Wireless audio besides iTunes?

Is there a way to get my airport to play audio to the speakers connected to the airport from quicktime or the dvd player? how about other media players like Real and Window's. some hack perhaps....

I've tried using VLC in combo with Airfoil to play DVDs and EyeTV programs with little success. I can get the wireless audio and video in sync for a time but they do not stay in sync. It seems that, in the case of DVD playback, chapter changes cause a slight "mis-alignment" that grows worse over time. IMO, it is not worth the hassle. Better to stick with wired connections.

  • Recently I have not been able to sync itunes radio with my wireless audio player.  What happened?

I cannot get itunes radio to sync with my wireless audio system.  It was working until recently and now only downloaded music will play.  Is this a function of the system or did itunes do something?

    Hi,
Here is a suggestion from Carolyn Samit that worked for this problem with iPads - see if following her instructions clears up the problem with your iPhone:
Launch iTunes with your iPhone connected to your Mac. Make sure the iPad is listed under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window.
From your iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Devices tab.
If there is more then one backup available, delete all but one.
Restart your iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
    Restart your Mac.
    Try to sync now.
    Hope this works for you!
    Cheers,

How can I play music through safari specifically youtube on my Mac book pro over soundlink to my bose wireless speaker I can only play audio from itunes at present? HELP PLEASE!

Should be able to go into your sound preferences and choose your output device, you can also try downloading Airfoil and try that, it's a pretty cool app.

  • Looking for a wireless audio from any source`

I have an Apple TV, iPhone 6, and Dell PC.  I am shopping for a  self-amplified speaker system which can WIRELESSLY stream audio over my home WIFI network (probably not Bluetooth) for BOTH the following:
MUSIC AUDIO, from ITunes, Spotify, apps from iPhone or PC
VIDEO AUDIO, from Apple TV or broadcast TV
Shopping around there seem to be several brands which  do one or the other, but it’s not clear to me there is any system that does both. Is that true?
For example, Apple’s AIRPLAY enabled speakers (or normal speakers hardwired to my TV) seem require streaming though Apple TV. Can I also stream Spotify or other apps with AIRPLAY speakers?  And NON-AIRPLAY speakers (like SONOS) clearly support most streaming sources, however do they also work with Apple TV for video, and if so without hardwiring the speaker to the TV?
I’m looking for something that does it all, and without complicated workarounds, and with a seamless interface on my device. Wirelessness of the speaker itself—i.e. not hardwired to signal source like SONOS does—would be an added bonus, but not necessary.
Some brands I am looking at: KEF  SONOS  Bowers & Wilkins Bose
Can you help me, or set me straight if I am wrong about these assumptions?

you should checkout the program called airfoil it let the user stream audio with airplay from any program not just itunes
so that would make spotify be able to play out of airplay speakers be it an Apple TV or airport express with speakers connector or a
device which was build to support airplay

  • Wireless audio connection to external sound card

    Hi to all!
I'm using a usb audio interface (Fast track pro) to my Dell Vostro computer. I use this interface to get better sound quality producing music and to use studio speakers, connect eventually some synth, record samples...nothing too much serious. End of introduction, go to my problem.
I'm trying to connect the sound card to my computer without cables using the HP wireless audio. I would like to know what output rate has de S/PDIF connection. Also, as I understand, if I connect the HP wireless audio using this connection, the device is not doing any Digital to Analog transformation, right? I want a pure digital input in my sound card! I must say I have tried the connection (Computer - USB transmiter -> HP wireless audio s/PDIF out - Soun card s/PDIF input)and it didn't work. I need to sync both devices. Can you help me doing that? I know maybe it's not a typical connection, if you think a better way to do it (or think is madness) just let me know!
Many thanks! Also must say I'm not an expert user, so excuse me if I say something wrong.

