Wired Bridge from Actiontec to Airport Express

I've seen numerous posts on setting up the Airport Express to act as a wireless bridge with Verizon's Actiontec router. But I want to bridge the Airport Express to the Actiontec over ethernet so the Airport is the sole wireless source. I can't quite find instructions for this.
Here are instructions for doing this with the Actiontec from DSL Reports, but they are not specific to the Airport Express. Can someone explain to me how to make the appropriate reconfigurations to the Airport Express?
1. Reconfigure your old router to disable their DHCP functions and re-assign their LAN ports to | 192.168.0.2 | 192.168.0.3 | 192.168.0.4 | and so on. We're assuming you will leave your Verizon provided router assigned to port 192.168.0.1 and let it run DHCP to hand out dynamic IP addresses on your LAN as 192.168.0.100 | 192.168.0.101 | 192.168.0.102, ...
To reconfigure an old router you may need to temporarily hard-wire one of it's LAN ethernet ports to your PC and disconnect any other LAN or WAN ports.
Most routers are then configured by opening a browser and going to »192.168.0.1 and walking the menus. The default address for the Actiontec is »192.168.1.1 .
2. Interconnect your routers LAN port-to-LAN port using any number of straight-through CAT5 runs and/or patch cords AND a crossover patch cable. (The connection between two LAN ports must have an odd number of crossover cables).
3. Plug in, turn on and enjoy your LAN. All PCs, printers and other ethernet and/or WiFi (wireless) devices will appear on the same LAN at addresses 192.168.x.y and can share resources. Only your Verizon router will act as a NAT firewall.

  • Trying to connect my wired PC to the wireless airport express via the wireless router.

Trying to connect my wired PC to the wireless airport express via the wireless router.  TP-link wired/wireless router.  Ultimate goal is to send music from iTunes on PC to wireless router, then to airport, then to reciever.  The amber light is blinking.  Thanks in advance for the help!

If I'm understanding right your need and your computer has wired access to your network/router, all you have to do is give your AX wireless or wired access to your network too.
Wired should be easier.  Just use a network cable to connect to the router.  Power up the AX and look for it on AirPort Utility, do so without changing any of your computer settings.  If it's visible, then on iTunes your AX should be visible on the AirPlay icon at the bottom-right corner.
If you want to connect your AX to your router wirelessly I would suggest to reset your AX settings by pressing and holding for a few secs the reset button next to all the ports.  Once it is reset, using your computer try to look for the wireless network it'll be creating, it should be something like Apple Network 4341eb.  Join that network and, using the AirPort Utility, configure your AX as a network client.  Go to Wireless > Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network.
Select your router wireless network from the drop-down menu, select the appropriate security and type in your password.  Click update.
It'll restart and automatically join your network.  Have your computer join back your router network and, again, in iTunes bottom right you should be able to see the AX speakers.
Let me know if this worked.

Printing from iPad to airport express USB printer

Exactly my point: it's not a problem of not having the right printer, it's a matter of iOS not allowing it because Air Print is blocking it, probably because of a deal with HP.
But, I've solved the problem so now I can print from my iMac, my Mac Air, my iPhone and my iPad. No thanks to the folks at Apple who purposely blocked that functionality.
Can you print from your iPad directly to the printer without involving an intervening computer, yes or no.

  • How can i play audio from movies from atv2 to airport express?

Music from atv2 to airport express appears to work okay, but not audio from movies.

  • Can't stream music from iPhone to airport express when connected to internet

I have an issue with my airport express. When the unit is used solely for streaming music from my IPhone to connected stereo speakers without an Ethernet cable attached it works fine.  When I attach an Ethernet cable to the airport express and connect to the Internet on my iPhone, the airport express will no longer stream music from the iPhone. This is a recent problem, previously I was able to access the Internet on my iPhone from the airport express, whilst simultaneously streaming music from the iPhone back to the airport express.

Do you mean Lan cable? Can this be done wirelessly from itunes to airport express without the internet connections?  I can't connect to an airport express that's not connected to the internet.

