Wireless connections drops after AirPort Extreme 2007-001 Update

Hello, I am getting a lot of wireless connection drops since I installed the AirPort Extreme 2007-001 Update. Anyone has similar issue? Any fix?

Well, I was conneting to the University's wireless server (which is maintained and huge) flawlessly prior to the update. My friend has a macbook pro and didn't apply the update and he has no problem. I installed the update and since then I'm having a hard time connecting to ANY wireless server/router.
I came across the following, looks like a lot of other persons are having the same issue:
http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070202141024604
http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070126190822382
Looks like my solution would be to perform an Archive & Install and to not reinstall the AE 2007-001 update.

  • IMac 24": crash/unbootable after airport express 2007-001 update

My iMac 24" (2.33GHz, Nvidia 7600GS) crashed when applying the update listed at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportextremeupdate2007001.html
Video became corrupted, and underneath the garbled sceen appeared the grey "restart your computer" message.
So I did, it powered off. I powered it on again, and the screen remained "corrupted", see http://www.sevizeta.com/imac24corruptedscreen.jpg (the lower right corner has a 100% crop of the screen) and shortly after, the same "reboot computer" appeared underneath: http://www.sevizeta.com/imaccrashed.jpg.
    I've tried:
    - zapping the pram (Commandoption+PR keeping until the third reboot/chime) the same garbled screen "overlay" with the light grey+apple + circle progress, then the same "reboot computer" GSOD (Grey Screen Of Death?)
    - resetting the SMC (unplug all cables, press power button for 15 seconds, plug power cord again, power on to no avail, the same happens.
    - Restoring the EFI firmware: power off, press power button and keep pressing it: then the power LED blinks fast, then shuts off then lights slowly on again, the computer beeps, and nothing, no matter if the restoration CD is in or not, the same garbled screen with the light grey apple + progress circle, then GSOD.
    - I have Bootcamp installed (and have successfully booted XP with no problems before). I tried booting XP pressing the option key at boot. The hard disks chooser appears, but after selecting the XP drive, then click on the arrow button to boot, the LED switchs off, and the screen goes blank (black) but the LCD backlight remains. No grabled screen.
    - I tried booting single user. the screen remains garbled, but the CLI appears and is barely readable underneath. I try to keep on booting single user (sh /etc/rc) and it starts too boot until it freezes when launching mDNSResponder, but no GSOD however. see http://www.sevizeta.com/imacsingle.jpg.
    - I tried booting single user, then fsck -fy, then CTRL-D to keep on booting. It gets stuck with a kextdwatchvolumes: couldn't set up diskarb sessions.
The only errors I see before that:
    "GFX0: family specific matching fails"
    "Previous shutdown cause: 3"
    any clues?
    iMac 24" 2.33GHz, NVidia 7600GS Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Update:
Booting in verbose mode showed no obvious hints about the crash.
Booting in safe mode (shift key at boot) made no difference.
Ran the apple Hardware Test, no failures neither in basic or extended tests.
    Screen remained and is garbled.

  • Wireless Connection drops after a few moments

    Hello everbody!
Background: I have a cheap laptop with a windows only ACPI module, so I have to set acpi=off at all times anyway. I tried Ubuntu, which has the wireless problem too, but instead of repairing something bloated like Ubuntu, I now found my way to Arch to make it right from the beginning.
If the wireless problem gets solved, I want to go on installing the nvdia driver, maybe configure xmonad. (I want to try KDE4 for fun too though, eyecandy you know ) Simple working desktop without getting my laptop heated up like windows does.
The problem: I set up my wireless connection like the wiki says:
-The original SSID was "FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 Annex A" which I tried to escape with \ and using 'ssid'. This wouldn't work at all, if you have any explanation for that I'd love to know it. I changed the SSID to something without spaces and special characters and the connection would work. But it would be nice to change it back to the original.
-So it works now. Fine, I thought. But the connection drops after a few moments and I have to "killall wpa_supplicant dhcpcd" and start them again to make it work again. For a few moments only. So I went through the logfiles and found error messages which Google wouldn't help me solve on my own. Now I'm asking the Arch specialists here
Note: Using the partedmagic livecd, the wireless connection works out of the box and absolutely stable. I believe even a bit faster than under windows. So it has to work perfectly, I just don't know how to make it in Arch yet.

