Wireless button (f12) not working after windows 8 pro upgrade

Hi: I have seen several posts from forum members with the Broadcom wireless adapters with the same issue as you are having. I don't know if anyone was able to resolve the issue. Click on the driver tab. Click on update driver. Select the Browse my computer for software method and browse to the installation folder that was created when you ran the file. That file is located in C:\SWSetup\sp57965. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and hopefully the driver will install. That is the only idea I can come up with. I am very surprised by this as Broadcom usually has good drivers that work. Paul

I am having the same problem. Bought a dv6-7138us with Windows 7. Upgraded to Windows 8 via promo offer. F12 (Wifi toggle) key worked fine. Then updated new BIOS version "F.13". Now I cannot toggle the F12 key. The Wifi is permanently turned on (which is better than having it stuck in off), but I would like my toggle ability back. Sometimes I go to the coffee shop to type something and I don't want to run down the battery constantly searching for a Wifi signal when I don't need the net. Have you guys found a solution yet? I tried putting the PC to sleep then waking it, but the Wifi key is still stuck in the on position. Thanks.

Well, it has been a long road on the Win 10 upgrade. At first I got the same error message as above, but after deleting the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 in Win 10 using Control Panel Programs and Features and rebooting, I got into the continual BSOD upon reboot. Here are the steps I took to at least get stable on Windows 10. First, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 using the advanced feature in the BSOD recovery options. Once back in Win 8.1, I deleted the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then I downloaded the Win 10 update and re-installed it. Once that completed, I updated the Intel Graphics driver under the display adapters (on my G780 it is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, and the driver can be found at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/). Currently I am running version 10.18.10.4252 for my machine. Then, under the Device Manager, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver under the Sound, video, and game controllers. That driver is currently at 8.66.4.50 and was automatically downloaded from the web when I requested to update driver. I also changed several others settings such as Notify to schedule restart after updates are installed instead of automatic (under Settings --> Update & Security --> Advanced Options) and Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices? --> No, let me choose what to do, never install driver software from Windows Update. After that, I shut down the machine, waited a moment and booted back up. I have no idea why this helped or if it is overkill, but I am stable and running without a fear of rebooting now. Hope this helps if someone else is having this same issue.

Satellite P300 - Quick launch buttons don't work after Windows 7 upgrade

I upgraded my Satellite P300 from Vista to Windows 7 professional. Initially everything worked fine, now for some reason the inbuilt microphone and the speakers do not work. I subsequently found that none of my 'Quick Start' buttons work, ie I cannot turn them ON or OFF, so perhaps the quick start Mute button is OFF, hence no sound. A computer check of the Microphone and the Speakers confirm that they are working so I guess the Mute button is On, no sound.
Is there any way I can get the Quick Start buttons to work again or turn the mute button OFF so that I can get sound. The funny thing is the speakers work if I use Skype, but I cannot play a CD.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. After upgrading from Vista to windows 7 from the disc everything worked fine, a month later for some reason the sound just stopped. When I play a CD or select music from the computer and double click on the speaker icon I can see the music playing but there is no sound, it is muted, but why I do not know.
It is interesting that you Added Vista stuff because when I had Vista everything worked fine, I just didn't like it much. As I am a novice how did you add it. If I add something, does it run alongside Windows 7 or does it replace some bits. The reason I ask is that in Windows 7 the courser jumps around in Word making writing letters difficult, I have to disable the pointer when writing which is a pain.

HDMI Port not working after Windows 10 Upgrade

My HDMI port quit working after upgrading to Windows 10. The VGA port works fine. I have triend many of the fixes for listed for this issue for upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8/8.1. Here's whay I've done so far... 1) Downloaded the most recent drivers for my Intel(R) Graphics Card. Outcome: It said the drivers installed were newer than the driver I was installing. Tried anyway, didn't work. 2) Uninstalled the driver and let windows update it.Outcome: Black screen, then it restarted and installed the same driver it had before. 3) Tried installing the Windows 7 Driver for my Intel(R) Graphics Card. Outcome: Black screen, then it restarted and installed the same driver it had before. 4) At this point I tried the last resort. I spun around three times in a circle and spit in the corner.Outcome: Wife yelled at me and kids thought I had a demon. Please help, I use this computer in the office to connect to a 65" TV and I NEED my HDMI port.