Well, the Airport Express is also compatible with 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g. If your Wii is unable to connect to the wireless network, I recommended changing the wireless security of your network.
Open Airport Utility, select your Airport Express and click Edit. Navigate to the Wireless tab and change your security from WPA2 Personal to WPA/WPA2 Personal. Then click Update on the bottom right.

  • How can I find my Mac Adress for the Ethernet Port from a Apple Airport Express Device ?

How can I find my Mac Adress for the Ethernet Port from a Apple Airport Express Device ?

You can only locate, lock or erase your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

  • HT4437 Streaming music from iTune to Airport Express

In order to stream music from iTunes (Windows Desktop) to AirPort Express, do both have to be connected via WiFi network? What if both are connected via same wired network.
My iTunes cannot see AirPort Express connected to the same network.
    thanks,

Airport utility installed on my PC (Win Vista) cannot detect AA. It communicates only when I enter the IP address of AA. After that I have configured the AA in Bridge mode. AA has wired connection with Linksys Router.PC is connected with the same router.
iPod Touch can easily detect AA and can stream music to it too.

  • Printing from XP to Airport Express-connected printer stopped working

We have an HP printer hooked up to an Airport Express. We have a Windows XP machine that has been set up to print using Bonjour and the Airport, and it has been working for months. Suddenly, it is not working. Documents get to the printer queue, but then error out.
We also have a Power Mac set up, running Tiger, that still works. We can also hook up the printer directly to the Windows PC and it prints fine. We have tried the following:
-Recreating the printer in Windows. (The Bonjour Wizard finds the printer just fine.)
    -Reinstalling Bonjour 1.04
-Restarting Windows and the printer and the AE (several times)
    -Turning off the firewall
    -Printing documents from multiple applications
-Creating a printer with a generic driver
No matter what, the document errors out in the printer queue when we try to print wirelessly from the PC. We don't know exactly when this started, because we haven't printed anything in a while. We can't think of any changes that have been made recently, except for automatic Windows updates. Has anyone else seen this problem recently? Any suggestions?

Excellent...great find! Had the same problem. Mac PB and two PC laptops on XP via Bonjour have been printing fine for many years through an Airport Extreme to an HP 7300 AIO printer. Then one day last week the Mac continued printing fine over wifi to Airport Extreme but both PC's (one Dell and one Compaq) stopped printing both via direct wired USB and wifi through the AE. Microsoft must have put out an update that hosed something on the XP side. Tried reinstalling drivers, deleting and rebuilding bonjour printer, resetting devices, etc. Nothing fixed it. Found this link and reconfigured the port as mentioned above to AE's IP address, RAW setting was already set, and they are now printing fine again. Thx for the help!

  • How do I print from iPhone using Airport Express to a regular printer over enet

I am trying to figure out how to print from my iPhone or iPad to a regular printer that is on my wired ethernet network. I purchased Airport Express and my iPhone recognizes the Airport Express. I connected the USB port to the USB port on printer. The printer recognizes the Airport Express. But my iPhone does not recognize the printer. Any ideas?

See this article about AirPrint: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Note the next-to-last bullet in "Notes" near the bottom:
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of the Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsules are not supported with AirPrint.
I do not believe you can use AirPrint to print to a wired printer, period.  Very likely, you cannot use even a printer manufacturer's app to print to such a printer.  You would need a wireless printer.

  • How to setup HP LaserJet 1320 to print from Windows using Airport Express

My situation was that I could print locally when the printer was directly plugged into the computer's USB port but when I tried to print through the Airport Express (with the printer plugged into the AEBS USB port) nothing would happen. (I could print fine from my MacBook Pro, just not from any Windows machine.)
It seems (although I'm still not quite sure why) that the issue was with the port address created by the Bonjour for Windows wizard.
The following worked like a charm:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1688294

I don't think it answers the original question. PrintCentral, according to the description you are pointing to print
    s to:
    1) most wireless printers (he's got a network printer, I assume a wired one)
Works just fine on my 2 Ethernet network printers.
    2) all printers via a Mac. This option although useful looks a bit strange. If I have to have a Mac on all the time, I would use it to view stuff and print from there. No need for an iPad.
Not sure why you would want to use this option if you want to print directly from the iPad to a printer. My wife's iPad prints to either network printer just fine when my Mac laptop is shut down.
Looking for a solution myself... We need CUPS for iPad!
You might want to let Apple know.

