Wire Removal with Moving Camera

Hi Guys,
I'm working on this movie for a project and was really hoping for some VFX advice. It would really help me out.
We have this one shot (you can see in the video below) where the camera is tracking from left to right and an actor gets pulled with a rope out of the scene. Now we didn't have a track for the camera so it was handheld.
I tried to do the same path for a clean plate, but it looks slightly different perspective wise (maybe a step closer).
Anyways, so I am trying to remove the rope from the shot. If you'd like you can take a loot at the video of the 2 shots.
http://www.vimeo.com/29628208
What would be your plan of action to do this?
I've tried tried line up some of the lean plate footage by eye frame by frame but when it's played back it kinda jumps around and is noticeable.
I would greatly appreciate some wisdom and approaches to take.
Tools I have are After Effects, Mocha, Photoshop
Thanks guys,
Tyler

The first thing you need to do is to track the footage with the rope and stabilize the part that has the rope in the shot. You want to eliminate the movement as much as possible. Then you'll mask out just the area that has the rope and run your wire removal there. There should be enough good background material to successfully remove the rope. What looks funky can be corrected with the clone stamp.  Once you're done, you just put the movement back in the shot. If you want to try and use the clean plate you'll have to stabilize and probably time-remap that shot also to get it to match up.
There are a bunch of tutorials on stabilizing footage. I'd start there.
The next time you try and shoot something like this lock off the camera. Your clean plate must match within milimeters and within hundredths of a second to get it to work as a replacement. If your camera isn't on a dolly it's nearly impossible to line up a clean plate in post.

  • Stabilizing Motion With Moving Camera Shot

I was given a shot of a camera moving down a hallway. The hallway looks great, but there was so much broken glass and other debris on the floor that the shot looks very shaky and unstable.
Can AE CS5 do anything to help me stabilize the shot? (I can't imagine I'd be able to stabilize it the usual way, since the camera is moving, and a fixed object won't be available.)
    Thanks!

You may also try proDAD Mercalli plug-in...
Must have in my humble opinion...

  • How do I move photos around that I took with the camera?

Alright I have a bunch of photos in the "Camera Roll" that I took with the camera phone.
It defaults to the Camera Roll folder, but how do I move them to other folders on the phone?
Can I do multiple pictures at once?
Or do they have to be moved one by one?

If you disabled the Camera & Scanner Wizard from launching automatically when a digital camera is connected - when your iPhone includes photos that were captured by your iPhone or when photos are available in your iPhone's Camera Roll, the iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer - you can try this.

  • Is there a known problem with some cameras, e.g. the E-410?

I bought an Olympus E-410 yesterday, took a few pictures, and then wanted to load them onto my eMac. But the computer never saw the camera. The screen on the camera said "One moment" forever. I had installed the software that came with the camera, but that said "When iPhoto comes up close it and open [the Olympus software]".
I installed it on my Windows machine, and it saw the camera as an installed device, and the Olympus software worked fine, with the same cable.
I would have expected it to work because it is explicitly mentioned here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306297
We regularly add pictures from my wife's Canon Powershot A80, into iPhoto, and it works fine.
    Any helpful ideas?

No! I was wrong. My iPod showed the same symptom. The common denominator is that the Maxtor was plugged in at the same time. I had no problem with the new camera today, after removing the Maxtor's USB.
That's a relief, but not perfect. I guess I should have got a Firewire HDD

