WIPE HANDHELD?

When I wipe the device goes it go back the settings when I received the device? I have apps that I can;t get off.

When you wipe the device it asks wipe only internal memory storage (saved information) or third-party applications too?
And it acts according to your answer.

  • Wipe Handheld - Upgrading Phone

I am trying to wipe all of the data and apps off of my Blackberry Curve 9330 3G phone.  I completed the "Wipe Handheld" feature but it still is requiring a password.
I used to get my work email pushed to my BB via the Blackberry Enterprise Exchange Server, and my company required a password be set on the handset in order to get the emial pushed.
My question is how do I eliminate the need for this password since I have sold the phone and all of my data has been wiped from it.  I tried going under options/settings/password, but the "enable password" box is checked and there's no way that I have found to uncheck it.
    Thanks!

How do I wipe everything off, and go back to the way the phone was set when I got it? I am thinking that might be the only way to fix my wifi issue. Thanks!

Hello, if you havent tried the doesktop manager option, you can do it from the device aswell... Just make sure you save all your contacts to your SIM.
you can go into your Security Options (in Options menu) and select wipe handheld.

    Hi there,
Look for the icon on your homescreen that looks like a wrench. Select that, then go to Security Options > General Settings, press the BB Menu button and select Wipe Handheld.
That should work for you, but if you need further assistance, let us know.

  • Very secure BB Curve 8320 - wipes itself if the battery dies or is removed

I seem to have purchased an interesting BB last year. If I let the battery die or even remove it from the BB I then lose everything and have to reload the OS and restore my last backup. This has become very painful as I have acquired some apps I like and I hate to keep reinstalling them.
    T-Mobile BB Curve Titanium 8320
    v4.5.0.81 (platform 2.7.0.78
This occurs even with a fresh install of the default apps.
Pulling the battery requires a new install of the OS
BT doesn't matter as this occurs even with a fresh install with nothing else having been done to the device but pull the battery or let it die.
doesn't matter if the SIM is in or not
doesn't matter if the microSD card is in or not
    Replicate:
when the device is completely wiped and there is no OS, and the light flashes RED (5 times?)
reinstall the OS, accept the defaults
when completed then pull the battery
    screen goes black
    put battery back in
    begin loop
    screen remains black
    LED flashes RED (5 times?)
    screen remains black
    return
    end loop
rinse and repeat until you are tired of this game
anyone else have this issue or am I the only one with this advanced security feature?

I don't understand how this is any advanced security feature. Seems more like a problem.
I would recommend you upgrade the device to the latest 8320 OS release, the one you're using is quite out of date.
    1. Do a complete backup of the device if you can, using Desktop Manager.
    2. Wipe the device first (options > security > general settings > menu key > wipe handheld).
    3. upgrade. See the instructions in the link below for download link and instructions.

  • Wipe Problem

Would be great if someone could help me. The Wipe Mode on the Touchscreen doesn't work anymore. how can i fix this? I checked the synaptics configurations... Thank you!

ok there are two ways I know how to wipe
first is BBsak wipe handheld, this will delete everything including OS and will result to white screen and error 507.
Next is app loader wipe, which will just restore your phone to factory settings.
please provide more information on what you see when you turned your mobile on.

  • What to do when your address book disapears. For Blackberry Pearl.

