Wireless conenction with Orange Livebox

Hello!
I have just got Orange broadband with Livebox. I have been using the famous Bramley Apple tutorial to set it up on my Powerbook and have managed to set it up an get a connection via ethernet, but when I come to go wireless and disconnect the ethernet cables, Aiport doesn't recognise the network...
Any ideas? All help greatly appreciated!
Cheers

Hi Russell,
I had the same problem with my daughters Livebox. You need to re connect via ethernet and look at the wireless settings, make a note of the WEP key the livebox is using and transfare the key to your Airport settings. Its not as easy as a standard wireless router but it does work.
Good Luck

  • Wireless pirnting with Orange Livebox

    Hi
I have Photosmart C4580 that I'm trying to connect wirelessly to a PC (which is connected by cable to the Livebox) and a laptop which is connected to the Livebox wirelessly.
I have been through the installation process several times but it kept failing on the last step, with an error message something like VSA100. I tried again, first connecting the printer to the livebox, and then installing the printer on the PC wirelessly. This time the installation finished successfully and printed a test page. However when trying to print anything I get an erro message just saying the document failed to print.
Surely it can't be this difficult??? I have had the printer for two weeks now and am unable to do anything with it!
    Please help

It doesn't look like the printer is connected.  The tool that you downloaded will display the security key used for your network.  Is this the key you entered during the setup?
The short video here will step you the process of installing the printer (note that there's no audio).  At the point where you enter the security key, you should press the "1" button on the Livebox wireless-router.
Also, it's probably best if you uninstall any C4580 SW that has been installed.
If you still have trouble, I can show you how to do a manual printer install.

  • Airport Express with Orange LiveBox and Wireless Music

I just purchased an Airport Express with the intention of using it for streaming music wirelessly to play through my AV receiver.
I managed to get this working without any problems.
However I use an orange Livebox (wireless modem) for my Internet connection.
Is it possible to use Airport for both as when I set up the Airpor Express it started its own network thus if I wanted to use it I had to switch from my Internet connection.
My Livebox and AV Receiver are in different rooms if that makes any difference.
    Cheers

Configure your AirPort Express (AX) following the directions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

  • Tecra M5 fails to obtain an IP address with Orange Livebox

I have a new Toshiba Tecra M5 notebook.
When I try to connect to my Orange Livebox wirelessly, it manages to connect but fails to obtain an IP address.
I have spent days trying everything.
I have followed previous postings on this but nobody appears to have posted a definitive answer. I have tried updating wireless lan driver etc but have got nowhere.
Somebody please help before I go nuts.

Make sure you are using the correct encryption (WEP/WPA/WPA2 with AES/TKIP and password). Eventually you might want to disable the password/encryption to check your equipment for proper function.

  • Orange Livebox & iMac 24" & Mac mini network, slow transfer using appletalk

    Hi everone
I have my 2 computers (imac 24" C2Duo and Mac mini) connecting wirelessly to my Orange Livebox wireless router to access the internet.
I want though to set up an local network to access filesharing over both of the computers. I found a tutorial and managed to turn on Appletalk and filesharing in system prefs.
The problem is that when i transfer files it takes ages to copy them over, i have full signal on both computers, and they connect really fast to the internet.
I used to have it set up on another wireless router (netgear) and it was much faster than that,
Has anyone got a similar problem? or possible solution?
    many thanks in advance!

looking through i was wondering if i bought a new aiport express base station and connected it to the livebox would it be better?
the mac mini is core duo so doesn't support n speed but my imac would would they both work? any advice would be appreciated!

  • Problem with non-wireless Orange Livebox and WRT54GS

    Hi all,
I have a non wireless Livebox modem that I was using perfectly. The livebox modem is able to connect itself to the internet, so the only thing I have to do is to plugin the laptop lan cable into the modem and it works.
So I decided to add wireless capabilities and bought the WRT54GS. I followed all the setup steps until the point when it says that it can't connect to the internet. So the setup is the following: the linksys router is connected to the livebox modem via Ethernet cable, though I don't think I need any PPPoE settings as the modem already dials in itself (it's actually also a router I guess).
Currently I'm trying to use Linksys with the Livebox using DHCP instead of PPPoE. It won't work and I don't have the Livebox PPPoE settings.
Is this a very specific scenario ??
I would really like to solve this!
    Many thanks,
    Joel

    Hi,
After some browsing on info on the internet I found how to fix the problem.
Since I have two routers chained together, their private LAN IP addresses must be in a different network. So I changed the default router private IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1
    Now it works.

