time I have run into this, it starts fine on all other servers I administer. Then entry in /etc/hostconfig for SMBSERVER is set to "-YES-", there is no errors or messages of any kind in the console or system log, it just won't start.
This complicated with the problem I am having on the same server where I cannot connect via ARD after reboot without someone there physically plugging a monitor into the video port first (another open post I have - http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5850246#5850246 ). So, doing maintenance at off-hours is almost unworkable.

  • Windows 7 will not start

Hello, I had an issue during installation of a program and now my windows files are corrupted.  I tried all the basic recovery options, but none worked.  Lenovo's site is a bit difficult to navigate (spent hours looking), so I bring my question to the community.  Does anyone know how I could get in touch with Lenovo in order to get a windows 7 recovery or even an installation disc from them so I can perform a clean install or something?  Thanks!
I do not have a warranty, if that matters.

    Hi Frogman3,
What model do you have?  Is this an all-in-one desktop?  Depending on what model you have, there should be a little button close to the start button.  If you push that at startup, it should put you into the recovery and you might be able to recovery your machine to its factory settings.
F11 at startup should put you into recovery also.  If you can't get it to work, you would have to get a set of restore discs from Technical support.  Let me know what happens and if you need the number to call.

  • A60 Windows XP will not start

When XP fails to start it just cycles continually trying to restart.
None of the options for restoring last known good configuration or starting in various safe modes work.
    The error message is :-
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
The Microsoft Knowledge base indicates that to access the Recovery Console the XP CD-ROM is required before running chkdsk/r, but because XP was OEM factory installed by Toshiba, this is not available.
Can anyone guide me towards a solution.
    Dave Cox

    Hi Dave,
If you do not have a bootable CD already, then you will need to get create one (using another PC of course). Try to Google for 'Ultimate Boot CD'. This contains many tools and utilities and can even be purchased if you do not have the means of burning your own version.
Obviously you will need some means of backing up your data once you have access to your HDD although you may find that you drive is inaccessible anyway. This will depend on exactly what is wrong with it.
To boot from CD (without changing your BIOS) Toshiba have a short-cut. Simply hold down the 'C' key while powering on your notebook and the unit will try to boot from the CD-ROM. This also works with the recovery CD(s).
    Best of luck

  • Windows Defender will not start after injecting Language Pack

    Hi
I have started creating a new Windows 8.1 image for deployment to a new series of computers. When I am in audit mode installing programs, Windows Defender works fine. After sysprep and offline injection of Language Pack (da-dk) Windows Defender user
interface is not able to start.
    Error message:
An error has occurred in the program during initialization. If this problem continues, please contact your system administrator. Error code: 0x80073b01.
Both Windows defender services is running and I can even run commands with MpCmdRun.exe from a command prompt. The issue seems to be with the language of the UI.
Is there something I need to do with Windows Defender when I install language packs?

    Hi,
There might be some related files missing or corrupted.
Please take a try with the SFC command:
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
Or try the dism command to restore health:
    Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

  • Need help, E535 Windows 7 will not start

Ok, this has happened twice now, first time was Jan. of 14 about a week after I bought this thing for my daughter to use in college. Just happened again ( after warranty expired ) and now I have to try and get this thing running.
    Machine is a E535, purchased Dec. 2013, Product # 3260FKU, Serial # MP42840 running Bios HHET75WW ( 2.08 ) Bios release date is 10/24/2012
Machine just goes to black screen says loading windows files, then pops to the thinkvantage technologies screen and startup repair, it does its repair thing, and says click finish and repeats the process.
I did click on the diagnostic and repair details and past all the junk at teh end, it says root cause found  system volume on disk is corrupt.
Repair action: File system repair ( chkdsk )
Resut: Complete successfully, error code 0x0
    time taken = 16 ms
From what I have been able to determine, I need to rebuild the boot directory?
Please be kind to me, I am a dummy when it comes to this stuff.
How do I fix this, and more importantly, how do I prevent this from happening again?
    Thanks in advance!

I believe so, when I put the recovery media in, it asked if I accepted the Lenovo terms and then said all data would be lost, it started recovery as soon as I clicked yes. It  did ask what type of a boot partiotion?  I clicked the recommended one, QRt or something like that?
Anyway, the discs from Lenovo are for Win7 64 bit, which is what I was told the machine was, and the part numbers for the discs are as follows.
    Labelled 1 ( 3 discs )
    1 of 3 DVD P/N SR30A20610
    2 of 3 DVD P/N SR30A20611
    3 of 3 DVD P/N SR30A17703
    Labelled 2 ( 2 Discs )
    1 of 2 DVD P/N 0B78414
    2 of 2 DVD P/N 0B78415
I am running it again, just to see if something acts different..
I did note they said something about making sure the BIOS was set to always or both after recovery, was there something I was suposed to set before I started?
Do you see anythign I did wrong?
Thansk for any help you can give, I need to get this thing up and running for her college work.

Just installed Firefox 3.6. Firefox will not start and Firefox safemode does not start either. Using Task manager I do not see if started either. If I create a new profile and start from that window, Firefox starts up. I see no error windows/messages. I do have it listed in my Firewall as an exception program with Permit All. What is happening?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

*iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.*
*In the Error Window The following is there...*

Can Anyone help me as I can’t use my ITUNEs and am Handicapped when it comes transferring ITEM on and OFF my IPHONE...
    Thanks

That error suggests you may have a QUicktime problem rather than an iTunes problem.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx)
If so uninstall them. They are bad news for Quicktime.
Then download the version of Quickime without iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Now Remove Quicktime using the method for Quicktime in this article (just Quicktime):
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart you computer
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts.
If it does you are in a position to find out if iTunes is OK.

I've also got a similar problem. I upgraded yesterday & today I find (mainly with previously purchased tracks) that iTunes only playes about 51sec of a track. The whole track plays when using "Quicktime" but this doesn't help me when I'm trying to put together a playlist.
    Can anyone out the help?
