Wipe iphone3

I'd like to wipe my iphone3 and turn it into an ipod touch for my daughter?  Can someone tell me now to do this?

See if this helps...
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Then restart the iPhone.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that didn't help, try here >  iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
And make sure the battery is charged.

  • How to unlock iphone3 forgot pass code

my iphone3  is locked and i can get calls but cant unlock it to make a call. how do i get it unlocked?

Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, leave the other end connected to your Mac/PC
    Launch iTunes
Press and hold the Home and Power button on the top of the iPhone to turn off the device
Press and continue to hold the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to your iPhone, this will cause the iPhone to turn on
Continue to hold the Home button until an alert message in iTunes appears that an iPhone in recovery mode has been detected
Now that the iPhone is in recovery mode, you must restore the device:
From iTunes, look under the “Summary” tab
Click on the “Restore” button within iTunes
This will wipe all files, settings, and apps from the iPhone, including the passcode. When the restore is finished, the iPhone will be at the factory settings. At this point you can choose to start from scratch or to restore the iPhone from a backup.

  • How do I download an OS (Lion) for a used-IMac that's had a complete memory wipe?

I just recently bought a used-Imac (only 5 months old) from a friend of mine which he did a complete memory wipe on the computer. Operating System and all. He had Mountain Lion which is the operating system the computer is asking me to reinstall but I can't because my apple I.D. never purchased Mountain Lion. He told me that he got it illegally which I didn't care too much for. I know the OS is only $20 which I would gladly pay for but the problem is that I have to have OS X v10.7 Lion to be able to download it. I tried downloading a version of it but it had said that I didn't have enough space on my disc for it? By the way, did I mention that nearly all memory was wiped away from the computer. I had 230-something gigabytes on my computer so this didn't make any sense to me as to why it couldn't download 10.7 Lion. Can anyone help me on this?

You only need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 in order to download Mountain Lion.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

  • Getting a new Mac: need to transfer files/applications, have external hard drive, and wipe clean old Mac to give to family member

Getting a new Mac this Christmas. I have several questions:
    1. How do I transfer files/applications from old to new?
    2. I have an external hard drive, do I need to save iTunes account to it?
    3. How do I wipe the old Mac clean to give to family member?

    1. Use the Migration Assistant the first time you turn on the new computer.
    2. No, but you should do so as a backup.
    3. Click here and follow the instructions. If the computer originally shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, when you reach step 5, insert its original disk, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.

iPhones require a SIM for activation.
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore via iTunes.

  • Macbook Pro remote desktop unable to connect to my office PC. Genius Bar told me the only solution was to wipe my Mac. Really??

I work remotely using my Macbook Pro (OS X 10.5.8) to connect to my office PC. I have always had issues using my "computer name" with the RDC but have no problem when using the IP address. Two weeks ago my company upgraded their server and ever since I have been unable to access the server. My coworkers (who use Macs) are not having the same problems as me. My IT guy was able to connect using my Mac, his security clearance and IP address. However, I no longer have the option of using the IP address to log in - per my IT guy. My IT guy is a PC guy so he suggested that I take my computer to Apple to see whats blocking me.
I met with Apple support at the Genius bar yesterday and was told basically it could be a problem with my computer and I needed to wipe it clean and start over. This was the proposed solution to the problem but the Mac guy I spoke with didn't seem completely sure this would solve / is the cause of the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions for figuring out what the root problem is prior to me wiping my Mac? Has anyone had issues working with remote desktop connection from their Mac connecting to a PC?
    I appreciate any help possible!

There are no songs on your iPod, right (since it was restored)?
Make sure the software on your computer is up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Update iPod's Software
Also, try connecting the iPod via a different USB port.
You may want to try putting the iPod in Disk Mode prior to connecting it and see if you are able to restore it (while it is in Disk Mode)...
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode
Finally, if you can't get the iPod to restore, then try connecting it and opening My Computer. Does the iPod show up in My Computer? Try right clicking it and going to Format. Does anything happen?

If I uninstall the student edition and reinstall once the virus is removed from the computer will I have to go through the student product verification process or can I simply use the product key to reinstall the adobe suite?

  • Need help restoring data after security wipe - Urgent!

    Hello,
I am in need of urgent help.
I had saved some really important information in the memos of my blackberry curve 8520. After that I changed my phone to a non-blackberry phone. but I still had the old phone but it was kept off most of the time. I had backups from June 13, 2013. very recently I wiped the phone. (Very big mistake) Now I am in need of that information that I had saved in the memos. Now when I visit the blackberry protect website through my laptop it shows that the back up is there with 15 memos and many other things. but when I open the app of blackberry protect on my phone it shows that there are no previous versions of backup available to restore.
Now please tell me and help with this. I badly need the information that I have stored in the memos of this earlier back up version.
Another thing I have noticed is that there is a problem in the link between BB Protect website and the BB Protect app on my phone. For example, if I click on "Play Sound" or "Display a message" on the BB Protect website, it tries to communicate with the device and then waits for the device to respond and then it fails to do the function clicked.

    Hello,
Please check very very very very (did I say that enough?) carefully that you are using the exact same BBID credentials on your new BB that you are logging into via PC.
If they are not the same, then that explains why it cannot present you with those backups on the device...they are associated to a different BBID than you are using on your BB now. To change your BB over to the BBID that contains the backups you require, you must WIPE the BB:
KB26694 How to change the BlackBerry ID on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry smartphone
However, be very careful when you then associate the BB to that other BBID...done incorrectly, you can lose your prior backups...refer:
KB31489 BlackBerry Protect for BlackBerry smartphones does not display any backup files to restore
Then again, if you are using the exact same BBID on both the device as well as via PC/browser, then the method discussed in KB31489 may already have been done incorrectly, wiping out those prior backups (and there is no way to retrieve them).
Good luck and let us know!

  • How do I use the remote wipe feature for file vault 2 / lion?

I tried to find a preference panel. I know that for the ios you have to link/setup your device. I tried the find my iphone web site to see if my computer was listed there and it isn't at the moment. Is this new lion feature only available later with icloud? I checked the lion feature page and it lists it with file vault 2 with no asterisk so my guess is it should already now work.
It would be a pity to think you've setup your computer to find out that you hadn't "activated" your computer/laptop
    Thanks,
    Phillyman

    Hi,
I'm out of the country on business but probably the only way to figure this out is to call apple or drop by their retail stores. If no one figures this out (and I'm pretty sure there is nothing to figure out at this time). I'll try to call apple when I'm back in august.
I find it wrong that apple touts this as a feature with no disclaimer. I'm a loyal mac fan for twenty years so I'll continue to buy their prodcuts and I did buy lion the day it came out. BUT a disclaimer (as they have done in the past) would have been nice. I know of at least two mac users who usually don't buy new OS's until they get it with their new laptops that specifically bought lion for this feature since they had read about it in a newspaper article.
I also thought this was one of the more useful features in lion since my family already "lost" an iPad and we liked to delete our data after our alarm and message didn't work for a day.
I'm sure  apple has it's reasons for not offering the feature just yet but in that case a disclaimer is a must. I would probably drop the reference remote wipe until I have the infrastructure in place.
    Cheers,
    Phillyman

iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

    How crap is that?
    It's not crap at all.
It's not that simple. For example, I've 3500 songs on my MacBook but don't want them all on my phone, so I have to manually select each song again???
There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?
and maintain a current backup of your computer.
