Wireless-B W11S4V4 connection issues

Man I need help.  I have a W11S4V4 wireless-B and it was working fine.  I had to connect my labtop directly to the comcast internet so I turned off the router for a few days.  Now, when I got back to how I had everything set up, i can't get connection.
The router lights come on, my computer reads the wireless connection, I have excellent strength, but cannot connect to the internet.
any ideas?  I didn't change anything, just unplugged the router is all.
Can someone help me?   Thanks.

You have already connected your Modem to the Router. Make sure the connections between your modem and the router are done in a proper way. Modem should always be connected to your Linksys router on the Internet Port, Then you need to connect your computer to the Linksys router on the LAN Port no.1..... Once this connections are done properly, Unplug the power cable from your router and fro your Modem, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable to your Modem, wait till all the lights are Lid, then you can connect the power to the Linksys router. Now check if you are able to browse internet on your computer.
If still dosent work, then follow this link

  • MiFi 2200 wireless connection issue

I have similar issues as I have seen others post.
I can access the internet if I direct connect the mifi 2200 direct to my laptop.
The mifi 2200 does connect wirelessly but it has limited connectivity status and the internet is not accessible.
The other oddity is whether I have the mifi 2200 directly connected thru the USB cable or wireless I am unable to connect to the device's IP address.
I can't figure out if it is a device issue or configuration issue.
I am presently waiting for tech support to call me back. 1.5 hours last night with tech support was no help.
Techs suggestion: take your laptop and mifi 2200 to a Verizon store for help... uhh NO.
Any body got any other suggestions while I wait for my call back?

PDCLarry, Good know that I should not be able to get to the mifi's console if I have the device tethered.
But I still can't get to the console thru the wifi connection, still has limited connectivity status. The vz access sw that is on the mifi had a FW upgrade exe file. No update was done, newest version currently installed and yes it is 159
I tried the paperclip reset with tech support with no luck and have done it again, holding the reset down for 15+secs
I knew I should have just gone to the chill cook off instead of jacking with this thing all day.... Very annoying.
I'm having the same issue. I have two laptops ... one with Windows XP and the other with Windows 7. I tether the MiFi to my WIndows 7 box and it works. But when I make it a hotspot the Windows 7 box won't connect but the XP box will.
What I have noticed in the admin of the MiFI is that  the Windows 7 box is connecting via ARP while XP connects via DHCP. So the IP address assigned to the Windows 7 box is outside of the MiFi's DHCP (192.168.1.24) range while the XP box is within the range (192.168.1.2).
So if you are using Vista or Windows 7 we need to find a way to change the wireless adapter from connecting via ARP to DHCP. Or maybe increase the DHCP range of the MiFi device to include the ARP range.
I'll test some more and send an update,

  • Wireless connection issue, new HH2.0A

    Hi again everyone.
We've recently upgraded to 'up to 20Mb' BB option 3 and got sent a new HH2.0A to go with it after being on the 1.5 for a few years but i seem to be having trouble with a secondary PC connecting by wireless.
The other PC is using a BT Voyager 1055 wireless dongle to connect, but it seems that the first time it connects after being turned off, it can't aquire an IP address so we have to keep repairing the connection until it picks one up, then it works fine until it's turned on again the next day.
I've tried setting the HH to give it a static IP address but the problem still happens.  I've noticed the dongle utility says it's using WPA-PSK security whereas that isn't an option on the HH security page, only 'WPA' or 'WPA & WPA2'.  Would that be causing the issue do you think?
I'm reluctant to change any hub settings too much as we are still within our 10 day line testing period and aren't up to full speed yet.
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes, deleting the old connection was the first thing I tried but it didn't work.  I'm going to try totally reinstalling the 1055 utility from the disk next I think.
I didn't even check the BTFon thing but the hub page says it's active so I guess it is transmitting.  Would this have any effect on the problem or on my speeds as a whole?
I'm not sure if reinstalling will solve this, but go for it
If it says active, then you're part of BTFon - this will use a max' 512Kbps or your total speed when someone connects to it
It shouldn't affect your wireless connection

