Winlogon.exe file running from an improper path

Apologies if this is already covered,
i have a toshiba satellite T8100 and recently it has been switching itself off and it then takes up to three attempts to reboot. I ran a scan using AVG and the results showed that the file winlogon.exe was running from  an improper path. The error actually shows up twice in the same scan as follows: C:\ Program Files\Windows User\winlogon.exe and then again with (2044) on the end. It then goes on to say: File is running from an improper path. Help and suggestions to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance

A machine that switches off needs more than software fixing. The usual reason for this is heat building up. Better take care of that.
I would ignore what the AVG scan says.
Unless you are running Windows Vista, you should certainly avoid the advice you got here.

  • Determining the name of the jar file running from JAVA

    Hi everyone,
This is probably a silly question, but how do you determine the name of the jar file running from within the jar file.
E.g. If I'm running the jar file "Test.jar", then how can I get the String value "Test.jar" from within my program?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks:)

I think that you can use the solution above to get the jar file resources associated with a particular jar file, and then use the JarFile class to get a manifest of whats in there, and then find your class?
This is only off of the top of my head, and I haven't tested it. Let me know if it works

  • Virus? Duplicate csrss.exe and winlogon.exe files outside Windows/System32

    Hi,
My computer has been running extremely slowly while performing normal tasks (i.e. web browsing, typing).
I found a second copy of 'csrss.exe', which as I understand is frequently a trojan. The copy is located in the following file path:
    C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-csrss_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_58ba39fb456943bd
I also found two extra copies of 'winlogon.exe', at the following paths, as well as in Windows\System32:
    C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-winlogon_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_6f99573a36451166

I ran the Norton antivirus scan, the Norton Power Eraser, a few csrss.exe-targeted scans, and spyware search & destroy, none of which detected a virus. I tried moving/renaming the file, but this is denied by the system.
I used Windows Process Explorer, and the first time,  both csrss.exe & winlogon.exe were verified as system processes. This time I ran and the processes have no info (Version: n/a; Build Time: n/a; Path: [Error opening process]).
I'm running Windows 7 Professional on a local domain.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

The second copy is a backup and in that location probably normal.  I doubt malware is the cause of your system running slow more likely system corruption

Plz Help !!!! Thnx in advance

What is the need for such a security?
If you are an administrator and you want to run the EXE file in background in all other user accounts (which are non-admins), you can simply add the file path under the run key in registry. The registry entry is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
The EXE file is not visible to non-admin users (of course, visible to administrators), even in Task Manager.
Depending on the application behaviour and the way it works, it may or may not be visible in system tray or task bar.

  • How to fetch the Date column(or Month column) from the file name from the specified path in ODI 11g

    Hi ALL,
Can any one help us regarding How to fecth the Date column(or month column) from the file name specified in the path in a generalized way .
    For example :
file name is :subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv is specified in the below path
      E:\Accounting\documents\subscribers (Cost) Sep13.csv
here I need to fetch the "Sep13" as a Date column in the ODI 11g in the generalized way.
Can any one help us in this case as early as possible.

I would suggest using a piece of Jython code for this.  Something like this...
    import os
    import os.path
    filelist  = os.listdir(E:\Accounting\documents\)
    for file in filelist:
    datestr = file[19:-4]
You'd need to work out what to do with datestr next...  perhaps write it to a table or update an ODI variable with it.
Hope this is of some help.

  • Name of .exe file generated from Air Help

Is there a way to customize the name of the .exe file generated by the Air Help output? I can specify the name of the .air file. But when the Air application is installed, the .exe filename is the same as the help title ("Help Title" field in the Adobe Air dialog box) . This means the help title is used in the title bar of the Air application, on the Start menu and Add/Remove Programs, and in the filename.
I would like to use a shorter, one-word filename. I would expect the name of the .air file to be the name of the .exe file.
I'm generating an Adobe Air application using RoboHelp 8.
    Thanks,
    - Maura

I assume you are creating the file as a java.io.File object. Under those circumstances you should be able to specify the name and target directory when you save it:File f = new File(directory+System.getProperty("file.separator")+filename);Or, if you have already named it:
f.renameTo("file.txt");Actually, now I look at it, I may have totally misunderstood what you are trying to do there- are you naming it right in the hyperlink?

  • Why does my .exe file run on the PC I created it on, which has LV installed, but it will not run on a PC which does not have LV installed?

I am trying to run a stand alone application on a PC which does not have Lab View installed. I created the executable file and the installer. However, when I run the .exe the VISA functions contained in the VI return error messages and the power supply I am trying to control does not respond. The stand alone application will run on a PC that has Lab View installed.
My application initially used a VISA resource control to selct the instrument GPIB address on the PC I used to create the application. Since the PC I am trying to run the .exe on has an older version of NI-MAX I cannot create aliases that the VISA control can interpret.I have tried to upgrade NI-MAX hoping that would solve my problem:
    Here is what I tried:
uninstall NI-488 and NI-MAX ( if you want to uninstall MAX you must uninstall NI-488 ) reinstall NI-488 and NI-MAX Ver 3.1 then try to install NI-MAX version 4.1 which I downloaded from NI website. When I do this I get an error message when I try to run MAX. None of this worked so I hard coded the instrument address as a constant and again that works on the PC with LV installed but does not on the PC without LV.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like you do have the LabVIEW runtime engine installed.  It might be that the VISA drivers you have are not compatible versions.  In NIMAX, look under software to see what versions of VISA software you have installed on both systems.
It does not matter what version of NI MAX you have installed, since your application does not use NI MAX.  NI MAX only helps you look at (or simulate) the hardware and software you have on your system.
One thing you could do is include drivers and the runtime engine while creating your installer.  That way, you should be able to do a complete install on a clean system.