I went nuts when this happened to me. Not that I didn't have a back-up, you should ALWAYS have a
back-up of all your info. I knew that all my contact info was still there, because when someone called or
when I called someone on my address book, all their information still came up on my phone. So I knew it
was all there, but when I went to the address book itself, there was nothing there, and it simply said there
were no contacts. I even added a new one, and that was not showing up in the address book either. VERY
frustrating. So I called My service provider and begged for help. Being a new black berry user, I didn't
know squat about what to do, and I couldn't find anything online that helped me to fix this problem. So, if
this happens to you, (which I am told it happens to people a lot), Here's what you do to fix it....
First you make sure you have a back-up copy of all your backberry info using your blackberry desk top
program. after that, make sure that you blackberry is disconnected from your computer. Then go to the
options on your main menu, click the trackball. Then go to the Security Options menu, click the trackball.
Select General Settings, click the trackball. Now press the balackberry menu key on the left of the
trackball. Select Wipe handheld, click the trackball. Ok, I know thes sounds a little scarry, but trust me it
will all be ok. Once it resets everything your pnone wont work and it is going to look like all your info is
gone, but that's ok. Now go through the setup wizard like you did when you first got your blackberry to set
it all up. you don't have to add in all your info or setup all your emails, you can re-enter all your info later,
and the emails will automatically be re-setup when we are all done. Now To get all your stuff back on the
phone, connect the blackberry up to your computer, and go to your blackberry desk top program. In the
desk top program, go to back-up and restore and restore your most recent back-up. Now click the
blackberry menu on the left of the trackball, select register now, click the trackball. Go to the options
menu, click the trackball. Go to advanced options, click the trackball. look on the next menu for Host
Routing Table, click the trackball.  Now with your blackberry dial *228 and select option (1), to get your
phone in service again.   Now go online and go to: (http://www.blackberry.com/go/vzw), make sure you
have your blackberry.com password and user name and your blackberry pin number. If the user name and
password you have do not work, than unfortunately you'll have to call your service provider to help you
with that. For Verizon, the number to call is: 1-800-922-0204. It's best if you do not call them from your
blackberry. Now what you want to make sure is that you have all your email passwords etc. Now from
here, you can either have your service provider send to your phone the Service Books, or you can just get
the info for the website I gave so that you can log onto it and send the Service Books to your blackberry
on your own. If you have your service provider help you, this is where you'll need your email passwords,
because before you send the Service Books to your blackberry you'll need to revalidate all your emails
accounts by clicking on the red symbol on the left, and it will ask for your passwords and take care of all
the rest. Once you have all your email accounts re-validated, then you can send the Service books to your
blackberry. You'll see the link on the left upper menu of the page that says Service Books, click on it and
wahlah.  Now give it about 15 seconds or so. go to your black berry. Turn it off, and back on again.
Now turn your blackberry off and on again. When it comes back on follow all the menu promptings etc.,
and bingo you got your address book back.

    Welcme to the Frums!
Sometimes when the address books disappear, a filter has gotten turned on.
Go to address book>> menu >>> filters >>> and make sure nothing is checked in either box.

  • FB, Opera all work but will NOT d/l - NO DATA PLAN

I got this phone second hand and so far Facebook, Viigo and Opera Mini all connect to the internet - and I don't have a data plan. The prob is that as soon as I try to download something through Opera (such as Google apps), it reverts back to the BB browser and gives this error msg:
"Exceeded maximum redirect attempts to server: http//m.web2go.com/upsell/?msisdn=17132053775&cp=200"
I had to download Opera to the PC first, but many apps don't have that option. Obviously something was done before I got the phone, but since I have some internet access, I'm reluctant to try anything unknowingly.
PLEASE let me know if theres is any other information I can provide that can be helpful, I'm just listing a few things here at random that I assume would be of use.
--> When I go into my BB browser, a page comes up saying that I do not have web2go plan. The odd thing is that its lists several sites like Facebook ESPN and CNN to try to sell me a plan, but like I stated above, my FB app already works.
--> APN: gprsinternet (wap.voicestream.com works too)
     APN username: t-mobile
APN password: ** (unknown - was already entered)
    -->Default browser config: t-zones
Default MDS browser config: Explorador de Internet (don't ask)
     Default WAP browser config: t-zones
-->Service Book has SEVERAL entries, here are some:
provisioning, WLM2.1, blackberry internet browsing service, BBFS2, WAP2, BBFS1, IPPP for BIBS, WAP2 BrowserConfig, WLM VPL, T-mobile USA WAP BrowserConfig
**Before everyone starts telling me to be careful about my internet usage and how I could end up with a huge bill, I just want to say thanks but I'm already aware. I have something called Blackberry Feature Enabler, and that allows for unlimited data usage, which I have already verified is working through my online account.

