  • Wireless connection HP Photosmart C4780

My HP Photosmart C4780 won't connect to our local wifi network. It was connecting before I did a system reinstall, but now I can't get it to connect and I can't find any connection wizards or settings that allow me to choose a wifi network for it to connect to.
I have it connected to an iMac on MacOS 10.10 via USB. I can print, because the MacOS loads drivers when i add the printer, but when I try to use the original HP drivers and setup wizards, they crash and won't run on my OS.
Please help. This is super frustrating!

    Hey @LaneAllison,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand you're unable to connect your HP Photosmart C4780 All-in-One Printer to your wireless network.  I would like to help.
Currently, there is no HP printer driver made for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite that's compatible with your printer.  If the printer was already connected to wireless, you could click here to complete the setup by way of an 'Apple Software Update.'
Since you're effectively lacking in wireless connectivity, there are two ways in which you can re-connect your printer to your network:
    Software Setup
The simplest route, if you happen to have another computer (Windows XP up to Windows 8.1) is to connect the printer to that via usb and click here to download the HP Printer Install Wizard.  You can use that utility to install the printer via usb and then convert the setup to wireless.  With that new wireless connection intact, you'll be able to click here and complete your printer-to-Mac Yosemite connection.
If you don't have a PC available to work with there is another setup option available that might work.  Try the following:
    Ad-Hoc Network Setup
Access your printer's wireless menu from the front panel
    Restore Network Defaults
Next, on your Mac, go into your wireless settings and choose the HP Setup network
Next, open up Safari (or another browser) and type in 192.168.223.1 and hit Enter/Return to access your printer's Embedded Web Server.
From there click on the Networking Tab and then click on the Wireless sub-menu heading
Next, click to run the Wireless Setup Wizard
This will allow you to manually connect to your wireless network.  With that connection confirmed, click here to finish your printer setup on the Mac.
Let me know if you run into any issues in either setup method presented above - I'm always happy to help.
Have a great day and thanks again for posting in the HP Support Forum!

  • Wirelessly connecting HP Photosmart 7510 printer to 64-bit Windows 7 computer

I'm setting up a new printer, and I have never printed wirelessly before. The printer is connected to the wireless network, but the computer can't find it. The printer's wireless network test results show that wireless is working. When I install the HP photosmart software on the computer, and it gets to the "Network Check" window, it just stalls there without finding any printers. Obviously, the computer is connected to the wireless network because I'm posting this online. Seems like the problem is with the printer driver software? I also tried downloading the Home Network Diagnostic Utility. From there I was able to go to the printer page and print a test page. However, I still can't print anything from the computer. If I try to add a printer in the control panel, when I search for network printers the same thing happens. It just stalls there without finding anything. Using task manager to end the program is the only way to close the window once it gets stuck. Any ideas?

    AN IMPORTANT UPDATE!
I had turned off my virus protection and firewall, and was still unable to connect to the printer, or ping it.
I could successfully ping the printer from my router, so I turned the router off and back on, re-configured the wireless setup on the printer, and I am able to connect and print again!
Even though I could connect the printer to the router, and all of my computers were connected to the internet, something on the router was preventing me from connecting to the printer that was connected to the same network.
So I've learned that I have a printer that works fine, but I own a crappy router. Hopefully this can help someone else.

  • Wireless connection from photosmart C4380 to HP Pavilion Home PC A340N running XP Home 32 bit.

How do I get my printer to do wireless printing? What drivers do I need to install?  Do I need to setup a network?
How do I get the printer to be set on "Direct?"  How do I get the printer to have the same SSID as my router?
Presently, the blue wifi light is on, on the printer, so I know it is receiving a wifi signal, but the printer and router are not talking to each other because the printer will not print without the cable.  Also will this old model of printer ever be compatible with windows 8.1?  Or, my android phone-( using the eprint app).  Need help...Thanks in advance.