  • Terrible customer service, and no help with defective camera

    Madams and Sirs,
This camera (see below) was a Christmas present, and we discovered first last week that it had a manufacturing defect. (one of the small tabs holding the case half together got installed in a pinched way.)
Best Buy has always had fantastic customer service, and we have been very happy. We have spend many thousand dollars in your store every year. So we were sure the store would have a solution.
We took it in to your store #1423 on Curtner in San Jose to try to exchange or replace under warranty.
I understand you sometimes you are not able to help a customer, but this email is first about the shock I got when I spoke with Megan in customer service.
As many customers in Silicon Valley, I am an engineering manager, and we have performed destructive testing on many of our own products. The defect on this camera is obviously a manufacturing defect, and not possible to be caused by poor handling. This is very obvious.
Megan told me with other employees as well as my son listening next to me that I was a liar, and that the damage was caused by abuse, and not a defect. I tried to explain that was not possible, and she interrupted me, and again said that i was not telling the truth, and that the assembly error was caused by us.
I then asked if it was possible to have the matter reviewed by the store manager, and she responded she was the store manager.
I left with the camera, and the matter unresolved, and had to explain to my son that I was not a liar, and that Megan must be wrong and "some people just have a bad day sometimes".
I will not be spoken to with insults like that, and I can no longer go to your store with my kids, and if my employees treated any customer the way Megan did, I would make sure she received training to correct this. If the store manager have this attitude to customers, the entire organisation usually follows, and I will not be a customer in a store like that.

    Hello erikev,
Cameras are nice to have, especially with young children, so I can imagine how frustrating it can be to find yourself with a pinched casing. When something goes wrong, it’s never a fun situation, and while it may not be something we can necessarily help with, great customer service should still be provided. It sounds like this didn’t happen the way we hoped, and I’m sorry this was at your expense.
As this situation is definitely concerning, I looked into your account to see how I might be able to assist. However, I have found your concerns have reached Terrance with our executive support team. He is currently looking into your situation and should contact you once more information is available. From here, Terrance will be your first point of contact.
Hopefully he can find a good resolution for you,

See this article: iPad: Using the iPad Camera Connection Kit
No, this canot be done, afaik. When your camera or card is connected, you will see the thumbnails in the camera pane, but not full size preview. So to browse your photos on the iPad you will need to import them to your camera roll. But you need not delete them from the camera or card after importing, so you might simply import selected photos to your camera roll from the camera grid and then delete them again from the camera roll after importing and browsing, without removing them from the card/camera.

  • Anyone had issue with ipadair camera?

The image looks grainy and photos are not clear. I have updated to all latest updates...Any suggestions?

    Hi Partha,
Take a look at the camera troubleshooting suggestions in this iPhone article, it has a bunch of great tips that will work for all iOS devices.

Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • CC Simple Wire Removal Dead?

I recently opened one of my projects to find that any layer upon which CC Simple Wire Removal is used displays and renders as pure black. I went straight to the Adobe forums and found this thread full of users having the same experience: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4895694
So, many people with many different configurations are seeing this problem: black (or purple) frames on any layer that uses CC Simple Wire Removal.
My problem is I have a heck of a lot of work done on this project with CC Simple Wire Removal, and I need to finish it and get it rendered!
I've contacted CycoreFX, as some users suggest, but received no reply. I tried telephoning but the line appears to be defunct.
Others suggest reinstalling the Cycore plug-ins from the installation CS6 disk image, or from CS5.5. Since I installed Creative Cloud fresh on this machine via Internet I have no disk images, and no 5.5.
I would appreciate any advice on how to reinstall the Cycore plugins on a Mac running CS6 (11.0.2.11), installed via Cloud. Thank you in advance.

Adobe After Effects CS6 (11.0.3) has been released. This update fixes many crashes and other bugs, including this issue with the CC Simple Wire Removal effect.
    Details: http://adobe.ly/AE_CS6_1103
Also, this fix is in After Effects CC (12.0).

  • Acquire with two camera's to one image??

    Here is my configuration:
    Windows 2000
    PII 866
    512mb ram
    1) Imaq PCI-1409
    1) Imaq-A6822
    2) JAI CV-M50 camera's
    2) Pentex C60607 lens'
I would like to snap an image with both cameras and combine the two to make one image. The part will not be moving and time is not critical. The camera's will be mounted 3.8' above the part which will give me about a 3' square area for each camera. So basically I would like to end up with one image approx. 3' X 6'. How is the best way to go about doing this? Or is it even possible?