You must have a BlackBerry Data Plan to use the BlackBerry Facebook application.
Until now, your previous owners Service Book was on the device, and it has kept sending the notifications.
Do this on the device: Options > Security > Advanced > Menu key > Wipe Handheld and follow the prompts. This will clear your device of all the previous user's settings, messages, and data.

  • Synchronize with Outlook Problems...

I have a BB Curve, and MS Outlook with Windows XP on my desktop.  I no longer can synchronize my calendars between my BB and Outlook on my desktop...this used to work - but now when I try to synchronize, I get a message saying "unable to complete request".  All I am synchronizing is the calender (no contacts or anything else).  What can I try to do to fix this?
    Thanks.

First, Have you moved any information in Outlook from memos, contacts, tasks, calenders, or e-mails into another folder, or a personal folder?
    Solution Number 1
    1) Go to Backup and Restore in Desktop Manager.
    2) Backup your blackberry.  Save the file on your desktop (it will include the date in the file name)
    3) Wipe your blackberry, go to "options", then "security options", then "general settings" press the menu button, and then select "wipe handheld", click "continue" and enter "blackberry", let it wipe and restart.
    4) Before you restore the data, synchronize again with Desktop Manager.
    5)  If the synchronization works, then it may have been a virus that is now wiped out.
    6)  Restore data, open up desktop manager, go to Back Up and Restore and restore the file from the desktop.
    Solution Number 2
If this does not work I would suggest it is a problem with Desktop Manager.  In that case I would open up Desktop Manager and click on "Synchronize"  Click on "Configuration" and then "Configure Synchronization", then checkmark "address book," a window will pop open, select "Microsoft Outlook", now look at the folder name, Make sure that is the correct folder name and location.  Do that for Calender, Memopad, and tasks.  Then click "OK".  Go to "Synchronize", then click "Synchronize now"

  • Videos won't play since 4.5 upgrade???

I upgraded to 4.5 a few weeks ago (curve 8320 with T-Mobile) and any videos that I try to put on my phone now in WMV, AVI, etc format will not play.  Either I get a red error box saying the file is incompatible or it acts like it's going to play but it won't play.  I've never had to convert WMV before to play on the previous OS for the phone (4.2.2), they always played!  So I tried converting them with media manager, some still won't play and the ones that do have a black border around the video where almost 1/4 of the screen is blank with no video (and yes I have "full screen mode" selected).
What is the deal with video and 4.5?  What file formats works now?  I don't understand why they removed ability to play these formats.  Always gotta be a problem with everything these days...

Seems that something is wrong with your device OS.
Backup your sensitive data via BB Desktop Manager.
Try to wipe the memory: Options-> Security Options->General Settings
Open menu and select "Wipe handheld"

  • 8350i uncaught exception java.lang.NullPointerException after hard reset

    basic info:
    8350i
    v4.6.1.204 (Platform 3.0.0.73)
    Desktop Manager 4.7
everything is good except that i've been using two batteries, one in the phone and one in a charger. when the phone's battery is almost drained i swap it with the charged one which of course causes a hard reset.
this procedure was working well for at least a week or two until last month when i swapped batteries - after the hard reset i got
    uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException
i could make calls but all other software seemed corrupted... virtually nothing else worked... icons missing etc.
tried all sorts of solutions but the only thing that fixed it was a full on device software erase/reload, then a data restore from previous backup. at the time i figured it was just a random thing and was glad to learn how to do a complete software reload.
then yesterday it happened again (again, immediately at the end of the security check after hard reset). now i'm afraid to swap batteries because it would appear that every time i hard reset there is a 10% (my guess) chance of software corruption and a complete reload takes a significant amount of time.
has anybody else noticed this? does anybody have a solution?
can i swap batteries without a hard reset; i.e. swap while plugged into power? i haven't tried this yet for fear of causing my BB harm.
    any help is appreciated,
    john d.

    Hello, John.
Make selective backup as it is described here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=8100&view=by_date_ascending&message.i...
Backup only information that you need.
There is described the purpose of every database you can observe when you're doing the selective backup:

When you have done selective backup do the following.
On your device go to: Options - Security Options - General Settings
