Windows Xp with Mac?

I wanted to know if this beta will ever get a real version? I am in the market of getting a new mac with these capabilities. I love mac but the accounting softwares that i use only work on windows.
I wanted to know what is the best option in my situation. Should i buy the newest mac and then install the beta version to use my accounting software? Thanks!

Assuming you're talking about Boot Camp, a final version supposedly will be included in Mac OS 10.5, but nothing has been confirmed by Apple.
Further questions regarding Boot Camp should be posted in the Boot Camp discussions:

  • How to format Windows drive with Mac OS format

    Hello
I have a Windows 160gb internal drive that is formated in Fat32. I am unable to format this drive with Mac OS X 10.3.9 in order to install Tiger 10.4. When I attempt to format using the Mac OS extended (journaled), I receive an error (sorry I didn't write it down) partition error. If I use the Mac OS extended option I recieve an error that the drive can not be unmounted.
How can I format this 160gb drive with Mac OS format so that I may install Mac OS X 10.4
    Thank you

    Do the following:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.

  • Partitioning and Installing Windows 7 with Mac OS X Lion

    Hi
after failing seriously with the partitioning after installing Win 7, I hope that I will find some help from the scratch...
I want to install OS X Lion with Win 7.
3 Partitions with Mac are needed and 1 fro Windows.
I got 750Gb on my Mac Book Pro.
    Disk should look like this:
    100Gb Main Partition (Mac)
    200Gb Documents Partition (Mac)
    300Gb Stuff and Games (Mac)
    150Gb Windows 7 Partition
I tried now to create a 100Gb Partition for Mac and a 150Gb Partition for Windows 7.
After Installing the Mac OS, I was trying to add the 2 other Partitions, but it already telling me that i'm gonna loose my Windows Boot when I change the Partitions. I pressed ok and restarted with the windows 7 DVD for the recovery, which wasn't working due to version incompability -.- (I installed Windows from that DVD)
What steps should I make to get this to work? Some guys says that it not gonna work, but a friend of min has 3 mac partitions and a windows. Sadly he can't remember the way to this setup
    Thank you for the help

  • Sharing printers and files in a windows network with Mac OS 9.1

We've just installed an old iMac with Mac OS 9.1 in the office. The network is made up of 2 windows PCs and this new iMac, connected through a D-link wireless router. We have a USB printer connected to one of the PC's and it's shared by the rest.
Anyway, I have very little experience with Mac OS and I want the iMac to use the printer as well as share files with the other PCs. Could anyone help me with a "foolproof" guide on how to do this? Thanks

    Followup:
indeed, 10.6 uses ntfs streams when availible to store metadata.
    for a workaround:
    http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/m an5/nsmb.conf.5.html
    create
    /etc/nsmb.conf
    contents:
    \[default\]
    streams=no
    close all server connections, reconnect.

  • Sharing windows printer with mac notebook

i've been trying to get my windows printer to print something from my MAC notebook. so far i'm as far as the print icon appearing on my MAC pc showing a print job in progress but also showing that the windows host (my ISP) is busy and that the mac will try again in 30 seconds. i run a links wireless system and i don't know what would make the windows unit give off a busy signal to my MAC

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    See my printer FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/printersx.html
which may have some solutions for you.
Also note, printing labels for CDs is unwise. It has nothing to do with Mac or PC. Labels shorten the length of CDs. http://www.macintouch.com/cdrfailure.html covers that and much more. Basically for CDs, you should buy CDs that are prepackaged in a jewelcase, and not a spindle, and make your own jewelcase inserts or write on the jewelcase exterior the contents of the CD if you want to prolong the media life.

  • How many computers can I connect my iPod Touch to? Can I mix Windows computer with Mac?

We are thinking about getting my dad an iPod touch for Christmas and preloading it with songs from our Mac. He has a Dell PC with Windows. Is it going to be a problem for him if he wants to add songs from his PC to the iPod Touch? Will he have to format the device and thus lose all of the songs we preload for him?

iPod tuchsdoare not formated for a a Mac or PC.
You do not have the right/lience to give away music you purchased.
An iPod can only sync with ene computer. To change syncing computer you have to erase the iPod and then sync to the new computer.