  • Wireless Connectivity Issues

Hello, I am having internet wifi connection issues with my laptop computer. In the bottom right corner of my taskbar, it says "Network Internet Access"However, I am not getting connection through any of my browsers.I am able to get wifi connection through my Nintento Wii U, but not my laptop. When I turn wifi button on keyboard off and then back on quickly, I only get connection for a single second; then no connection at all. I have tried the following:1.) Tried to connect to friend's wifi, but could not connect to the network 2.) Ran troubleshooting for wifi and it said two errors: broken access point and plug or wireless not plugged in properly 3.) Ran  Wireless Network Troubleshooting for when I tried to connect to my wireless router and results are: couldn't identify the problem..(network connected internet access, but no connection to any browser) 4.) Checking the status of wireless driver and results are this device is working properly 5.) Uninstalling and reinstalling Intel Wireless driver through device manager 6.) Unchecking box that says turn this wireless driver off to save power 7.) Checked Windows Firewall to see what boxes are checked and unchecked...not sure what to look for 8.) Disabled and Inabled wireless network driver I noticed that there is a slight rattling noise coming from inside my laptop not sure what came lose or what has become broken from the inside; I never droped it, but I did hit it slightly once or twice against wall while the laptop was in laptop case strapped to my right shoulder... Is it possible that I may have a broken wireless card that is inside my laptop?I ask this because this is very much my concern.

  • HT6030 Mavericks IMAP connection issues over wireless

I am having intermittent IMAP server connection issues on my Macbook pro when wirelessly connected to my home network. Other machines (both cabled devices and wireless devices) are fine. Other email accounts (Gmail and iCloud) are fine. It's just when connecting to my ISP's IMAP server. All settings in the MAIL app are correct (i have checked fifty times) and I have uninstalled / reinstalled the account several times.
If I set up the account, all is well for a little while, then I get a "Can't connect to IMAP server, connection on port 143 has timed out" error message.

  • I am having wireless connectivity issues with my time capsule

Over the last 3 days my wireless devices have been having issues with connectivity.
    Network setup:
Modem - Motorola SB5102 Cable Modem
1 TB Time Capsule 802.11n (second generation)
The devices are approximately 3 feet apart.
    Wired Device:
Mac Pro (2008 build) running OSX 10.6.8, Airport Utility 5.6.1
    Wireless Devices:
    Playstation 3
    Macbook Air
    iPhone 5c
    iPhone 4
I am having issues with internet connectivity. The wireless signal strength is fine as all devices can find the network. However when connected to the network accessing the internet on the Macbook Air, or either iPhone is slow and streaming services such as Netflix cannot connect. I have intermitant connectivity to the Playstation Network on the PS3.
I have wired both the Macbook Air and PS3 directly to the Time Capsule and have no issues, internet is accessible and streaming services are fine.
I have power cycled all the devices (Time Capsule, macbook, iphones, PS3, modem) to no result.
I am looking for any other suggestions that may help me with my wireless connectivity issue.

A Gen2 TC is probably on its last gasp.. and it is well overdue for replacement.
If you want to get more life out of it you normally need to repair or replace the internal power supply.. This is not done by apple or any of their repair centres.
Just do ebay search and you will find sellers with replacement supplies.
Otherwise to test, do a full factory reset..
I would also downgrade the firmware.. 7.5.2 will work just as well for you and has less bugs than 7.6.x firmware.
To downgrade hold down the option key when you select firmware version.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • Wireless Connectivity Issue with 802.11n.

We have a 5508 Controller and sixteen 1142 APs.
Several of our laptops were experiencing connectivity issues over Wireless.  Older laptops that do not support 11n are not having any problems.
I disabled 802.11n for both 'a' and 'b/g' in the Controller.  Now the newer laptops connect with no issues.
They would in fact connect to the APs while 11n was available, just no Internet Access - (cannot ping DG, etc).  Disabling/Enabling the laptop WL adapter would allow brief access (sometimes), but they'd quickly lose Internet Access once again.
Our WLANs are configured for WPA2/AES.
This looks like a 802.11n configuration issue at either the Controller or the Laptops (or both).  Both are using the Default settings for 801.11n.
Any recommendations for correcting this?  Are there best practice guidelines for configuring 802.11n?
    Thanks.

