Wireless analyzer that displays MAC ADDRESS inform...

i there, i have a nokia e71 and i am looking for a Wireless analyzer applications that displays MAC ADDRESS information of the ESSID of the broadcasting routers. is there such thing for symbian OS?

Hi akramy. Have you checked the Mac addresses that are listed in the router, if the Mac address of your extender (WAP300N) is included on the list?

  • Wireless Controller 5508 dropping MAC Addresses

Our 5508 Wireless Controller will drop MAC addresses clean out of the system. Addresses that are in use everyday just disappear. It is not a limitation issue because we are adding iPads everyday. And it is not a daily occurance, but maybe once or twice a week. Has anyone come accross this issue? Everything has been updated and it is more of a hassle than anything, I am just trying to understand what is happening.

    Shannon,
can you be a bit more specific, when you say it's dropping mac addresses?
is that from the user list? the macfilter?

  • How is that the MAC address (BIA : Burn -in -Address) not yet exhausted?

How is that the MAC address (BIA : Burn -in -Address) not yet exhausted? IPV4 is exhausted and we are moving to IPV6!

MAC addresses are 48 bits long. That is 65536 times the IPv4 space. IP addresses need to be globally unique while MAC addresses only need to be unique on their local LAN segment (LAN/VLAN).
Here is a good link explaining it more in detail:

  • Blocking wireless access by using Mac Address

    Hello,
I've got a cisco 1240AG K9 AP plugged into a DSL router. It has a factory config with DHCP enabled and one SSID. This AP is set up for open, unsecure internet access in our dining areas. Problem is, I have office PCs in the vicinity jumping on it to get out throughout the day. Is there a way to put their mac addresses in and block them? I do not want to enable any kind of authentication/security as this is supposed to be open for outside users at lunch.
    Thanks for any help.

I could do that, but the problem is, this AP is more geared at letting outside clients here on business jump onto the internet. I really don't want to have to get their mac addresses to allow access...I wasn't sure if the mac filtering could work backwards to block traffic instead of allow it.

  • Need to see MAC addresses connected directly to AirpOrt Extreme

I need to see my MagicJack MAC address so I can reserve it an I.P. address or something.
Anyone know how to see what mac addresses are connected? I know how to see which wireless addresses are connected, but wired ones.
    Thanks.
    Dwaine

AirPort Utility in Lion does not display MAC address information for connected wired clients. The MAC address for the MagicJack should be on a label on the back or bottom of the device.
If you are still using Lion, you have the option to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
Open AirPort Utility, select the AirPort Extreme and click Manual Setup
Click directly on Wireless Clients near the bottom of the summary page to see Wireless Clients. Click DHCP Clients to see wired devices.

  • Setting MAC-address on wireless Intel 2200 BG card

I have a wireless Intel 2200 BG card in my laptop. I have installed the ipw2200-package, and it appears to be working. The module ipw2200 loads just fine and iwconfig gives me this:
    eth1 radio off ESSID:off/any
    Mode:Ad-Hoc Channel:0 Cell: 00:00:00:00:00:00
    Bit Rate=0 kb/s Tx-Power=off
    RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
    Encryption key:off
    Power Management:off
    Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
    Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
However, i have not been able to set the MAC-address. I am at my parrents house, and their ISP have enabled a MAC-filter on the wireless router. So i can't access the router with my wireless card.
if i do a "ifconfig eth1", i can see that the MAC-address of the card is 00:0E:35:FE:2D:1A
    Then i do:
    ifconfig eth1 hw ether 00:50:BF:9C:D7:A5
I do not get any error-messages, but when i do a "ifconfig eth1", the MAC-address is still 00:0E:35:FE:2D:1A
Any suggestions on how i can set the MAC-address of my card?

It isn't my router, it is owned by our ISP. They might give me the username/password if i ask, but i thought setting the MAC-address on my card would be an easy thing to do. I have done it on my wired ethernet card, so i am using that one right now. But wireless would be more fun.

  • MAC address display for normal user

    Hi ,
Any one can share, which command will display MAC address for normal user. I can't get exact result from arp command.
    Regards,
    Siva

    hmm, arp should work, odd.
    Aynway, you can also find it from prtconf, which requires some parsing if you have more than one interfaces;
    prtconf -vp|grep -i mac-address
    .7/M.

  • Do I need to add Base Station MAC address to list?

Hi, If I choose to use MAC address filtering on my Airport Extreme Time Capsule, do I need to add the wireless MAC address of the Base Station to the list of allowed MAC addresses???  I'd feel real bad if I set up a list, didn't include the base station's MAC address and then could never get in to the network again because I, in effect, locked myself out???  I doubt that address needs to be included but I would like some feedback on that.
Second, does the one MAC address filter list apply to the Guest Network as well if I should choose to turn it on???  If that was the case, I would just turn off MAC address filtering why guests were present.
    thanks..  bob

If I choose to use MAC address filtering on my Airport Extreme Time Capsule, do I need to add the wireless MAC address of the Base Station to the list of allowed MAC addresses???
No. Timed Access would be for wireless devices....computers, mobile devices, printer, etc., that are connecting to the Time Capsule. The Time Capsule does not connect to itself in this regard.
I'd feel real bad if I set up a list, didn't include the base station's MAC address and then could never get in to the network again because I, in effect, locked myself out???
Sometimes, users lock themselves out by mistake by entering incorrect times for devices to connect, and they often forget that they can connect to the base station using an Ethernet connection and get back in that way.....since Timed Access only applies to devices that connect using wireless.
does the one MAC address filter list apply to the Guest Network as well if I should choose to turn it on???
    Yes