    Hi again,
I just found a link on M-Audio's website (forum) that says the Fast Track Pro does not support sleep mode, and that I should set my computer to never go to sleep. *****, a little, but I guess it's not a huge deal. And, ultimately, what matters is the sound quality that I get. And, that is quite good!
In the meantime, your point about an external power supply (besides the USB power) is interesting, and a really good point. I wonder if I powered the interface with the optional external power supply, would that alleviate the problem (since the power to the M-Audio box would be continuous). I may, one day, order the optional power supply and check it out. In the meantime, I will simply set my computer to never go to sleep.
I do have a question in this regard, though: Is "going to sleep" the same issue as "screensaver". I ask this because I've figured out how to set the screensaver to "never", but I don't see anything about "sleep" mode. Is this the same thing? If not, how do I access the "sleep mode" settings?
    Thanks again!
    Vic

  • Streaming audio into itunes?

    Quick question...
Is it possible to stream audio into itunes using the headphone jack on my ibook for the purpose of playing other audio sources (not mp3s/CDs) wirelessly to airport express?
Or, is there any third-party software that has the capability of streaming audio-in through the headphone jack and then out to airport extreme?
Any help would be much appreciated!

rengic, Welcome to the discussion area!
That is not possible. The headphone jack on your iBook is audio OUT only.
To get audio into your iBook, you will need to use a USB audio input device like the iMic.

  • Apple AirPort Express - use only as wireless audio gateway

    Hello!
I use a Samsung Notebook (Q35) and iTunes extensively. My WLAN (801.11 g) connection is already set up with an existing access point and router - but what I really want to do is to make up a wireless audio connection between iTunes and my stereo system. Sounds like the AirPort Express is the right thing to do - but, please, can anybody tell me
    a) if I can use both my existing WLAN network and the AirPort Express as ONLY audio gateway to my stereo TOGETHER at the same time (I do not want to include the AirPort into my WLAN-DSL network - I only want to use it as audio gateway to the stereo),
    b) which performance I can expect in such configuration (does surfing the internet slow down the audio link in such configuration)?
    c) can I use the AirPort Express to take up an extrenal harddrive in such a configuration?
Do You have any suggestions of alternatives for a wireless audio gateway to the stereo? Are there other, generally useable ways?
Thanks very much for Your answer in advance.
    Björn
P.S.: Do You know - can I use the USB connector in the AirPort Express to connect to a USB hub - and use it to connect it to my iPod and synchronize my iPod wireless?

    hi Björn,
    a) if I can use both my existing WLAN network and the AirPort Express as ONLY audio gateway to my stereo TOGETHER at the same time (I do not want to include the AirPort into my WLAN-DSL network - I only want to use it as audio gateway to the stereo),
the Airpor Express can be configure to join your existing WLAN. so as a part of your local network, it will be an accessible device while you can still used your internet.
    b) which performance I can expect in such configuration (does surfing the internet slow down the audio link in such configuration)?
i haven't notice a significant slow down while i'm surfing internet and streaming AirTunes but i'm not able to tell you how much bandwidth AirTunes actually needs.
    c) can I use the AirPort Express to take up an extrenal harddrive in such a configuration?
No, only the new Airport Extreme n base station can support AirDrive but the Airport Extreme base station does not have the AirTunes features.
Do You have any suggestions of alternatives for a wireless audio gateway to the stereo? Are there other, generally useable ways?
personnally, i do beleive that the AirTunes features you will get with the Airport Express is the better alternative since you already use iTunes for your playback.
P.S.: Do You know - can I use the USB connector in the AirPort Express to connect to a USB hub - and use it to connect it to my iPod and synchronize my iPod wireless?
to my knowledge, the usb socket on the Airport Express can only be used by a USB printer or a AirTunes remote control. you will not be able to synchronize your iPod on the Airport Express.

  • No sound on wireless connection from itunes to airport express

Just configured a new AX to Linksys WRT54GSV4 using WDSremote, got a solid green light, airport's setup and admin programs v4.2 both see AX with linksys IP from DHCP. When playing itunes v6.0.1.3 I have a speaker choice of My Computer or Airport Express. to AX keeps saying connecting to "Airport Express" at the top and then the song progress bar shows but doesnt move as well as no audio. Audio does work on My Computer and to AX if I connect using the ethernet jack. Why no wireless audio?