I installed win 7 home premium 32 bit on it without a problem using boot camp from Lion. However windows does not totally fill the screen. There are black bars on all side of the display. About an inch thick.
I have the mini connected via HDMI to my sharp Aquos tv @ 1080p.
What can I do to fox this? My previous mini did not do this with nearly the same setup. There is now where to downlaod drivers for the AMD 6630M HD card in this mini.

    Hi PaulJO
I have the same problem when I tried downloading and installing the catalyst suite software from AMD web site, it told me that my graphic card was not compatible. Which I know is!!
Any help on getting the driver?!?!

  • Syncing Windows users with Mac users home folders

    Hello,
I have setup my 10.6 XServe to allow Windows user to connect.
The Windows machines log into the server just fine but when they save something to their Documents, Desktop etc... it doesn't show up when they log into a Mac machine and vice versa.
I did find a script on WazMac for a logon vbs but that does not work.
    Any help?

    Thank you Linc Davis,
I did some investigation on the internet to see the default ACLs on the "users" folder and I noticed that I added a group access. I deleted it and ended up with the correct configuration. I have now each user accessing his own home folder with read and write access to all the folders (desktop, music, video...) and sees the others users' home folder with access denied.
I think I can live with that configuration. Problem solved.

  • Adobe flash does not work on bootcamp windows 2002 xp. down loaded to windows. works with Mac. No program folder for such. shows up in "add delete programs" (in setting) but without a file size. I have a MacBook Pro purchased new in June 2010.

Using bootcamp (windows 2002 xp) I down loaded adobe flash player from the windows platform. told me it installed successfully. however does not work in windows, does works in mac. in xp there is no created program folder for such or created short cut. In the control panel (xp) in add/delete programs it is listed but wihout any file size or frequency used. I've deleted & reinstalled numerous times. Mac OS is 10.6.8. Windows is 32 bit. Can't find a thing that discusses this. THANKS!

  • With Mac OS 10.6.7 can I run windows XP?

I want to use Boot Camp to slipt my hard Drive so that I can run windows, but the only widows disks I own are XP and Vista but I have heard that with the OS 10.6.7 I can't run windows XP, which is what I really want.
So is it possible to use Boot Camp to run Windows XP with Mac OS 10.6.7?
btw I dont know if it matters but I have a Mac book Pro 13in with Core i7, 4GB memory, and 500GB hard Drive.

MacBook Pro 2011 now only supports and supplies drivers etc for Windows 7, not XP.
Probably due to all the changes needed to support Sandy Bridge processors, SATA3 and ThunderBolt.
if you have 2010 then yes.
And don't rule out using a VM - not good for games but can be for non-intensive apps.
And you probably want Windows 7 64-bit to use 4GB or more (and your MBP takes 8GB RAM, 16GB for 2011).
PS: This is regarding MacBook Pro, totally different from "Mac Pro"

  • Unable to use proxy server with MAC OS X Anyconnect client

    Hi All,
I have a VPN setup thru a Cisco 5520, Windows clients connect just find and the end users configure there browser to use our internal proxy servers.   Users with the MAC OS X Anyconnect client can connect, they configure their Mac to use our proxy server, but the broswers will not work, clients can reach networks and resources behind the VPN gateway and have access to the Proxy(Tried a telnet to that hostname/port).  Anyone run into this issue before?  I am running ASA 8.3(2), Anyconnect(OS X) 3.1.01065.
    Thank You

    We had the same problem.
We are behind government firewall so I don't know which Cisco firewall is used but we are using AnyConnect to establish VPN from internet to LAN behind firewall. We have no problems with Windows. With Mac OS X connection through proxy didn't work with Safari and Chrome (both are using system Proxy setting), but it did work with Firefox (which has it's own Proxy).
Finally we found out that ethernet MTU size was the culprit. When we set it to manual, with size being 1347 (or less), proxy started to work.
