Wireless connection to HP Officejet 6500 e 709n

I cannot connect to my Officejet 6500 E709n printer on my laptop with Win 7 Pro  64bit.  I have a model MFP 400 installed in my office and it works fine.  Could there be a conflict?

Hi,
Based on its specs, it has:
Connectivity, standard
1 USB (2.0); 1 Ethernet; 1 Wireless 802.11g/b; 2 memory card slots; 1 RJ-11 fax
How do you connect it to your laptop ? Depending on you existing hardware, you can connect many printers on your network(s) to your laptop.
Regards.

  • Wireless Printing to HP Officejet 6500 E709n

I reciently changed from Droid to Iphone 5.
Using droid mobil hot spot I could connect wirelessly to my computers and my printer HP Officejet 6500 E709n.
With the Iphone 5 hot spot I can connect to my computers but with the HP printed I can see the modem during the wireless set up
but when I enter the WPA Passphrase it will not connect. I get an error print out from the HP noting, MAC address filtering may be enabled on the wireless router (I Phone5) This can prevent you HP printer from connecting to the wireless network during setup. Temperoraly disable the MAC Address filtering on the wireless router then run wireless network setup to configure the printer.
Anyone have a fix to this.

With an iphone the native printing is built in. no set up per se except your iphone has to be on the home network which you connect to via your settings then click on wifi then it will search for your home network. If you see your home network ssid then click it then on connect. if it has a pass phrase it will request it, then it will connect.
When you are looking at a web page or an email on the iphone you need only click on the circular arrow. Select print and then select the wireless printer from the selections found. in my house I use an hp D410a All in one and a new Canon Pixma 3220 which is set up on my home network. I select the printer I want and it prints via air print .
You do not need an HP Printing app for the Apple iPhone. As long as you have set up the HP Printer or any wireless printer to your network the iPhone will print to it. No special drivers are necessary.
Hope that helped? if not post back.

  • Can't configure Wireless Connection to HP OfficeJet Pro L7780

I recently purchased both my iMac 24" 2.8GHz computer with OS x 10.5.2 and HP OfficeJet Pro L7780. I was able to use the HP setup CDs for my Windows laptops and configured them to use the printer in a wireless configuration.
The iMac is creating the headache (actually I think it's HP causing the headache). When I try to install HP's driver 9.7.1 using their utility, it is unable to detect the L7780 in a wireless configuration. The moment I connect via USB or wired Ethernet, the printer is detected without a problem. My printer is located @ 192.168.1.30, fixed IP address via a NetGear FSW308 switch. My iMac is fixed @ 192.168.1.100 and the gateway is 192.168.1.1
I spent hours on the phone with HP support and am still in the same spot... HP software won't find the printer when it is wireless. I can configure OS x 10.5.2 to use the internal L7700 series driver and put the IP address in the dialog box. The printer prints without issue using the OS printer drivers, but the other features such as scan and fax will not work without the HP software.
I can ping the printer and I can connect to the printer's EWS, but the HP software will not find the software.
Overall config: iMac wireless network connection to switch; Printer also wireless connection to switch.
So far HP is dumbfounded and all they can say is that I should call Apple because the printer software works fine when I connect the Ethernet or USB cables.
    HELP!
    Thanks,
    Roland

Thank you for the thought. Yes, although my SSID is public, I have a WEP 128-bit security key. The printer, the iMac and my Windows laptops all connect to the wireless network without issue, as evidenced by my Windows laptops and iMac (if I use the driver included with OS X 10.5.2).
I can ping the printer from the iMac as well as connect to the printer's web interface, so connectivity exists. It is as if the setup software or the printer are trying to communicate using a port that or service that OS X may be blocking.
My OS X firewall is configured to accept all connections though... so that shouldn't be the issue unless there is a bug in accepting all connections.
    Thanks,
    Roland

  • Wireless connection erratic on Officejet 276DW

Hello, my new Officejet 276DW is a bit hit and miss with the wireless printing. Its only 10m below the router but seems to lose connection after a while. I then have to power off and on ( does this get a fresh IP address?) and it will work again. Also is there any way of waking it from sleep mode apart from pressing the button, i think some one talked about sending it an email, which I tried but HPeprint seems to run at the speed of a glacier.
I did find this answer below, is it what i need??
    THANKS

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

    Let’s try this.
    1. Set a static IP in the printer (see step 6) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).
    2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click  Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer
        Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).
In the router:  (Refer to your router manual for information)
    3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
    4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
    5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
    6. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security.  Nobody can hack your
system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
    7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
    8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 5 mins.  Power on router wait 3 mins.
    9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) \ Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.
    Now try.

