Wine 3D issue

I've been trying to get Wine 3D to work correctly for awhile now and I can't seem to be able to get it working correctly. When I try to load Guild Wars the login screen is very..."messed up" I guess I can say.
Here's a screenshot of what it looks like: http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/2473/48589698.png
If anyone knows a way to correct this issue it'd be very helpful!

  • Multiple Win 7 Issues

First off it will not let the software update to the new patch, always fails in windows 7, have deleted the temp
files and download manaully to no avail.  This has been since I did the fresh install of Win 7 & Acrobat Standard 9, i have not had a single one get the update in a dozen or so machines rolled out.
Now it seems that Acrobat 9 is degrading to not working at all.  It refuses to display .pdf files in either firefox or ie8.  It just opens a little blank popup window that says ok and then just does nothing.  I have started to get this randomly on non imbedded files as well and had to do a complete repair on my machines install at one point because it wouldn't open anything at all, just allways the blank error and then nothing.
Now it seems that the problem is spreading, users from all over the company have started to report the blank window and blank error issue.  Most of these users are Reader 9 users on Win 7, but some are Standard Users as well.   It is getting to the point that I may just have to download another 3rd party software so our users can get their work done.  Of course it worked fine in testing before deployment and now that it is on the floor well it just doesn't seem to want to work now.
What gives, anyone else seeing this weird behavior? I cannot find anything about Win7 other than it was tested and should work, however this issue started about a week ago and has steadly increased in scope.  Are we the only company out there to find this issue on the new Win 7 boxes?  Seems to only be Win 7 as I have no complaints from XP users and only have 1 vista machine, it seems fine.  Does not seem to matter if I am in as a standard end users, local admin account or full domain admin account, same behavior.

No it does specify Windows 7 is supported.  It is version 7 & 8 they don't support on Vista/7.

There is a similar problem in discussed in appdb but they did not find solution.
So I'm asking if there is a way to configure wine directx capabilities?
I know that wine supports directx7 and I'm fine with it, I don't want to install 9c
because I had similar problem with Call of duty 2 and installation of directx did
    not solve anything.
    som additional info:
    Wine version: wine-1.1.2
    Videocard: Nvidia Geforce 6600GT
    Videocard Driver version: 173.14.09-4
    Thanks,
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Yes.
I checked appdb and they do not know anything about this certain issue.
I also tried to run in wine 0.9.50 and got:

  • Wine/Jack issue - jack isn't showing up in winecfg!

Hey guys - I haven't been using wine for a while other than for Guitar Rig (which runs through wineasio and works fine) - but just recently I felt like playing some WoW just to find out that my sound had disappeared! I went to look in winecfg to meet that I've completely lost the option of JACK.
Now... I haven't played any games for a while, so it could be any problem - my kernel (I use the RC's), the new nVidia drivers, the new Wine (worked fine in 1.1.28) release - or just some other setting I've touched that I shouldn't have touched.
I tried running winecfg from CLI and got this output after entering the audio tab (jackd is running and outputting sound perfectly):
ALSA lib pcm.c:2171:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_jack.so

The file exists? I've also tried removing alsa-plugins (where the file got removed as intended), then reinstalling, just to meet the same issue.

    Still doing it:

  • Java Win XP issues

I created some java applications and applets a couple of years back during a course I was doing at the time. I went to show someone the work I had done and for some reason it no longer works. I have java 1.4.1 installed which used to work fine but all of a sudden it no longer does. When running an application I know is correct a "java.lang.noclassdeffounderror message is generated.
Any Windows Updates that could have caused this issue?
I have run the same code on other win xp PCs and it works fine.
I have upgraded the version of java on my PC and still the same message is reproduced.
I have disabled my firewall and tried to execute the code with the same result.
    I would appreciate any advice.

Silly me, I should have read the previous messages as my question has already been answered.