  • Printing from imac over airport express connected to an ethernet network

Hi, My home ethernet network shares an ethernet connected printer, and web connection via a switch and worked fine. What doesn't now work is my rearrangement that now includes an emac, and imac connected to this wired net via an airport express, they connect to the web just fine, but the printer isn't detected. I can hookup either mac to the switch directly using cat5 cable and detect the printer but not over the airport express that is wired to the switch. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to avoid more holes drilled in the floor so near where the plastic waterlines run to the second bathroom.
    Thank you,

    Hello again,
I'm guessing that the problem is maybe that both the switch and the express are duplicating some of the same things, and that the airport express should maybe be setup as strictly a bridge. Would one be able to set it up as a bridge and be able to handle 2 macs, or would it just handle one correctly at a time?
    Thanks

  • Music from iPod to Airport Express via third party router?

If I get an Airport Express to stream music from an iPod Touch to a home audio receiver, does the stream travel through the existing home network or directly to the Airport Express?
If through the network, will the Airport Express work as a wi-fi access point for an existing wireless network?
I am trying to determine if the iPod must be in range of the Airport Express, or anywhere that has a wi-fi signal. Hope my question makes sense.

So the Airport Express will act as either a client or router, but never an access point for an existing network, correct?
Actually the AX can perform as a wireless access point with an existing network as well. A typical way to do this is to connect the AX by Ethernet to another router or Ethernet switch; reconfigure the AX as a bridge and to provide a wireless network.
Can you tell me if the Apple TV works like a client as well?
The Apple TV can ONLY operate as a wireless client. It does not provide its own wireless network and must be connected to another network either by wire or wireless.
iPod and Apple TV both connect to wi-fi router, and audio/video streams from iPod > router > Apple TV?
That is correct. The audio stream starts at the iTunes host device and ends up at an AirPlay-capable device. To get between the two, both devices must be connected to a network ... either by wire or wireless.

  • Loud popping streaming music from MBP to airport express

Streaming iTunes – airport express (air tunes) – av amp
Macbook Pro (MBP leopard) (all software updates installed)
AirPort Express Base Station 802. 11n (firmware 7.3.2)
    Hi all
I am having a problem when playing music over air-tunes, (optical out) every so often, irrespective of file type and continuously throughout the music being played, I get a very loud popping/cracking noise outputted through the speakers,
This noise is severe enough to be causing damage to my speakers, so is making air-tunes unusable.
I also have a Macbook (leopard up to date) that dose not have this problem, which suggests that its not a problem with airport but with my MBP.
    Things I have already tried.
Direct optical connection from MBP to av-amp (music plays fine)
Reinstallation of OSX 10.5.5 (full install e.g. reformat)
    Reset of express base station
Rollback firmware of base station to 7.3
Set wireless security to none from wpa2
    Tried all possible radio modes
Problem persists over both wireless and wired (gigabit) network cards on MBP
All programs off during testing except iTunes
Tried switching off processes in network utility (have not spent a lot of time on this as not sure/confident as to which are critical system processes).
It seems to me as this is happening with both network cards that this is not a
network hardware problem on the MBP but maybe a background process on MBP is intermittently some how causing a spike of interference.
Also leopard is a resent upgrade, I can’t be sure but I don’t think this problem
happened when I had osx 10.4 installed, certainly when I first setup air-tunes
under 10.4 the problem was not there.
Am about all out of ideas, so I would be very grateful for any input on this.
    Kind Regards
    Drew…

    Anybody out there any ideas???
or perhaps someone hear can point me in the right direction to get some technical support.
    Regards,
