Wireframe components panel

I just loaded/opened flash catalyst cs5.5 and I can't find the wireframe components panel. I have a layers panel and project library panel but no wireframe component panel. Any help, please.

I am new to Flash Catalyst so this may be just a simple novice operation question.
I have been reviewing various training videos that Adobe provides on Flash Catalyst 5.5.
In all of the videos there exists a panel called "wireframe components".
In the panels on my version of Flash Catalysts 5.5 there are ONLY 2 panels - a Layers panel and Project Library panel.
I do not have a "wireframes component" panel.
How do I dispaly the wireframes component panel? Do I need to re-install Flash Catalyst?
Is this an add-on?
Please help.

Server Behavior, Bindings and Components Panels [subject edited by moderator]

How do I get Server Behavior, Bindings and Components Panels and Database feature this is the most retarded program ever! I installed the extension manager, then it wanted the panel installed, which won't installed because of photoshop version. How in the hell do I get Server Behavior, Bindings and Components Panels and Database feature!!!

The Deprecated Server Behaviors were removed for good reason. The code is woefully outdated and the old MySql connections won't work on servers with PHP 5.5 or higher.
Which operating system?
Which version of PS?
Which version of DW?
Which version of Extension Manager?

CS3 Components panel problem

Hi everyone,
I'm developing a CF8 application in Dreamweaver CS3. If I go
to the Components panel, I can see the application's components
listed, but if I click the "+" next to any of them to see the
methods, I get the error "There is a problem with this CFC." Anyone
know how I can resolve this?
BTW, the components work fine in the application; it's just
that I can't browse them in the components panel.

I was having the same problem in Dreamweaver CS4/10. I found this article and low and behold it worked!

I had "Separate user name and password authentication (allows multiple users) " enabled in the CF administrator under "Security-Administrator" and "Security-RDS".
After I disabled it/set it to "Use a single password only (default)" for both, I could see all my CFC's.

Where is the Components Panel and the Design Mode button in FlashBuilder 4.7 Premium?

I'm new to FlashBuilder. I've been using many years just Flash and now I'm switching to FlashBuilder. I've seen some tutorials, but the Interface in my copy of the program do not match the one in the tutorials. I could't find the componets Panel and the Design Mode button. Any ideea why?
My Laptop runs on Windows 7. FlashBuilder 4.7 Premium is via Creative Cloud:

Whe you click on Views: Window->Show Views->Other... an interactive dialog appears with the tree of views available. Above there is a textField where you can enter a filter. As you type the text, the tree updates accordingly, after each letter.
I've searched for the Components panel ... surprise!!!

As you notice the list of views is empty even before I finish the spelling of the word "Component".
Is there something I should configure, or this feature is not available in this particular distribution ?

The question rising here is what happens with this feature?
Will be available with a future update?
Will no longer be availalble in FlashBuilder, but in another Adobe Project?
Will never be available?
I belive this features are not important for advanced users... but I'm just learning this. I'm used to work in Flash. I write ActionScript, but I'm not familliar with the objects availlable in Flex, so the Component Panel and Design Mode is quite handy on this stage.
Plus, there is a real concern about the future of this technology, now beeing available HTML5. So, there is a question of oportunity investing time in learning things no longer supported. The most frustrating thing is not having an answer to this question. Even a "No" is better than "We don't know yet" <- the answer I received from online support.

I installed a mxp and it doesn't appear in components panel

Hi,
I have a new Mac Pro, an Adobe Master Suite and when I installed a mxp component it doesn't appears in components panel.
The Adobe Extension Manager is the latest too.
All is in engliish.
I installed also the Flex Component Kit and the same occurs.
Teoricly it is so simple.... just double click the mxp file and Adbe Extension Manager opens and register.
How can I fix it?

Wireframe Components list smaller than Flash Builder Components list?

Hi All,
I noticed that in Flash Catalyst the WIREFRAME COMPONENTS tab only has a limited set of components (Button, Checkbox, Data List, HScrollbar, HSlider, Radio Button, Text Input, Toggle Button, VScrollbar, VSlider). Flash Builder, on the other hand, has other components not in this list (Combo Box, Color Picker, Progress Bar, Tab Bar, etc).
For all the components in FB not in the wireframe list of FC, is the designer/developer supposed to add custom components in the Library tab of FC? Will Adobe add more to the list of wireframe components in future FC releases?