    Hi 2PHD-s,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues putting your Photosmart C4380 onto your home wireless network.
I have included a document with detailed steps on how to get your printer onto your wireless network.  By following the steps in the document the printer should be on the same SSID as your router.
The drivers for your printer for Windows 8.1 have been released now.  If you are upgrading your current XP machine, I would recommend that you uninstall the printer before doing the upgrade.  Once you have upgraded the computer to Windows 8.1 I recommend that you use HP's Printer Install Wizard for Windows 7 and Windows 8 as it will find the best driver for your printer.
For your question regarding printing from your Android phone, I have included another document about printing from your Android device with printers that don't have HP ePrint support.

  • I HAVE A HP PHOTOSMART C4700 AND I CANNOT CONNECT IT WITH MY IPAD 2 TO PRINT

I have Photosmart C4700 and want to print from IPad Air 2. Is my printer airprint? If not, is there a way to print from the Ipad or will I need to get a new printer? If I need a new printer...do you have a list of suggested printers that would be similar to the one I have that IS airprint. This printer is used in a cabin seasonally and the cost of replacing cartridges is a factor as we never use one up, but it dries out as the printer is off 8 mos of the year in cold climate. Thanks.

    Hi,
Your printer is not airprint enabled but you should be able to use the HP ePrint app on it.
The most straight forwad way to print wirelessly using the eprint app is to make sure that both the ipad and the printer are connected to the same wifi network.
Once this is complete, download the HP eprint app and print from within the app. Once everything is connected to the same network, you'll see your printer from within the app and be able to print to it.

  • After downloading Yosemite, my HP Photosmart D110 printer will no longer work. The wireless connection is fine but says it cannot find my printer when trying to print.

After downloading Yosemite my printer, a HP Photosmart D100 will no longer print. The wireless connection is fine, and a test page printed perfectly directly from my printer. When trying to print from my computer, it says it cannot connect or find the printer. I tried downloading the most updated software from HP website but it doesn't appear to be helping.

    Try resetting the printing system.
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
If you have the printers IP address open Terminal (applications/Utilities) and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.

  • Can No Longer Connect Wirelessly to HP Photosmart D110 after Comcast All-in-One Modem Upgrade

    Hello,
I just replaced my former modem +router setup with a new "all-in-one" "Wireless Gateway 1" modem from Comcast (model # TC8305C). The setup guide for the new modem states: "The Wireless Gateway 1 is an all-in-one product that connects XFINITY internet and home networking. It provides wired and WI-FI connectivity, so there's no need for a separate router." I was previously able to connect wirelessly to the Photosmart D110 from my laptop. When I tried to update the network information on the printer sing the printer's Wireless Setup Wizard, the network name did not appear in the list of available networks. I added the name, as requested, and then added the network password associated with the new modem. However, the printer's Wireless Network Test Report said that "the printer cannot find my wireless router." Specifically, the Test said that the new network name was found, but said that the passcode was incorrect. I repeated the setup 3 times and did type the network passcode correctly. Will the printer not work wirelessly due to the new all-in-one modem? Is there a way to remedy this? I apologize for being pathetically non-technical, and would be grateful for any assistance! Thanks.

OK, first wireless Gateway (modem/router combo) units are terrible for wireless connection. It is always, always best to use a separate modem and router in your network that YOU have control over instead of Comcast. If you have your old router it would be best to call Comcast and have that Gateway put in Bridge mode (disables the router section) and connect your own high quality router. With that said, let's try this. Set the router to a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto'. If you still can't connect, remove all security off the routers SSID. Now try to connect to your SSID with no security. Are you successful?

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a is no longer printing through wireless connection.  Appreciate any suggestions...

