WIred Internet 150kb/s after upgrade WTH?

I have a dual 1gig MDD with two hard drives. Drive 1 has 10.4 installed and gets about 7600kb/s download speeds. Works great. Drive 2 has 10.5 installed and gets 150kb/s downloads. As far as I can tell the network settings are the same (but the networking panels are different between the two so it's hard to tell for sure) and I also have a G4 Aluminum Powerbook that is running 10.5 (from the same DVD if that matters) and it gets the faster speeds on the same network. I've got the MDD wired directly into the modem with no router at all. I have no idea how to fix this! Can anyone suggest anything? I've looked at every site I can find for weeks trying to get a solution and I can't figure out what is changing between the different os boots. I'd really love to be running leopard but not at that slow speed! Please help!

I installed Leopard clean on the second hard drive. I can't see how it could be anything but a Leopard issue (at least it's compatibility with this particular computer) since the same computer with the same networking set up works perfectly in 10.4. I reboot into 10.5 and it's back to snail's pace. Also, I downloaded the 10.5.2 update onto the 10.4 drive (because it would have taken 8 hours to do through software update in 10.5) and then installed it from the dmg.
Also, this is the second time I've tried installing 10.5 on this computer, though the first time I did not have the second "clean" drive and I had the same results before. I was hoping that 10.5.2 would fix the issue but it doesn't seem to help me at all.
I've added DNS numbers that others have suggested and still no help.
I'm really at a loss here!

WiFi Internet connectivity problems after upgrade to 10.8.4

After upgrading to MacOS 10.8.4 I am facing regular interruptions to my WiFi internet connectivity. Periodically the internet connectivity is lost and the only way to fix the problem is to turn WiFi off and on again. My mac book Can't acces internet with iphone after upgrad to maverisk

I just got issue with my Macbook Pro retina display with internet connection after upgrad from Mountain Lion to Maverisk,
before update to Maverisk I can fine to connect internet with iphone4s via Blootuse or USB cable but after upgrad to maverisk I can connect but internet can't recieve or send data, so if who got same issue like me and already solved please kindly to share experien to me how to solve this case, Apple could you help me?

Cannot connect to internet with Huawei after upgrade from 10.7.4 to 10.7.5

I have an iMac which came with os X 10.7.4.When I installed my Huawei E303 data card, I was able toconnect to the internet.
After upgrading to 10.7.5 the system appears toconnect and I can text, but there is nointernet connectivity.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Wireless internet speeds slower after upgrading from 10/2 to 50/25?? Using olders revision Mi424WR.

We have been using the oldest version/revision of the Actiontec Mi424WR router provided by verizon for 3+ years. Recently we upgraded from an outdated 10/2 internet plan to our current 50/25 wireless plan. The speeds when wired are fantastic, but with wireless, on multiple computers the speed even right next to the router hovers at about 10mbps. I understand about the degradation and limit of wireless signals, but we should absolutely be getting higher download speeds than 10mbps(~1Mb/s). On our older 10/2 mbps plan our devices were receiving consistant download speeds of higher than we are getting now, maxing out at 1.6Mb/s usually. The only change that has been made recently is we reset the router to fatory settings, leading me to believe that wireless settings that were in place before are no longer there and throttling wireless speeds. I do not expect to get the full 50+ mbps speed that I am getting from wired, but I do expect my wireless speeds to be consistent with our upgraded plan(let alone slower than our massively slower old plan). Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You should definetely get better speeds even with an older router, upto about 20 or so.
If that works for you, then it's probably just a little wireless interference.
you can change that in the router. open a browser, and go to http://192.168.1.1
user name is admin. and the password is most likely the serial number found on the service tag of your VZ router unless you changed it. Once you login succesfully, go to the top and hit wireless, then on the left basic security. then go to option 3 which is channel 1, 6 and 11 and are the only channels you should try.
So it will likely be set to auto, change it to 11 and put the check for keep settings even after reboot (Directly under the channel) and then hit apply. after you hit apply, test your connection out, if you notice a difference, leave it like that until the problem happens again, and if it happens again, go back into the router, and try channel 6, test it out. and then finally 1 if the first two don't work.
Also take a look at page 2 of Actiontec's Wireless PDF File. It gives you some idea's with regards to position and orientation of where the router sits and how it can best be positioned for maximum coverage.

