Windws 8 to Windows 8.1 is impossible on my new PC?

I recently HP and Windows created a solution? bought a HP 500-164 Pavilion PC. Windows 8 was installed on it. I find the HP Support Assistantstrongly advises against attempting an upgrade to 8.1.. Why was I not told about this prior to purchase? Has HP and Windows provided a solution? Will they?

I believe Microsoft and all other hardware vendors are working hard on many problems from Windows 8.1. Hope Windows 8.2 will be available soon.

Quand j'ai acheté mon imprimante HP Photosmart Premium e-all-in-one C310 series en novembre dernier, elle marchait correctement avec Vista.
Depuis que j'ai installé Windows 7 64 bits, impossible de la refaire fonctionner normalement.
J'ai tout désinstallé et réinstallé plusieurs fois le driver pour windows 7 64 bits depuis le site d'HP. J'ai aussi installé à plusieurs reprises l'add on pour windows 7 64 bits du 5 mai 2011.
Impossible de faire marcher correctement l'imprimante depuis plusieurs semaines.
Je l'ai rapporté à la FNAC où elle a fonctionné (c'est en tout cas ce qu'ils m'ont dit) mais chez moi, elle m'annonce que les cartouches sont vides (je les ai donc changées...), que lescartouches sont mal alignées (je les ai donc réalignées...)...
mais je continue à sortir soit des photos toutes roses striées de lignes blanches, soit des textes qui ne s'impriment pas du tout (feuilles qui sortent blanches...)...
Je ne sais pas à qui m'adresser sur le site d'HP et celui-ci, après m'avoir rejeté mon mot de passe comme erroné, m'a refusé que je redésigne celui-ci comme mot de passe au motif que c'est l'ancien que je dois changer !!! J'en ai donc changé mais je bous de rage contre HP.
Un conseil vite pour la faire marcher avant que je jette mon imprimante par la fenêtre et que je rachète une autre marque qui fait des drivers compatibles avec Windows 7 et un site support qui fonctionne.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled several times the driver for windows 7 64 bit from the site ofHP. I also installed several times to add on 64-bit Windows 7 May 5, 2011.
Unable to walk properly the printer for several weeks.
I reported at the FNAC, where she worked (at least this is what they told me) but at home, shetold me that the cartridges are empty (so I've changed ... ) lescartouches that are misaligned (I have therefore realigned ...)...
but I still get to be all roses pictures streaked white lines or texts that do not print at all (whiteleaves out ...)...
I do not know where to go on the HP site and this, after having rejected my password aswrong, I was refused I renamed it as the password on the grounds that c is the former I have to change! So I changed but I simmering with rage against HP.
A tip quickly for it to work before I throw my printer out the window and I bought another brandthat makes drivers compatible with Windows 7 and support a site that works.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

Firefox closes existing window when you open and close a new window

When I'm using firefox and need to open a new window (or a website opens a new window) and I'm done with that new window and close it, Firefox attempts to also close the previous window that I am using. I've tried reinstalling, but other than that I don't know what to do. What usually happens when I close the window is that I have multiple tabs open in the other one and it asks me if I would like to close all my tabs. When I hit cancel, it asks me again. Once I hit cancel the second time it stops bothering me.

I thought it was doing that also. But I found that if I start a new chat with someone I was messaging before, then the old messages re-appear in the messages window.

I tried backup & restore without success. I have also found the .psess files and copied them to the catalog in the new computer but when the sides shows are opened none of the images or music is there. Only the text that I entered shows. I have even tried to replicate the file paths from the XP computer to the new computer to see if that will help.

UPDATE: By a stroke of luck I happened to find a catalog link (a PSE8D file) in the 'My Catalog' file where the imported data was stored. When I clicked on it to investigate what is was 'magically' all of my transferred projects appeared in Organizer. Upon further investigation I found that the projects transferred from my XP computer were stored in a hidden catalog that had to be accessed through the Custom Location option in Catalog Manager (accessed by clicking File then Catalog then Custom Location). No Windows or Elements search revealed this fact. I am appreciative that I just got lucky. The Adode/Photoshop company was absolutely of no help. If fact to me their structure is designed to avoid contact with their customers unless you're buying a new product. Their products have many good features (even though user unfriendly) and it's a shame they don't value their customers more once the sale is completed.
Bottom line: All of the projects (sideshows) have been recovered and work in my new Windows 7 computer. I hope my experience helps others.

