Wireless connection keeps stopping

Well I have done everything possible to get Vista Service Pack 2 installed......had to go back to original clean install and do all of my updates prior to installing my other software.
NOW THE WIRELESS WON'T STAY CONNECTED!  It keeps dropping then reconnecting like it is refreshing the IP address.  I have gone into the device settings and disabled the "turn off" feature, what next?????
I saw one post about downloading an update but no luck there either.....................INTEL WIRELESS WIFI LINK 4965AG............
Any suggestions............I keep getting disconnected from my FTP connections while editing files and using dreamweaver........frustrating as all heck...........I have to keep trying to resync my whole site after each incident because I am uncertain what went through................midway through the whole site analysis the wireless drops again............
I have been working for over 2 months on trying to get SP2 installed and I had to go through a complete reformat now this **bleep** headache...............................
Has anyone resolved the wireless issues......................
Thanks

I had the same problem under Vista Service Pack 1.  I spent weeks upgrading to Service Pack 2 as it would not install correctly unless I reverted back to a "clean" factory install using ThinkVantage.
Needless to say I lost weeks of productivity with lost connections and reinstalling additional software.  I still seem to drop connection with the wireless.  The wireless will turn off by itself.  I have changed the properties for power management on device settings so Windows will not turn it off.  At times I need a complete reboot in order to turn on the device.  When it goes out it will not even show at times on ThinkVantage.  When it does show on ThinkVantage it will not turn on and off using ThinkVantage.
I wonder if anyone has changed wireless cards and if so how that may have solved problems.  I am almost at the point where I have lost so much productivity and potential income from constantly fixing this problem that I may buy another laptop........probably not a Lenovo.
I still believe that there is a conflict between Windows Vista and ThinkVantage.  I have tried disabling startup on Windows Wireless Lan in hopes that I could use just the ThinkVantage............no luck there!
I figure there should be some good deals on laptops with students going back to college this time of year.  I can not keep losing valuable productivity, potential customer aquisitions and loss of corporate work because of this ongoing problem.
Seeing all of the various postings relative to this problem one would think that Lenovo would have an update patch to correct this problem.  When you buy a product from the best reputable company you would believe that you get the best support, technical assistance and continuous improvement.
IF ANYONE HAS CHANGED WIRELESS CARDS FROM THE INTEL 4965AG TO ANOTHER LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MADE OUT.............
Thanks

  • My wireless connection keeps failing.

    My wireless connection keeps failing.  I turn off the wireless and it resets and works however it is temporary.  Any suggestions.  I bought my Airport Extreme 11/2012

    Hey there Chrismcknz,
    It sounds like your Wi-Fi connection from your Airport is dropping and when power cycled works for a very short period of time before stopping again. I would next try a hard reset, and test the issue. Then if needed reset it to factory default and test again. The following article explains what the resets do, and how to do them:
    Resetting an AirPort base station FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728
    Hard reset: Resets the base station back to an unconfigured state, but retains the last saved configuration and any profiles so you can restore your base station from previous settings.
    Factory default reset: The same as a hard reset but also removes any saved configurations or profiles.
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Wireless connection keeps disconnecting - Satellite C650 16U

    Hi
    My wireless connection keeps disconnecting frequently and I have to manually reconnect it. I don't think it is a router issue as this doesn't happen with other laptop that is used in my house. Any ideas why this is?
    Thanks

    Hi mate
    I recommend checking the power saving settings in Win 7 power management.
    There you can change (disable) the power saving for WLan card.
    This helped in my case.
    Please also check this thread:

    As I said; power management setting is the key you should also update the WLan driver!

  • Hp office jet 6700 (Mac)-wireless connection keeps failing...

    Hi-I am hoping that someone has a solution for this. We have an HP Officejet 6700 that has worked flawlessly till last week. The wireless signal keeps dropping. I think that is the issue because if I go into Setup on the printer itself and go to Network and start all over with finding my router, it works fine. For one print job. Then if I have something something else to print I have to go through that whole setup routine again.
    If I just go to Print it says locating printer and then it says that the printer is not connected. What is going on?? Very frustrated. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (I downloaded the driver from the HP website). That didn't fix it. I saw that there was a firmware update but couldn't install it even though I plugged my laptop into the printer with a USB cord.
    Something is going on that I don't have a clue in how to fix it. I really appreciate any help. Thank you, Judy

    Hi mrstucci,

  • Wireless connection keeps disappearing on ibook

    I have an iBook G4, along with a PC laptop. Recently I've had to reconfigure the iBook network configurations almost every time after the computer has gone to sleep. It's not difficult to do, but it is annoying. The only thing that I can think is that I recently upgraded to Leopard (10.5.8). Does anyone know whether there is a glitch with Leopard that's causing me to lose my network connection?