  • Orange Livebox & MacBook Pro Slow wireless connection

    Hello,
Looks like we are a lot experiencing a slow or sporadic wireless connection.
I have done all updates, the MBP finds the livebox and connect properly but I have a very slow connection.
Lan connection is working fine and quick.
Please could somebody help me, this is my first Mac, if there is any tips or tricks to get a normal wireless speed.
    Cheers.

What kind of wireless router or access point are you using?
    Are you getting full signal?
Is the wireless router or access point around anything with a lot of metal or..
since you said that when you connect to your modem via ethernet then you could have a problem with your wireless infrastructure... if you have tested your wireless network with another computer and it works fine or if you went somewhere that has a hot spot then you can determine if there is an issue with your home network or an issue with the wireless card in the laptop...

  • Playing AirTunes from Mac via wifi (Orange Livebox) to Airport Express

I connect to the internet and serve a wifi network via an Orange Livebox (ADSL router + wifi) in my study. I've just bought an Airport Express with the aim of using AirTunes to stream music from my Mac to the lounge. I've also got a MacBook and ageing iBook and so use WEP instead of WPA.
Now I've managed to configure the AE to join the Livebox's network (remembering to prefix my 128-bit WEP key with a $ - took me ages to find that info) and have held the "1" button down to put it in pairing mode, but it won't give it an IP address via DHCP. I've tried configuring a static IP (10.1.1.50) using the Airport Utility which should fit in the IP range of the Livebox's LAN but although this gives me a green light, I can't ping it from my Mac.
I don't want to have to buy an Airport Extreme just to play my tunes in the lounge! Has anyone tried all this with a Livebox or similar third party wifi router?
    Thanks, Barry

Hi Bob - thanks for your reply!
I guess I need to try and find out what my bottleneck is. It could be:
    (1) My laptop connecting to my network wirelessly
    (2) My Airport Express connecting to my network wirelsssly
    (3) Both
Just thinking out loud here: your suggestion sounds like it would address (2) - if that's sufficient then my problem is solved. However, I do know that if I connect my media drive to the MBP via USB, but still have wireless connections for the MBP and Airport Express, I can get decent streaming performance. So perhaps I should try temporarily connecting the Airport Express and TC with a really long Ethernet cable to see if that is good enough when the laptop is still connected wirelessly, in which case I could then go the Ethernet powerline route.
Thanks! I guess I have a little project to keep me busy for the long weekend!
    Cheers,
    Justin

  • NB200 won't connect with my livebox

Hey, I've just got my new NB 200 today and connecting to the internet wirelessly won't work. It recognises my orange livebox and I'm sure i'm entering the WEP Key correctly but it just says it's "waiting for the network" for ages before going off having not connected. I've had problems with the livebox before but both my PC and other Toshiba laptop are still connected to the internet, so i'm just wondering if anyone knows whats wrong and how to get me on the internet?

    Hi
Are you using MAC address filtering on the router? For me it sounds like so because after entering the WEP key you cant access the network. Normally that means the MAC address of your network card will be blocked.
So you should enter this MAC address in router configuration or disable this security feature.
As R2D2 said you should also install the newest WLAN driver. Have a look on the Toshiba WLAN portal. There you can find all updates:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/
Last but not least sometimes its useful if you make a firmware update of the router. You can find it on the manufactures website.
    Bye

  • Portege M400 - WLan issues connecting Orange Livebox

    Hi
My landlord recently upgraded our WLan by introducing an Orange Livebox. I have tried everything possible to connect wirelessly to the router but to no avail.
All the other machines have connected with no/little issue/s. I have installed Configfree again, tried connecting through the Windows system as per instruction by Orange website, re-typed the WEP code several times. Tweaked the network connections, Installed the new Intel drivers and installed the Orange Livebox software. I'm running out of options very fast.
The wireless connection is found, it tries to connect but will not give me a network address, even with the lights flashing (as per Orange instructions), yet when connected through an Ethernet cable there is no problems what so ever.
I have had a look through the forum and found nothing that exactly matches my problem and tried to implement those suggestions that sound familiar but nothing has worked. Failing any advise, I will just have to phone either Toshiba, or Orange up for advice, however, I would like to be spared long conversations with people in Technical support.
    I have a Portege M400 with an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG built in adapter.
    Any suggestions anyone?
    Many thanks
    David

    Hi
In such cases its not easy to say why it happens.
One of my notebooks is not able to connect the WLan router because the router supports Wlan 802.11 BG mode and my Wlan card support A and B mode.
But you should firstly check if the Windows firewall was disabled. Then disable the encryption on the router and try to connect the notebook without the encryption.
Sometimes the MAC address filtering was set on the WLan routers. In such cases only the registered WLan cards can connect to the WLan router.
I would recommend disabling all filters, encryptions and then trying to connect to the wireless LAN. If you will be able to connect the router then you could enable the encryption again.