I attempted to update my iPhone 4 from ioS 5 to ioS 6 from iTunes on my laptop using Windows 7 OS, I had downloaded the new ioS 6 and started the update on the iPhone 4 and everything seemed to be going routine until the phone had been going thought what I though was the update process, when an error window opened up and it said that an error had occured and the iPhone 4 could not be updated. I have never had a problem like this before and it caught me off guard and I did not note all the information in the error window, but it did not appear to indicate anything other than that I would have to abort the update and did not think it would be that big of a problem. I tried to disconnect the phone and was going to do the update at a different time when I could investigate what the problem was. However I could not get iTunes to recognize the iPhone 4 after this and still cannot. After rebooting the laptop a few times and also trying to reset the phone a few times as well, I just have a dead phone. The iPhone 4 just has the image of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to an icon for iTunes. I have tried to get iTunes to recognize the iPhone, but cannot get it to. I am unable to do anything else with the phone. It seems like the phone is in a state where it does not have enough software loaded to do anything or I don’t know how to get it to. Any suggestions how I can get my iPhone 4 back into service. Note: iTunes still recognizes my iPad and iPods, so iTunes seems to be okay to me. Craig

I had this problem on my iPod Touch 4g. Just press the home and sleep button. Wait and it will give an iTunes and cable logo. Now you can put in DFU mode (Hold Sleep and Home button 10 seconds and then release the power button kand keep pressing on the home button.) Now you will be able to restore it in iTunes.

Baiscally if your Mini came with Lion Pre-installed new then No you can't use XP.
The Lion installed computers no longer support XP OR Vista via Apple's Boot Camp.
For one thing Apple only supported XP with SP2 in order to install it on pre Lion computers.
If the Mini had come pre-installed new with say 10.6 then you could have installed XP and still of been able to upgrade to Lion without any issues as you already have the drivers for XP installed. Lion only has the drivers for W7.

How do I download Windows 7 64 bit drivers for my new MacBook Air (Mid 2011)? I have already formated the HD and preformed a clean install of Windows 7. Perhaps I did this too early. I have read I need to install the drivers from my OS X DVD, however, OS X Lion does not come on a DVD! I've also read that I can download OS X Lion from the App Store and burn it to a DVD, however, all I have are Windows PCs which don't support the Mac App Store.
Is there no way for me to download these drivers from a Windows PC? I know they exist. However, you are supposed to download them through Boot Camp in OS X when you are creating a new Windows 7 installation. I'm I stuck?

In the past, 10.6.6+ was suppose to - and sometimes did - provide for a download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant program, in order to save them to flash or such (that should be about 1GB, too large for CD). Some macs req'd a USB-DVD or other driver that was needed pre-install of Winidows

It is possible for me, with a tower, to run w/o needing any drivers from Apple. But with laptops, mini, you do need some drivers from Apple for graphics, internet, wireless, SMC support.
And right now, loading any Apple support Tech Note articles is very very slow.
People keep asking why Apple can't post 3.0 or 4.0 like they do the updates. Only logic is to force t he download from inside OS X or from an OS X DVD. Otherwise would be here, and avoid all the trouble. they aren't of use on a PC, and any PC motherboard vendor does post their support software for download.

Yes, yes, I've checked the Open in same folder option in folder options.
I've used shellex to disable context menu items.
I've rebooted a hundred times.
This is rediculous. Windows should only recognize ONE setting for this and that is the one in folder options. Anything else that affects it is a BUG!
I'm on build 7100 RC.
And I'm quite frustrated with this.

importing x64 keys to an x86 installation may not work. HKLM\WOW6432Node\Classes\Interface would have to be combined with (overwrite)
the standard location and then that be copied/imported to the x86 install. Even then, there might be some unanticipated problems.
It's good that you had a registry backup available in system restore. Although I like the inherent security and reliability in the Vista/Win7 system restore implementations, one thing that I miss was being able to pluck only the registry files from
a restore point; like I used to do with WinXP.

Also, that is too general. There is more nitty-gritty details that have to be verified, such as whether the issue is per-user,
or whether the "Explore" option is in bold and works properly when manually selected. In a lot of cases, that simply may not be in bold which means it's no longer the default action on double-click. (requires different set of steps to resolve,
focusing on another part of the registry) But from what you've stated on JAVA update 20, there well could be some changes to the HKLM portion of that Interface key... don't know. A before and after registry compare usually helps pin down the issue.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
