Wired ports 1,3,4 no longer work on WRT54G

I have a wireless router, WRT54G v2, and the wired ports 1,3,4 do not work anymore. The only one that works is port 2, and after a variable amount of time, but within a day or two, both the lights for port 2 and port 4 will light up. At that time I will no longer be able to connect to the Internet unless I disable my LAN connection. If I cycle the power on the router it will go back to working for a day or so.
Until now this hardware had been working beautifully for almost 2 years. Is it beyond fixing?
Thanks

try doing a hardreset or updgrade the firmware and check if it would fix the prob..and try checkin gyour cables also..if it would do the same thing then i guess your router hardware part is broke..

  • HDMI port of Portege R830 no longer working

    Hello,
I have a laptop Portege R830 model number PT320C-01J018 and the HDMI is no longer working.
I have checked the cable and the TV is new.
    What can I do?
    Regards, Kattie

I don't have information on that model because it's Canadian, and this is the site for Toshiba USA. You should contact Toshiba in your region.

  • My USB ports and fingerprint scanner no longer work...

This problems requires a bit of exposition and I'm bad with computers so bare with me. A few months I noticed my USBs were not working on my computer, So I tested the same USBs on another computer and they all worked so I knew something was wrong with my computer. I decided to try some "solutions" online and only made the problem worse. Before my computer would at least recognise that there was a USB and try to do something with it, only to fail miserably. If I remember correctly it would say something like "failed to install device drivers".Ever since I tried those "solutions" all it does now is make a noise when i plug in a USB. Oh and my fingerprint scanner no longer works. I remember messing around in the Device manager and messing around with things. Here is what I noticed. under the USB controllers tab there is a list that looks like this Universal Serial Bus Controllers  HP Webcam  Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers  Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers  Unknown Device  Unknown Device  Unknown Device  Unknown Device I'm certain I've done something horribly wrong...My question to you is...1. How can I fix this?2. in the event that I am unable to fix this, is it possible that restoring the computer to factory settings would do the trick?

Hello 15lrobin  It would be more helpful if you tell us what computer model number you have and what the operating system is, so that the info we give can be more precise.

  • Internet Connection no longer working with WRT54G V3 Router

I have had a WRT54G V3 router working successfully for a number of years now with a couple wireless PCs through a cable modem with Comcast as my ISP.  All of a sudden yesterday, neither PC could access the internet.  No changes had been made to the router.
I contacted Comcast and they of course had me hard-wire one of my PCs into the cable modem.  That worked and I was able to access the internet.  However, when I tried to put the router back in place (in either a wired or wireless fashion), I could not access the internet.
I've tried following the online Linksys troubleshooting documention.  The lights that should be lit on the router are lit.  I can access the router setup web page which shows the settings still intact.  I've tried going through the power sequencing to no avail.  Comcast says my router is the culprit of my problem, but I don't know why it would all of a sudden stop working.  My wireless printer still works so it detects a signal and my PC shows it's connected, but no internet access is possible.
What do I need to do?  Are there any other diagnostic tools available?  The Chat people won't help because I'm out-of-warranty.

Here's a trick on how to do the reset on the router.

  • Airport express wireless networks stop working.  wired ports fine

    Hi,
My AirPort Extreme has recently started this odd behavior.
For. Some reason, the wi-fi networks fail.  The device cannot be detected by the management utility and powering cycling the device is the old way to recover.  I have confirmed that the wired ports and internet connection are still working when the extreme enters into this state.  (Odd, since my wired pc cannot find the device).  So I assumed some firmware issue.
I was at at firmware 7.6.4. When this problem showed up.  I downgraded to 7.6.3 and it still occurs.
    From other threads:
Interference references-  don't think so.  We are in a remote location
Overheating-  device does not feel unusually warm.  It is mounted an a stud.  Plenty of air flow around device
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

I did find this work around for Airport Utilitiy 5.6, which has allowed me to reset both of my Airport Expressses and configure them from Mavericks.  So far so good, but the base station named "Roving Airport Express" is still fussy, at least in the eyes of Airport Utility.

  • My mini dvi output port is no longer working (2007 iMac) please help!

My mini dvi output port is no longer working, can this be replaced or do I need a new motherboard? (it's a 2007 iMac, no longer under warrantee. Long story short when I was out of town someone cut my power cord on my tv I went to turn the tv on and looked at the back of the tv to see if there was any loose connections and found the cord sliced 3/4 of the way through. I must have bumped the cord and it sparked and made a loud pop noise. Well it fried the tv (which has since been fixed) but everything that was connected to it (my ps3, receiver, and my iMac) ports are all not working now... (and yes i did try new hdmi cables to see if it was just that) If this is a hardware issue what exactly is needed to fix this? A new main board? Any feedback would be great on this. I took it to apple and they said $650 to replace the motherboard... Was just wondering if this port can just be replaced or if it is a part of the main board and that does need replacing. Everything else works fine on all three things (ps3, receiver, imac) just the outputs are fried on them. Is there any other way I can do video out of my iMac other than mini dvi? I'm not paying for the repair so I don't mind having apple replace the board, but for $650... I may as well get a new iMac for $500 more...