  • When I upload audio from itunes into my imovie project, it does not show all of the track?

Hi, I have opened a new project in imovie - I have uploaded 200 photos into the project to make a Comic Book movie!
this project is 7 mins and 8 seconds long - the exact length of the audio track that I want to play during the movie!
I have selected the music by clicking the musical note button in imovie, which open up my itunes library and displays the track I want to use that is 7 mins and 8 seconds long.
When I click and drag my MP3 audio from itunes into my imovie project, i only plays the first 5 mins & 33 seconds; leaving my project in silence for the final 1 min & 3 seconds????
I have not added markers, there are no fade ins or fade outs - only the first 5 min & 33 seconds or a 7 min & 8 seconds MP3 Audio track???
I have spent 10 hours trying to rectify this problem.......
can anyone help me with this problem

  • No audio from iTunes 11 on windows 7

I get no audio on playback from newest releases of iTunes 11.1.5.5 on my Windows-7 laptop. This is whether I am trying to listen to groovera.com channels on the internet option, or direct playback of a CD inserted. In all cases iTunes appears to be playing, yet no sound comes out of the speakers or headphones. All other programs (Spotify, Pandora, etc) use the speakers ok. I have uninstalled iTunes and freshly downloaded it several times. This situation has persisted through several releases over the last few months; I do not remember with which release the problem first started. I have no idea why. I have looked at Windows Firewall settings, etc. I have a feeling the answer lies in either iTunes settings or possibly permissions within Windows, but have no clue what to look at. Help?

    Hello Ozboz1,
It sounds lke you are not hearing audio in iTunes when playing a CD or listening to internet radio. I recommend first checking out this info from the article named:
iTunes 11 for Windows: If you have trouble playing music or other audio
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12335
If the progress bar at the top of the iTunes window is moving, but you don’t hear anything
If you’re using your computer’s built-in speakers: Make sure the volume control at the top of the iTunes window isn’t turned down, and that your computer’s output volume isn’t turned down (in the “Sound and Audio Devices Properties” control panel).
If you’re using powered speakers connected to your computer: Make sure the powered speakers are properly plugged in to your computer’s audio port, plugged into a power source, and turned on. Also make sure their volume isn’t turned down.
If you’re using remote speakers and the iTunes volume control is dimmed: Make sure Computer is selected in the AirPlay pop-up menu at the top of the iTunes window. Then choose iTunes > Preferences, click Devices, and make sure “Allow iTunes audio control from remote speakers” is not selected.
If you’re trying to listen to music through remote speakers using AirPort Express: Make sure the remote speakers are selected in the AirPlay pop-up menu at the top of the iTunes window. If you only want to use the volume control on the speakers, choose iTunes > Preferences, click Devices, and select “Allow iTunes audio control from remote speakers.” Make sure the volume control on the speakers isn’t turned down.
If the issue persists, try the troubleshooting in the following article to help isolate it further:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
If the issue still is not resolved I would next use the following article to help investigate conflicts with Windows:
iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Audio does not play or plays incorrectly
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1362
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • No audio in iTunes

"Suddenly" (isn't it always?) I have no audio in iTunes (10.6.1).
Audio in other apps is fine. May be something obvious, but I'm stumped. Any ideas?

I had the same problem. I was able to get sound again by going to "sounds and audio devices" in control panel. I found a "mute" box that was checked. How it got checked is a mystery, but others have reported losing audio when updating to most recent iTunes, so I can only assume it did something wacky during the install.

  • No Audio in iTunes after 10.1.1 Upgrade

After upgrading to iTunes 10.1.1, I have no Audio in iTunes for Music/Podcasts.
Audio works fine in iTunes for movies/tv shows but not music/podcasts. I validated the audio works in all other programs, Quicktime, etc.
Tried reinstalling several times, same behavior - Any thoughts?
    Running Mac OS X 10.6.5

If it play video but not audio, normally is an audio codec trouble. Movies may using other codecs than your musics. Strang this happening when upgrading... You may try play the music with QuickTime, if still got no audio, than is the codec.
