Wireless Connection with Sony PSP
I cannot my Sony PSP to the WRT54G using the wireless connection. What are the setting I need?
I have a wrt54g v5 with Firmware Version: v1.02.0 and the PSP has firmware version 3.11.
I shut off all security use DHCP (I also used manual settings) If I scan for a network I can see it and it show 100% signal strength.
But if I try to connect it tells me it can not locate an access point. I scanned the site, I reduced my becon times my rts and fragmentation times, still no progress.
I also have a WII and it also can not connect to the open wireless network. Yet when I scan for it, the Wii can see it as well.
I know it's my network and not somebody elses these divices are seeing as I have a very unique name for my network.
My Router picks up my work Laptop, my personal Laptop and a friends laptop with no issues. I dont think my router is bad but I read the forums and half the people can connect with their WII's and PSP's no problem and the other half, like me flounder. I setup wireless networks for a living and these games have me beat.
I used to use a network Everywhere wirelss router and that never gave me issue , using wep or open modes.. My Linksys.. Kills me.. Has anyone had a problem them fixed it? WRT54G Ver 5 Firmware Version: v1.02.0 please God help me, my 12 year old has me tourtured!

Connection of Sony PSP to iMac wirelessly
Is it possible to connect a Sony PSP and my iMac provided that PSP can only be connected to any computer through Wi-Fi?
Is the built-in Airport good enough for that? I don't use it, because my internet is working through Ethernet (I've got a cable modem), so I have no clue of its capabilities.
Thanks for your ideas.
MikeI don't have a PSP so I don't know for sure, but you can use your iMac's airport as a wifi hotspot. go to the wifi menu icon in the top right corner, when you turned airport on there will be an option "Create Network...", use that to create a wifi network then try connect to that using your PSP.

new itouch user here, We had a wireless connection with a password all set up but we couldn't remember the password meanwhile there are other connections around us but locked. So i decided to make a new one yet it still will not allow to go on safari after i type in the password PLEASE HELP ive turned on and off etc
My guess is that the security settings on your router and iPod do not match.
For a test, change your router so there is no security. See if you can connect and get to the Internet. If that works, set up the router with security and use the same settings for the iPod. -

But after a short time (a few minutes?) it loses connection between Mac and printer, even tho both are connected to my WIFI. I have to turn the printer and and off to reconnect it to the Mac. Very frustrating. I have checked Netgear, Printer and Mac settings and can't find any explanation.

Any suggestions on retreiving wireless connection with airport extreme, have unlugged power to all sources and pressed reset button on router, still amber flashing light
Hello ebulloc,
It sounds like you are getting the flashing amber colored light and cannot connect to the internet with it. According to this article:

Zyxel pk500z router/wireless modem loses wireless connectivity with imac
My iMac loses wireless connectivity with wirelss internet from my Qwest ZyXel PK5000Z modem/router intermittently. Have to constantly reboot the router to allow my Imac and other Mac notebooks nto reconnect to wireless internet connection.
Suggest that you take one or more of Mac laptops down to the coffee place and connect there to check your performance. If you get a good connection there....as I suspect you will...you know the Macs are functioning correctly.
If the Macs perform well at the coffee place, you need to contact the ZyXel support folks for ideas on why the PK5000Z device is requiring constant restarts.
As you might imagine....on an Apple support forum, we are not going to be able to provide much help with a ZyXel product. -

E4200 connect with Sony KDL-46EX701 at 2.4 Only
My E4200 does not connect with my Sony KDL-46EX701 at 5 GHz. The set sees the 5 GHz at medium strength or highter, but won't connect. Password is correct and verified. The Sony's UWA -BR100 adapter should work at 5 GHz, and it did work with my E3200 at 5GHz (unfortunately, it also caused the tv to recycle off and on whether connected at 2.4 or 5GHz).
2.4 works fine with the E4200 and the Sony.
Problem occurs with 1.0.0.1 firmware and 1.0.0.2 firmware. As my first post mentioned, I've been there and done that to no avail.
I also tried a Netgear WNDR4000, with the same result.
I've noticed that the 5 GHz reception on the Sony looks weak/unstable. I think the problem is that Sony's UWA-BR100 stick has poor reception, particulary at 5 GHz. Worked ok in winter and spring, but even indoors w/AC and good ventilation, my usable wireless range has always dropped significantly in summer when it's hot and humid.
Anyway, I gave up. I took and Linksys E3000 that I was going to return, installed TomatoUSB on it, set it up to be a wireless ethernet bridge, disabled the 2.4 GHz radio, and then wired it to the Sony. Then I manually configured the IP settings on my Sony TV. With the E3000 as a wireless bridge, the E4200 and the Sony connect perfectly at 5 GHz. Expensive fix, unfortunatly. -
How to connect with sony bravia.
Hi,
I'm trying to connect my Mac pro with my Sony Bravia LCD TV. I bought a MiniDP to VGA cable and I already had a VGA extension to connect with my TV. I used to use that cable to connect my other laptop and worked ok with frequent "no synchronisation". Once I connected all, nothing happened. I restarted the PC but nothing happened. I tried to play around with all connection, but nothing happened. I do use windows XP in my mac pro as well and it didnt work their either although my other PC working fine with same VGA cable. I'm not very sure my MiniDP to VGA cable is working or not? Is there anyway I can check its working. Also, someone (sorry forgot the name) in the forum said, HDMI works better then VGA. What do I have to do to connect my PC through HDMI. Is there any direct cable to connect MiniDP and HDMI? Thanks for your help. The best way to test if the VGA adapter is bad or not is to try it with another display, preferably a computer monitor instead of a TV. If it doesn't work with a monitor, then that's stronger evidence the adapter is bad.
There are MiniDP to HDMI adapters. Here's an example of one. I believe this company will ship internationally. You might be able to find UK sources for similar adapters.