If Apple said the motherboard is gone, that's your answer. Even if you were to find out the port isn't part of the main board, it's all connected when you're talking about a power surge/short as you described it. And yes, I'd never invest $650 in a 5 year old computer.

  • USB ports no longer working after 10.4.7 update

Hi, I ran the latest update (10.4.7) on my machine which is a G4 Quicksilver PowerPC. I have an Apple 17 inch flat screen display that has two USB ports attached. I had my keyboard plugged into one of the USB ports on my flat screen. After the update both USB ports on the flat panel no longer work! I can use the USB ports directly off the G4 itself and it works fine. Has anyone seen this issue? I guess I am stuck now until Apple decides to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Rob

In my experience, the USB ports on the back of an Apple monitor can be re-enabled simply by unplugging and plugging back in the device in question. You might also check to see that the USB Monitor hub shows up in System Profiler. My Apple monitor USB ports experienced no changes in moving to 10.4.7.

  • Thunderbolt ports no longer working

My iMac 27" running Mountain Lion Thunderbolt ports are no longer working out of no where. I leave on a Friday, come back into the office on Monday and my second display, my Black Magic Monitor Card, all of my Thunderbolt drives no longer work with the iMac, but each device works fine with other Macs.
I've reset the PRAM and SMC over 5 time each, but to no avail.
    Mountain Lion 10.8.5
    Thunderbolt Firmware 23.10
No updates avail besides Mavericks (which I can't because of certain 3rd party plugins not supporting it yet)
Any idea of a solution besides Apple Store?

  • I have a macbook pro4.1 and the sound chip in it failed. My speakers and microphone no longer work. Does anyone know of an external speaker and microphone set that plugs into the USB port so I can continue to use both of these functions?

I have a macbook pro4.1 and the sound chip in it failed. My speakers and microphone no longer work. Does anyone know of an external speaker and microphone set that plugs into the USB port so I can continue to use both of these functions and not have to pay to have the entire main board replaced. Preferably something under $100.

I don't think you're likely to find a set of external speakers that come with a microphone and plug directly into a USB port. There are USB audio cards that look like tiny flash drives but have microphone and headphone ports in them, to which you can connect a typical two-plug Windows PC headset with a microphone, or else you can connect external speakers and a stand-alone microphone. Those adapters typically cost under $10. I don't know anything about the quality of sound that can be expected from them.
I have a Griffin iMic, which is much the same idea but larger, a bit more expensive (retail~$40), and perhaps delivers somewhat better sound quality (I hope so, but I don't know because I've never had occasion to try one of the little ones).

  • I've got a 7 year old 30gb video ipod and the headphone port no longer works! Please help :)

I've got a 7 year old 30gb video ipod and the headphone port no longer works.
I went to the Apple shop and they said it is now vintage and they can't fix my baby they offered me 10% to trade her in for a new model...
what else can I try to save her?  I've tried cleaning and wiggling and restoring. Everything looks and feels ok.

I've just found 'iPod Dock Connector Headphone Jack' on ebay it as an adapter that will connect my earphones via the wide ipod port better than 10% of something new

#1 In the router at the first page that you see after you log-in, one of the IP Address should be the same IP Address that is in the paragraph as
There is no standard governing the format of these machine names, so this is not something we can automatically determine for you.
    at https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
#2 If not, please report back that fact.
#3 In the router go to Advanced -> Universal Plug and Play OR Advanced -> UPnP (Which ever exist in your router)
#4 If you do not have at least two special computers that support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) where you can not define the ports that they use, turn off UPnP in the router.
A perfect example. At least two game consoles. Any two (Two Xboxes, two Playstations, One Xbox and one Playstation).
#5 If you have at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use: Do only use one at a time OR are there times when at least two are on?
#6 In the router go to Advanced -> IP Address Distribution
#7 What is the Starting and Ending IP Address?

  • I have a MacBook Pro laptop purchased in June 2011, and the superdrive no longer works.  Rather than have it replaced, I'll buy a 3rd party superdrive that plugs into the USB port.  Does it need it's own power source, or will the USB port suffice?

I have a MacBook Pro laptop purchased in June 2011, and the superdrive no longer works.  Rather than have it replaced, I'll buy a 3rd party superdrive that plugs into the USB port.  Does the external superdrive need it's own power source, or will the USB port provide enough power?

The Apple external SuperDrive actually exceeds the allowed power draw. Because of this, it is only trouble-free on certain models that accommodate this excess.
All others require an external Power source.

Just give Verizon a call and let them know the router has gone bad. They should have no problem sending you another router, especially if it's a Gen1 (Rev. D or older) unit which were nutorious for the failed Wired ports.

  • Some USB ports no longer working after installing Mountain Lion?

Some of my USB ports are no longer working after installing Mountain Lion onto my 21' 2011 iMac. I used to plug in my iphone 4S and charge it, or transfer files onto my iPad but none of the ports no longer work to do this. Funnily enough, other equipment plugged into the works.