Very Strange Internet Access Behavior After upgrade to systemd

Currently I'm having very strange issues with my wireless connection. Currently, if I connect using netcfg to a wireless access point, I have the following behavior:
1. chromium can connect to any website
2. thunderbird can send/receive emails
3. curl, firefox and opera can connect to some https sites but not http (yes: https://www.facebook.com, https://bbs.archlinux.org, no: https://archlinux.org, https://github.com)
4. wget does not connect, neither does pacman -Syu
after I upgraded to systemd, I was getting errors because of groups, so I removed extra groups. Here's what I have now:
There is currently no rc.conf in /etc

I've managed to make changes to the passwd file so that uuidd is in fact uuidd (instead of uuid). I've also gone through and restored the groups of postgres and tomcat. I'm still having the same behavior. After booting up, here are the new entries from /var/log/errors.log:

The only error I see is with ntpd, and I believe it is because it can't access the internet connection.

Internet speed compromised after upgrade to iOS 8

Have recently upgraded to iOS 8 and Internet speed has been drastically reduced on my iPad air (128Gb). Is there anyone out there who can assist? I'm on a weak 3G network.

First try a soft reset. Hold the home & sleep/wake button down simultaneously., keep holding until you see the Apple logo appear then let go & let the iPad boot normally.
If that doesn't help, go to Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings. You will not lose any data but will have to login to any wifi networks you previously connected with. You could also just try resetting Network Settings but I find resetting all settings can clear up a bunch of issues including speed & usability.

Wired ethernet network disappears after upgrading to Yosemite

I am a lone iMac on a Windows network, but have connected through ethernet without a problem for years. Since upgrading to Yosemite, however, my network has disappeared. My ethernet is connected, my IP address is the same as before (assigned by DHCP) and I have made no changes to any other settings. The only difference now is that my mapped network drives cannot connect and in Finder, when I click on NETWORK and SERVERS, there is nothing there.
The company IT guy is a Certified Microsoft dude and he swears nothing has been changed in the network. It must be the upgrade.
What has Yosemite changed? (The Firewall is off.)

Found a fix
When trying to fix a wake failure, I simultanuously fixed the issue with network drives. It is connected to the Preferences.
Here is how I could solve the problems:
Press command+shift+c - > Macintosh HD - > Library - > Preferences -> Drag SystemConfiguration on desktop, it's going to make a copy of it (May ask for password, then delete it from the Preferences (which is the initial folder). Shut down, then do a PRAM Reset. If you don't know how to do that :
After you shut down the computer, locate the option, command, P and R from your keyboard. Press the power button to turn it on and quickly press all four buttons before hearing the first 'power up sound'. Keep them pressend until you hear a second 'power up sound'.

Two obvious troubleshooting techniques are to delete and re-install the printer driver (or updating printer driver) and fixing the installation of Acrobat. Have you given those a try?

Personal hotspot worked in Dec, after upgrading to IOS 6.1, it doesn't

When I was at our cabin in the 'wilds' of MT, I was able to use my iPhone 5 as a personal hotspot to connect my iPad and use it to read mail, news, search the internet, etc. After upgrading my phone to IOS 6.1, when I go to turn on the personal hotspot, it says I need to turn on both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, or use a USB port. I didn't need to do this before the upgrade, and when I'm in MT, there is no wi-fi. What happened? And, yes, I do have a carrier that supports this, Verizon. I'm on their Share Plan.
Any fixes/suggestions for this would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I was able to connect using WLAN, and now I no longer have that option when turning on the Personal hotspot. All that shows up is Wi-fi, bluetooth, or USB. Where did the WLAN go?

