Wireless Adapter isn't working.

Just installed Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview 9926 and my wireless adapter isn't working.  I tried downloading the driver from Dell's site, but it fails with the following.  I'm trying to install it on a Dell 3521.  Any suggestions?

--- End of Vendor Software Log ---
[03/02/15 20:10:46] Vendor Software Return Code: 10

[03/02/15 20:10:47] Exit Code set to: 5 (0x5)
[03/02/15 20:10:47] Result: FAILURE

my suggestion:
When the PC manufacture(Dell)'s driver is not supported for Windows 10, try to download and install the driver that your device(wireless adapter)'s original vendor, such as Intel, Realtek.
Be careful about vendor and model name of your device, i.e. identify it accurately.
You can get to know about your device, via Device Manager.
  1. [Windows] + [R] and enter "control"
  2. select [System and Security] -- [System]
  3. select [Device Manager] on the left side
  4. click [Network adapters]
Good Luck!

    Hi:
This is the only thing that I can think of that will work...see if manually installing the Vista 64 bit driver works on W8.
Run this driver.  If it installs automatically, great.  If not...
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-65991-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
Go to the device manager and click on the network controller needing drivers.
Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34931.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

  • Wireless adapter is not working.

My WiFi is not working, please help me. For tree days I’m trying to turn on wireless adapter.
In Programs and Features I have Atheros 802.11 showing. But in Device Manager it is not showing up. On switch Fn+10 is going on but the control lamp is not going on. I have reinstalled the driver Atheros_WLAN 8.0.0.196. I tried even Atheros AR928x Wireless Network Adapter, but it is not working. I upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium, reset to original factory state, to Win 7 Starter. Now I again upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium. Nothing helped.
I'm hoping you can help me out.
    Peter.

You could try a couple of simple things that might help:
    SMC Reset
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and disconnect attached devices.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Reset PRAM
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Apple wireless keyboard isn't working on fresh Windows 7 Boot Camp except in safe mode

OK so yesterday I decided to reinstall Windows 7 to my mid 2011 27 inch iMac. I've had Windows 7 on it for a couple years but it got so bogged down that I wanted to start from scratch. However once I finished installing all of the Boot Camp 5.0 drivers from Apple the wireless keyboard stopped working. I'm not sure if the Magic Mouse would work because I use a wired Razer mouse which works fine and I don't feel like digging it out. I know that the keyboard can work becase I'm useing it to type this right now in Windows safe mode but when I boot Windows normally (Without holding F8) the keyboard doesn't work at all. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know as I've tried for at least 4 hours to get it to work with no luck. I tried reseting the NVRAM and PRAM, reinstalling the apple drivers, removing and resyncing the keyboard in both OSX and Windows 7. If anyone has a solution for this please let me know.

Even after all of your suggestions, as well as Apple Care's (I have a case # and everything), I still get random freezes either before, during, or after log-in. The latest futile attemps including complete removal of the Citrix software, and creation of a new user account.
Thanks also to all of you, I know I'm not alone:

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1107864
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1084445
(and more I can't get to because of the freezing problem!)
Feedback submitted... Apple had best address this issue IMMEDIATELY. It is embarassing to have to use either my Windows PC at work, or my 4-year-old G4 iMac at home, because my new $2000+ iMac occasionally turns into an aluminum-and-glass paperweight.

  • Lexmark x4850 Wireless Printing isn't working...

    Hello,
I have a client with a new Macbook pro and a Lexmark x4850 wireless printer. I found this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8299637
I tried the things people had suggested and can't seem to get anything working. They are using WEP lowest encryption because someone had mentioned that had worked for them. USB works fine but they want to print wirelessly. Lexmark support doesn't mention anything on this issue. I discovered that the "driver" for the Mac also includes the utilities to setup certain things including wireless printing. I tried the software and still, no good.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Dru

    Pretty Please?

  • HT5234 I think my adapter isn't working.

There's no light on, and my computer is showing battery power. I think it's my smaller cord with the MagSafe adapter on the end, because my husband also has a Macbook Air and I've switched & tried the longer cords.
Anyone ever have trouble with their MagSafe adapter? Any suggestions or do I just need a replacement?

