Wireless AP 3500

Hi,
I have a new wireless configuration on a 5508 WLC. the controller is licensed for 12 AP's.
I have plugged 8 AP's into the wireless vlan and 6 out of 8 come up with IP address and connect to the controller, broadcast two configured SSID's all seems good with them, but i have two AP's that do not get IP addresses.
they are in the correct vlan i can plug a laptop into the group of ports in the val and get an IP address. So it seems to be just the AP's that don't. if i look at the consol of the AP it says: Waiting for PHY to auto negotiate ...
then it say timed out and continues to "boot with errors" then it continues to complain that it has no ip address. I have rebooted a few times and changed ports, and patch cables.
any ideas?

Waiting for PHY to auto negotiate ...then it say timed out and continues to "boot with errors"
Post the entire bootup process of the WAPs in question.  I have a strange feeling this is due to a cable issue (I know you've said you've changed the patch cables).
Can you also elaborate the exact model of your switch (if it's Cisco, of course).

  • Wireless AP 3500 Upgrade

    All,
I am upgrading a large number of 1142 access points with 3500's does and one know if the back plate for the 1142's can be reused for the 3500's.
Any Cisco documentation to clarify would be great.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

back plate for the 1142's can be reused for the 3500's.
    Yes.  They are the same.
I have used several of them already.

  • AP 3500

    Heelo Folks
does the cisco new wireless AP 3500 stops the Interference,,we have unified wireless network
2)is it applicable is that  user run over channel 1 while 2nd user run over channel 6  and user 3 run on channel 11 on the same access Point?

Interference is everything that avoid the communication so, for example, any other device working on the same frequency at the same time will be noise to each other, for example cordless phones that works at 2.4ghz bluetooth devices and many other things....  so you cannot stop interference at all.
    2) Yes, however that is why it is recommended to use non-overlapping channels..  1, 6, 11 for America
So if you want to avoid interference between APs, use those, use this graphic as example:

  • USB Ports on HP G60-230US Notebook Not Detecting USB Devices

I've had an HP G60-230US Notebook PC for about three and a half years now, and all of a sudden tonight my USB ports decided to all stop working.  I first noticed it when I tried to hook up my iPod to sync it and it didn't show up in iTunes.  I unplugged my wireless mouse to see if the other USB port would work with no luck, and when I plugged my wireless mouse back in it wasn't detected either.  I tried restarting my computer twice to see if that would take care of the problem but it didn't.
My notebook currently runs Windows Vista.  On a normal day I'll have my external harddrive (WD My Passport Essential 500 GB), my wireless mouse (Microsoft Wireless Mobile 3500) and my Targus Chillmat with 4 USB hubs in the back plugged into my 3 USB ports.  My printer is usually plugged into one of the Chillmat's USB ports.  When I want to sync my iPod I usually unplug the Chillmat because none of the USB hubs on it will detect the iPod.  At the moment my wireless mouse will still work if I leave it plugged into its USB port when I restart my computer, and all the chillmat is doing is cooling my laptop down.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You may have exceeded the available power capacity of the USB ports in your notebook PC too many times. That can result in non functioning (forever)  ports. That is the specific reason that I recommend only using externally powered USB hubs.
You can check the current carrying capacity of the USB ports and see how much they are using via the device manager.
Open Device Manager and then right-click a USB root hub. Select properties and then the Power tab.
This particular system has many ports available.

Its my first post and I hope you will be able to assist me with my problem.
I am setting up a wireless lan in a samll firm. We have already bought Cisco Aironet 3501i Access point and ASA 5510. Now
First I want to configure the Access point but according to the info on the Cisco web site I will need the Cisco Wireless Controller
for that. Not able to find any info. So my questioin is "Is it possible to configure Aironet 3501i like any other wireless router" or we
need a Cisco Wireless Controller in any case? Secondly we are not using any switch or router at this moments atleast. Simply want
to connect modem to to ASA and then Access point.

  • Connecting dual band netgear extender to dual band...

