WINDVD not working on Sateillite A200-19L

Hi, I have Sateillite A200-19L with Vista on it.
I have installed the latest drivers from your site but WINDVD is not working any more.
When starting just stay there. The worst part is that I can't kill the process nor shut down the computer( with shut down or restart).
How can I reinstall WINDVD?
Can you help me with this?

Ive read your posting but I wonder what you mean with "How can I reinstall WINDVD?". Just uninstall it, grab the disk where Windvd is on and install it back. Its another story if windvd was bundled with the machine.
The only chance would be to restore the whole system which means you must grab the recovery CD and reinstall the whole system so you will have your Windvd back again. (and it will work again)
If you dont want to reinstall it, I would suggest you to download the videolan client from www.vlc.org which is a VERY GOOD player which plays almost every format of video/audio and DVDs, too.
Please give your opinion on my thought, would be very interesting for me. :)

I am owner of a Satellite A200-fl, I have deleted Vista and successfully instaled XP SP2. However the computer is working, I have several problems after instaling Toshiba drivers (Spanish) found in download section.

I have to say that I have followed Toshiba installation instructions, and used Toshiba official drivers only, but there is no way I can solve it, I feel really upset and fed up with this situation.

[HELP] Microphone Not working on Laptop A200-AH7

My microphone on my laptop is not working anymore! I searched forums but none of them helped. One place told me to check my built-in cameras options but I couldn't find the program (maybe it got deleted?)
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! The laptops model is Satellite A200- AH7 well thats what it tells me, also the Supplier Number and the Product Number. Pleaseee Helppppp

DVD drive is not working on Satellite A200-1S5

After installing vista the dvd unit is not reading any disk until reboot. To be more specific, from the first moment I purchased the notebook I try to install ms works from disk but the unit was not reading.
I observed that if the disk was in the unit before the operating system started the unit was reading the disk. If I open the dvd unit and I close the unit (with the same disk inside) I have the message to insert a disk into drive and the message remained until I restart the operating system.
I have tried to recover the operating system with the DVD it came to but after install I had the same problem. I have tried with another operating system , windows XP , with all drivers installed (BIOS inclusive) and the problem still remains. The notebook works very fine except the dvd drive.
Can anyone help me please?

one suggestion which could avoid to send the machine to a repair center would be to check the Toshiba Drivers Download site for a "firmware" upgrade for your drive. If no one is available or the firmware does not help to resolve the problem then you should definitively send the machine to an authorised service partner since it could really be a hardware failure.

Certain keys not working on Equium A200-196 after Windows 7 update

Hi all, I've just upgrade my partner's laptop (a Toshiba Equium A200-196) to Windows 7 after initially installing Windows XP on it (it came with Vista).
After the XP update, I noticed certain keys weren't working. I can't remember the process I used to fix the issue, but fix it I did, and they were all soon working perfectly. So it was a software issue, rather than hardware. I think it may have had something to do with the FN key - but I can't be sure.
Now I've just upgraded the same machine and I have exactly the same problem. The keys that don't work are Backspace, W, P, F, H, K and L.
Can anyone help please? I've tried reinstalling Win7 and the problem is still there.

These keys have nothing to do with the missing software.
Indeed, the function key (FN key) needs an installation of particular Toshiba utility / software to get it working but the Backspace, W, P, F, H, K and L keys are common keyboard keys which dont needs any special software.
Therefore I think the issue is hardware related: simple keyboard malfunction.
I guess all these keys would work properly if you connect and use external USB keyboard.

Satellite A200-19L - TV-OUT not working

I have Satellite A200-19L (PSAEC) with nVidia *GeForce Go 7300.
The laptop came with Windows Vista Home. I downgraded the system to Windows XP
Professional with SP2.
Everything its ok except the fact that now I cannot connect the computer with my TV (I used to connect with _RGB-RGB_ cable, my TV has RGB slot, TV is a Samsung LCD). With Vista it was very easy to connect but now I cannot. And now I have this problem. I cannot to do this connection.
I installed the forceware 156.55 and my driver version is 6.14.11.5655.
If anyone knows how I can do this connection please reply.