    I actually have the same problem that Hunter has. It is extremely frusterating to see the wireless connection work so well one minute then the next it does't work. I have the same model and version Router that he has. My laptop works perfectly on other wireless networks (at school, friends houses, etc.) but not here in my own house. When my friends bring their laptops over here, they don't seem to have a problem holding onto a connection with my network. Their laptops work perfectly but not mine. I recently ran a diagnostics scan on my network and this is what I got... 00000012] Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (FAILED),DefaultIPGateway = 192.168.1.1(Same Subnet) (FAILED) Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data:

    If anyone knows what I can do to fix this issue I would love to know. I've heard things about downloading firmware, I tried that but couldn't get it to work because it was in a BIN file and im not sure what program to use to extract that file.....Thanks

  • Internet slow and wireless connection keeps dropping

    So, my iMac crashed and I had to reinstall. That really sucked.
    Pre-crash I was amazed by the speed and reliability of my internet connection. We're talking girlish glee.
    Post-crash/reinstall, my internet is a plodding monster that takes forever to load simple websites at times and drops the connection a couple of times a week.
    Can anyone help? I'm assuming it's a software issue since my wireless connection was fast and reliable before reinstalling.

    Hi,
    If you are still having problems.......
    I'm assuming it's a software issue since my wireless connection was fast and reliable before reinstalling.
    Try changing the Airport channel.
    Open AirPort Utility (Applications/Utilities)
    Select the device you’re setting up on the left and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary.
    Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
    Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.
    If that doesn't help, on your iMac, go to /Library/Preferences. Move all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash, restart the iMac.

  • Why does my wireless connection keep failing?

    Each time I boot up my MBP, the wireless connection does not work. I have to go through the self diagnostics after bootup and then it works fine. Anyone know why this is happening?

    figured it out...no issue after all

  • Wireless Connection Keeps disconnecting and reconnecting

    I recently got a new router to replace my old one (which had the same issue) and it frequently disconnects randomly for a couple seconds then reconnects again. This seems to only happen to anyone using wireless connections and not when its connected with an Ethernet cable. I've even changed the router channel and the problem still persists and its not near anything the could disrupt the signal so I don't understand.

    With the same issue on 2 routers, it's probably not a defective router.  But it could be the settings.  As Matt suggested check your security settings and the wireless mode.  If all of your devices are "n" use performance mode.  Otherwise use compatibility mode.
    Inssider (available for free at the following link) will show you other devices and enable you to pick the best channel.
    http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/
    Is the problem is on multiple devices or just one?  If it's only one the issue could be the wireless card.
    Since it is a wireless problem think about distance and obstruction.  They will reduce signal strength and could cause intermittent problems.  Try testing close to the router and see if the same problem occurs.  Router positioning can improve signal quality.  Don't overlook little things.  Example: many users stand the router up.  I found that I get better reception with it laying on it's side.  And one of my laptops has a significant change in performance by rotating it 90degrees.  The kind of problem you are having may need some trial and error research to solve.

  • The wireless connection keeps going away and I need to power off and on the time capsule to get the wifi network up

    Time Capsule wifi access very poor. it keeps disconnecting and i need to power on and off thr router to get the wifi connection back again. When it works its so slow, it works only in the roms nearby and not even upstairs in my home!

    I cannot work from the serial number.. I need the model number. A1xxx in the rubber .. in the rubber.. for Gen1-3.. 2010 is probably Gen3 but can be early Gen4.
    Follow up questions:
    How do i take the firmware back to 7.6.1 or 7.5.2
    wireless names are Room of requirement and Leaky Cauldron - Is that too long a name?
    How do I set fixed wireless channels?
    Can relocate. Its in the main level of the house to give me access upstairs in the bedrooms and down in the basement,
    Change firmware.. hold down option whilst clicking version.
    Wireless names.. short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. yes.. your names are wrong.. from my point of view.. more they do not obey the rules.. no spaces.
    Check C9 here why this is important.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
    Fix wireless channels.. option page in wireless are of utility.. you need to spend more time in the utility so you know what is there.
    Location is everything.. sometimes you simply need more than one device.. wireless has limited range. Use ethernet or EOP - homeplug adapters to place another AP in area closer to your position.

  • Wireless Connection keeps fluxuating

    I have had this problem 7 times straight now, and I'm getting extremely frustrated with it. I dropped my macbook on my desk rather roughly and since then, my airport connection has been fluxuating horribly.
    The wireless symbol will go on and off, on and off, on and off, 4 or 5 times before completely shutting off and I have to re-start to get it to work again.
    I'm assuming from the behavior it's exhibiting that it means I have to re-adjust the airport card, and that it slipped out somehow. I thought I would post here first for other ideas about the situation, before taking it to the apple store for repairs.
    Does anyone know what else it could be, or what I could do to fix the situation?