Thanks. I've switched the bigger cord with my husband's computer, but he has a different & newer MagSafe adapter. It's not the L-shaped one I have. I have attempted to clean mine. It works sometimes; then other times, no. Now I'm nervous to take the adapter off as I need my computer this week for school work. I was just wondering if this is a common issue with Mac users. There's definitely something wrong with mine, and I'll be calling Apple support this week.
    Thanks again.

  • Wireless isn't working, but it says there is signal

My wireless internet stopped working two days ago. The broad band works fine, but the wireless router isn't working. All the lights are on that should be, and the laptops say there is exellent signal. However, it won't connect to the internet. The model is a WRT54GX2. If someone could help me, that would be greatly appreciated.

Did you connect directly to the router?
Delete the wireless network profile in windows. Then try it again.

  • Non Functional Wireless Adapter: Visible and Functional According to Device Manager Doesn't Appear in IPConfig

    Hi all,
This one has me completely lost. The user normally connects via a USB wireless adapter, which stopped working a few days ago apparently of its own accord. The device is detected and reported as working by both Device Manager, and the Network Connections
menu, however it doesn't appear at all in ipconfig- Not even to say that it isn't connected to anything. When I try to connect to a network, it reports no connections available as if it was out of range. However, I'm sitting right under a known working access
    point.
The device is enabled in devmgmt, there is no physical switch to disable it, and the adapter itself is tested as working both on different hardware running Windows 7 and 8, and the same hardware running Slax Linux. Wired connectivity to the affected machine
appears to be fully functional, which leads me to discount the TCP/IP stack.
I've tried the default PnP driver, the driver that came with the device on a mini-CD, and the latest driver from the manufacturer. I've also tried a completely separate USB wireless adapter, made by a different manufacturer, which proved to have the same
    problem with identical symptoms.
I've been through power settings, it is set to Maximum Performance as per the default. I've checked the WLAN autoconfig service, which is running and starting automatically as it always has. I've even checked registry settings suggested elsewhere on technet,
and those are fine. System restore produced no results. Virus scan came back clean.
The only two things that seem unusual are A) the fact that the adapter doesn't appear at all in ipconfig, and that Cisco AnyConnect VPN client begins complaining in the event viewer, error description "ROUTTABLE_ERROR_GETBESTROUTE_FAILED" - Presumably
due to the sudden lack of usable interfaces
With all this, I'm out of ideas. Thanks for reading, and any suggestions (even insane ones) would be much appreciated.

    Hi Blexie,
According to your update, I think you have fixed it by yourself.
I am glad to hear the issue is resolved .

  • The wireless adapter cannot be detected.

I think there is something wrong with my laptop, but this appears to be a little confused. I buy my laptop about 1 month ago, it is Acer V17 Nitro - Black Eidtion. But two weeks ago the wireless adapter is not working (it disappeared from the adapter settings), then I reinstall the driver, it works. Howver, the problem comes back this week from Tuesday. I install the driver, it not works. So I uninstall the driver and then re-install it again, it works. But today when I open my laptop, the wireless adapter doesn't work again! And when I re-install the driver (like what I do before), it doesn't work. After shutting down for severl times, it works again! It takes me really a lot of time! I am so confused about this! Can any one help??? T.T

The problem still exists for twice. And I have send it to the repair centre twice, the first time they replace the SSD, the second they repair the wifi. And now, the third time! Sometimes it works, some time it does not work (which means when I open the laptop every time, there would be a good wifi icon or a red cross icon). When it does not work, the wireless adaptor cannot be detected at all. I have no idea of it.

  • Windows 2003 on T61 wireless adapter not showing

I have 7658( CTO) T61 with XP pro.... I downgraded windows 2003 enterprise edition SP2. i have few questions
    1. I changed the bios to compatibility mode ( I keep sata then win 2003 not booting, so changed to compatability  mode). Is it required that I keep compatability mode.?
     2. Wireless adapter is not working ( not showing at all). It is PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_1014&SUBSYS_058A1014&REV_01\4&29E2C51B&0&00E1
I downloaded and tried many drivers from lenovo website but is not working.
I have struggled for a week and searched many forums but nothing is helping me out. Please help me.

