Wipe harddisk with DBAN

Hi everybody,
I want to completely wipe my harddisk using DBAN 1.0.4. I already have burned the disk image on CD, and when booting from this CD DBAN seems to start normally. When I type in one of the methods given in the menu to start the process, it loads the kernel (at least that's what it says), but after about five seconds DBAN tells me that the whole process is finished. In reality nothing has happened at all.
My harddisk has three partitions. As I am not familiar with unix commands at all, my question is: Do I have to type in some path to tell DBAN which partition to erase? If so, what would this path be? Can't I simply wipe the entire harddisk?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks a lot in advance!
Daniel

I would just boot off of your iBook CD and go to the 'Apple' menu --> 'Disk Utility' --> 'Erase'. There is an option to wipe over your hard drive numerous times if your wanting to ensure that all private documents are gone. Disk Utility will also allow you to change the partitions if need be.

Is it possible to create a wip sample with inventory validity rule in the item Specification?
I have an item which is a wip (product) item and has validity rule defined for inventory. can i create a sample from the batch for it with inventory validity rule in the specification.
    Thanks in advance
    Prem.

    Hi Jay
    How are you.
    Yes, in process sampling only.
Is it not neccessary to have a wip validity rule for wip products in the specs. I am able to create samples for wip products with inventory validity rule.

  • Reinstalling vista recovery after erasing Hdd with DBan

Pavilion dv6707us notebook, Vista Home Premium 32bit
I erased the whole hardrive including the Recovery partition D with DBan.  Unfortunately the recovery discs i made will not restore Vista.  They work up to "Restoring factory settings".  Is there anyway to get this to work without the recovery partition D?  If I order the recovery discs from hp will they give me a full recovery or will I have the same problem without partition D?
    Thank you
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

recovery media ordered from HP has nothing to do with D partition. recovery media has complete OS, Driver and applications. this HP media deletes all the partitions and  restore the machine to factory settings (no data for sure).
if you are having difficulties using media created by you, please order one from HP.
    Hope it helps.

  • HT201263 i forgot my passcode and can't use the normal recovery methods because i can't shut off find my i phone as i don't have wifi turned on to wipe it with i cloud and when i do a recovery mode it simply locks back up.

find my i phone is turned on and my wifi is shut off so i cant wipe it with icloud.
when i do recovery mode it just locks back up.

If you have forgotten the passcode for the lock screen, connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to set up a new code during this process. Check this article about it:

  • Backup timecapsule itself with an external harddisk with usb

I want to make a backup of the timecapsule with an external harddisk with an usb

Make sure that the USB drive is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then connect it to the USB port on the Time Capsule.
On your Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
    Click the Disks icon
Click the Disks tab below the icon
    Click Archive
Allow plenty of time for the backp to occur since all of your backup history will be archived. Normal Time Machine backups will not occur during the archive process.

  • Replace harddisk with larger capacity

My NMH405 now runs with two 500GB disks in RAID1. I want upgrade both disks to 1T (or maybe 2T). Please advise if the following steps make sense:
    1) power off NMH.
    2) replace slot B with a larger capacity disk (i.e. slot A = 500G, slot B = 1T).
    3) power up NMH and rebuild RAID1. I guess the total capacity still remains as 500G, right?
    4) power off NMH.
    5) replace slot A with a larger capacity disk (i.e. slot A = 1T, slot B = 1T).
    6) power up NMH and rebuild RAID1.
Now does the capacity remain as 500G or 1T? Or it doesn't work?
    Thanks.
    cs

I just got off the call with Cisco support Singapore. This guy Eric was very patient with my questions about replacing the harddisk with larger capacity. He went away to check the documentation and called me back after 30mins with the steps - start with replacing slot B with 1T, let it rebuild, and then replace slot A, and let it rebuild. It will then be 1T RAID1.

  • Incompatible SATA harddisk with PowerMacG5

    Hi..
I bought a new Power Mac G5(Dual Core 2.5 GHz) with 250GB Serial ATA hard disk(pre-installed).
But the system is not at all stable and showing problems from the beginning itself. Its frequently hangs when boot up,when contacted the supplier, they replaced the system, but the problem remains.
I tried many things like migrated to Adobe CS2,used less fonts.
The latest problem is that it fails to mount the harddisk. When I opened the case,it was a Western Digital SATA harddisk with 250GB capacity, when I visited the Western Digital's Website,
its clearly mentioned that that type of hard disk is not compatible with the OS X or OS 9. Then how comes I get the System like this with incompatable hard disk preinstalled..?
Please visit western Digital's website for the more informations
    http://www.wdc.com/en/products/resources/DriveCompatibilityguide.asp
    Thanks & Regards