  • Wine sound issues after update (Arch64)

I've had Spotify running under Wine for a while, but after a recent wine update it said that there was a "problem with your sound card" and running the audio test via winecfg failed.
I deleted ~/.wine and ran winecfg again and the audio test was successful... But when I ran it (or any other wine program) subsequently it failed.
I re-read the wiki and tried running "WINEARCH=win32 winecfg" instead and adding "export WINEARCH=win32" to ~/.bashrc, but that hasn't helped either.
A few days ago I set up a new PC and had the same problem, so I was expecting to see other people reporting it, but I can't find any mention of the issue, so I'm really stumped!
Can anyone suggest how I can find out the cause of the problem?

karol wrote:What do you use for sound - alsa, oss ...?
I use alsa...  I think!  Although I don't remember specifically having to set up sound when I installed Arch.  The XFCE mixer panel applet shows "HDA Intel (Alsa mixer)" in the sound card pull-down menu.
Since the Spotify instructions suggest selecting OSS in the winecfg, I did so - and didn't really expect it to work, but it was working fine like that for months.  Now the audio test (in winecfg) fails whether I select alsa, oss or jack.
karol wrote:The most recent change wrt sound involves not autoloading snd-pcm-oss anymore.
Yes; the problems I'm having occurred after a wine update roughly two or three weeks ago.  The more recent changes to /etc/rc.conf and module loading don't seem to have made any difference to the issue.
It just seems really strange that the audio test works the first time I run winecfg with no ~/.wine profile...  And it's also odd that it just stopped working suddenly without me doing anything (as far as I know!) and that no one else seems to be having the problem, yet both of my Arch PCs are affected...
I've just discovered that if I delete ~./wine and never touch the audio tab in winecfg, Spotify works on both PCs.  If I click the audio tab, wine says that "There is no audio driver currently specified in the registry.  A recommended driver has been selected for you...".  If I apply the changes the audio fails every time whichever driver I choose.
Ideally I'd like to find out what's causing the problem so I can fix it and have winecfg working as it should be, but at least I have a workaround so I can listen to Spotify again...

  • Wine fullscreen issues

When I try to fullscreen certain applications in wine, it does a couple of things:
    * It changes my resolution, both on my main and my other monitor, probably to match the resolution of the game. Key here is that also the resolution of my other monitor is changed, which shouldn't happen
    * It resizes the window of the application to the size of my main monitor
    * The application still appears in the same size as before, now in the top left corner of the monitor it was on. The rest of the application's window is gibberish, artifacts from windows that used to be there and such
So far this has occured on the VNs Yume Miru Kusuri and Tsukihime, as well on multiple of the Touhou games (I don't know which exactly, but I know for a fact that Touhou 6 does this).
I'm using i3 as window manager, but I recall that similar problems have occured with the Touhou games on dwm and I believe some other tiling WMs. Notably, the problem does not occur on Awesome WM.
The problem does not occur on all wine applications. I don't use WINE much for things other than VNs and the Touhou games, but I know for a fact that the problem does not occur with Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

Changing the primary monitors resolution to that of the wine applications window size and then running it in a virtual desktop (wine explorer /desktop=Wine,_XSIZE_x_YSIZE_) could be one workaround.
Edit: Never used i3 myself, so this may not apply. Works with most problematic applications with openbox as windows manager (without DE).

  • Odi 11g under win 7 issue

    Hello.
I have a problem with installation ODI 11g (11.1.1.3.0) under Widows 7. When I start setup.exe (run as Administrator), Oracle Universal Installer starts, but needs to specify path to JDK
"Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from C:\Users\PETRCH~1\AppData\Local\Temp\OraInstall2010-11-05_09-47-31AM. Please wait ...
Please specify JDK location ( Ex. /home/jdk ), <location>/bin/java should exist:"
When I input a correct path, installer looks like working but suddenly installator window closes without any error.
Does anybody have the same problem?
And my other question is, does anybody install ODI 10g under Windows 7?
    Thanks for advices.
    Petr.