Thanks in advance to anyone helping me! I really really want to get Arch going. It's ideal for this laptop, no wasting of disk space, ressource friendly, the temperature doesn't go up as much with less cpu usage I guess..
I've written quite a bit, but hopefully this makes it easier for you to help me! I've included all I thought which could be useful.
    Greetings from Germany,
    Fenris

The easiest solution might be to setup NetCfg somehow with your wifi card and access point.  Have you tried that?  Can you find your card's chipset on the wiki?(chances are that your particular chipset will need a firmware put into /lib/firmware.  Again that's found on the wiki on the NetCfg or Wifi page, I forget which sorry.)  Those are two places where I'd look for good information.
By the way, your rc.conf is way out of date.  You should look at updating it by using the recent rc.conf.pacnew file that you'll find in the /etc directory.

  • I cannot get wireless connection from my AirPort Extreme, despite my ipad confirmed i am wireless connected to the AirPort Extreme.

I cannot browse pages like Google or Yahoo as i get error message saying "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".  I have tried resetting the Airport Extreme to factory setting and unplugged everything and reconnected them, but still i see that my ipad has connection with the Airport Extreme but i cannot browse the internet using wireless via my ipad.  can anyone help ?

Did you ever get an answer to this? Or figure out a solution? I have the same problem.

  • Wireless connection drops after time. Please assist.

    Hi
My problem is that my wireless connection drops every 5-15 minutes.
I don't know all the relevant info to give.  If there's something I can post that will help let me know and I'll reply.
I've used netcfg to configure my network.  I have a Canyon CN-WF511 wireless card.
I load the following 3 modules in my rc.conf;  rt2500pci rt2x00lib rt2x00pci.  I think those are the only ones pertaining to my network card.
When it drops I just netcfg -a then netcfg default (profile name) and it works for another few minutes.
    Below is my network profile.
    CONNECTION="wireless"
    INTERFACE=wlan0
    #IP="dhcp"
    #DHCP_TIMEOUT=20
    IP="static"
    IFOPTS="192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
    GATEWAY=192.168.0.1
    #DOMAIN=localdomain
    #DNS1=192.168.0.1
    ESSID=default
    SECURITY=none
    SCAN="YES"
    TIMEOUT=15

  • Wireless networking fails after AirPort Extreme Update 2007-003

I have just tried installing AirPort Extreme Update 2007-003 on a MacBook Pro and wireless networking, which used to work, now no longer works.
My wireless network consists of the MBP and a Thomson Speedtouch 585 ADSL modem/router.
The symptom is that no connection can be obtained - the Airport menubar item flashes continually about once a second, as does the WLAN activity light on the 585.
The Console.log reports (repeatedly) that "configd crashed" and the corresponding information in /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/configd.crash.log says that:
    "Command: configd
    Path: /usr/sbin/configd
    Parent: launchd [1]
    Version: ??? (???)
    PID: 473
    Thread: 1
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNINVALIDADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xb1e0cf60"
(There is a lot more diagnostic info - which I can supply if it helps)
All system software is up to date (Tiger 10.4.9) - I had just run the system updater.
If I disable Airport (i.e. wireless networking) and connect the MBP to the 585 by Ethernet, then it all works fine.
Something similar happened to my system about 4 weeks ago - I got around it that time by rerunning the MacOS 10.4.9 Combo update - but this time that doesn't work.
Any suggestions on why configd is crashing and how to stop it?
MacBookPro 15" Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Thanks for your help
    Curiouser & curiouser!
My answer was going to be that keychain had nothing to do with the problem. If I log in as a different user (even a freshly-created one), I still get the same symptoms. I was also getting the same symptoms with a rescue copy of 10.4.9 on an external hard disk.
However, I thought I would have a look at my keychain using the Keychain Access utility (which, I seem to remember, has some recovery/repair functions). Lo and behold, the Keychain Access utility crashes after about 2 seconds and the crash report in ~/library/logs looks similar to one for configd. Here is a sample:

So it looks as if something is messing up my keychain (all my keychains?) and that in turn crashes both configd and keychain access.
Do you have any suggestions on where to go from here? There are two issues:
How to stop keychain getting corrupted again?
How to repair the corrupted keychain if I can't use Keychain Acess? - can you just delete the keychain file and then re-enter passwords as and when necessary?
Meanwhile I can experiment with reloading my rescue copy of 10.4.9. If this fault is reproducable, then I guess I ought to file a bug report with Apple