You're right, the Flash Catalyst Wireframe Components list is a subset of the Spark component set exposed in Flash Builder.
In Catalyst we expose special tooling, properties, and experience around each spark component.
It is definitely our intent moving forward to continue to expose more and more Spark components, but as opposed to Builder each component we add requires some special work around exposing the user experience of working with, creating and manipulating that component.
I absolutely encourage you to leverage the fxpl (library) workflows to create and import your own components (and share with other Catalyst friends online if you feel so inclined ).
In the meantime, if you have specific high priority component requests, we'd love all the feedback we can get. Feel free to post a list of a couple high priority components here, or post them to the ideas site so we can get other users voting for them: http://ideas.adobe.com/flashcatalyst

Dreamweaver CS3 - components panel not working?

When I try to view the components panel I go through all the signing in for RDS and receive the following error: I have seen this error posted last year but no one responded to the poster? Is there a solution?

The packages and the CFCs within them cannot be listed. There are several reasons that this may occur.
1. The URL prefix (specified when you set up this Dreamweaver site) might be ill formed. Please check the URL prefix by using Define Sites on the Site menu.
2. The URL prefix might correspond to a website where CF MX is not running
3. The URL prefix might correspond to a website to a website that has no CF component. Press the plus button on this panel to create a CF component.

Components panel Dreamweaver CS6

I am not seeing any components in the components panel. I've tried creating a new one as well as finding the existing components. Any clue on how to get this to work? Is there a place to define the existing components directory path?

New installed components not showing in components panel in cs4

Hi,
I'm currently reading the excellent book "ActionScript 3.0
Quick Reference Guide". In some chapters, the authors ask us to
install third-party components. They install well in the Extension
Manager CS4, but for a reason I don't know, they're not showing in
the Components panel...
I use Flash CS4... but I also have Flash 8 and Flash CS3
installed (in fact, all the suites) and it never caused problems
before, so I don't think that's the problem... By the way, if I
install them in CS3, they show up in the panel.
FYI, I have a French Canadian Windows XP version and I work
with English Flash versions...
Particularly, the extensions I tried are:
- as3webservice by Pieter Michels (wellconsidered.com);
- Yahoo! Astra Library (by Yahoo!, of course);
- Accordion Panel V3AS3 (by JumpeyeComponents).

Well, we're making progress...
No, there're not in that folder, but from what I understand,
they shouldn't be there either, because in that folder, it's the
place for the default ones (that comes with Flash).
The ones that we add are in the Documents and Settings
folder:
So, since I installed the same components in Flash CS3 and
Flash CS4 (because they weren't working in CS4), they appear in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Nelson Therrien\Local
Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\en\Configuration\Components... Good.
Now, do they appear in Flash CS4 (path C:\Documents and
Settings\Nelson Therrien\Local Settings\Application
Data\Adobe\Flash CS4\en\Configuration\Components)... NO!!
BUT!! I don't know if it's because I tried the French version
once or because I have a French Operating System, but I also have a
fr folder (full path: C:\Documents and Settings\Nelson
Therrien\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS4\fr\Configuration\Components) and... THEY APPEAR THERE!!
So, I copied them from the fr folder to the en folder and
Voilà! They now appear inside the Flash CS4 Components
Panel...!

Thanks for the great work. As a long time user of Quark, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat; here are a few notes and comments on Catalyst after using it for about a week. Don't forget that many if not most of the communication media "publications" have alteady existed in one form or another and any efforts at re-using the pieces, publications, templates, text and layouts we already have (oh say, hundreds of books...) helps to make a migration "viable".

Command Zero - fit in window - tried numerous times - InDesign will fit and center image; and remember the page display information from the previous view.
Drag a component into the library
Thought there would be some way to create a “master page” - in this case for a nav bar so I could create all the elements and they would be populated to all “pages”. In particular, I’d like to be able to add/subtract/modify elements I’ve overlooked when the design process is further along. I’m thinking pages is the concept implementation.
For instance, in InDesign, command clicking on a master page item releases it from the master.
A “Place” command - to import artwork
User fonts don’t seem to update; I quit, installed in User/Library/Fonts/ a new set of fonts and restarted the application. It still didn’t see the fonts. (Photoshop did.)
New layer (I expected to) create above (or below) current layer; not at the top where it’s difficult to get a hold of and reposition.
When a layer is deleted the layers palette scrolls back to the top of the list; driving me crazy when there are about 50 layers.
A sticky key for the import options when importing images (.ai) Like InDesign, the settings/import setup preferences (I would like to/should) stick until changed.
Transform tool to scale or rotate whole object or group. I see the circular transform tool; it doesn’t seem to work on a composite object/group.
When moving an image, click, hold, pause, pause, pause, should show a ghost image so the positioning can be previewed.
Copy and paste set of custom interactions (or add the set as a component set to the library) for reuse and not retyping.
Nudging arrow doesn’t seem to work most of the time; it evidently activates the HUD panel options. Sometimes?
Change ruler zero point and increments/units.
Align to canvas. Please.
Can we import / Place sound?