  • Satellite U940 PSU6VA - Wireless connectivity issues

    _*My specifications:*_
*Model:* Toshiba Ultrabook (Satellite U940 PSU6VA-00S002)
*Operating System:* Windows 8.1 x64 (upgraded from Windows 8 x64)
    *Wireless adapter:* Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2200
*Wireless adapter driver version:* 15.10.0.12 (which is the latest for my device)
I have had this Ultrabook since February 2013, and throughout that period I have always had wireless connectivity issues, even after performing a factory reset. My wireless icon fluctuates between three states:
    * Internet access
    * Limited (in which case I cannot connect to the internet or any device on the network)
    * Not connected - connections are available (and if I try to make it connect to the network, it will fail)
Sometimes my computer would instantly reach the "Internet access" state upon startup, and would remain in that state. Other times, it would be "Limited" for several minutes after starting up my computer before it finally connected, and even then the connection would drop out every now and then. At the worst, it would remain either "Limited" or "Not connected" indefinitely, no matter how many times I reset my wireless adapter or restarted my computer.
Until recently, I had always thought that these issues occurred randomly. However, I recently noticed that I always have a perfect connection whenever there are no other computers connected wirelessly to my home router, and I always experience issues of varying degrees when there is at least one other computer (or even a smartphone) connected wirelessly to the router. If there is another computer connected to the router via an Ethernet cable, this does not cause any problems; it is only wireless connections that interfere with my computer.
It is only this computer that has these problems; the other computers in my house never experience these issues, no matter how many computers are online. Also, my computer does not only experience these issues with my home router; it has the same issues on my university's wireless network.
My question is, how can I fix this? Is this a known bug, or is my wireless adapter defective? I know I can connect using an Ethernet cable where possible (I never have problems with Ethernet connections), but this is not always possible at university.

I just checked the page you linked to, but it recommends that laptop users obtain their drivers from their OEM rather than from Intel.
I had already checked for driver updates through both Toshiba Service Station and Device Manager (and checked both again just now). Toshiba Service Station tells me that there are no updates available, and Device Manager tells me that "the driver software for your device is up to date".
Should I update to Intel's latest driver anyway? If so, should I also install the Windows 8.1 version of "Intel PROSet/Wireless Wifi Software"?

I have found the WLAN channel setting in Device Manager and I will test it when I get the chance. But how do I change the WLAN standard?

  • Wireless Lan connection issue with Linux clients

    Hi
In a large Wireless Lan enviroment for a university, we have 3 WISM moduls attached on a 6k hw - Manged by ACS v6.0.181.0
We recently upgraded the software version of the controllers from 4.x to 7.0.98.0 - the Emergency Image version is 5.2.157.0
Since then, the students with Linux clients have massive connection issue - repeated connection lost in a short time period.
However the students with Windows clients have no problem at all.
The studends report, that their linux clients getting so much of some kind of unnecessary broadcast traffic which can not be handled by the NIC - and the NIC goes down - and this happens all 5-10 minutes.
Affected Linux clients are: Ubuntu v10.10 - also OpenSuse, Fedora and Arch-linx with latest OS version.
Any Idea how I could solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi Nicolas
Thanks for your reply. The broadcast forwarding is disabled on WLC's.
Pls find below the attached picture, which shows the captured broadcast traffic on a linux client (sent by a student to me).
I'm not sure, if its really only the broadcast traffic, which the linux clients can not handle.
From my point of view, it seems also to be that the linux clients are somehow disadvantaged among the other clients like windows or mac, if they all trying to get a wireless connection.
But the fact is only the linux clients are affected - and this happens to the linux clients only in our wireless infrastructure.
Windows or Mac clients have no such problem at all
    regards

  • Too many wireless-g networks in my neighborhood - connectivity issues???

