Wire broken inside PowerBook G4, what wire is it?

Okay so... My Uncle received a PowerBook G4 Pro 17 Inch from His Brother.
When he got it, he said it had a ugly looking blue apple at the top left, so I was like okay.... it had OS X Tiger.
He said it would boot fine, some times it would take a while for the screen to show up after you hear the noise in the beginning, but it would boot fine. The problem was that it would boot, log him in, but then crash and freeze etc...
So... he told me he decided to "scrap" it, and instantly my mouth was like , I was in shock.
After I opened, and inspected it, my results were this:
The Battery Chord was Cut (with scissors)
He took the RAM (and threw it away)
and just unplugged to 250GB HDD (I was so happy when he didn't break that too)
So my questions are this:
1.) What is this wire to?
As you can see in the pics below, if you take out the battery, and unscrew the other thing, that's where it would attach too.
In the second pic, it shows where it is on the Board itself. If you take off the Keyboard, it's in the top left near the speaker, then that goes to the slot near the battery.
Hopefully someone can explain what that is and where I can buy it.
2.) Will the Mac Start without RAM?
That's about it.
Hopefully someone can answer my questions.
Thanks,
Eric.

1) You  might look at some of the assembly guides at http://www.ifixit.com/Browse/PowerBook_G4_Aluminum to see what that is.
2) The mac will not start without RAM. With Tiger, you need at least 256MB, and more is better, like 512MB or 1GB.  Recommend Crucial at http://www.crucial.com or memory from OWC at http://www.macsales.com . Crucial warranties their memory for life, has free shipping in the US, and you can usually find a 5% off coupon on retailmenot.com.

  • Somw thing lose or broken inside iphone 5

    i bought my iphone 5 in 8/2/2013
    guaranteed from apple
    i bought from vodafone egypt
and i noticed that there is some thing lose inside iphone  in  camer side   undercamer like small pice is broken inside i tried to press all keys to check if is the sound of broken thing from the keys but it is not
It rattles whenever i put  the phone down or pick it up, also if you shake it lightly
people how sell guaranteed  iphones told me that its not normal
and  when i watched other mobiles iphone 5 i  noticed there is no some thing loose inside our rattles
when i went to vodafone and showed them the phone they told me that normal
how its normal when other devices dont have my problem
how come apple device have something broken inside is it normal
they do not want to repair it our replace they afraid that if they replaced the iphone that apple refuse to replace and they well pay to cost of the new device
in the end they told me they dont have  solution  and
the solution  is to contact apple and say my problem and get the confirmation code to replace
i need help the phone dont have any   scratched  like new

You will not. What intrinsic value does your broken phone have? Why do you think that they will take it in and if you pay the difference you will get a new phone?
So you crash your car, and you take it in to the dealer and "offer to pay the difference"  in order to "swap
the crashed car for a new car, what do you think the dealer's response will be?

  • Horrible scraping noise inside Powerbook 17"

Have sudden grief with my 17" G4 Powerbook (OSX 10.4.7, bought May 2004). Never had a single problem before.
May be just coincidence but I bought the elgato eyeTV hybrid today and popped it on. Worked OK, no probs. But then tried it in home TV aerial to get clean signal and worked a treat. Noticed slight squeaking sound from inside Powerbook at one point but seemed OK.
Then after about an hour, screen went black and really bad scraping noise coming from inside Powerbook, to left, about where the bottom left key on the keyboard is. Sounds like a misaligned drive head or similar but quite loud and bad sounding.
Did usual starting up holding down keys, no joy. Put in DiskWaririor CD and tried to start from there, holding down C, but bit of spinning CD sound but no more.
Sometimes getting as far as the big apple symbol and then freezing on a jagged interference line across middle of screen.
Other times old-fashioned-looking apple folder come up with question mark in it.
    Any thoughts?

    Hello,
Sorry for piling on to this thread but I am having exactly the same problem, although I would describe the sound as similar to what you hear when your fan belt is too loose. I agree however it is a horrible sound.
The sound changes and will even stop if I lift my PB up and hold it at differnt angles. It is certainly coming from the HD as I can feel it under my palm. I have backed up (although my computer is still running fine) and am looking to buy a replacement hard drive.
So my question is whether there is there a "motor" that is separate from the HD that may be the problem? or will replacing the HD also replace any "motor"?
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

  • Dynamically called VI becomes broken inside an executable. Error 1003 from "Open VI Reference".

Here's the problem. Dynamically called VI becomes broken inside an executable in debug executable mode Error 1003 is occuring from "Open VI Reference" Block. The computer has all of the necessary drivers, NI-VISA and NI-DAQmx. This executable is a new release of software that currently works on the PC in question. I can using NI-VISA Remote Server control the instruments from my PC using the executable. But when I put the executable on the PC I am getting this error. The only way I have been able to get this to work properly is to build the executable from the console I believe the project was created in, note that the project file has been moved to a network drive and it still works. All of the stations I have opened the project in show the VI that is being called is runnable. I've tried building the executable from the console I am deploying to and the same thing happens.
I am honestly at a loss for ideas why this is occuring. Is this something about the way LabView works internally that may be causing this problem?
I have trolled this forum for idea's and none have made sense to me.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    -Nate

    Two ideas:
Mass compile the project to ensure all linkages are ironed out
Include the dynamically launched VI's into the "Always Included" section of the build spec
Report back on if either of these actions solves your problem.

hi guys my headphone tip was broken inside my ipad 2 how can i get it out

Try tweezers or needle nose pliers. If these don't work, make an appointment at an Apple Store. I don't know if they will charge anything for thistle of service.

