WINRAR NEEDS ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTS TO UNZIP FILES

I have domain network consisting windows 7 professional 64 bit as clients and windows server 2008 standard and 2012 as servers. My problem is when standard users try to open files zipped in winrar software. They need administrative privileges. Can anyone
guide me. How standard users can directly access winrar software.

Hi Saleem,
With a standard account, you can do almost anything that you can do with an administrator account, but if you want to do something that affects other users of the computer, such as installing software or changing security settings.
Since the developer of this tool designed to run this tool with administrator privilages, there may be some security factors included .You may need to look for help from the Winware forum for help.

  • Can't install ; i need administrator rights that i have

    Hello,
I tried many time to install Air but I always failed...
They keep telling me that I need administrator rights, but I have and i launch the installation with them.
I tried many ways (like using this as told : http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/en-us but it didn't work as well, the program is uninstalled - I need to install it again -, and it doesn't appear on the installation programs...) and searched everywhere but without success ; that's why I finally decided to ask here.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Itune needs administrator rights to install updates in win xp sp 3

I have an issue with ITunes application with user profile and administartor profile. ITunes needs administrator right to install updates.
Under normal user profile , ITunes not able to install any updates.
It required manual works from administartor to run the application as "Administrator". Application level permission ( itunes.exe ) has full rights to the user,
but still ITunes needs administrator rights.
Please advise on how to install iTunes updates without Administrator rights.

It can't find the uninstaller. Use Revo uninstaller for the PCSuite and all Nokia related driver software and clean the registry with Ccleaner.

  • I have installed Firefox 5.0.1 and need administrator rights to run it and have lost my list of bookmarks.

Recently, I upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1. I now require administrator rights to run it. If I start Firefox with ordinary user rights, I am presented with an error message which says that sqlite3.dll is missing from my computer. This file is actually present in three locations on my computer. However, Firefox runs if I start it with administrator rights.
The spell checker no longer works, my list of bookmarks, which was quite extensive, has now disappeared. Also, my history has disappeared too. A security package which I used when
accessing my bank account has also disappeared. This was called Rapport.

    Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Need administrator rights to save vi's

    Hi,
in our department we've installed some computers with LabVIEW 7.1 and did an upgrade to 7.1.1. After the upgrade mass compiling was started. The problem now is that when a normal user (with non administrational rights) wants to use LabVIEW he/she gets asked if some certain vi's (subvis) shall be saved. But because he/she hasn't got administrativ rights this fails. Unfortunately in order to get to work with the simluation toolkit, LabVIEW needs to save some vis. Otherwise imprting of Simulink models will fail. Who can I solve this problem. Giving the normal user write access to the NI-Program folder is NO final solution since the computer pool is used by various students.
    Thanks for the help,
    Dietmar Winkler

You may also need to allow access to certain libraries, as discussed in this thread.
As mentionned in my previous reply, you can set individual privileges (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy) so that users can "load and unload" device drivers, vi's etc. Since the PC is shared, you may have to create a common folder that can be accessed by everyone. Humm... actually, you may not want that either..
Here is what NI has to say from their Knowledge-Base: click here
    Hope this helps.

  • Administrator rights required

    Hello,
I installed the latest Flexbuilder 3 beta on my company
laptop. Installing went ok, which amazes me because normally you
    need administrator rights.
But ones installed I found the same trouble back in the
debugger flash version. We do not have it installed, nor can I
install it because I do not have administrator rights. Is it
possible to somehow get a debugger up and running without the need
    for administrator rights required.

How exactly does one give it those file permissions? I suspect this issue may (but may not) be related to switching from one kind of Adobe account to another, let me explain.
This is probably not a very common situation when it comes to the Adobe license. I work for a university, and my department paid for a CC teacher/student edition for me for about 2 years. The university I work for is one of 14 public universities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that are united in something called PASSHE. PASSHE entered into a massive license agreement with Adobe, and so now I qualify for a CC license under this massive license to PASSHE, so I cancelled the individual account that my department had been paying for. Adobe gave me misinformation as to how to switch over my license, to make a long and miserable story short. So...when you say "file permissions" and "user account" are you talking about my user account on my computer, or the Adobe user account? And where, exactly, do I go to enter whichever credentials it wants?

  • Start Diadem without Administrator rights

If try to start Diadem 9.1 with the rights of "Benutzer" or "Gast", I get the error message:
    "File-Acces Error: 5! ..\Programme\..\Diadem9.1\ must be writeable!"
Simple user has no write acces to path ..\Programme\.. indeed. (Win2000Pro and WinXPPro)
How can a user without administrator right start DIAdem ?
    Martin Bohm
    [email protected]

You don't need administrator rights to launch DIAdem 9.1!
Just during the installation and the first DIAdem launch it is necessary to have administrator rights. After this simple user rights are enough.
But DIAdem needs access to the Windows temp path (that's standard) and needs access to the files "Desktop.ddd" and "Userpar.par" as well as to the folders where you would like to store you files created by DIAdem.
On NTFS partitions you typically don't have write access on the Windows program folder. But therefore you can launch DIAdem with the parameter /d to specify where your desktop file is stored e.g. c:\program\...\DIAdem.exe /dD:\MyDIAdemKonfigPath\Default.ddd

  • Business Objects XI 3.1 Administrator rights

    Hi:
Could someone tell me or point in the right direction for determining if any, or which Business Objects desktop application may require the user to be part of the sytem administrator group?  Currently running BO 6.5 Supervisor and Recipient Manager modules, among others but we will soon be upgrading to Business Objects XI 3.1 - I know we need administrator rights to install so I'm onl asking about running the applications - thanks

    Hi Darlynn,
administrator rights (on OS side) are not required in order to run most BOBJ dekstop applications (e.g Universe Designer, rich WebI client, DeskI client). Still you have to take care eventually of firewall issues if you have a firewall between your server and your clients.
Please make also sure that the users have write access to the temp directories used by the tools e.g. Universe designer.
You may have some issues with the Import Wizard though since it requires write access to it's installation directory (this is where its temp directory resides). That was at least the case in XI R2.
The Import Wizard is not every user's tool though.