I have a WRT54G (V.2) wireless router with the latest firmware and a couple of PC (XP) on a wireless-G network.  I can see a variety of other wireless-g networks in my neighborhood all within signal range.  Any where from 8-10 of them...
I have changed channels so that I am not on or near most of the other networks, but with that many it is impossible to find a unique channel and I know they overlap some what.
I seem to have on and off connectivity issues with a PC about 30-40' away in another room.  It works for 5 or so minutes and then disconnects, reconnects to the wireless network and it works again for a little bit.
No changes have been made to the equipment over the last year.  All I can contribute it to is the additional wireless networks within range now.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to better the connectivity?  I see Wireless-N(draft) out, but from all the reviews it does seem to work any better than wireless-g.
What about the db 7 gain antenna over the db 5 the adapters come with?

Thanks for the input.  The network SSID is unique and I am running WPA encryption.  I cannot say what kind of phone systems the neighbors has, but my wireless phone system is at 5.8 Ghz.
The PC does not switch to other systems, just losses connection, then you right click and select repair and it reconnects.  Sometimes it reconnects by itself if you are patient enough to wait for it...

  • WRT54GX(4) - Wireless Internet Connectivity Issues

I am having a problem with two Linksys wireless routers. One is a WRT54GX (SRX100) and the other is a WRT54GX4 (SRX400). the WRT54GX is the primary router for my home network and is connected to my cable modem.
I have a couple of computers on a wired network connected to this router that never have any problem connecting to one another or to the Internet. I also use the WRT54GX for wireless connectivity for the downstairs and west side of my home. The WRT54GX4 is hardwired to the WRT54GX and provides wireless connectivity in the master bedroom upstairs on the west side of my home. The signal from the WRT54GX downstairs router is too weak in the master bedroom due to copper plumbing for two bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) and the kitchen that are between the master bedroom and the WRT54GX on the opposite end of the house.
Sometimes, both wireless routers work fabulously and wireless connectivity is seamless throughout the house for my kids desktop system, which has a Linksys Wireless-G PCI card, and two laptops, all of which have integrated Intel Pro Wireless adapters.
For a third laptop, I have been using a Linksys SRX CardBus wireless adapter to connect at higher speeds. This is due to the volume of data -- financial records, images, etc., that I typically access from this laptop.
Finally, the two routers have different SSIDs and operate on different channels in the 2.4GHz range. All of my wirelessly-connected systems can see both routers and all are configured to connect to either network automatically using WPA2 encryption with a pre-shared key.
On occasion, one or both of the routers will act strangely. There are a couple of different scenarios.
    1. Sometimes, I can connect wirelessly to one of the routers, but I can't get an IP address. My DHCP server is on a server that it is on the wired network downstairs. Of course, without an IP address, I can't do anything on the network, never mind accessing the Internet. In some cases, I can switch to the other wireless router and everything functions normally. Other times, neither router will provide an IP address.
    2. Other times, I can connect wirelessly to one of the routers, get an IP address and then access resources on the local wired and wireless networks. However, I won't be able to get to anything on the Internet.
These symptoms do not apply to the systems on my wired neetwork and this has never happened using my LinkSys SRX wireless card on the one laptop. However, the Linksys Wireless-G PCI card in my kid's desktop system and the Intel Pro wireless on the other two laptops do fall victim to these problems.
Last week, we had a friend who worked from our house one day. He brought his laptop. He had no problems connecting wirelessly to our home network or accessing the Internet. He worked all day connected to his office network using a VPN connection. That same day, my wife's laptop could wirelessly connect to the home network. but could not access the Internet. Within a day or 2, neither her laptop nor my work laptop could connect to our wirless network and get an IP address through either of our wireless routers.
I upgraded the firmware on my WRT54GX to the latest firmware and rebooted it. We have also rebooted the laptops several times. Finally, last night, I restored connectivity to our home network through the WRT54GX. However, we still did not have access to the Internet and we could not connect to the WRT54GX4. I haven't the slightest clue how I did it.
This morning, on a hunch, I asked her to try the Linksys SRX CardBus adapter in her laptop. She called me just after lunch to tell me that she was now connected to the Internet -- through the WRT54GX!
This whole situation has me frustrated and it's consuming massive amounts of time. I sure would love to understand what I'm doing incorrectly.
And, please, don't tell me to go buy a new Wireless-N Router and Wireless-N cards for the laptops. I don't have $500 to spare at the moment.
    Thanks!