  • My HP dv4-2045dx won't print wirelessly with my HP Officejet 6500 E709n

My HP Pavillion laptop won't print wirelessly with my HP All In One printer.  It will print if it is hooked up, and the printer works wirelessly with my other computer.  I've uninstalled the printer and updated the drivers.  The print wizard goes through all of the steps to configure wirelessly, finds my printer, tries to connect, and fails at the last minute each time.  I believe it may have something to do with the fact that I also can't scan to my laptop.
P.S. It used to print wirelessly.  I have no idea what changed.

  • Wireless connection to HP officejet d145

I have a Linksys wireless router and print server working fine for my PC. The iMac links wirelessly to the router but not to the print server. I can get the iMac to ping the printserver but it just prints garbage. There was no print driver for the d145 listed so I downloaded one from HP. It works using a USB cable but not wirelessly. Apple says I'm out of luck. HP says its not their problem. Linksys too. Any ideas?

  • How many pcs can wirelessly connect to an Officejet P1102w printer

What limits how many separate PCs can connect to an Office Jet P1102w. Is there a limit in the printer or is the limit more likely to be in the router?

    Hi KiamaraKid,
I understand you have a Laserjet P1102W printer and are wanting to know whether there is a limit on the printer as to how many computers can connect via network, or if the limitation would be on the router's end. I will do my best to help you with this issue.
With our HP printers wireless performance depends on physical environment and distance from the access point (router). Wireless operations are compatible with 2.4 GHz routers only as well. So the short answer is that the limitation is mainly on the router.
If you can get back to me with the router make and model, I will certainly see what I can find for you about it's limitations (meaning, how many computers can connect successfully to the router and thus the printer).
Hope this helps! Have a great day!

  • System cannot find file specified during install officejet 6500

I started my HP solution center software today to do some scanning over my wireless connection.  I received a message box indicating I needed to reinstall the original software that came with my OfficeJet 6500 wireless 709n printer.  when I started the software it recieved the message 'system cannot find file specified'.  No information was given on what file it was looking for.  I then downloaded the software from the HP site (OJ_AIO_6500_E709_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe) and encountered the same result.  I hookup up my printer via USB and it appeared to go looking for driver updates.  After that the HP solution center software would run but would only connect to my printer if the USB was connected.  Still cannot run the printer software set.
I recently upgraded my windows 8 64-bit to window 8.1.  It worked before that.  This is not the only software that was broken by the process.  Any help on how I can re-establish my wireless connection to my Officejet 6500 would be appreciated.
I also tried the Microsoft 'Fixit' solutions but they are not available for windows 8.1 :-)...

    Hello All,
Try using the scrubber built into the CD or download.
    From original CD installation:
    1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer.
    2. Open  "Computer", and then right click on the CD drive and choose open.
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
    5. Run the L3uninstall.exe (near the bottom of the list).
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    8. Restart the computer.
    9. Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard.
    10. When it comes to the screen asking to accept the terms, don't yet. There will be a few options near the top of the Window. I need you to choose "Connection settings" or "Internet connection usage settings" (It will be something similar to what I just stated). It will give you the options to turn off automatic updates, I will need you to change all of these options to "Off" / "No".
    11. Once they're set to "Off" / "No", continue with the installation like you did before.
If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
    1. Type %temp% in the run field
    2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
    5. Run the L3uninstall.exe (near the bottom of the list).
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    8. Restart the computer.
    9. Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard.
    10. When it comes to the screen asking to accept the terms, don't yet. There will be a few options near the top of the Window. 11. Once they're set to "Off" / "No", continue with the installation like you did before.
Also, make sure all of the Windows Updates have been completed.
Let me know if this works.

