Wingdings and OCRB fonts in Web Intelligence 4.1 : not possible in pdf

Dear all,
I have a Web Intelligence document containing Wingdings and ORCB fonts.
This is possible in Web Intelligence 4.1 HTML viewer and editor.
However, when you export the Web Intelligence document to pdf, these fonts are changed to Arial :
Does anyone has a solution to display the Wingdings and OCRB fonts in pdf ?
According to SAP KB http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1825538, it should be possible from 4.0 SP8. I'm on BI 4.1 SP02 Patch 2

I fixed it as follows:
1. Modify the fontalias.xml
Location :
Solaris : /(install_dir)/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/solaris_sparcv9/fonts
Windows :
(instal_dir)/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win32_x86/fonts
(instal_dir)/SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win64_x64/fonts
To be added : see attachment : fontalias.txt
This is sufficient for a deployment on Windows
2. In case of Solaris
To be more precise : when the Web Intelligence Processing Server runs on a Solaris box, copy the ttf-files in the directory (see attachment) :
/(install_dir)/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/solaris_sparcv9/crpe/fonts

Web Intelligence Rich Client Not Cancel Query

Hi all
When i do a query in Web Intelligence Rich Client and CANCEL that query appears 3 options, but whit any option nothing happend and the laptop is block and i have to use the commands CTRL + ALT + DEL and finish the process.
What is the problem and the solution please.

Why a pdf document with embedded fonts can be copied but is not searchable in pdf reader

I am writing a pdf files with embedded subset fonts. As required, I am including the ToUnicode and CIDSet objects. To test, I created a simple PDF with two Hebrew characters. I can select the two characters and copy to the clipboard, and paste it properly into another application such as Word. But I am not able to search for a word containing these two characters. Adobe Reader (or Acrobat) displays the message that the word was not found. So in essence, I have created a PDF document which can be copied properly, but is not searchable. Any idea what I might be missing when creating the document?
Additional information: 1. The file in question is a minimal file with just two characters. I have tested with many such files in many different languages including English. None of the files are searchable. 2. Curiously, if I search for the letter 'e', Adobe reader highlights an incorrect word, even if the letter 'e' does not exists in the file. 3. Adobe acrobat is also not able to search within this file, however when I save the file to another disk file, the saved file now is searchable. I confirmed that the major objects such as the font-file, ToUnicode object, CID object, and the font description objects are the same in the saved file. However, one of the font object is brought up closer to the top of the file. 4. FoxIt is able to search these files properly.

I figured the app might have that ability - considering you can add text, highlight, add a signature, annotate and draw - so my thought was why not delete a page, or rearrange for that matter?.. That should be an option, this way we don't have to export to one of the other apps to delete or rearrange..

BTW if anyone is looking - PDF Max can do all of the above and delete and rearrange. With PDF Splicer you can delete and rearrange as well, but it has no other features.
And as for Steve Werner whose comment was deleted after it got to my inbox, it is much more than a Reader, as you can plainly see from the amount of tasks the Reader app can do above.

How do I fix this and see the error message when Adobe does not create a pdf from word?

I have a trial version of Adobe X and it will not create a pdf. A short message comes up but disappears before I can see what the problem is. Please help me fix this?

Possibly, though there isn't much to go on. Let's start with the basics.
Can you start the Acrobat application? It will sit there, looking like Adobe Reader or something?
If so, can you open an existing PDF, if you have one?

Printer skips lines and enlarges font between web based pages.

I've seen this happen when the Page Setup on the FireFox browser was set to 80% (or probably anything less than 100%). Check that setting and change to 100% and reprint.

Web Intelligence Java Applet not working in new Chrome versions (42+)

Hi all,
It used to work until recently. Now I encounter the following error when using the Webi Java Applet in Chrome:
I read about Google quitting some specific Java support. Is anyone experiencing the same issue? What is a recommended workaround/solution except not updating Google Chrome or switching the browser?

You can re-enable NPAPI with the following URL: chrome://flags/#enable-npapi and then click on "Enable" for the NPAPI plugin.

IE8 drag and drop in Outlook Web App OWA is not working

I'm having trouble identifying the cause behind an inability to drag and drop emails between folders in OWA (Exchange 2010).
The problem PC is running fully up to date 32 bit Windows XP SP3 with IE8. When I try to drag and drop an email all I see is a black stop symbol. On another PC with the same spec, logged in with the same user account, I can drag and drop emails fine between
folders in OWA.
I've tried clearing browser cache/history etc, resetting the browser to factory defaults, re-installing the browser, reducing security in the browser to absolute minimum, re-installing Java, Silverlight, S/MIME (although I'm sure it doesn't use these).
Can anyone suggest anything else, or provide helpful links? I've been looking at this for many hours without any progress. If I even just knew what component/tool/feature IE is using when it does/doesn't drag and drop I'd have somewhere to start...