How can I resolve the issues connecting to my wireless connection with my Apple tv?
Ive had my Apple tv for about a month now & I still have not even used it for what I actually got it for. It allows me to use the airplay feature with my ipad2. But when I try to use the home sharing feature it never connects with my apple ID. At first I thought that maybe I'm just typing it the wrong way, but then I used the same ID and password to purchase an app on my iphone & it works. It's not my wireless connection because multiple devices connect to it just fine, without any issues. I tried reseting it, that obviously didnt work. I really just dont know what else to do.
you can't rely on airplay mirror some apps support the old in app airtune audio only option if the video app in question does you can do it from the apps settings somehow
if not then you need a airport express which does pretty much what airplay mirror on the Apple TV does but it's a audio only -
Problem with connetction to wrt54g2 via wireless connection with WPA/WPA2 & wireless MAC filter
Hello,
I'm Alexey from Novosibirsk, Russia.
I have a problem with connection to wrt54g2 from my DELL D630 notebook via wireless connection. When I setup WPA/WPA2 in wireless security and wireless MAC filter I can't connect from notebook to WRT - in Windows I see that dynamic IP address from WRT is not assigned. When I switch off security mode to disable always OK, but I need a wireless security between DELL and WRT.
Connection via cable Ethernet port is OK.
Can You help me?Have you tried the different laptop...?
Download 1.71 MB the firmware for WRT54G2 v1 and reflash the router's firmware. After reflashing/upgrading the router's firmware, reset the router for 30 seconds and reconfigure the router from scratch. -
[SOLVED] No wireless connection with linux-3.2.2-1
After upgrading to linux-3.2.2-1, my wireless connection stopped working. It "connects", but I can't get an IP address through dhcp. Assigning an IP manually doesn't do the trick, I can't even reach the router through ping.
Downgrading to 3.2.1-2 fixes the issue.
I suspect this may be a regression but I couldn't find any information or reports of other people having the same problem anywhere.
I should note that I can establish a working connection when running the new kernel by using an external USB wireless device, so this probably has to do with the modules/drivers of my network card (?).
This is the ouput of some commands when running the new kernel (wlan1 is the device mentioned avobe):

Unable to access wireless connection with linksys rooter WRT54GS
Hi,
I just installed a wireless rooter Linksys WRT54GS on my connection, The problem I have is being able to access it with my wireless on my laptop.
I kept getting a message stating "connection unindentified" "access limited". I've done most of what is already suggested on your forum such has turning the power off of my rooter, my modem and such and still nothing. I'm able to access the wireless with my girlfriend Mac Notebook, my playstation 3 and my desktop computer which uses Windows X. First I thought that it my be a problem with my security but even when the connection is unprotected I still get that error. I try to disable the IpV6but that didn'tdo anything either.
My laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio X300 PQX32C-033019 with Vista and my rooter is a Linksys WRT54GS vers. 6
Here's my connection log, sorry if it's in French:

How to use both wired and wireless connection with static addresses
Now that I have setup my home network with static addresses (router, mini1, mini2 and PC) in the way I want, (big thanks to BDAqua http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1271635&tstart=0) I would like to understand some more advanced network concepts.
I would like to change the network so that I use both the wireless connection and the built-in ethernet connection at the same time in my Mac mini1. I would like to connect my PC to my Mac mini by using the wired ethernet connection so that I reach the Internet from my PC as well. I would also like to be in control of all the addresses therefore I want to assign the addresses manually.
The question: What addresses should I use between mini1 and PC? Should I use the same wireless address space as I already use between the wireless router and the other computers (router: 192.168.1.1, mini1: 192.168.1.101, mini2: 192.168.1.103) or should I use something totally different like 10.X.X.X? What should I put in ethernet connection "Router"-field, the same as in Airport (192.168.1.1)? What about DNS, same as in Airport? If I understand this correctly, you wish your Mini to perform Internet Sharing for your PC, correct!?
If so you'll pretty much have to let the Mini handle DHCP & NAT on the Ethernet port. You also want to be sure Airport is dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations, that's what position the Mini will use 1st for Internet itself.
On the Mini turn on both Web Sharing & Internet Sharing. The PC once connected will have the Mini's Ethernet IP as it's Gateway addy. -