It all depends on how accurately you want the images to be joined.
If you just want to display them as a single image, it is very easy. IMAQ ImageToImage will paste one image into another.
If you want to seamlessly join them together, and do it accurately enough for measurements or feature detection, it is a lot more difficult. It is impossible to rotate and align the cameras so that two images can be pasted together accurately without manipulation of the images. You will need some mapping tools and figure out how to rotate and align the second image with the first. You will need a small portion of the images to overlap so they can be matched up. You may need to map both images to eliminate distortion first. If your part has a noticeable thickness
variations, you will get different perspectives for the two images.

  • How can i make trigger with basler camera GIGE 659x494 - 70 FPS and I/O terminal block

    Hi all,
How can i make trigger with basler camera GIGE 659x494 - 70 FPS and I/O terminal block

    Frank,
If you are wiring an isolated power output to the EVS you will need to apply a power supply to the terminal block.  This is mentioned in the "wiring isolated power output" section of the EVS getting started guide located here.  The guide references the EVS user manual which provides a pinout of the d-ub connector in table 2-11 of the manual located here.  For more information on the camera settings you need to set on the Basler camera please see the user manual of the camera you refrenced here.
To provide power to the camera you can purchase a power cable for the camera.  Rather than a power cable, since you want to also do triggering, you will want a Trigger and I/O Cable instead which is part number 779985-01 as seen on this product page.  The I/O cable would allow you to wire the trigger lines to the terminal block as well as the power lines.

  • Importing a filmstrip into PPro, or wire removal

Hi folks. I've just got around to re-editing a short film I made some years ago. It was shot in Panasonic P2 medium high-def (1280x720), but was originally edited in standard-def. I now have the opportunity to re-edit in the native source format. So far, so good, and nearly everything has imported from the old PPro 2 project - I've spent the day re-linking clips to the media files and it looks pretty good.
There was a "flying" stunt in the film done with harnesses and wires strung between trees in the forest where the story took place. In the original edit, I exported these sequences to a photoshop filmstrip format and painted out the wires, then re-imported the filmstrip back into the project.
PPro CS6 doesn't want to co-operate. When was the .flm format dropped as an import feature?
Is there a plug-in to allow this filmstrip to be imported, or am I going to do the wire removal again? I don't mind removing wires again - it'll probably look much better considering the original export/import was standard-def, but I still need to see the exact edit in and out points of the original footage if possible.
    cheers

Not sure what you mean. You can import video into I Movie either via your USB slot if it is already in digital format or via your fire wire slot (you may need an adapter as the MAC slot is a mini slot, the adapters are available on line) if you are coming from tape based media.

    Hi,
    Thanks for reply
actually I am using Diadem to interface Basler camra . it is a type of camera which directly connects to the computer via ethernet interface and sends us the streaming video which can be viewed using pylon viewer . There is  an example in the file SafetyTest.tdm in which  the file is located in " C:\Program Files\National Instruments\DIAdem 2011\Examples\Data"  in which a video is synchronized with the crash analysys data .
Actually in this example we browse the video and load the data . instead of loading the video file is it possible can i directly stream the video on the view area of the diadem
The Basler camera uses ethernet port of the PC for interfaceit directly streams video to pylon viewer(it is a GUI which comes with the camera)

  • Communication error with Canon camera

I've been using the same camera for 2 years with no problems.  It has been saying communication error when I plug it into my Mac recently.  I sent the camera in for service and was told it works fine and they said my computer is the issue.  I also bought a new cord.  Same error message....Please help!  Keep in mind with your response that I'm a computer moron and you will have to dumb it down for me :}  It works fine when I remove the memory card and put it in the back of the Mac.

  • How to keep green screen effect in one place while moving camera?

Hello all. I have been trying to use a green screen while moving the camera in Final Cut Pro X however I am running into a problem. Basically when I move the Camera all of the effects on the green screen move with a camera. Is there a way to make them stay in one place as the camera moves from side to side? The following video shows what I am talking about more clearly.