I have this problem I heard there is a hotfix but I dint get the number, this affects any drag and drop options such as dropbox, sharepoint, etc..
When I get the number I will post it for you.
a work around is Chrome. but it has options for the html5 which is not present even in IE 10. :(.

Page Titles in Web Apps for SEO not possible?

I was surprised to find that you cannot control the page title of a web app item.
For example:

The page title is just "Brazil" and there's no way to control it? Ideally we'd want something like this for SEO reason.

You could place the SEO Title in the field "Item Name" and then if you would like a different title for the entry, you can create a custom field.

Updating Logon Data for Web Service in SICF not possible

Hello, hopefully someone can help me with my problem.
I have created a custom Web Service based on a custom Z Function Module.
This all works fine in our Development environemnt. I was able to go into SOAMANAGER and generate the end point. This created the web service in SICF. I was then able to go into SICF and change the logon data to use our service ID.
All tested and functionaing great.
We then transported everything to QAS. I again went into SOAMANAGER to generate the End Point, and this worked fine, we have the web service now visible in SICF.
The problem now occurs when I go into SICF and try go into change mode to enter the service user in the logon data tab. I get a popup message stating :
"You cannot use this transaction to change the service."
When I click on the long text explanation I get:
"Message SHTTP824
You cannot use transaction SICF to modify this service.
This means that only the application has the authorization to use the defined interface to modify this service."
Does anyone know how to get around this ? Or how to define our logon data using SOAMANAGER ?

the right way to transport logon info along with SICF service is to create an external alias for your BSP and maintain the logon info in the external alias.
other wise you have to open the production system for changes and change it , which may not be allowed.

What's wrong with my iTunes?

I'm having the same problems tonight with iTunes. It looks to me like this is a problem on Apple's end that they will hopefully resolve quickly. I have a number of purchases that I have tried to download but the purchase history is incorrect so I can't do my downloading. There are reports of these kinds of problems in other places within the Forum. I'm going to try again tomorrow night and see if Apple gets the iTunes problem fixed on their end.

How to add a barcode font for use in Web Intelligence (WebI) XIR2 and 3x?

Anyone have the steps to add a barcode font to WebI XIR2 and 3x? Not finding a good KBase on it and was also wondering if there any "gotchas" in terms of printing and exporting to .pdf.

Also, if the solution provided in the previous post doesn't helps you then try the following solution.
Following are the steps to apply barcode font (IDAutomationHC39M):
1) In Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:
-- C:\Windows\Fonts
2) On the File menu click Install New Font then browse to the font you want to install.
3) Edit the properties on the fonts you have just added:
In the "Embedding" tab, you should get a property like "Preview & Print embedding allowed".
But, nothing related to a license limitation regarding the embedding, else, you will not be allowed to use the added fonts in PDF or XLS generation.
4) Once the above points have been done:
-- Copy the .ttf fonts you want to use in the following XIR2 folder:
<BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\j2sdk1.4.2_08\jre\lib\fonts
5) Add the following entries into the fontalias.xml file, which is in the following folder:
<BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\fonts

8) Restart the Businessobjects servers or local computer.
9) Login in to infoview and create a new web intelligence report by using the Java Report Panel or Html Report Panel;
10) In the left pane, select the "Cell Format Properties": you will notice that an entry "IDAutomationHC39M" has been added into the font dropdown list.
Just test the above u2018IDAutomationHC39Mu2019 barcode font, at your end and update me with the results.

Difference Between BEx Web and Web Intelligence

Hi,
Could someone help me understand why someone would want to choose SAP BW BEx Web over Web Intelligence (apart from license issues)?
Web Inteligence is a very strong tool from a UI point of view and has can do most of the functions that SAP BW BEx Web can. WebI allows users to actually create your own reports.
A couple of drawbacks with WebI
- I can see is that Web Intelligence does not handle SAP BW hiearchies very well (i.e. they are not shown in a hierachical manner).
- WebI holds the data within the report which can mean long run times. BEx Web only brings back data for fields that are shown in the report
I have heard people saying that BEx Web is an OLAP tool and WebI is not. How does this make a difference?

Web Service consumption in Web Intelligence

Dear Community Members,
does anyone have an idea how-to consume Web Services in Web Intelligence?
The scenario is the following:
The data is stored as XSTRING (ABAP AS) and it is retrieved via ABAP Web Service which translate the XSTRING into STRING.
However, is there a possibility to consum this web service in Web Intelligence resp. is it possible to access the data via SQL as Ingo Hilgefort has it posted on his wiki Page to access SAP via SQL:

Use the WebI rich client (assuming you are using XI 3.x) to build a new report. Activate the Other data sources option and choose there Web services . It will enable you to choose a Web service as data source.
Starting with SP3 this type of provider can be refreshed dynamically when the report is viewed in the InfoVIew.