    Hi,
I switched from my Netgear router to HomeHub 3 so I could get BT Sport.  I then added a Netgear wireless extender (3500) to push the signal into my garage (different electrical circuit so powerline adapters didn't work).
The Netgear 3500 is dual band and it was working okay but when I spotted the Home Hub 4 (released by BT with some stealth) and that it was a dual band router I ordered and installed that instead of the 3.  Surely a dual band router with a dual band extender had to make sense?
Now here's the strange thing.  If I connect the extender to the router on 2.4 and on 5 then the extender only pushes out a signal on 2.4.  There is a very limited signal on 5 but sooooo slow that it registers as a fat zero on a speed test.
If I restrict the connection between the extender and the router to only 2.4 ghz then the extender pushes out 2.4 AND 5 and does so at a good speed.
So what's the problem?  I just feel there's something wrong when I can't connect on both signals and have both signals pushed out from the extender.  I feel I miight be missing something (like a better/faster signal!)
    Any suggestions?
    Max

    Hi, Keith
    Thanks for picking this up.
I guess that one definite option is for me to return my netgear extender (still within return period I think) and switch to the BT extender.
My reservation would be that I have had a terrible history with BT routers over the years and a very, very positive experience with Netgear.  I'd have stayed with Netgear if my old router would allow BT Sport (which it did not).
My preference would be to switch to a Netgear router that WILL allow me to receive BT Sport.
Meanwhile...be great to hear from someone who has the BT extender up and running.

  • Bluetooth mouse does not connect

    Surface Pro 2; Win 8.1
    Built-in Bluetooth
I am attempting to connect a Bluetooth mouse to the surface when working at my desk. I have Bluetooth turn on and it keeps scrolling ... searching.
I have 2 Bluetooth mice that I am trying to get to connect:
    1. Verbatim model 96991 (no transceiver)
    2. Microsoft wireless mobile 3500 (with transceiver). I loaded Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard center. When run, cannot find device. I did not connect the transceiver because I want the internal stack to work.
I wish to use internal surface Bluetooth stack.
What do I do to get MS mouse working on surface 2 Pro win 8.1 with internal Bluetooth stack (no transceiver)

MS Bluetooth mouse (w/USB) will not connect natively to Surface2 PRO.
Another Bluetooth mouse (no USB) does but does not sustain connection. I'll use this one.

  • Lexmark 3500 wireless printing?

Has anyone been able to set up a Lexmark 3500 All-in-one with the optional wireless card to work on their Apple network?
I have three Macs, all running OS 10.4 connected thru an Airport Extreme basestation. I purchased the optional wireless card for the Lexmark and installed it according to instructions, but none of the Macs see it on my network.
Am I doomed to be tethered by usb cable!

I don't have that printer, but...
When non-postscript printers have network/wireless included, they usually have a proprietary comm protocol that shows up in the More Printers area. If it's going to work, you'll find something like Lexmark network or Lexmark TCP or something like that.

  • Why can't I print in color from Photoshop to my HP 3500 wireless printer?

I have Photoshop CS6. I just noticed last night that when I go to print files from Photoshop, (or even Preview right now... or straight from Google Chrome), it only prints grayscale. I have NOT figured out how to fix this setting in the HP 3511 wireless printer I have. Only options for "profiles" when I go to File - Print in Photoshop specifically, are Generic Gray Gamma 2.2, Generic Gray profile, and sGray. What is going on here? I have CMYK file I want to print.

    Here are some screen shots...
I'm pretty sure I've been able to print out of there before. I haven't had this printer THAT long (since Christmas) and I haven't used it a ton. I do know I printed a PDF once with color and that worked fine. I tried a PDF tonight and it wouldn't print color on that either. The "grayscale" button was NOT checked on that, either.

  • W500 with Intel 3500 wireless not connecting to N network

I have a W500 4058-CTO under windows 7.  Wireless N support working well at 145Mb/s on average.  It was being somewhat flaky when I docked/undocked about turning off the wireless radio.  I updated to the latest drivers from Lenovo, big mistake.  It installed the following on an update:
    Access Connections:  v5.61
    Intel wireless driver: v13.01.1000
Rebooted and now the wireless refuses to connect to the N network (using a Netgear WNR3500L).  If I change the netgear down to WPA-PSK with TKIP, then it connects in G mode.  Setting the netgear to WPA-PSK[TKIP} + WPA2-PSK [AES} and setting the W500 wireless to WPA2-PSK [AES] fails to connect and provides me this fine error:
Dynamic key exchange did not succeed within configured time
My original configuration on the W500 before the update was WPA2-PSK [AES].  I removed/re-installed the Intel & Access Connections drivers/software.  Same situation.  Note that if I set my router to G and the W500 to WPA-PSK with TKIP it connects at 54mb fine.  'Course, that isn't making full use of my network.
Anyone have an idea on how to resolve this?