After upgrading to Lion my internet connection doesn't work

Hey folks,
     MacPro 2010, wired connection through Verizon FiOS, upgraded to Lion (via App Store) back in July, but now my wife says she can't get on the Interent
on her account, even though all connections are good, she has an IP, subnet, DNS are good, the ethernet settings say she is connected, but using Chrome (13.0.782.122) or Safari, just hangs on browser launch. No URL will resolve no matter what site I enter. But when I log out of her account and into mine I can connect using the same Chrome browser just fine.
     The only thing I can come up with is Chrome has had issues for quite some time on Snow Leopard and Lion when trying to update. About Chrome will display there is a new version and hitting the Install button will result in a "Update Server not available Error Code: 12". Any workaround by the Chrome Blog was not helpful, and uninstalling and reinstalling the program would sometimes work. But every so often when I would manually check About Chrome it would mysteriously be updated all by itself, and I was fine. Eventually though, every so often I would check and it would say there's a new version and I would get the infamous error. I could never seem to update the program myself. I would have to wait until it did it on its own?
I don't know if fooling around with Chrome's insides (using AppTrap to get rid of Chrome, manually deleting Preferences.js files, etc) corrupted something on my wifes account, which is a limited account and had some Parental Controls enabled - although she had Allow Unrestricted Access to Internet Sites checked off. I DID, however, have the Apps section restricted at some level, and I believe certain Chrome features were blocked ( like google updater), because while logged into her account, chrome would pop up: "you don't have access to GoogleUpdater...etc" and another one named   "xml or xmd" something or other, I can't remember exactly so I apologize. But while troubleshooting the no internet issue, I hit "Always Allow" for both messages, put in my password and she still couldn't get on the web, even when I turned off Parental Controls altogether. I couldn't even do a Software Update, it would just not move.
I even opened a Terminal window and Pinged www.google.com and was receiving replys at a steady rate, so I don't know what else to try. Safari is also exhibiting this same behavior, so I'm thinking its a common issue with both browsers since both use Webkit? I could be wrong obviously...
I'm at a loss as to what it could be or what to test out. Any help would be welcomed.

I had this problem on SL and on Lion as well, and it occures for WiFi and Ethernet connections.
In fact the internet connection was not broken as I could ping the destination usin the IP (not DNS name).
In this case the problem was related to mDNSResponder task which handles all dns queries.
It was the most frequent problem in my day to day work with SL and now Lion. It was never fixed by any patch from Apple. I tried almost all voodoo including fresh install, all possible config changes - no solution.
The only version with no problems related to network was 10.5.8. All the other versions had issues of different kind (WiFi instability (lost signal), DNS problems (for wireless and wired connection) sometimes associated with machine sleep and wake up and sometimes with no reason.
QUESTION: Is your problem independent of the access point / router you connect to.
I must say networking was (and still is) the weakest part, besides the other OS X weaknesses I experienced during 4 years of OS X usage.
No problems in the same network with Linux or Windows beeing ran natively on my iMac So hardware is OK.
Software is of poor quality. Not much more to say in this matter.

ok here is the issue.
After i upgraded the IOS to IOS 6.1.2 I'm not able to use mobile internet as i have a data sim card.
As the settings provided by the service provider are not compatible with IOS 6.1.2 and the service provider cannot do anything about it, as it's something that has to be ressolved by apple.

Loss of internet connectivity after upgrading to windows 8.1

Hi, After upgrading to windows 8.1 from windows 8 i am experiencing major problems , loss of internet connectivity for no reason both I.E. and G/CHROME are now taking an age to open there are no virus issues as far as i can see.
I have uninstalled and re-installed windows 8.1 about four times over the past 9 months or so and the same thing happens after all the updates are in it runs like a dream for say 6weeks or so then i get the same faults as described above then i uninstall/ re-install ok for 6 weeks .
I would apprieate any help or advice thanks

I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 about every 6 weeks you loose wireless connectivity for no reason and the web pages are very slow to open. If you uninstall and reinstall Windows 8.1 it works fine again for about the same amount of time. You have done this about 4 times with the same result each time.
Do you know if there is any changes at that time , perhaps an update?
You stated you do not believe you have any viruses. Just to be sure here are two links that will help confirm that.

Problems with your internet connection after upgrading to iOS 7.1.2

After upgrading to iOS 7.1.2 on my iPad Retina display does not connect to the internet more. Recognizes the Wi-Fi network but can not connect to the internet. The same thing happened to my wife's iPhone 5s, while my had no problems ...

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.