    jam7ra,
Please let me know how the beta firmware works for you. If it seems to help, send me a private message and we'll connect offlist so you can forward the firmware to me, if you don't mind.
At the moment, my setup is working well enough that I'm not going to mess with it any more -- until I have another problem.
In the big picture, howver, I am seriously considering moving to a new Wireless-N router and notebooke cards and installing third-party firmware. I'm hearing some good things about that combination that interests me.
Deep down, I really wish that Linksys had made the SRX models upgradable to Wireless-N with a firmware update. Of course, then they can't get another $200 for new hardware. Marketing, I guess.
    Thanks.

  • HP Wireless Printers cannot connect to WPA2-secured WiFi networks with Cisco/Meraki WAPs

In the last two months, I've had the displeasure of working with two very different HP printers and attempting to make them work on a WPA2-secured wireless network.  All attempts to authenticate fail with "invalid phassphrase".
I'm not the first person to encounter this, it's a problem with many different HP wireless printers (I just happen to have physical access to the OfficeJet Pro 8610 & Deskjet 3511).
My equipment is a Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall running ASA 9.1x & Cisco Aironet 1142 running IOS 15.3.x.
What does work on the WPA2/AES SSID:  Apple MacBook Air running OSX 10.10.2, Three Windows-Based laptops running Windows 8.1 Update 1, an iPhone 5s, Three Windows Phone 8.1 devices, Roku 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Sharp Aquos TV, Amazon Streaming Stick, and an Android Tablet (Jellybean).  Basically, everything.
What does not work on the WPA2 network:  OfficeJet Pro 8610 & Deskjet 3511.
To test the theory there is a problem with HP's implementation of WPA2 with regard to Cisco Aironet IOS, I built out a second SSID that only works in WPA/TKIP mode.  This solution works.  Both HP printers will join the WPA/TKIP network.
So, I'm able to demonstrate there is a certain connectivity issue.  When i look at AAA Debug on the WAP's console, I can observe the HPs attempt to authenticate "Bind I/F" on the WPA2 SSID, however they do not achieve authentication and do not pass the AAA phase.  However, on the WPA SSID, they bind and authenticate successfully.
To help illustrate this, here is my WAP running config.  It's about as simple as it can get.  There is no relevant MAC filtering or ACLs bound to any interface.  Noting that I have an ACL on remote access to the WAP (i.e. Locked down to SSH, disabling telnet).  The main point being that the ASA firewall is not a factor in this problem as the issue is at the WAP before WPA2 authentication can complete, therefore the printers never reach the network / when the printers connect to the WPA network, the operate fully & correctly.
If anyone at HP can indicate why this particular config is somehow improper or broken, that would be fantastic.  There should be no reason why Cisco / Meraki WAP owners have to lower wireless encryption standards just for a printer, be forced into wired, create separate SSIDs with lower encryption specifically for a device.

I get the same behavior with a laserjet m451nw. I need to enable tkip to get the printer working, it doesn't support pure aes-ccm (every other device here supports pure aes-ccm, even cheap ones), although it's advertised as working.
The following snippet of config works, but I still think it should work without the tkip "hack".