Im not 100% sure if my advice will help you to solve this issue but generally you should update the BIOS to the XP version if you want to use the XP on this Vista unit.
Furthermore you should install all Toshiba drivers in the right order
Then you should be able to use the FN+F5 button combination which helps to switch to the external display device like second monitor or TV.

Satellite A200-19l driver XP for Nvidia GeForce 7300 not working at all

After downgrading from Vista to XP, my A200-19l doesnt find the Hardware to the GeForce 7300... no driver working, wether Display- or new Forceware drivers from Nvidia homepage. The Hardware Manager still shows a ? for the "Video
controller".... the Geforce 7300 isnt shown at all as Hardware...
what can I do... thanx for any help!

Its very simple. You need an compatible graphic driver!!!
Did you already check the drivers from these pages?:

Anyway, the graphic driver from the nVidia page should works also!!!
You have to install the driver in the device manger. Dont install it automatically but force the driver installation.
You have to choose Install from a list or specific location (advanced) and then Dont search. I will choose the driver to install.

Dial UP Modem is not working properly in Satellite A200-1GB

My A200 - 1 GB's modem is not working properly. It tries to connect but at last it says remote computer is not responding. As i noticed It has a "Agree" 56kpbs modem.
It shown as Toshiba Software Modem.
I tried so many times it doesn't work properly. I tried by changing the assigned COM ports to several other COM ports like COM1,COM10,COM 4 ext... same thing occurs.
When I diagnose the modem via the modem properties no matters found.
Same as when I'm dialing through the modem to a telephone (i mean as a call) it's working properly. I mean it can call to a mobile phone or land phone.
But the same phone line is working properly with my desktop modem as same as another HP laptop modem.
It seems there is some malfunction on my 56k modem.
I tried even uninstalling and reinstalling but still the matter exists.
Can anybody help me in this case?

Satellite Pro A200 Windows XP, 4Gb SDHC Card does not work.

I have had a Satellite Pro A200 installed with Windows XP, SP2 for some time - No problems there, a great piece of kit. However I recently have bought a new camera and splashed out on a Kingston 4Gb SDHC card. The manual for my A200 seemes to indicate that it my laptop is compatible with SDHC cards to 4Gb however when I push the card in the LED flashes blue briefly and then nothing happens. My SDHC card does not appear to be recognised by the system.
I see no errors in my OS event log and I have checked the slots operation by trying an older 512Mb SD card and that works fine.
Can anybody offer any help please?
For reference this laptop is a Model PSAE4E A200.

1) i am asking for your help about installing my Fn keys drivers for my Satellite A200 14 D PSAECE laptop.
My OS is Windows XP and i have Bitdefender Internet Security 2009 .
From the download page of Toshiba drivers i got all drivers for my laptop (36 of all - or close), but from the many Xp reinstalations i have done on my laptop, only one time all Fn keys worked when pressing Fn+key and the corresponding icons appeared on my display. I have read some forum topics and i understand there is a problem about the order in which i have to install them ( i already installed them all but it is not working ), so i need someone to tell me which are the drivers for Fn keys only and in which order to install. Please do not forget that i can deactivate my Bitdefender but not uninstall .
2) the same problem with the preset buttons above the keys - On-Off, Internet, Media Player, Play-Stop-Rewind, i need the exact driver and the order.

Satellite A200-23P - DVD-rom mechanic not working

I have very big problem with my DVD writer (rom).
I bought SAT A200-23P three weeks ago.
The OS Win VISTA was installed. DVD-rom worked good.
If I installed Win XP to second partition on my HDD (before I make install disc with driver for sata disc in nlite) and installed all drivers and utilities for Toshiba notebook, I found that my DVD-rom does not respond while I press eject button.
DVD mechanic does not respond for eject in the XP and not even in BIOS!
Interesting is, DVD mechanic is detecting in BIOS, is detecting in XP, operating system XP votes - DVD mechanic working correctly - its fable.
However, if I installed XP on second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I have now XP only, even if Vista is on first partition - I didnt delete it.
Do you think the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think, seeing that DVD-rom not respond in BIOS - HW error.
But is very strange, if I install XP from DVD mechanic and close then is done, DVD-rom not working ... : (
If I open it manually and insert the disc, DVD not working (led diode not blink, just if I turn computer off, led blinked once).