Yeah, lot's of people on this forum have stated they have the same issue. It's not just people with Intel/AMD switchable cards either. I have an AMD 8650G + 8670M dual grapgics card and I am having the same issue.

All these devices were working fine on Win 8.1 earlier. Under Device Manager, only the generic Windows Bluetooth, Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and LE Enumerator drivers were showing (dated 21/6/2006). Under Network adapters, the driver showing was the Qualcomm Atheros QCA64x4 ver 10.0.0.62 dated 18/5/2015. I checked that this model is indeed compatible under ACER's website for Windows 10. I have also been checking the ACER drivers for Win 10 for this model but there are no new updated ones for Bluetooth. I downloaded the Win 8.1 ones and installed them but they still would not work (the Microsoft ones are still showing under Device Manager). I had to actually downgrade back to 8.1 a few days ago due to this issue but thought I would try to update to Windows 10 again hoping it would work but still no luck. I had googled but can't seem to find a solution and suspect that I need an updated bluetooth driver for Windows 10 from Acer or Broadcom. The Atheros website do not have any Windows 10 bluetooth drivers as well. I may have to downgrade again and try again in a few months time unless someone could please point me in the right direction. Yay! Success at last! Well, I had to resort to drastic measures which I was dreading and delaying. Basically, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 Then Reset PC to Factory Setting. This wiped out all data and applications/programs After getting back to default Windows 8.1, I tried pairing my bluetooth mouse and it worked I then immediately installed Windows 10 (from ISO file downloaded earlier) off a USB stick I chose the option for a clean install (this doesn't load any of the ACER bloatware) Once logging into Windows 10,I went into Device Manager and uninstalled all Bluetooth drivers Then I ran the setup for the Windows 8.1 Atheros bluetooth drivers as suggested - "LITE-ON Bluetooth_M 3rd WiFi 2x2 AC+ BT M.2 QCA NFA344_3.0.0.373_W81x64" I tried pairing my mouse and Nexus 7 and it works!!! For reference, here is my setup under Windows 10 after successfully pairing bluetooth devices. btw, interesting to see that the event log still reports some error about further installation just like earlier - probably indicates that the Win 8.1 Acer drivers are not 100% compatible yet.

SRS-X3 not working after Windows 10 upgrade

Hi. I have a Sony SRS-X3 bluetooth speaker which worked perfectly well under Windows 8.1. Since upgrading to Windows 10 it is no longer working properly. Interestingly, when it first connects it sounds great--full body sound like it should, then maybe 3 seconds later it is suddenly reduced to sounding very quiet, hollow, and tinny like (and does not get louder when increasing the volume on the computer). In Windows 10, Under Sound --> Playback, it lists 2 devices: "Headset Earphone SONYRS-X3 Hands-Free" and "Speakers SONYRS-X3 Stereo." The earphone one was initially the default one, so I tried making the Speakers one the default one--and the moment I did that, the audio cut out completely. Windows troubleshooting says everything is fine, and turning the computer volume up to max (or the volume on the SRS-X3) does nothing. Anyone have any thoughts? It's very frustrating. Thanks.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I didn't have anything flagged in the device manager though. I did manage to get it working on my own however. I watched what would happen when I first turned on the SRS-X3 while under Sound --> Playback Devices --> Playback: first the Sony Speakers device would start playing for a few seconds, and everything sounded normal; then, all of a sudden it would stop and instead the second Sony device (called "Headset earphones") would suddenly start, and that's what was causing the tinny sound. I tried setting the Speakers device to "Default" but that didn't work. The following worked for me: under Sound --> Playback Devices --> Playbackselect the Sony "Headset earphones" device, choose Properties, and set "Device usage" to "Don't use this device (disable)." Now only the Sony Speakers device plays when I turn on the SRS-X3, and the sound is great.

Audio not working after Windows 10 upgrade (Lenovo G780)

After my upgrade to Windows 10 on my Lenovo G780, it seems like my audio isn't functioning anymore. I tried to plug in my headset as well to check if I had audio coming through that, but it does not appear in the Playback Devices window when plugged. The laptop comes with Conexant SmartAudio HD and also lists High Definition Audio Device under Device Manager. Could anyone help me out and let me know if there's some problem I am overseeing. I found a page that has some Conexant software for windows 10 but I am not sure if they are updated drivers or if they even support my machine (the page does not list support for G780).