    Stratos

  • Administrative rights to Windows Server

I know that we need administrative rights to a window box during
    installation and configuration.
After cutover to production, is it possible for the DBA to survive if
    administrative rights are revoked?
What daily/often-run tasks will be affected?
    Thanks for any suggestion.
PS (Our system admin has taken away admin rights from the DBA, so far, we
are able to identify 10 problem areas, but all of them have workaround/fixes
    of some sort).

There's difference between Local and Domain user in windows environment.
Local user with ORA_DBA should be able to do most Oracle administrative tasks.
However, Oracle DBA account is usually given local administrator privilege on the server.

hello, I have a problem about Adobe reader.
since I will migrate my workstations to Windows 7, Adobe reader application administrator rights to perform the update 10.1.8 update.
This concern is not present in Windows XP.
obviously, I can not put all my users as administrator of their position.
someone he knows a solution to this problem?
    thank you

Dear Pat, thanks about your aswer.
Yes, I know if I want to Adobe reader, on XP or Win7, I need inevitably Aministrator right.
but, normally, it seems to me there doesn't need administrator right to install the update for Adobe, and this is my probleme. if one of my users, want to install an upgrade, administrators right are ask.

  • Cannot update itunes keeps saying need admin rights.

I've tried to update itunes and it keeps telling me I need administrator rights to update itunes.  Any ideas?

You may have had an autoupdate from Norton since then that changed things. Check your preferences in Norton and make sure you are not scanning the iPod or songs. Also, if you are manually managing your music, you will have to disable scanning external devices.

  • How provide CrystalReports without administrator rights?

    Post Author: vtortola
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi!
I'm developing a SmartClient application that is deployed with ClickOnce from a web server. The application, use several crystal reports features and I need deploy the needed dlls with ClickOnce.
From my understanding, for install Crystal Reports runtime I need administrator rights, but this mean that the sysadmin must go to each computer and installs it, that isn't posible.
I need deploy the Crystal Reports assemblies or dlls in my application path and know how use it. How I can do it??
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

Thanks for the link, John. It takes me to customer support but they say I need technical support.
While I wait for their office to open, can you provide some details how you or others got around this issue? There are a few tertiary questions I hope to have answered if possible. And since you were te first to reply, I thought you would be best suited for them.
Wha that are your thoughts on the remaining questions?

  • Cannot access folders and files even with Administrator rights

Hours & days gone trying to solve niggling issues that Microsoft cannot fix (using the built-in diagnosis tools/compatibility options/MS promises to advise when solutions found). But I am stopped from progress by restrictions to folder & file access preventing self-diagnosis. Why are administrator rights not effective? How do I as Administrator give myself access rights? If not available how do I return to XP and retrieve the cost of Windows 7? Note that the PC compatibility test tool for Win7 upgrade from XP noted no significant problems!

It appears that these are symbolic links and that WIn7 hasn't got the wherewithal to follow the symlink to the real folder to assess the security settings. - Hence everyone's frustration.
For those of us who are extremely technical, we'd like to be able to remove and re-create a link as needed to test a scenario...
I've done it for years with Altos Xenix, SCO Xenix, SCO OS/5, AIX and Linux from Caldera 2.2 through todays versions... Windows has been moving in a direction to incorporate more *nix like concepts as they move away from their DOS orientation, but in the process
they have focused on the "general user" at the expense of the "administrative user" (i.e. "root" in *nix)
I've always wanted to try a stripped down, non-backwards compatible, Windows Server. I'm sure it could be made admin-friendly and allow push updates without spending thousands of dollars on push-update software mechanisms... But so far, they've missed the boat.
I have 1 Win7Prof PC at home, 1 Mac and 2 Debian systems. Both the Win and OS/X systems make it very hard to administer/customize/etc. the OS. The 2 Debian systems give more bang for the buck and don't inhibit the root user at all once you make 2 changes (using
"su root" as a user) in /etc/pam.d to allow logging into the desktop as root.
We can always hope MS will see those of us who recommend server platforms as a market at some point. (Wouldn't it be awesome to have basic *nix constructs available for admins? And "bash" vs. "cmd"?)
I certainly don't see any need to utilize Windows except in those cases where some vendor/site is compatible with MS/IE only. There are a few of them and I rail on them constantly to be platform independent. Our software is. It takes a lot of work, but
we use Apache/MySQL/PHP to deliver our medical practice management application from any of the *nix-OS/X-WinServer server platforms to anyone who has Chrome/FireFox/Safari/Opera/IE or
similar browsers. But administering the server platform under Windows is about 5 times more time intensive to install and about 10 times more time intensive to maintain than *nix platforms.
We have about 200 Linux servers we are able to support with 4 staff. We have about 50 Windows servers we are able to support with 4 staff.
With numbers like that, I don't see us leaning toward Windows in the foreseeable future.