    Dear Sir,
    Thanks for the reply.
I dont feel its a refurbished machine..Its taken from an apple reseller only..I formatted the harddisk twice or thrice to reinstall the OS.But it will work for one day,and it will show the problem again.
about Western Digital HDD..Their site tells the incompatability..
Let me quote from the site
Which internal drive is compatible with my operating system: SATA or EIDE?
Your operating system, as well as your hardware, must support the hard drive you choose:
Operating System WD SATA Hard Drive Compatibility WD EIDE Hard Drive Compatibility
Windows® 2000 or XP Yes Yes
    Windows 98SE No Yes
    Windows 98 No Yes
    Mac® OS X No Yes
    Mac OS 9.x No Yes
Note: Compatibility may vary depending on user's hardware configuration and operating system.
Its clearly mentioned that OSX will support IDE hardisk but not SATA
    Thanks & Regards

  • WIP Scheduling with Material Constraint

    Hi all,
Does anybody know how Material Constraint works in WIP Scheduling?
I mean,...Does it use an ATP Rule in order to calculate the availavility of the component? or Is it using a diferent way to calculate it?
    Thanks a Lot.

    Hi
As Per my knowledge there is No Table where you can get all the details "(WIP amount with the GL account with Material number details ). To get the above details as a work around you can add two Table MSPR & BSIS Tables. MSPR -Project stock , in this table you will get Material Number ,Plant wise ,stor.location wise and the WBS Element details. in BSIS You would get WBS Element Details and GL Account,
in SQVI Take WBS Element as a common Field in two tables. by this you will get the details as required by you ..
Hope this wil hlep you .
    Thanks

  • Wipe drive with Lion or Mavericks?

I have a Macbook Pro that I want to securely wipe. It is currently running Lion. Is there any benefit to downloading Mavericks first and then wiping it or should I just go ahead and wipe it with Lion OS?
    Thanks.

1.) Can I wipe it straight from Disk Utility, or do I need the disc or USB with the Lion OS connected in order to secure wipe the drive?
2.) What happens after it is completely wiped? How can I put Mavericks on it?
    Thanks.

  • BAPI for Posting the WIP document with respect to profit center

    Hi All,
as per the SAP standards SAP posts the WIP revaluation to the profit center of the subcomponents instead of profit center of the manufactured material..
But now i have write a logic to  make correcting entries for WIP revaluation to the Profit Center of the Manufactured Product.
I have to  Post an accounting document with the adjustment posting (Revaluation Document) as of the last day of the Period.
If the Revaluation Amount is POSITIVE, the DEBIT is to Profit Center of the Manufactured Material and CREDIT is to the Profit Center of Subcomponent Material/ Activity.
If the Revaluation Amount is NEGATIVE, the CREDIT is to Profit Center of the Manufactured Material and DEBIT is to the Profit Center of Subcomponent Material/ Activity.
Can any one suggest me the  Function module which available to post the this type of document ?
    Regards,
    Praveen

    Hi Ajit,
My requirement is to get the total of GL balances for the respective profit center.
But in Report i didn't found profit center parameter.
    Thanks

  • Opening pdf from harddisk with link

Can i set a link to a pdf-file on my harddisk in my keynote presentation? or to another document?
I am sure this question has been answered a thousand times, but i couldnt find it. sorry.

No, you can't. Well, I should say not in an easy user friendly way. Keynote allows you to link via http: which then opens Safari so if you turn on web sharing, point the http: link to localhost and your sites directory and place a file there then Safari would pop up, download the file then Preview would pop up and....
whew! This IS easier in PowerPoint because it allows direct linking to documents, Keynote doesn't. You CAN have the pdf's already open before starting your presentation and then view them that way. A little more elegant than the above.
Another question, is this meant to be a kiosk type thing for people to play around with or are you using the PDF in the presentation?

  • Make to order WIP calculation with minus WIP

    Dear Grus!
I'm in the make to order senario ,and using actual cost in WIP calculation.
finished goods using standard cost valuation.
    Input 1000, output ( 100 USD *15EA), wip qty is 5EA.
now WIP become minus, so system generates error message.
How I should configure in a correct way?
    Thank you ~
    Lynn

    Thanks for your answers,
    The message number is
Plan cost <= actual cost. Cannot use method of apportionment (K,R)
    Message no. KJ228
Sum across all apportionment numbers = 0. Cannot use MOA (K,R)

MOA for reserves for unrealized costs in period 005 2009 was changed
    Message no. KJ221
Negative wip indicatest that 1) you are not finished with the order and 2) at the WIP point in time, more value has been credited to the order that was issued to the order.
This could be due to failed goods movements or incomplete confirmations, out of date cost estimates, etc.
and standard cost is a little bit high, so the WIP balance is minus.

  • CC Image wipe starts with ghost/negative image from previous image

I have several images wiping onto a screen side by side, one after the other. However after the first image appears, the ghost of that image appears as I start each following wipe. This happens continually throughout all subsequent images.
Here's an image of the weirdness.
You can see that the third image on the right is displaying the ghost/negative image of the first image in the sequence. it apears initially then disappears and the wipe completes normally.
Maybe the church image is haunted... I don't know.
    Help anyone?

This is the effects panel of the church image.
This is the next image to wipe on, and is also the next layer up on the timeline.
    Thanks for the help!