You will need the Windows 2003 compatible SATA drivers to stop using compatibility mode. I don't know if they exist... good luck there. Try Intel's web site since you probably have an Intel chipset.
As for the wireless adapter, again it may be a matter of Win2003 not recognizing the device. I would try and manually install several drivers and see which one may work. You may have to force-feed Win2003 since it doesn't recognize the hardware. Be sure you know the manufacturer of the wireless chip... Intel or Broadcom or Atheros? Look at the specs for your laptop.

  • Pavilion G7 wireless adapter stopped working and now will no longer boot.

    I bought a Pavilion G7 about 7 months ago.
After a couple of months, the wireless adapter stopped working, it just disappeared from the Device Manager (Win7 Home).
I reset the computer to factory settings and it fixed that problem.
One month after this, the wireless adapter problem returned, I tried to use system recovery to restore it to a previous point, no luck.
I closed the laptop after this, didn't turn it off.
Opened it up and decided to watch a video I had on there, I had to pause the video halfway through (used Windows media player). Came back to continue watching and the screen was black. No lightbar activity, just blackness.
I pressed a few buttons, nothing.
Decided to do a hard reset (hold the power button for 8 seconds) then I left it and turned it on again, the blank screen returned, no signs of life, no boot, no HDD activity, nothing. The caps lock button was on, the wireless light (of course) was orange.
What on Earth has gone wrong? What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks.

  • Wireless adapter Z-Com XG-703A doesn't work with WPA after reboot

    Hello everybody,
Arch doesn't load kernel module arc4 during boot with usb wireless adapter Z-Com XG-703A. So WPA doesn't work and It can connect to only opened access points.
I found two work arounds but I don't know how to fix the issue completely.
    1. Remove usb adapter and plug it in again (it causes arc4 module to load), then restart networking.
    2. rmmod p54usb, rmmod p54common, modprobe arc4, modprobe p54usb and after that restart networking.
Could anybody help to fix the problem generally?
    $ lsusb
    0cde:0008 Z-Com XG-703A 802.11g Wireless Adapter [Intersil ISL3887]
    $ uname -a
    Linux arch 3.1.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jan 14 08:11:41 UTC 2012 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
    Stas

Does the p54common get loaded again as well when you do modprobep54usb?
If not, you might just put that into modprobe.conf blacklist.
If it does get loaded as well, there might be another wireless module getting loaded that perhaps does cause problems. You can check that with
    mkinitcpio -v
now, or with lsmod after a reboot before your workaround.

  • Does the Xbox 360 wireless adapter even work with the WRT54G wireless router?!!? If so, how???

I just bought a WRT54G wireless router (Ver 8.0; firmware updated to latest).  I have successfully connected my wireless laptop using WEP security, but I'm at wits end trying to get the Xbox 360 wireless adapter to work.  (It worked just fine with my Netgear router until that router recently died.)
When I do the "Test Media Connection" routine (you XBox 360 users know what I'm referring to), the Xbox immediately recognizes the Network Adapter and indicates that it is connected to the Wireless Network, but it inevitably fails the next step in the process:  IP Address.  I have the set-up for the IP address to be assigned automatically by the router (which is set for  DHCP Server enabled).
I have gone around the mountain innumerable times myself and then with well-meaning friends who say try this, try that, try this, try that.  I've had to re-establish my laptop set-up so many times I wanna scream!
Are the Xbox 360 wireless adapter and the WRT54G even compatible?  If so, what am I missing here?  I'm not too technical and obviously in over my head, but this ought not be that hard.
Please, please do NOT respond unless you KNOW the answer!  I don't mean to be curt, but I'm over / past "suggestions to try."
Thank you VERY much for your time and consideration if you can help me.

I don't think that the X-BOX adapter is not compatible to wireless rotuer .... there are few settings you can try on the router ... Access router setup page ... Please click on the tab "Application and gaming" and click on sub tab "Port range forwarding" 1) On the first line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box type in 88, in end box type in 88, in protocol keep it both, in ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box. 2) On the second line in Application box type in "Xbox", in start box type in 3074, in end box type in 3074, in protocol keep it both, in ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and give a check mark on enable box. 3) Now save the settings 4) Once you return to the setup page, click on the tab "Administration" and disable the UPNP and save the settings. 5) Now assign the given ip address on your xbox ip address :- 192.168.1.20 subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0 default gateway :- 192.168.1.1 Please assign the dns address on the xbox primary dns :- 4.2.2.2 secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1 6) Please try to test your xbox live. Hope it works ...