    Hi,
    I experienced the same issue.
if you are running seven on a 64bits , please be sure you specify a 64 bit jdk path. Oracle universal installer should then work.
Then when launching ODI, specify a 32 bit JDK as ODI is 32 bits...
    Hope this helps,

When I tried to use this recently it would not boot. Created a system repair CD later. Worked fine recently. Recently created a system recovery bootable USB on a 16GB SanDisk Cruzer. It also would not boot but web research shows that others have found this problem with this size and brand of USB. System board replaced March 2014New system board runs Computrace by Absolute Software to protect against theft. The password must be entered about once every 3 months during booting. Bios was updated afterwards and the software is still active. SSD installed in mSATA slot August 2015Original HD kept installed.New SSD slightly larger than old HD.Paragon software used to move Windows partition. This created a dual boot option. Had to run repair to fix dual boot even though everything run as administrator. Tried to install Windows 10 since Windows 7 had minor annoying issues that when researched the solution was to ignore since they do not cause problems. To prevent possible issues the HD was physically removed during the Windows 10 install.Saved Windows 10 to a 64GB USB.Booted USB successfully and installed ran for maybe an hour where I observed it doing the copy and then the install step.Completed successfully and a reboot was the next step.Reboot fails with “Missing Operating System”.Booted from USB to fix and neither of the above product keys work.Tried to use skip option and compatibility reports to restart from the SSD which does not work.If repair choosen from USB message received is “The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again.” Since I seemed out of options I reinstalled the HD and recloned it to the SSD to get the SSD again working. After doing the above I have multiple questions. It appears that the installation of the new system board caused the need to get a new Windows 7 product key. How do you do this?Is it true that a 16GB SanDisk Cruzer cannot be used booted from? How would one unlock a disk drive?Should I really keep the dual boot from the HD and the SSD as backup? And the important question – How should I proceed to get a successful installation of Windows 10 on the SSD?

  • Satelite M40-130 Win XP issue - How to get W2k to work

I had to reinstall windows XP more than 4 times. This is what happened at each instance.
After about one year the computer seemed to become slower and slower, finally stopped.
At restart it worked again but soon stopped and rebooted automaticly ending in a warning about damaged boot file ntoskrnl.exe.
Reinstalling XP seemed to work fine, but the same happened 3 month later.
Reinstalling and 1 month later the same problem.
Etc. As I have the best experience with W2000, I am now fed up with XP.
As Vista is certainly not a better alternative I decided to put W2000 on this machine.
The installation went without problems, but the netwerk cannot be reached.
What do I need to do to make W2000 work on this machine.
If I need an update BIOS, where can I find it. Toshiba site does not mention M40 anymore!
    Thanks for helping.
    Gijs

    Hello
I bought Satellite M40 four years ago and I made very good experiences with it. Later I bought M70.
Satellite M40 is supported for WXP and I must say that WXP ran very good and stabile on this notebook. I used it over 1,5 year and didnt have any serious problems with it.
I have checked Toshiba download page and I have noticed that your Satellite M40 (PSM40E) is not supported for W2000 and you will not find any driver or Toshiba specific tool or utility. So if you install W2000 you must search for drivers looking around on the internet.
All stuff for Satellite M40 you can find on Toshiba support and download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com but under Product family you must choose option ARCHIVE.
Fact is that so many people buy brand new models but want to use WXP. My advice it so use WXP. It is good and stabile operating system. What you must do is take care about OS. From time to time you must remove all useless stuff, format the HDD and be sure useless processes don't run in the background.
Without OS maintenance it is normal that OS will runs slower and slower. Nobody here know what you do with your notebook and how you use it and it is not easy to understand why you have this problem.
    >The reinstall option on the recovery CD of Toshiba has only one option, erase everything and start again
I don't know what do you expect what should happen with recovery installation. Recovery image is designed for OS installation and not for repair or OS cleaning. Fastest way to have clean and perfectly configured OS (hardware components) is to use recovery image.
I still believe WXP is the best option for you. Anyway, good luck with W2000.
    Bye