    Try this:
    In Windows:
Go into your power options (Control Panel - Power Options)
There are 3 options: Balanced, Power Saver and (may be hidden) High Performance.
Either choose High Performance (there's no Save or Ok; it changes immediately) and try connecting again
    or
choose either of the other plans and click "Change plan settings" and the "Change advance power settings". Scroll down, if necessary, to "Wireless Adapter Settings" and click on the + to view the "Power Saving Mode". Click the + again to reveal the options for "On battery" and "Plugged in". For both, choose 'Maximum Performance'. Any of the other three options ('Low', 'Medium' and 'Maximum Power Savings') may cause this issue.
Let me know if that helps.

  • LJ 3500 color printer and Windows 7

    Greetings everyone,
my 3500 color LJ is a great printer and I have enjoyed its use. The printer is physically attached to a computer running XP Pro SP3. I was using the printer from my desktop system through a network until I upgraded my desktop system to Windows 7.
Right now I create a PDF for any printout I need in color and go to the other computer to print it. Some exercise is the only benefit to that.
Are drivers for windows 7 going to become available? Can I use Vista drivers? Has anyone any work arounds I could try?
    thank you,
    JohnHF

    Hi @JDG1607,
I see that you are having issues networking the printer to the one computer running Windows Premium.
    I can help you.
Print a configuration page to get the printer's IP address. Printing a Network Configuration Page.
Try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer on the Windows Premium.
Type the IPV4 address into your web browser's address bar. (Internet Explorer)
    Did it load the page?
Check the IP address on the computer to see if the first 3 sets of numbers match the printer's IP. They have to match to be on the same network.
Go to start, type run in the search box, type in cmd, then type ipconfig.
    Check the IPV4 address.
Now check the IPV4 address for the printer.
Do the first 3 sets of numbers match?
    Try and ping the printer.
In the same window, type ping printers IP address (space between ping and IP address)
    What are the results?
If everything checks out there, it could be your Antivirus stopping it from finding the printer.
Temporarily disable it and try the installation again.
You might need to power cycle everything.
If you are still having issues, install the printer on this computer as a USB connection and then setup the network connection.
Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network Connection.
Go to Step two: Change from a USB connection to an Ethernet connection (optional).
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a nice day!

  • Possible to select one of two wireless routers preferentially?

I have two routers in my home because the signal strength doesn't reach the whole house.
Often my laptop will connect to the more distant router with a weaker (slower) signal. Is there a way that I can configure my connection to prefer one router over another, or to choose the stronger signal?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the help, and sorry for my delayed reply.
I have a cable modem connected to the WAN on a new Netgear WNR3500 in a downstairs room with a metal roof. I have a G5 and an old G4 connected to the WNR3500 LAN ports at 1Gb speeds. I have Macbook Pro that I used to connect to the LAN port on my old wired router so I could get maximum speeds for work teleconferencing. Now I connect it wirelessly for that since the WNR3500 is wireless-N, but I still use the hardwired 1Gb connection occasionally for large data transfers.
I also have a cable from a WNR3500 LAN port running upstairs to the WAN port on my old wireless router, a Netgear WNR314, which only supports wirless-G. My WNR3500 does not reach all parts of the upstairs and I already had the old router and cabling so I hooked it up to supplement the 3500. The 314 is set up to NOT provide DHCP hosting - all of the wireless connections through it are assigned ip addresses by the 3500 downstairs. I have a Powerbook G4 upstairs that is usually connected wirelessly to this router.
The problem is that if I bring the Macbook Pro upstairs, or the Powerbook G4 downstairs, they don't automatically switch to the nearer (and stronger and thereby faster) router but stay connected to the weaker signal. I think that means my setup is not supporting roaming. I haven't looked at the WNR314 settings in more detail yet, but I don't remember a specific 'bridged" mode. The two routers do have different SSIDs.
So, is it just that the 314 is too old to support bridging, or is it because the two are using different protocols and channels? E.g, if I set up the 3500 to use wireless-G would that allow them to switch automatically? Not that I want to do that, because I like the LAN transfers speeds I get with the wireless-N. I do understand that my cable modem is the bottleneck for web I/O.
For now, I can switch manually, which is not such a big deal, but if I'm in the middle of a transfer or teleconference, that gets cut off.

  • How is my "rapoo wireless mouse" connecting if it's not listed in Bluetooth

Hi - I inherited a 1 year old iMac 24" (black back), with a wired usb apple keyboard, and a "Rapoo 3500" wireless mouse.
The mouse works fine, but trouble is, I can't seem to find it listed in Bluetooth Prefs - Devices! How is this mouse connecting to the iMac??

The 24" iMac's also have infrared, the apple symbol on the front of the computer is where the infrared receiver is located. Bet you thought it was just there to look cool. I suspect your wireless mouse isn't a bluetooth mouse but an infrared device.