  • New iPad won't connect to Orange Liveboxs router...

New iPad 16gig wifi won't connect to Orange Livebox router...
I can see the router available as a choice in a list of wireless routers(presumably the neighbours' as well), I can select it, it changes from Gray to Black but then removes itself from the window...
I DO get a message about the 'base station', does this indicate a router issue?
I have a G5PPC imac working and a G4 powerbook and an iPhone all on this wireless connection - I can switch iPhone wifi on and off and the Livebox is readily found...
I also have access to a 10.6 macbook and it's network choice behaves in this fashion also - ethernet OK but no wireless....

I had the same problem. Unfortunately it seems that the Orange Live Box, which was previously the Wanadoo Live Box, is not compatible with a Mac. You can confirm this in the instructions for the Live Box. Completely rubbish and hopefully after mass buying of Apple products will convince Orange to upgrade their technology.
The solution that I use is to use a second router plugged in to the Live Box and connect to that instead. I can recommend the FONERA SIMPL from http://www.fon.com/en/product. I've now bought 2 as my parents also use the Orange Live Box at their house.
    Hope that helps.

  • Wireless router for Orange broadband - please help!

    Hi all,
I've recently purchased a refurbished MacBook. I'm really happy with it but I've just discovered that I can't use the SpeedTouch USB modem that Orange provided with their Starter Package and have been happily using with my PC laptop. Apparently it's something to do with the modem being incompatible with Intel processor Macs?
As far as I can tell there is no way around it (or maybe there is?) and I think I now have two options:
    1) upgrade my broadband package and get a Livebox for an extra £5 a month, or
    2) pay for an alternative wireless router.
The first one I don't mind doing but it'll be a hassle. The latter I'm not sure about as I'm not at all sure that an alternative router will work with the package I have with Orange. Can anyone who is more technically-minded give me some advice? Please??
    Thanks
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

USB modems are inherently troublesome and problematic since they usually require a firmware update after an OS update is released for Windows or for OS X depending on what is included with the update.
Ethernet modems are the way to go which don't require firmware updates.
But if this a combination modem/router, then a USB connection to your Mac is not in play.

  • Airport Express / Orange-LiveBox

Dear collective Brain of the Apple,
I have a intel 20" wifi'd to a Orange "LiveBox" wireless router. It works fine and is rock solid with connectivity to the internet.
I bought an AirPort Express to connect iTunes to the home stereo. It worked great for about three days - then it disconnected. Green light is still on but imac doesn't see it. If I reset the express and tell Airport set-up to connect it - it does and iTunes sees it but can't connect to it. After a few minutes of wheel spinnining it gives up and defaults to computer speaker.
itunes 7.01 is in and I've just downloaded the latest OX update - 10.4.8
I've done this routine several times now and need help.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Talmon,
my guess is that in the meanwhile your Livebox changed it's state. I know Orange did a large update in october and it may be the reason of thischange in the LB state.
But sometimes it happens to me also, not with my airport express, but with my wifi printer.
I suggest you could check if the MAC address filter is on. Then you can try to have the Airport express recognized again by pressing the "Reg" button beneath your LB meaning you'll force the LB to recognize any wifi device that is connected.
All this rely on the hypothesis of a MAC filtering status (you can test it by deactivating MAC address filter in the admin section of the LB : you should hear again your music on the distant device.
    Yours,
    Fabinho

  • Orange Livebox again!!

Arghhhhhh ive tried all day to try and connect to my orange livebox with the i touch! With absolutely no joy! Tried changing settings on inventel, and tried using the number 1 button on the livebox. Just keeps coming up with the message unable to join the network. It is getting no information ie IP address from the livebox. and ive even tried selecting other networks and typing it in manually! can any one help with this? I have the new software for the i touch 1.1.2 do you think this is the problem?

When I set-up my Orange Livebox for the first time at the weekend, I managed to pair both devices after pressing the number 1 button (initially I had trouble joining the network - for some reason it hasn't worked in your case).
Earlier this evening, I upgraded the iPod's software to version 1.1.2 (3B48b) via iTunes v7.5.0.20. I have since purchased music wirelessly from the iTunes store on the iPod Touch without a problem.
I haven't changed any settings on the Inventel configuration pages - they are the factory defaults. I upgraded the Livebox's firmware yesterday evening and it's currently INVENTEL version : v5.08.3-uk.
In +Security > Associated devices+ it lists my PC (Device Name: Sony Vaio) and the iPod Touch (Device Name *) together with their associated device addresses.
In +Security > Firewall+ this is set to Medium (default).
If there's any other settings you want me to look at, let me know.