Your issue is very strange I mean the CD/DVD drive issue
Fact is that the CD/DVD drives eject function should functions no matter what OS was installed on your notebook. It has nothing to do with your software on the HDD.
So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not with preinstalled XP OS ?:|
My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a loose connection between the notebook and the drive. At the other hand the issue could be related to the hardware problem too
As you see its not easy to say whats wrong exactly we can only speculate.
Now some details about your dual OS installation.
You cannot choose between the Windows XP and Vista because the Vista boot manager was overwritten during the Win XP installation.
This happened to me too. I have installed Win XP on my Satellite and was not able to start Vista.
The solution was easy; I have used another original Vista DVD (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. The Vista has renewed the boot manager and then I was able to boot the Vista.
Then I have downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the settings the Vista boot manager. I have edited it and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.

The Fn 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 do not work
Also, I can not operatethe sleep and hibernate mode.

One question; Did you install the XP drivers which controls the FN keys functionality??
I think you didnt! Ive checked the Toshiba European driver page and the XP drivers for the A200 PSAEC dont exist at this time. So for me its no surprise that you cannot use the FN buttons!
Check this forum for similar questions about XP driver for A200 notebooks. There are some solution proposals!
Regarding your hibernation and standby mode question; The hibernation must be enabled in the Windows power options firstly!!!
The power option can be found in the control panel!!!

Satellite A200 -1VG - DVD RW Drive not working

Pls i need some help with my laptop. The DVD drive on my computer is not working properly.. It plays DVDs and CDs, but when i try to burn CDs or install a new program with a CD it gets to like 97% then stops and an error message shows up. It sometimes says the message cannot Run due to some errors.
Also i keep getting disconnected off the internet every 10mins, please what can i do

When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).

TV does not work anymore on Qosmio G10

TV does not work anymore, may be due to an update. It has been working OK before.
When selecting TV option 'TV direct ' with MCE menu, I get the following error message: "necessary files for video display are not installed or do not work properly, restart MCE or the computer". Restarting MCE and / or G10 does not solve the problem.
-Intervideo WinDVD creator is installed.
-TV PCI tuner seems to work properly (as per hardware status)
Which files can be missing? What needs to be done?
Any help, suggestions, well appreciated.

Like you know on this way it is not easy to give you precise answer because we dont know what did you done exactly with your Qosmio.
Please try to use System restore tool at first and roll back the operating system to earlier time. Maybe this will help you and the MCE configuration will be as before.
Try it at first.

Can not use my Satellite A200 with TV

sorry to bother you all with this - I recently purchased a Satellite A200-A1L and have been trying to connect it to my TV via s-video leads... I am not new to this and know how to set it up but I seem to be having problems doing it on this laptop.
I have enabled the TV and set up everything to go but my TV will not pick up the signal or the signal is not being put out by the graphics card? My previous laptop worked fine with s-video and the same TV I still own (a 24" Sony Trinitron). I purchased this laptop to do the same but it seems that it will not work - is there anything you can do to help me please?
Despite trying all the functions and reading in depth everything to do with the video outputs AND everything saying its running fine it just wont work HELP ME!!!
PS: I am happy with the laptop in general it is a nice piece of kit, I am just unhappy that the s-video will not run properly.

hi buddy, sorry to say i tried that but i get no signal. i dont have a lcd tv i have a sony trinitron, which worked fine before with s-vid. as i say i have tried everything in the book to get this running but to no avail..... all help would be greatly appreciated. a friend of mine had this exact problem too - he upgraded his laptop and could no longer use the s-vid with his older tv. to solve the problem he went out and bought an lcd tv. working fine now. if i had the money i would have 1 already and know it would work fine but i dont PLS PLS PLS help me