  • Cisco VPN connection drops on airport extreme on OS X 10.6.7

I recently bought Airport Extreme and I must say the wifi coverage and strength is amazing compared to the DLink or Belkin routers that I tried. THe whole thing setup like in 2 minutes. Love it.
Now the problem. I use CISCO VPN provided by work a lot as I work from home frequently. I have found that the VPN connection drops like in 2-5 minutes of connecting. I looked through the several threads and apple response " to use NAT-T in CISCO VPN preferences". Only thing is that I did not see any NAT setting options in preferences and also I am unable to edit anything in the CISCO VPN pref (probably things locked out by our IT who provided the vpn software).
I also tried someone's suggestion that I switch to manual radio channels in the airport utility config - but that didn't work either.
    Any suggestions?
I am on OS X 10.6.7 and CISCO VPN CLIENT 4.9.0.1.0180
    URGENT HELP NEEDED

airport is off how can i turn it on?
Click on the AirPort icon in the OS X menu bar. Select "Turn Wi-Fi On" or "Turn AirPort On" as appropriate.
how can i reinstall mac os x 10.6.7?
I would suggest that you start with the Snow Leopard installation disk. You can then update to 10.6.7 from Software Update.

  • Wireless connection drops after bout 5 min - HP all in one C6180

    Hi!
I'm having problem with my all in one product - HP all in one C6180. The wireless network connection drops, and the printer becomes unreachable from both web-interface and printjobs/scanningjobs etc...
This problem has existed since I bought this machine..
I've tried several different setups when it comes to WEP/WPA/WPA2 etc..and also different channels on the wireless, but still same problem exist. The printer works perfect for about 5 min, but then drops the connection it seems like. I'm having about 5-6 devices connected to my wireless router (Draytek VGI 2910), and all seems to work perfect together except the C6180.
At this moment I'm running WPA2 for security on my network. I've tested the software both on Win/ Mac, and currently running the Mac-version.
Is there any firmware-update out that could solve my problem, or how else should I manage it to work properly?
    Thanks for any help!
    /V

There does not appear to be any firmware update on this page.  It could be a router issue.
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, set a high IP address, like .250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (ends with .1) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
    I am employed by HP

  • Random, frequent connection drops between Airport Extreme and MBP

I've had my Airport Extreme (on 7.6.1) and MacBook Pro (on 10.5.8) for a bit over a year.
    Never experienced any connection issues.
4 days ago, connectivity issues started out of nowhere (no updates etc). MBP would sometimes not find the Airport at all in Airport Utility (and then of course also can't find the network), and the connection will just break up intermittently - sometimes every 5 minutes, sometimes every half an hour.
Interestingly, other devices work flawlessly, particularly Xbox and PS3, without connection issues. My DSL modem is just fine, so the issue must be somewhere between the MBP and the Airport Extreme.
    WHAT DID HELP (so far)
    - Turning WPA/WPA2 security off entirely, but I cannot have my WPA off forever as neighbours will use my connection and we don't have flatrates in Australia
WHAT DID NOT HELP (so far)
    - Switching from WPA/WPA2 to just WPA
    - Changing the radio mode
    - Switching Connection Sharing from "Share a Public IP Address" to "Off (Bridge Mode)"

I have tried a billion more things since, but the one that seems to have at least improved the situation is to downgrade Airport Extreme to 7.5.1 and change the channel from #1 to #7

  • 10.4.9 / Airport Extreme 2007-002: Wireless with WPA broken

I just completed Software Update on my MacMini, and have found that wireless connectivity is broken. I suspect that this is due to either the 10.4.9 update, or the Airport Extreme 2007-002 update. If I disable WPA then the wireless works, but as soon as I enable WPA encryption, the wireless stops working (OS X says there is an error connecting to the network). Since the connection worked for the MacMini before the update, and still works for my Powerbook and my wife's iBook, I don't think the problem is with the connection.
    Any suggestions?