    Try launching System Profiler when the AirPort card is exhibiting the issue and keep hitting refresh. See if it ever isn't detected in the profiler, might have to try it a couple of times. But there you can see on the system if there's an issue with the card. I don't know, however, if it'll assist with determining a loose connector on the card.
    The antenna appears to be held in place fairly good within the MB, but I'm sure enough "shock" motion can jar random things. If System Profiler doesn't do the trick, you may wish to just get it looked at over at the store.

  • My wireless connection has stopped working.

    Hi there. I've just bought an iBook G3/800 12" second hand. The lap-top came with an Airport card installed and I had no problems connecting up to the net. However, for some reason it has now stopped working and in the network panel it tells me that "Airport is connected to the network WLAN. Airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet." My Airport ID is 00:30:65:0d:2f:5b. I have Telewest Broadband (now Virgin Media) and have internet access on my desktop PC via a Webstar modem, which is connected up to a NexIP ISW054t router. I don't understand why this was working fine for over a week, and has now suddenly stopped. Can anyone please help?

    and have internet access
    on my desktop PC via a Webstar modem, which is
    connected up to a NexIP ISW054t router.
    Can you describe this in a little more detail.
    Is it like this?
    Internet -> Modem -> Wireless Router -> PC
    Where -> is a cable?

  • My MBA's wireless connection keeps locking up

    My MacBook Air's Internet connects wirelessly to a router.  Most of the time everything works fine.   But every now and then, when I'm on the Internet and I click on a new link, nothing happens.   I get no progress indicator telling me that things are working and to be patient.  I check the wireless signal strength meter and it shows 100%.
    Same thing sometimes when I wake the laptop up.   I open it up, the desktop displays correctly, signal strength of 100% but when I click on my Safari icon, nothing happens.   I find that if I do a restart, that will sometimes fix it.  But sometimes it still won't work, even after 3-4 restarts.  I'll even shut down and reboot, which still doesn't solve it.  Again, wireless signal strength is still 100%.
    At that point I just put it down and go use my desktop, which never has this problem.  It is also running on the same wireless router.
    Any ideas?  Thank you.

  • Wireless connection keeps disconnecting

    I have a macbook OSX etc...i'm on a BT wireless home hub...it was working fine till about 2 weeks ago..now the connection lasts for maybe 5 mins if I'm lucky before it disconnects and I have to enter my password etc...very annoying...
    is it my mac or is it BT?
    thanks,
    C23

    Coles Cross,
    Thought you may have been boosting a WiFi signal with the router. With you plugging into the router yours would be closer to the router so you wouldn't be having the problems I'm having. What I can't understand is that I'm on one of he first Intel iMacs and the web browsing is fine. The new MacBook, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I can run network diagnostics and it says I have the connection but, the browser just sits there or takes forever to load. I usually just give up on it. I go back to my iMac and all works fine. If you or anyone would know what the difference could be, I'd appreciate it.
    Oh, I have ran repair permissions program and all seems fine except each time it will have about 10 lines that all say the same thing about an iChat icon not being what it expected. Don't know if that's anything to do with it or not.

  • My wireless connection keeps shutting off in Mavericks

    Is there a workaround that a layman can do?

    Hi, JSerembe.
    Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router and Mac can resolve the issue.  However, try the steps in the article below to troubleshoot the Wi-Fi issue with your MacBook.

  • Wireless connection not working after installed newest Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update programs

    Hi, everyone!
    I've installed some newest programs through Lenovo ThinkVantage System Update and just after that my wireless connection has stopped working. Here are the installed programs:
    ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 32-bit version 15.0.24.0;
    ThinkPad Power Management Driver version 1.60;
    ThinkPad Modem Adapter version 7.80.8.0;
    ThinkPad Hotkey Features Integration Package Setup version 3.11.0001;
    Inter Wireless WiFi Link for Window XP version 13.02.0000;
    ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows XP version 5.62;
    ThinkPad Power Manager version 1.88;
    Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (32-bit) version 6.0.5514.61.
    I've got a Lenovo T61 with Windows XP SP3.
    Also in Device Manager, there are now the two "Other devices" bellow with a yellow question point and a yellow exclamation point by side:
    Bluetooth Hands-free Audio;
    Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver.
    Does anyone have any idea what can be done to have these issues solved?
    P.S.: when I click Fn+F5 it shows only the Bluetooth Radio.

    Hello and welcome,
    I've seen something like this on XP machines after updates a couple of times now - my T61, a friend's T400, and his daughter's T61.  I guess that makes 3
    _Maybe_  your situation is the same.
    The fix in all 3 cases was to go to device manager and uninstall the wifi driver.  Then scan for hardware changes and let it reinstall the driver.  Something about how Access Connections or some other networking mangement thingy was hooking the drivers I guess.
    On both of the friend's machines, the wired networking was also b0rked.  Same fix there.