  • Need IP location of Officejet 6500 E709n

I am trying to connect to HP Officejet 6500 E709n.  My Mac indicated that I have installed the print driver but that I am not connected.  One screen asks for the location.  Where do I find that information.  What else do I need to do to connect wirelessly to this printer?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, do you have a wireless router already set up and functioning?
    https://h20563.www2.hp.com/p/_wireless/wireless-basics.html
The IP address for the printer is a numeric identifier used by your wireless network. It will be a number of the form ###.###.###.### (likely 192.168.1.###) that should appear on the Network Configuration page of the printer.
HP recommends using a USB cable connected to your computer before installing the HP drivers for OS X, even if you want to eventually set up the printer wirelessly.
Quoting from the HP support page:
"Sometimes the software has difficulty finding the printer over the network. If this happens, you will have a chance to do an "advanced search" for the printer using the printer's assigned IP address. You can find the IP address by printing either the Wireless Network Test report or a Network Configuration page.
If this is a first time installation and you are using the USB setup of the wireless method, the software will not find the printer on the network and you will be guided though creating a wireless connection for the printer." (Emphasis mine).

  • Officejet 6500 network problems

Can anyone tell me why my new officejet 6500E709N recognizes my home network name  but will not recognize my wep key when I enter it?

How long is your WEP key?  Does the key only contain numbers and the letters A through F?
Also, do you know if your wireless-router's WEP index is set to 1?  From the front panel wireless setup wizard, the Officejet 6500 only supports WEP  index 1.

  • Computers Can't Find OfficeJet 6500 Wireless Connection

For a while, my OfficeJet 6500 709n worked perfectly for a week or two over my wireless network. For reasons I cannot understand, none of my computers can see it anymore. It shows up on the router information page, but even browsing to the printer's IP in my browser times out. (So it's not a driver issue.)
When I connect it to a wired ethernet connection, it works perfectly again, with the ability to access the browser interface. But nothing I do makes it work wirelessly again.
    Help?
    Steps I've taken:
    (1) Restarted all relevant computers, the router, and the printer.
    (2) Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers (10.3 from the site)
    (3) Put the printer on a static IP address. (192.168.1.100)
    (4) Ensured all OS firewalls are off
    (5) Printed a network status page from the printer front-panel showing that everything is connected to the network
    (6) Located the printer as a connected device on my wireless router configuration page (http://192.168.1.1)
    (7) Connected through my browser to other networked devices (my Tivo) to ensure that those work. They do.
    My setup:
I have an OfficeJet 6500 709n that I use with two MacBook Pro laptops running OS 10.6.4. The whole system is networked through a Verizon FiOS router (ActionTec) with WPA encryption.
So I'm really, really stumped here. Any help at all would be wonderful.
    Thanks, all!

From the front of the printer go to Setup > Network > Reset Network Defaults.  From the Network area, now run the Wireless Setup Wizard.
Next, let's set a static IP address for the printer.  I need to know what router and security type you use.

  • Hp officejet 6500 e709n series wireless network connection issues

My HP officejet 6500 e709n series all-in-one printer was working perfectly fine the last time I used it (admittedly a couple of months ago).  Now it seems like the printer thinks it is connected to the wireless network, but the computer thinks it isn't.  I have run the wireless network test report off the printer a couple of times.  The first time it said it couldn't detect any issues.  The second time it said the only possible issue is that "MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireles router".  I have NO IDEA how to turn that off.  I also don't know why this would suddenly be an issue since the printer was working fine a couple of months ago and we haven't changed anything since then.  I have also run the network configuration page off the printer and it seems to think everything is fine.
When I run the troubleshooter off my computer (hp pavilion running Windows 7) it says "Printer hp officejet 6500 e709n series fax cannot be contacted over the network".  I am getting very frustrated.  How do I fix this problem?

What router?  What operating system?  Have you run the Wireless Setup WIzard from the Network menu on the front of the printer?  Do that.