Hello.  My HP Photosmart Plus B209a all in one printer stopped working through wireless connection yesterday.  I have tried to delete the printer and reinstall using HP Setup Assistant, but when I attempt to configure the device for a wireless network, the HP Setup Assistant quits unexpectedly. I can succesfully set up the printer, but only for use with a USB cable.  I noticed that there was an HP printer software update installed yesterday version 2.16.1. Could this have anything to do with it?  I read something about airprint in the support discussions but I dont see the nearby printer option anywhere?  I checked the list of compatible printers and mine is on there so I am not sure what I am missing here.  I would hate to go out and buy a new printer.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I have the same printer but my problem stems from installing a new router. I went through the exact same steps that you did and the HP Installer crashed on me 5 different times at the exact same spot. I called HP and got through to them and after 15 minutes he informed me that this particulart printer is no longer "supported" and software is not available. I told him that I downloaded the update that was available today. He was no help whatsoever. I also can print via USB but that is not at all what I want. The downside of this printer anyways is that it is not Airprint compatible. So, its either reinstall the old router or buy a new printer. This *****!

  • Error while wirelessly connecting Photosmart C5280 to Apple Macbook

I have a Photosmart C5280 All-in-One connected to my PC computer. While trying to wirelessly connect my Apple Macbook to the printer this error occured: Cannot Connect to the Printer Using the Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit Connection Manager in an Infrastructure Network
    How do I fix this?

No - it won't work - AppleTV gets it's data via iTunes.
iTunes fetches data from wherever it is be it attached/internal/network drive, then relays it across the network to AppleTV.
Being able to access an iTunes style library on a NAS or similar would be great in principle but it's not possible in practice.

  • Photosmart 6180 All-in-One Wireless Connection After Windows 7 Laptop Added to Network

I replaced a broken Vista laptop with a new Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  After I installed my Photosmart 6180 All-in-One, the printer stopped working correctly when we try to connect to it wirelessly.
I followed all the directions HP provides for updating the printer software and drivers for Windows 7.
We've tried all the suggestions for resetting the printer that we can find on the HP forums.
The printer works properly when connected via USB cable to a Vista laptop.
I was not able to get the printer to work via USB cable connected to the Windows 7 laptop.
When we try to connect via the wireless signal, regardless of Vista or Windows 7, the printer goes into an endless initialization loop.
We need to determine whether achieving a wireless connection is hopeless.  If it is not, we need step-by-step instructions on how to resolve the issue.
The security system for the printer is WEP.  We connect through a wireless router provided by Verizon FIOS.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Some of HP's printers do not support WEP shared.  If you are using WEP shared this could be the problem.  I would suggest turning off the WEP security temporarily to see if that fixes the issue.  If it does then you can look at changing the security to WEP Open system authentication.

  • Cannot connect wirelessly to HP Photosmart C4380 with new driver/software

I have been using my HP Photosmart C4380  for years without a problem.  I've upgraded to OS X Yosemite v.10.10.4 and with that I regularly do automatic driver updates through the Apple Software Update.  Recently my wireless connection to the printer stopped working.  In the past I simply reconnected it via USB and ran the Network Wizard Setup app to reconnect it to the network.  I can't seem to find that app anymore with the new software updates.  I've tried configuring it through the new HP Utility app to no avail.  The Setup New Device and HP Auto Wireless Connect options cannot locate my printer unless connected to USB and will not give me an option to configure the network settings. I have referenced http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04510394/ also with no luck.  The printer does not have a Wireless Wizard Setup on it's LCD options as per Step 1 under the wireless connection instructions.  And the WPS option in Step 2 does not work becuase the wifi button on the printer only brings up the Network  menu where my only options are to turn the wireless radio on/off and to print a configuration page.  There are no options to connect to a network. Connecting the printer to my laptop via USB works in a pinch if I need to print something, but I'd like to not be tethered to it and restore my wifi connection which used to work in the past.