  • MacBook Pro 15" Retina display was broken inside

My daughter has a MBP15" with retina display and she found retina display broken on the left bottom area inside without any damage of outside screen surface.
It looks like several burnts inside.
And she went to Apple store, but store employee told her that it was caused by my daughter's fault like inserted a kind of hard material and closed the display. So they asked almost > $700 to replace it.
So I am wondering how come a hard material made internal damage only without any minor scratch or crack outside???
Does anybody have any idea about this?

it could have been done by putting pressure on the top of the mac with it closed and no scratches or cracks would necessarily show up.  I would ask your daughter again what happened.  This  isn't a manfacturer defect and is not covered under warranty.

  • SIM CARD TRAY BROKEN INSIDE IPHONE

Ok, here's the problem, I took out my sim card tray to try a new sim. However I managed to put the tray back in the wrong way. I managed to get the tray back out about a third of the way and remove the sim but then the tray broke. My phone is no longer under warranty so should I just remove the back casing and get the broken tray out or send it off for repair? I watched a few videos on youtube so getting the back off doesnt seem a problem I just don't want to damage any electronics inside. (WHY BUILD A SIM TRAY SO FLIMSY IN THE FIRST PLACE???)
Any help much appreciated. I live in the UK so how much would a repair like this cost?

You could try making an appointment at an Apple store, the geniuses have tools to get the sim try out without damage...I know you're out of warranty, but if you're nice, you never know, they just might do it for you. Otherwise, google third party repair services in your area...unless you're skilled at working with micro electronics don't mess with it yourself.

  • Why we cannot commit inside BAPI and what if we call workflow inside BAPI?

    hi,
can anyone tell me why we cannot use Commit statement inside BAPI ?
Also what if in my BAPI ,i have triggered my workflow and through that can i commit??
    Regards,
    Mayank

    Hi,
it is a part of the BAPI programming model that BAPIs use a certain transaction model. This transaction model says that one BAPI has to follow the so called ACID (atomar, consistent, isolated, durable) principle. To ensure that a BAPI is atomar you cannot put a commit work just anywhere in mid of a BAPI as this would violate the modell. Furthermore BAPIs shall allow external commit handling that means it has to be possible to include several BAPI calls in one LUW. For this there are BAPIs which are only for committing or rolling back a transaction. For more detailed information you can check as usual the SAP help [click me|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/a5/3ec8654ac011d1894e0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm]
If would suppose that when you throw a workflow event it is triggered once the LUW is closed. At least SAP should work that way. But I have to admit in newer ABAP OO developments SAP often just calls the Event raising function module with the option to not wait for the DB commit. Seems there are some problems with the newer LUW concepts / OO and the old workflow technology. This can lead in worst case to events raised for objects which were rolled back later but SAP seems to accept that so it is in my oppinion an acceptable solution.
    Hope that helps a bit

  • Earphone jack tip got stucked inside port. What should I do?

Something happened to my earphones that the tip hot stucked inside the port. I tried to take it out but i could not. So what should I do? I'm so sad right now!

Did the tip snap off inside or is it still attached to the headphones?  If it snapped off, you may try tweezers to remove it.  If you can't get it out, a trip to your local Apple retail store or AASP will be in order.

  • I have an ancient (2005) PowerBook G4. What do I do with it? Are there any organizations that would like it?

I have a 2005 Powerbook G4. It turns on but is very slow. I had upgraded the memory some 3 years ago. The powerchord works but is in rough shape. It also has to be plugged in at all times -- battery is completely dead. Is my only option to recycle it? I hate to just toss it, but I am really not sure what else I can do with it!!

There are actually people who still want these newer PowerPC-based Macs.  Some people might call the last G4/G5 Macs slow today, but with minor upgrades and optimization of the OS, these PowerBooks can be pretty speedy.  You can even use Safari extensions if you have the latest version of Safari on 10.5.8 and completely nullify flash on YouTube and play videos pretty decently at 360-480p.
If you don't have anything to do with it, I would list it on eBay.  I don't know what the screen size of yours is, but the 12" models are very desirable for whatever odd reason.  I just paid $71 for 12" PowerBook G4 early 2005 in good shape, and that is cheap!  They usually go for around $120 working.
The 15" and 17" models go for less, especially the very first or very last revisions of them, as the first ones are fairly slow and the last ones had that problem with the sleep sensor.
If you want to keep it, I would find a way to install an SSD.  SSDs really pep up these older machines along with maxing out the RAM.