I posted this on another discussion... but might help...
MacBook Pro not conecting - 'error connecting to network' but the PowerBook was connecting fine to our Netgear DG845G wireless router after updating to 10.4.9.
Turns out the firmware on the router needed updating and now it's sorted, the MacBook Pro connects fine. The indicator was that the MacBook Pro did still connect to a work wireless network, just not our home one.

I have lost my iPhone on August 27, 2013 at 6:15 a.m. when I posizioned it on the strip for the scanner objet of Linate Airport.
After about 10 minutes when I was already on the plane my friend tried to call my number but the phone was already off.
By searching with the "Find my iPhone" system, the device is OFFLINE and does not appear on the map.
I have already written to the lost property office of the Linate Airport but at the moment they do noto have yet responded.
I have already forwarded the complaint to the police.
How can I find out it if my iPhone 5 is offline?
Thanks in advance for the answer.

  • Can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 Wireless Printer with the AirPort Extreme Base. The printer is NOT connected at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme, and is placed in another room. It worked just fine with my previous router (Linksys WRT54G). Help me!

    Hey Guys!
I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...
    Can you help me? Please?!
    Thanks Folks!

This must be a tough one, no suggestions at all.

  • Power Mac G3 Pismo with Airport wireless card in Mac OS X 10.4 won't connect to wireless network  with  newest Airport Extreme Base Station set at WPA Personal/WPA 2 Personal encryption.

My Power Book G3 Pismo with an Airport wireless card  running Mac OS X 10.4.11 will not connect to my new Airport
Extreme Base Station using WPA Personal/WPA 2 Person encryption.  The Airport firmware is version 9.52.  From
posts I've read online at different places indicates the Airport card should support the WPA encryption.  Perhaps the problem
is the Base Station is using a combination setting and the fault is in the base station?
    Thanks for any suggestions

Perhaps an inexpensive usb wireless adapter would work as well?
This is probably the simplest way to get the G3 connected to the wireless network.
I'll have to read up on getting an express and using it as a wireless bridge as I am unfamiliar with the concept.
The new AirPort Extreme is broadcasting a wireless signal.
A new AirPort Express could be located close to the G3. The Express will pick up the wireless signal from the AirPort Extreme, then provide an Ethernet connection to the G3 though a short Ethernet cable.
This can work very well......IF.....you keep the G3 at a fixed location, since it will always be connected to the AriPort Express using an Ethernet cable.
I do have an old Linksys Wireless G router.  I wonder if that would work?
In theory, yes. But it would have to use much older WEP "security", which is easily cracked in minutes using free tools available on the Internet. So, anyone who really wanted to get on the network could do so. It's an option, but not a very good one.

  • PROBLEM WITH Laptop Dropping CONNECTION to my Airport Extreme

PROBLEM WITH KEEPING CONNECTION To WiFi NETWORK   I have a  MacBook Pro, MacBookPro4,1, Processor Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.6 GHz  I loose connection with my Airport extreme it will just drop the connection. Up in the menu bar where it show thesignal strength... when it drops the connection  it shows  "NO NETWORK SELECTED". The only way for me to reconnect thru wifi is to SHUT DOWN my Laptop and start it back up.  Then it will hold for just a little longer and drop it again.   Very AGGRIVATING.  Is there a possibility that my Airport Card in my Laptop is going bad or what?  Gerrrrrrrrrrr     Seems to do it more when I am on Facebook but that just may be because Im on FB a lot.. LOL   And I already did the proceedure with going into the Utilities and accessing the Keychain and setting up Network again but it does not correct the problem.  HELP!!

You appear to have a solid radio connection to the Base Station.
    1) Remove unwanted networks from the list of "known" networks under
    System preferences > WiFi/Airport > (Advanced) > | Airport/WiFi pane ...
    2) System preferences > WiFi/Airport ...
... check [√] Ask to join new networks
"Known networks will be joined automatically.
If no known networks are available, you will
be asked before joining a new network."

  • My iMac is able to use my wireless internet from my airport extreme, however, no other devices(iphone, ipod) will connect. The network shows up, but the indicator just spins without ever joining.

I have tried resetting my airport extreme, creating a new network, etc nothing seems to work.

I have a feeling you may be stuck in bridge mode there...
Factory reset the Extreme (so we don't second guess later), and re-set up the extreme using iOS5 on your iPhone.
Set up your Wi-Fi network with your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, or Mac.