I reset the printing system.  Still not having any luck. I can only get my printer as far as a temporary 169.254.207.168 IP address.   That brings me to this page with two tabs. In this tab, I'm able to change the SSID to my network and add the WEP.  I've tried both Infrastructure and Ad Hoc (since I didn't know which to use) but both have not been successful.   The page times out after awhile and I click my wifi setting to check the connection.  I can then connect to my printer whose name has changed from hpsetup to my network name...but is still listed under devices.   So I click on that device and run another newtork config page and I still get the same 169.254.207.168 IP address. So then I tried two things:1. Switching over to my actual wifi network with the name network name.  This does not read my printer anymore and I get an 0.0.0.0 IP address2. While connected to the network listed under devices, I tried adding the Printer in my Printer & Scanner settings.  This works and prints, but only when connected under the devices wifi, and not my normal wifi.  When I switch to my normal wifi and try to print, it can no longer find the printer.  I seem to be having trouble getting an 192.168 IP address for my printer so that it can read on my normal Wifi network without being listed as just a device....

  • Connect hp photosmart plus b209 printer to verizon fios wireless router

Having trouble connecting HP Photosmart Plus B209 printer to verizon fios wireless router in order to access printer via home wireless network.  The WPS (push button) connection option is not available on the current software version of router (VERIZON M1424WR rev.1  (Mfg. ACTIONTEC)).  So, need to know how to connect via the PIN option.
Normally, to connect a wireless device (like this HP printer) to the network, the device would input the router's security pin (e.g. WEP key).  But I can't figure out how to input the router's WEP key via the printers face screen.  And, after talking to Verizon, there is no provision to enter the printer's pin within the router's control setup online.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks.

  • PhotoSmart 310a doesn't print using wireless connection

First... I have to say that if I had known what a HUGE pain in the butt this printer was I would never have bought it.  On top of that, the thing apparently doesn't have an option to "hard wire" connect it to my computer... which the guy at the store didn't bother to point out.  On top of that HP's customer service is, apparently, non-existent, as attempts to reach by phone are useless.
They can't even seem to get the model number on the machine where you can find it... so the instructions on "how to find your model number" are useless.
That said... here is my problem... which if I can't fix, I'm simply returning this and getting something else.
I have my printer all set up.  Wireless is set up.  ePrint is set up.  Test pages print fine.
I have actually been successful printing with it ONE time.... so I know that it can do it.
It does give me a "low signal" message - however it seems to have no problem printing using the email option, or downloading from the web for the "reports."   It scans and my laptop "sees" the scanned image, which is transmitted over the wireless network.   If it is truly a low signal problem it seems like it would have issues with other functions regarding the internet.
BUT... when I send something from my laptop (MacBook OSX 10.5.8) to the printer it says...
    .. connecting
    .. idle
    .. priinting (%)
.. then the print job disappears from the queue in the dialog box ... yet nothing actually prints out.
.. it then say's "Printer Ready" - I guess ready for another print job that it won't perform.
.. It does NOT give any kind of error code... say it's "paused" or anything like that.  It's as if it THINKS it is printing... but it does not.  It makes no sound like it's trying to print either.  Paper is loaded in fine and it will print test pages with no problem and doesn't indicate any problems on those other than "low signal"
... When I use the "printer utility" to print a test page - also goes wireless - it prints just fine.
I've tried to use this printer only 4 times now for various jobs... and each time has been an ordeal lasting from 30 minutes to several hours.    I've managed to get it to print on one occasion... though I can not remember how I did it.
It has NO problem printing from an email... so I guess I could just always do it that way... but it involves several extra steps to do so and I'm not even sure it would work for every type of print job I need.
    It works fine scanning
    It works fine photocoping
It works fine printing from ePrint (email)
It just DOES not print via the wireless connection
I don't understand how a company can make something this sophisticated and not have it give you an ERROR CODE when it fails to complete a function... and frankly, I'm fed up with this thing.  It's a big, oversized, shiny paperweight and I've wasted way too much of my time trying to figure it out.  This is one last ditch effort.
Can anyone help?    THANKS so much if you can!
    Sue

It is more likely a network problem, so please tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
In the mean time, you could try this quick trick; resetting the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Oh, and indeed this printer does have a USB port for connection directly to your computer.  It does NOT have an Ethernet port for connection directly to your router.