  • Using Flash Media player to play files run from a database

    Hello all,
I have a dynamic webpage which is connected to a MySQL
database displaying dynamic information stored in a MySQL table.
One additional field I have added is a 'video' field in which
the path to a flash video file is displayed.
I have a number of user (each user corresponds to a row in
the table) pictures which are stored in a folder, but the paths to
which are stored in the database.Using Dreamweaver, I can drag the
dynamic binding onto the image place holder and then it will lift
the corresponding image from the table, but the flash video player
doesn't seem to allow me to do this.
I would like to do something similar for flash videos, but
I'm not sure how to do it. Whenever I add a flash movie through the
media player I need to specify the path - which will change
depending on what entry in the table is being viewed.
I have created my websites only with dreamweaver and can't
program which probably explains why I've got no idea what to do.
Hope I made sense - will gladly clarify or send you my code.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Jar file runs from the command line, but not when I double click it

    Hello, I'm running windows xp. I've created an executable jar file and it runs fine from the command line when I type;
    java -jar wizard.jar
but, when I double click it . . . nothing.
    Any ideas?

nothing ? that's weird, windows XP should prompt you to select the program you want to use in order to open Jar files (and give you this silly piece of advice to search the web for the appropriate program)
you might want to check what program (if any) got associated with .jar extensions :
in Windows Explorer : Tools => Folder Options => File Types

  • Does turning off debugging help a compiled .exe file run faster?

I'm trying to get my application to run faster.  I saw on this website that turning off the debugger makes the application run faster but it's unclear if that applies to the development platform or a compiled executable.

You are probably referring to this KB article: General Performance Improvements. When you create a stand-alone application you can also enable debugging. This will save the block diagrams so you can debug the application while it's running. Normally when you build an app the block diagrams is stripped.
The amount of impact that turning off debugging will have to your VI/app performance is hard to say. To best way to get a VI/app to run faster is to improve the code in the first place. This means avoiding very large memory arrays, not initializing and closing references every time you iterate in a loop, minimizing file I/O, etc. If you provide some idea of what your code does, and can perhaps post your code, specific suggestions can be provided.

  • Excel invalid path in exe file

    Hi,
I have an issue with my application I'm using the report file generation tool to read data from an excel file and I receive an error
    "Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  File not found. The file might have been moved or deleted, or the file path might be incorrectly formatted for the operating system. For example, use \ as path separators on Windows, : on Mac OS, and / on UNIX."
when I open my xls file I was told that it is because the path in the exe file doesn't match the path during devellopement, in the exe file it seems to point to a dll file.
    Does anybody have a solution?
    Thank you
    Olivier

    Hi,
Does your program work fine in the development system, and the problem occures after building an exe-file ?
If that.s the case, I have had a similar problem. I solved it by adding some of the VIs in the _excelsub.llb located in "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\vi.lib\addons\_office" to my project and then to "dynamic VIs and support files" in the build specification. I could not add the complete llb because some of the VIs where broken (maybe some issue with my installation.. ). If you look trough the code in the report VIs you use you find the VIs that are dynamicly linked and therefore have to be added to the build.
    Good Luck !

  • Created  a exe file, what do i need for it to run oanother computer

I have made a exe file from a my java class, (don't know if it works cos it said something about not finding same file or another, but i ran ok).
So I have the exe file, run exe, build exe. Do I need both of these?

I have made a exe file from a my java class
    How???

  • Can run .exe but cannot use .exe file with 64 bit operating system

I built an application in labview (32 bit) in xp. The exe file generated from the labview 2009 is able to function well in windows vista (32 bit). For this i installed run time engine and since my application requires vision tools so i also installed the vision run time engine 2009. The application reads values of a device (from microcontroller) from the virtual com port (through USB).
Now the problem is the .exe cannot response in Windows 7 (64 bit). For this i installed Run Time engine 2009 (for 32 bit) and also vision run time engine. The exe runs but does not read any value from the COM port and does not response any thing.
This is somehow related to 64 bit operating system.
Further to mention, the control input for 'VISA resource name' input of 'Visa Configure Serial Port' block generally detects the COM Port where the device is connected (e.g. COM1, COM2 etc)  and used to display the choices (on drop down menu) but with 64 bit operating system this is not happening.
What could be the possible problem? I would be happy to know if someone has come across this problem or if someone can help me to solve this problem.
Simply i would like to run an .exe application build in 32 bit to run in an operating system of 64 bit. This application has VISA and Vision motion tools.

NI VISA is a software abstraction layer for different physical interfaces (e.g. RS232).
I understood that your application is working with this in order to select and communicate with COM interfaces.
MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer) is the tool to configure and test NI drivers, in this case VISA.
So if no COM shows up in MAX, you have a malfunction (or missing) installation of VISA.