  • Request for info regarding MAC address population in computer objects

    Hi,
I am trying to determine how MAC address information is populated in computer objects. I had assumed initially that the hardware scan would be used, but observation shows this information
to be obtained prior to any hardware inventory.
I have laptops that are primarily connected via VPN, and before long their objects lose the internal network interface's MAC address. When I try to rebuild them, they fail to PXE boot. I have
found that importing a CSV of host / MAC / SMBIOD GUID will update the object (rather than having to delete and recreate it) which works temporarily. The MAC will eventually disappear, and the device fail to PXE boot.
I have thousands of these devices to manage, and it is already difficult enough having a CAS and two primaries (the windows Deployment Service on a DP only cares about devices in the DPs primary
site, and so devices that move site are a real pain already, try finding that anywhere in the OSD reference documents!)
I'm assuming now that this information is pulled from the actual client-server connection, and therefore is dynamic(ish), like IP information. If this is the case, more detail around that process,
where to find evidence of  that process occurring would be very useful.

The MAC is updated by hardware inventory and heartbeat discovery.

  • What can the ipad do that the mac book can not, or visa versa?P

I'm considering dead laptop with an ipad or macbook.  Are there any restrictions on capabilities with the ipad vs a macbook?

    FSheldrake,
many wireless routers can be set up to filter allowable wireless connections by a MAC address whitelist. Since you’re not using a wireless connection, that shouldn’t be an issue for you.
Unless you have a static IP address associated with your cable modem connection, knowledge of your IP address is largely irrelevant, since there is no guarantee that it would remain the same for any significant period of time. Additionally, if your cable modem uses NAT so that you can have a private local network (e.g. if your IP address is of the form 192.168.something.something_else), then that private IP address would not be able to uniquely identify you.

  • Problem to authenticate MAC address on ISE

    Hi guys,
I have a Lab with a ISE ver 1.1.1 installed on VMWARE, a Switch 3750, a WLC 4200 and one AP registered on WLC, the WLC and AP are connected to Switch, we are testing the user authentication using a samsung tablet and it work ok. The authentication procces is using the actual AD. the issue is when I try to authenticate de device using their MAC address. I'm reading many pappers, but no one explain me the steps to do the both autentication: by user and by MAC address using the ISE.
can any one help me about the authenticacion MAC address process on ISE. the  final deployment our client want to use user and device authentication.
Thank you for your attention on this matter.

  • Sh mac-address command in Cisco RSP4

    Hello guys,
Need your ideas on how to know to which port a device connected to using mac-address information on Cisco DLSw RSP4.
I did tried using command "sh mac-address add" but it is not recognized in this IOS.

    Interesting hardware you have there.
Is this perhaps a cat 5xxx with an RSM module?
In that case, the RSM is in fact a router blade.
The command "sh mac-adress " is only found on switches. This info is there already but you need to get it from the supervisor which will be running CatOS.

  • Address behavior different from Mac Address

A few evenings ago, I deleted several names out of a group on the iPad Address app. I found that unlike Mac Address app, the name didn't just get deleted from the group but completely from the iPad address book!!!! Rather than re-enter all the information, I made the mistake of syncing with the Mac. I checked the box to replace the info on the iPad with the Mac. There was a warning that "some of the names might be duplicated from MobileMe".
Well, ALL the names were duplicated - over 330 names - which I had to manually delete every duplicate which took about 30 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I knew how, I would remove Calendars from iDisk/MobileMe so this would not happen again. This does not happen with other synced items. Why does Address behave like this? Shouldn't Mac sync to MobileMe and the iPad but not bring the info to the iPad from both?

    craig.jr,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
How to reset .Mac Sync explains how To reset your .Mac Sync data in Mac OS X 10.4:
You can follow that procedure EXCEPT...Step 5. Do Not click the right arrow! You want your data to flow in the opposite direction.
    Good Luck.

  • Mac address doesn't match

I've successfully added 29 laptops via a computer list and been able to sync them with phd management. I have my last one that just won't go into the computer list. I can see it when I got to members and try to add it with the ..., but it never gets into the list. What I have determined is that the Mac address that is being seen in WGM is not the same one that shows up on the laptop. Don't know how to resolve this. Also, does anyone know if the apple list for client-management is down? I can't send any messages to it. Thanks.

The From name will be whatever name the sender is using. Not that the from address displayed in Mail is J S <etc....>. What you see within the angle brackets should be the actual mail address.

  • Duplicate MAC Address on HP 8530p

    Hi all
We just have figured out, that we have more then one HP Elitebook 8530p with the same MAC address. Special is, that the MAC address is in a unusual range. It has the number 88:88:88:88:87:88. There are more then one notebook that has the same MAC. We have updated the BIOS to the latest available, but without a solution. Also in the BIOS there is no way to change it physical.
We need a unique MAC because we do deploy the OS with PXE in SCCM and therfore it must be unique.
Any hint what we can do in this manner?
    Kind regards, Stefan

I hope you are not using this for MAC filtering on your router.  It is pretty much a useless security method.