1. We're definitely aware of the interest in this and are looking into it for the future.
2. This will work in the next build of Catalyst that you see.
3. Can you be more specific about this one? Do you mean drag something directly from the Wireframe Components panel into the Library?
4. Pages/States in Catalyst give you the ability to do things like this. You can create the nav bar and then share it into other states (either right-click and choose Share To State, or go to the other state and click the eyeball in Layers). This is actually a bit more flexible than the master pages metaphor, since you could have the shared nav bar layer be in a slightly different location in different pages/states, or have a different background color. (And you can animate the transition between these differences).
5. This exists today: File > Import Artwork
6. Do you by any chance know what format these fonts were in? Or what the file extension is?

10. You should be able to rotate a group (or custom component) with the Transform tool. If you select a group and then select the Transform tool, what happens? Do the blue selection decorations turn into the black "transform" decorations, or no?

13. There is a known bug where the HUD will steal the keyboard focus after you've used the Convert Artwork to Component dropdown. To get around this, just click anywhere in the artboard area again. Does that sound like the issue you're seeing?
14. Since Catalyst is very screen-focused, we expect pixels to be the dominant unit. We may look at this for a future release, though. Note that the zero point already automatically adjusts when you drill down to edit the contents of a component.

No timellines for the first Interaction (when I use 2 for the same button)

I have 3 pages and one button (on page 1) that have (a) an OnClick "Play transition to page2" AND (same button) (b) an OnClick "Play transition to page3"...
The first transition (transition to page2) seems to play without any regards to the length (seconds) of the timelines that I set... it seems to do whatever it suppose to do but in a fraction of a second (like if I had set the timelines to 0 sec.). After, the second transition (transition to page 3) works fine (according to the number of seconds that I set in the timelines.
Is it a bug or a misunderstanding on my part?

Thanks for posting your project, Roger.
What's happening here is this:
You have two interactions on the button: On Click > Play Transition to Page2, and On Click > Play Transition to Page3. You expected it to play Page1 > Page2, and THEN play Page2 > Page3, which is understandale, because that's sure as heck what the interactions panel LOOKS like it's going to do. Right?
Well, unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Whenever you trigger a "Play Transition to State" interaction, it happens immediately, cancelling the current transition and starting the new one. So Catalyst is starting the transition Page1 > Page2, and then immediately interrupting it with Page2 > Page3.
You can corroborate my explanation by trying this: add another button with the interaction: On click > play transition to Page1 > Page2. When you click that button, the transition plays incorrectly.
I think there is a conceptual mismatch here. It seems that you're trying to use states like keyframes. In this case, Page2 is just an intermediate keyframe, and Page3 is the actual destination. Right? However, states are not keyframes. They are the various destinations, or endpoints, of your application. E.g. If your website has a "Home" and a "Products" page, those would be your states, regardless of how you choose to animate between them.
So, then, how do you do more elaborate, keyframe-like animations? There are basically two answers to this question:
A) FC's animation tools are for the simple transitions that typically happen in web applications. If you want sophisticated animation, you can use Flash Professional, which can create beautiful, incredibly complex animations. Flash Catalyst and Flash Professional are not tightly integrated at this point (you can embed a SWF created in either product in a project created in the other), so you'll need to make a judgment call for your particular project.
B) You can do somewhat more complex animations in FC by adding additional actions, other than the default ones, to your timelines. Here's a simplified example that will illustrate the technique:
1. Create a new project
2. Drag out a button from the Wireframe Components panel
3. Duplicate state
4. In Page2, move the button somewhere else
5. Look at the Page1 > Page2 transition. You should see a 0-length "Move". Click "Smooth Transition" to make this take some time. Preview the transition. You should see a simple linear move. Select the move effect and Look in the properties panel. Notice the combo box that says "State Transition". Don't change it.
6. With the button selected, in the Timelines panel, click "Add Action > Move". Select this move effect and look in the properties panel. Notice the combo box says "Relative", with X and Y beneath it.
7. Drag the original move effect so that it happens AFTER the relative move. Preview the transition. You should see the button move to the relative position (by default, X and Y increase by 100px each), and THEN move back to the Page2 position.
8. By changing X and Y of the relative move, you can get the button to go anywhere.
9. Let me know if it works!
One caveat to this technique: make sure your moves are arranged down and to the right in the timelines panel. There is a bug that if you have two moves adjacent, and they are arranged up and to the left, they won't work correctly.