  • TS1363 I was upgrading iPhone OS from 5.1 to 5.1.1 on Win 7 using iTunes 10.6.1.7.  The iPhone hung.  It is no longer visible by iTunes on Win 7

While upgrading iPhone OS from 5.1 to 5.1.1 on Win 7 using iTunes 10.6.1.7, the iPhone hung.  I could not get iTunes to find it and Win 7 does not see it.
When I connect the iPhone to the USB, Win 7 issues the welcome sound, but that is it.  The same happens when I disconnect iPhone.
The Devise Manager has the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver correct without any problem.  I updated this driver called usbaapl64.
    The iPhone is still hung.
    I restarted the iPod service
I restarted the Apple Mobile Device Service
I tried to empty and delete the temp directory in C:\users\myname\AppData\Local\ but could not
The iTunes I am using is the latest version
I updated the Apple Mobile Device Driver as stated above correctly
The iPhone is still hung and is not recognized by Win 7 or iTunes, so I cannot restore the OS to the previous working version
What else can I do to restore the previous working OS on my iPhone 4

I was connecting the iPhone 4 to a USB 3.0 port.  I was told by Apple Express Support (at US$29.99) not to use USB 3.0 and to use USB 2.1 instead.
If you are connecting your iPhone to the computer using a USB 3.0 port, disconnect it immediately.  iPhones will lock up if you try to update while  using a connection through a USB 3.0 port.
Disconnect the iPhone from the computer
Go to Device Manager and find the connected USB port.  Click the mouse right button and update the driver
Shut the iPhone by pressing the sleep button and the home button concurrently for some time
Move the USB cable to a USB 2.1 port or older without the iPhone.
    Restart iTunes.
    Connect the iPhone
Your computer should recognize the phone and reloads the correct USB 2.1 driver (Apple Mobile Device)
Then iTunes should recognize the iPhone and starts reloading the firmware.
When that is complete it may ask if you wish to restore, naturally you say YES
    iTunes will restore the iOS
Using iTunes, restore the latest backup to get your data back.
When all of the above is completed.  Start enjoying your iPhone.
If the above does not work.  Throw your iPhone out of the window and get a replacement Android phone.

I can't seem to attach any screenshots (be helpful to be able to 'navigate' to them rather than type in a path).  But I havepasted below the full txt contained in the 'windows installer' pane that appears when the install fails.
Can anyone suggest any way to correct this problem please?  Btw, the new BB Link installs perfectly onto Windows 7.
Thanks in anticipation.  (On trying to post, I was informed that some invalid HTML has been removed - presumably that was in the 'paste' but I've no idea what it was or whether it affects anything, sorry).
    Regards, gil69.

I went back in the forum history to see Win 8 issues and how they were solved and found this post.

  • SQLSERVER7 connection problem on WIN 2000

    Hello-
Any help at all on this problem would be greatly appreciated. I'm running MSSqlServer 7.0 Desktop Version (with service pack 3) on Win 2000 and I get the follwing error when trying to connect to the db:
[DataDirect][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect
The DataDirect driver is loading fine. My code is fine (in fact DataDirect has their own code I can use to test their driver and I get this same exception).
Any ideas? Is there a JDBC issue with the desktop version of SqlServer7 or is this a Win 2000 issue?
    Thanks ahead of time!
    John

SQL Server can be configured to use named pipes, TCP/IP and a number of other protocols. Probably your server does not enable TCP/IP (all type 4 JDBC drivers for SQL Server use TCP/IP, I know this since I'm developing one -- jTDS, http://jtds.sourceforge.net).
You can configure SQL Server to use TCP/IP using the SQL Server Network Utility. It's quite intuitive, you'll see.
And, by the way, you can give jTDS a try. :o)

  • Warning notice popping up (in FF 4.0.1) -- "Something is trying to trick Firefox into accepting an insecure update. Please contact your network provider and seek help." Is this a known issue? A manual check for updates results in 'Firefox is up to date'.

    OS is Win Vista

This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.<br />
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder.<br />

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