  • HP PhotoSmart 7510 suddenly has severe connectivity issues

I have a HP PhotoSmart 7510 printer since about 2 months. Initial setup worked like a charm and the printer has been working pretty much perfectly for the last 2 months. Wireless printing, scanning and internet access on the printer (e.g. for Facebook photos) all worked. Just from time to time i would get the occasional (mildly annoying) message on my computer saying "scan to computer is currently unavailable" but it usually worked itself out and whenever I needed it to work, it did work.
But since a few days ago, it has some severe connectivity issues. I didn't change any settings on the printer, router or computer - the issues just started appearing by themselves. I startet getting much more frequent messages on my computer saying "scan to computer is currently unavailable". I noticed I couldn't print anymore, and restarting computer, printer and/or router didn't help at all. The only thing so far i managed to print wirelessly since the problems started were the first 5 pixel rows of an image I tried to print, the rest didn't transmit.
It seems the printer still connects to the WLAN but printing and scanning no longer work, and whenever I try to access a web service on the printer (like Facebook) it says it has no internet connection, even though the WLAN light is lit up (not blinking) and all the wireless status reports say "congratulations, no problems found" and display IPs etc. just like normal.
I looked at the threads "PhotoSmart 7510 connects to router, but not to the web.", "Wireless printer (HP Photosmart 7510) not connecting to network" and "Photosmart 7510 won't connect to Web Services" but they weren't a big help. Activating EWS didn't work because even though the printer showed its IP address to be 192.168.1.3, when I entered this in my web browser it didn't find the printers configuration page.
I tried the following steps from one of the threads:
    1. Restore the Network defaults
    2. Unplug the printers power cord while it is still on. Leave it unplugged and walk to the router.
    3. While the router is still on, unplug the power cord from the router, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the router. Once plugged back in the router should power on automatically.
    4. Plug the power cord back into the printer. Once plugged back in the printer should power on automatically.
    5. Run the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconnect the printer to your wireless network.
    6. Try enabling Web Services.
I followed these steps exactly. Interestingly, even though I had done step 1 and restored the network settings to factory defaults, after turning back on, the printer somehow still had its old settings saved and reconnected to the network.
It seemed to have fixed the problem, the printer finally had internet access again (Facebook app showed my photos) and scan to computer found my PC. But after just about 3 minutes, the printer had lost its internet connectivity again. When opening the Facebook app, it displayed the same error message it did before. And printing no longer worked as well.
So, what is wrong with this printer?! It has the newest software update by the way (I checked during the 3 minutes it had internet access.) My computer is a HP Windows 7 x64 machine (EliteBook 6930p) and the router I'm using is a Netgear WNDR3700.
I specifically bought this printer for my studies at university. In one week i have my exams and in order to study I REALLY need to be able to print some of my course materials! So any help as quickly as possible would be greatly appreciated. Or do you think this is a case for a warranty replacement, considering the printer's really strange and error-prone behavior?
    Thanks a lot!

I can assure you that it is not a router issue.  It appears to me that it is a driver compatibility with Windows OS.  After trying to get to the bottom of this since my Photosmart 7525 was new and reading just about every forum and blog, I have come to the conclusion that the issue must be related to the HP driver itself.
The issue does not seem to affect any Mac systems, and from one forum someone was able to fix it by downloading new drivers compatible with 64-bit systems (which seem to not be affected by the glitch).  But that leaves us 32-bit people stuck with the current driver which does not work.
The printer is connected with good signal to the wireless router (no matter who's router it is and what configuration is made).  The printer can be pinged from the router and any computer on the network which is not currently being affected by this issue.  However, the affected computer fails pings by either request timed out, or destination host unreachable.  Pings are successful from the affected computer to any other device on the network.  The only way to recover (at least for a few days) is to reboot the affected computer.
Also, from the display on the 7525, the network tests pass without issue.  I can also download and print content from the internet with no issues.
Please do a quick google search of this issue and you will see several THOUSAND entries of people with the same request.  This is a serious issue that people are having and everything is pointing to an HP problem (not routers, improper installation of software or drivers, etc...).  I agree with several other customers that HP should be on the hook for this fix.  I will give it another couple weeks, then back to the store for a reliable unit from another competitor (Canon, Lexmark, etc..)
Thank you in advance for escalating this issue to product engineering,
    S. Hunn
